i had xperia pro(its nearly broken) i just want to compare the results to see if they are similar because they are both old phones and i need the qwerty keyboard...and some basic multitasking without lags, it would be helpful if you can give me a screen shot of anutu benchmark of your phone or droid 4, numbers always help to decide when you compare 2 phones.
Regards
John

Antutu v5.2.0 on my Droid 4 with Slimkat 8.8 and Lucize jbx kernel scores 16504 @ 1300mhz CPU / 384mhz GPU, and with the CPU fully overclocked to 1404mhz it scored 17112
1200mhz is stock on the CPU and 307mhz on the GPU.

It has to be the "JBX" kernel, lucize has decided to remove this file from his post for some reason, I've attached it to this post. It's based off dtrail's JBX kernel for the motorola RAZR, you can flash that kernel to the device too but I found the radio signal level would read wrong, so I have always used this one.

Hi!
Is it possible to use "JBX" kernel with stock ROM? Or maybe only module that allowing GPU overclocking?

You need to be rooted and have a recovery installed like TWRP / safestrap, you install that kernel zip just as you install a third party ROM through recovery. If you just want GPU overclock don't bother, the increase from 307 to 384mhz only increases GPU performance by maybe 5%, it's purposely set to 307mhz stock because the GPU is bottlenecked elsewhere (ie: memory bandwidth), 384mhz increases battery drain and heat without much performance gain.

After much testing I could only get 1391mhz 100% stable, regardless of voltage settings. Could get 1.5ghz to benchmark, but never fully stable. It does speed up the phone quite a bit, but the biggest improvement is simply using a debloated ROM with every APK removed that you can.

[kernel] Overclocked ICS 3.0.8 kernel v0.1 (for 4430 only) with tun.ko

Hi All,
Here is a first release of my overclocked kernel.
This kernel enables 1.1 - 1.5 Ghz cpu frequencies in cpu governor.
- 1.1 and 1.2 are with Archos stock voltage
- 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5 are with a slight increase of voltage: 1.4V instead of 1.388V
Usual disclaimer: I'm not responsible if you fry your tablet with this kernel, I don't recommend overclocking at all.
I'm personally a bit against it but as many are interested, here it is. My tablet is apparently very stable at 1.2. 1.3 works a little but eventually crashes. Without voltage increase, 1.3 crashes very early.
Instructions:
- Flash this kernel in recovery along with your build initramfs
- Enable overclocked frequency with your favorite tool (setcpu, cpu boost, system tuner).
- If overclock crashes your tablet, power off with a long press (more than 10 seconds) on power button, then you can power on again and try lower overclock.
By default, this kernel boots at 1.0 Ghz to avoid any issue. I don't recommend using it on 4460, it won't bring you anything.
I also enabled tun.ko if anyone needs it.
Let me know how it runs for you!

nope there are the omap 4430, which runs at 1,0 GHz
and the omap 4460, which runs at 1,5 GHz

thank you, so in theory it could go even higher ?
what value defines the volt ?
the 1400000
Code:
+#define OMAP4430_VDD_MPU_OPPNUCLE_UV [B]1400000[/B]
or the 0x29 ? :
Code:
VOLT_DATA_DEFINE(OMAP4430_VDD_MPU_OPPNUCLE_UV, 0, OMAP44XX_CONTROL_FUSE_MPU_OPPNITRO, 0xfa, [B]0x29[/B], OMAP_ABB_FAST_OPP),
after flashing this i can't enter sde anymore
when i enter sde i just reboot ?
Edit: working now
i need to hold power button and then select developer then release power button and it boots in developer recovery
wow! working great on my 80 G9! thanks letama
My tablet (archos 101 g9) is unlucky with overclcok, at 1200MHz (standard "hotplug" governor) passes all benchs like antutu, quadrant etc. but after a while, "go launcher ex" is refreshed infinitely. at 1300Mhz passes benchs but launching x-plane (flight simulator game) tablet crashes. maybe in my case is necessary overvolt even at 1200mhz. I usually have luck with the phones overclocking... patience! thank you and sorry for my poor englis

I didn't check this one deeply, but it seems related to tolerance in voltage, I have to look deeper. It seems to play a role in raising tensions, so it could be useful to modify value there.
I did this overclock quickly, I'm out of free time these days, but I'm sure overclock addicts could get better results with fine tuning.
hi, at 1100mhz tablet (archos 101 g9) seems stable, better than nothing thank you again. ciao
First of all thanks for the OC kernel! It works perfect with surdu_petru's first ROM. Unfortunately it does not work with his latest ROM, the deodexed version. The touchscreen does not work at all.
Any thoughts or ideas on that? Will there be an updated version of this kernel?
Thanks in advance!

