N6 on contract - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My two-year contract on Verizon is ready for a renewal. It is either the Note 4 or the Nexus 6. Will Verizon offer this on contract or will it be something you buy online for the $650 only?

It should be offered on a 2 year contract if you want.

Bought mine for $199.00 on an upgrade which I was going to do anyways, but at least it's in my hands and I am loving it so far. Sold my GNEX for 200 an hour after I bought the N4 , so my out of pocket expense was zero dollars, not bad at all.
Only in America. It's not in my country! (yes we have T-Mobile too)

$199, and still Unlocked? Or are you stuck with using the Device for T-mobile only?
(since you signed a new 2yr contract, I'm aware you are stuck with T-mobile as a carrier.. Just curious if the phone is unlocked or not.)
I want to buy the off-contract do you guys now where can i buy near brooklyn and Lawrence!?

Not a big deal for me, I hate AT&T and I have to have a GSM phone because I travel overseas for my business and CDMA is not and option for me. I still find T-mobile the best bang for the buck, hands down. I have never had any issues with customer service and the coverage and network speeds are fine for my everyday needs. So far the N4 upgrade was best 200 dollars I have spent, and I sold my GNEX for 200 an hour after I bought the N4 so my out of pocket expense was zero, not bad.

AT&T Pre-Orders begin tomorrow!

Just announced!
http://about.att.com/story/samsung_galaxy_pre_order_information.html
"AT&T announced that pre-orders begin tomorrow for the Samsung Galaxy S® 5 in the U.S. at att.com or at AT&T stores. Shipping for pre-orders will begin in early April.
The Galaxy S 5 is available at $25 per month with AT&T Next 18, $32.50 per month with AT&T Next 12 or $199.99 with a two-year agreement. Full retail price for the device with no commitment is $649.99."
They were cutting it close for me. Had the new HTC been available sooner thats the route I would be going. But ill be placing my preorder for the s5 as soon as they will let me.

No idea at the moment. I know AT&T is only releasing the 16GB for now and no 32GB confirmation. If T-mobile releases the 32GB along with the 16GB, I'll order it from T-mobile.

Just preordered Hell yeah!!
Just checked their site and it's available, yeah...but only in black or white. Where's the "electric blue"? I'll be holding off preordering until that's available.
Meh....should of known. 16GB models only have about 9GB free storage from the MWC videos. I'll be waiting to see what t-mobile has to offer.

Still too little. 10.7GB - 1GB cache = 9.7GB - 3.7GB used space = 6GB. Well...I guess that is enough.
Pre-ordered!
Just ordered an AT&T S5 for my wife. I'm on Verizon through work and had them order me a Note 3 that I'll have on Monday. New phones for everyone! LOL
I actually just cancelled the pre-order. I'm going to need the 32gb model.
Question for those preordering, can you let me know how much more stable the new TW software will be? It's good on the Note 3, but that's because I have 3 GB of RAM!
Anyone know if there's a way to preorder for use on prepaid? I'm on T-mobile, but switching to AT&T for better coverage. From looking at their new plans, it actually cost more ($65+tax and fees) for a monthly plan vs prepaid at $60+tax only. Same 2GB of LTE.

I would imagine if your intention is to pay full retail for it, they will sell it to you on preorder just the same as someone on contract getting it subsidized.

Unfortunately, when I go though the process and choose the pay in full option it still forces me to pick a plan to checkout. I guess I'l have to stop by a store next week and see if they can do it for me. Just a pain in the butt.

Paying retail price

I tried to get the 649 retail at best buy but got denied because the Corporate store doesn't allow you to buy full price on Launch Days?
I had to pay the 750 best buy price. Can anyone else confirm this?

I did mine on the next plan... all it is is a monthly payment plan to pay the full retail price of the phone, $650... so it's $32.50/month for the plan that lets you upgrade every year ($32.50/month x 18 months = $650). when you want to upgrade in a year (or 18 months and the phone would be paid in full), you either trade the phone in for the next one or just pay off the remaining balance ($260) and then sell the old one online and get the new phone on the NEXT plan
I don't know much as the next program. I don't like it from what I've read

What is your bill if you don't mind me asking. Mine is $79 plus the 32 would be like $113-114. I think I might wait till it gets a little older and the next price would be a little cheaper than I'll get one.