Right now you will need to install a Kernel that allows for OC on top of your current custom ROM. OC Kernels are marked with "OC" so that you can find them easily.

Blurry 2.5 has a oc kernel built in with it. 1.2gig. Has CPU sleeper an custom governers with it.. Only bad thing is its on 4.1.2 not 4.2.2. In my opinion I'd rather be on 4.2.2 then gain 200mhz

Overclocking

I want to overclock my N7000's CPU and GPU. Please guide me how to do it safely. :cyclops:
N7000 Intl
Kernel: PhilZ cwm6 v5.06.1 with CWM 6.0.3.2 based recovery
ROM: SlimBean 4.3 (Official Build 2.2-1745)
Your kernel has to allow you to do that and you have to use a program like cpu master, or You can search for overclocking in the settings.
Sent from d605
So, what kernel allows you to do that?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The only way to overclock the n7000 worth mentioning
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tegrak.overclock.ultimate&hl=en
For gaming, i recommend:
Also, depending on how you use the phone you might want to underclock(and/or undervolt) the cpu (to avoid thermal throttle) and overclock the gpu (400 mhz works great on my phone, compared to stock 260)
For browsing the web and stuff like that:
consider overclocking the cpu to 1500-1600 (even 1650 has proven possible on my phone.)
try NX kernel (only for 4.2.2) or speedmod kernel.
for me samsung latest update is better for gaming because it has updated driver for mali (and you can use Titanium backup to freeze samsung's unwanted apps)

I am on asylum rum.
However, on this ROM, my GPU does not scale properly. So for gaming its not great.
NX kernel is great for gaming, unfortunately it's a bit dated.
In my opinion cm 4.3-based Roms work well.
But , changing ROM does not have as big an effect compared to overclocking the GPU.

You're not helping at all.
Answer the questions below;
Did you undervolt? What kernel settings did you change?
What kernel are you using?
What is your tegra variant? (check via root explorer, file : "/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/tegra_variant")
Certain tegra variants can't handle 1.7 ghz.Even if you were to make it, you'd have to overvolt so much that your phone would keep rebooting due to heat.
And restarts are mostly caused by the CPU not being able to handle the high frequency with such low voltage.Better variant (max 3, min 0) means more overclock potential and more tolerance to lower voltages.

That means you can barely overclock and even if you do, it will drain your battery so quickly that it will not be worth it.
If I were you, I wouldn't overclock. My variant is 1 and I can overclock just fine, but it drains battery too quickly and the gain in performance is barely noticeable.
If you still feel like your phone is laggy, go to the links in my signature and flash the ROM/kernel.I can honestly say they are the best I've flashed so far.
I also recommend you to undervolt by -50mV.This should help keep your system cool, while preserving some battery and it won't reduce performance or anything.
Talking from experience, I've overclocked my phone for 3 months or so.After I returned to default frequencies, I noticed that the gain wasn't worth it at all.Same goes for overclocking GPU.You just increase voltage far too much to gain a few mhz and it makes your battery run out very quickly.

http://www.modaco.com/topic/373498-mourta-kernel-34-a-new-beginning-update-2014-10-15/
First flash the rom and the kernel afterwards. As far as I know this kernel doesn't support overclocking, but it has better performance compared to a phone that uses 3.1 kernel with 1.5 ghz CPU and 564 mhz GPU, just because it's 3D scaling is so good.
It also reduces stutters you get in most of the games and removes from some of them due to improved core handling etc.
Btw, I recommend you to use ART as it kind of removes the need to overclock your CPU, you'll notice that your phone is a bit faster and a lot more battery friendly when you're on ART instead of dalvik.ART also reduces stutters in some games compared to dalvik.
i had same problem first. My O4X forze still 1,7ghz at 1,3V didn't dared to try with more voltage
Still running 1,6 on liquidsmooth 3.2 mourtas one and cyodak kernel.
This is what i need to run stable on variant 0.