well, I haven't received a bill yet that has the NEXT upgrade on it... so, my bill is $125 now, will be ~$158.00 with my SGS 5 on it.
$100 -> 10GB data bucket (shared between my wife and I)
$15 -> wife's line cost (for service)
$15 -> my line cost (for service)
$32.50 -> SGS 5
23% off national account discount
taxes
=$158 ish with the NEXT plan added
if you have a 10GB or higher mobile share plan, your lines are just $15/each if you are 1) financing a phone through NEXT; OR 2)pay for the phone upfront

If you're on the newer Mobile Share plans (especially 10GB+) it will save you money over a new two year contract. You do see a little bit of a higher monthly bill, but you save quite a bit over time. Make sure to get AT&T Insurance or Squaretrade, though. And the 20 month Next is better than the 26 month Next.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
If your going to spend $600+ you better invest that into a international version that supports AT&T LTE bands. You won't benefit anything from the AT&T version far as root, roms, etc since our bootloader is "locked"
Also AT&T Next is great if your into staying up to date with the latest devices like most of us here. Like the users said above but with more detail you can choose to lease/finance the device for either 12 months or 18 months. You pay $0 deposit down and depending on the terms of the lease/finance you can either pay $22 or $32 a month.
Your plan and everything decides on how much data you need. i have the 20GB plan with 6 lines. my bill is around $200-$250 a month. 3 of those lines are on the Next program
That's new to me. Wasn't sure the international version could support ATT

meh.. same difference for me.. I'll likely pay it in full in a few months anyways when the iPhone 6 comes out and get that too... in the end, I pay full price for the phone regardless.
The "Next" plan is a ripoff unless you're the type who is scared to sell a phone on Craigslist. An absolute ripoff.

exactly what i have, i coupled my $25 phone payment plan (18 month instead of your 12 month) with the new 2GB data value plan
What if you get it on contract. Its $199 down payment and $320 as ETF.
Total $520.
Is there any catch? You can cancel the contract after 1 month, pay the ETF and keep the phone??

Yup, that's the same thing I did. My contract would have ended this September, but my previous phone (iPhone 5) was one drop away from being completely broken. Because of that, I said screw it, bit the bullet and did the early upgrade to the 18 month Next plan with the 2GB mobile share plan. I would have much rather the traditional 2-year contract plan, but oh well...no way my phone would have survived another 6 or so months.

Yeah, the phone is yours if you choose to go down that path. Personally, I try my best to avoid the ETF, simply out of principle.

You can keep the phone on the Next plan. You don't have to trade it in if you don't want to. The phone is still yours no matter what...you just have to pay it off either way.
If i was gonna pay full retail I'd have gotten the Tmo S5 which apparently has an Unlocked BL, it is compatible with ATT LTE. Which is why I asked why the OP paid so much for the ATT version which is locked down as tight as fort knox...Still hoping a root exploit is found for ATT at the very least, if not not a big deal to me as its going to my GF who has no use for custom rom/kernels.

[Q] Buying note 4 outright...

Sooo just went to a T-Mobile store to buy a note outright to use on ATT but the sales person I got said they no longer allow buying the phone without at least a prepaid plan. Anyone else come across this?
Going to check out other retailers to see if I can get by without paying for 2 months of T-Mobile service on top of ATT :/
Try best buy.

Yeah looks like swappa+an unlock code would still be cheaper in most cases.
Seems that best buy only carries sprint Verizon and att?

You should be able to sign up and just cancel if you have no other options. The fine print reads that if you are using the Electronic Installment Plan and you cancel then the remaining balance on the phone immediately becomes due. Does it say there are some other fees you incur if you cancel early?

The official reason why they put a down payment on the S8+ was that it was an "upgraded version of the S8, like the iPhones with more memory". That's straight from their Twitter account. The real reason, of course, is that they lose money on JOD, and are trying to get people to move off of it or at least make up some of their loss with up-front costs.
I am very curious what their excuse will be this time, or if they will just let it slide like they did the Note 7. I probably will be willing to put some money on this phone, especially if they bundle some nice stuff with the pre-order.
They only finance 700 for 24 months. That's why the s8 was 30 and s8+ 130. If the note 8 is 1000 you need 300 plus tax. I just ended my original jump over this. It's there way of getting us away from high end devices. Jump is no longer worth it if you get the biggest best phones. I'll buy the note 8 from shop Samsung. Done financing phones with the mobile

In my area of Chicago, I find that T-Mobile works much better then Verizon. I would also not compare T-Mobile to Sprint! I think their customer service has always been good for me and with Jump On Demand I can switch out my phone a lot more then other carriers. The prices are great and their coverage is pretty close to Verizon.
