Good Day Guys!!,,
Disclaimer:
I can't be held responsible if your device explode in your hands! Try it at your own risk!
Just wanna share an easy guide on how to change on your Redmi Note connection to pc via usb mass storage instead mtp mode.
I find that mtp mode transfer file was very slow then usb mass storage.
Yes, root is needed.
You need Root Explorer or any other root file manager
*Open the apk and go to #root folder
data/property and open files persist.sys.usb.config open via text editor
edit from this : mtp,adb
to this : mass_storage,adb
save and delete persist.sys.usb.config.bak
Reboot/Restart.
Done.
Do the same thing later by change to default if you want back the mtp connection.
Now try to connect your Redmi Note to PC/Lappy and tell me the result.
Thanks for read and try.

Thank you, just tried, works great

If doesn't work, remove the ",adb" it work for me. thanks

one question. im able to set to mass storage but when i connect to PC, my internal just have read access no write access.
btw,im using Mokee rom based on CM11.

what if i want to connect it with a mac, can i do the same thing??

This is genius! Thank you!!!!!

I can't find persist.sys.usb.config.bak after editing.

I do not have such file in data/property

thanks.. worked well.. is there any way to view my internal storage in the same way, though?

work like charm.... thanks :good:

Very nice guide.
Sent from hell

It didn't worked for me.
Am using KHIMICB v6.4.2.0 GLOBAL ROM on Redmi 4G.

miui 5.5.1 beta
Guide was very helpful but after update to miui 5.5.1 I am finding it not going for mass storage mode and others.
kindly advice if any modification is required in the procedure.

sharing is power

I tried this on Moto G (XT1032) running CM12.1 nightly 20150614. Unfortunately, after changing the file, rebooting and connecting to PC, I was told (by android) that the phone is connected in some "installation mode" - I could only choose MTP or Charging or PTP. Dmesg output was:
Code:
[150558.440041] usb 1-6: new high-speed USB device number 12 using ehci-pci
[150558.572493] usb 1-6: config 1 has no interfaces?
[150558.573119] usb 1-6: New USB device found, idVendor=22b8, idProduct=2e82
[150558.573122] usb 1-6: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
[150558.573125] usb 1-6: Product: Moto G
[150558.573128] usb 1-6: Manufacturer: motorola
[150558.573130] usb 1-6: SerialNumber: TA9290FUNK
I put the text MTP,ADB back into the file and rebooted. The phone was just charging from that moment, dmesg output was the same. I had to restore my backup.
I know this is supposed to work on Xiaomi Note, I just wanted to share.
Nice guide though!

Did that, but now my phone won't connect to my laptop at all. It only charges, but i can't connect to copy files. I reverted to mtp,adb but still it doesn't connect. What i do now?
EDIT: Working now, i left a blank space.

Usb driver not found error
I have followed the procedure but when i connect, it is searching for usb driver but not found.
"usb device No driver found"
I have installed MI PC suit also but no luck.
Please help me.

Same here also, the reason for this is that phone has no USB hardware ID that leads to PC not understanding what is being plugged in to it. Maybe there is some place this info could be modified

HTC Touch Diamond Won't connect to PC.

Alright, I'm running Windows 7, and this is exactly what happens.
First, i connect my HTC Touch Diamond, on the phone screen it asks me to choose ActiveSync or Disk Drive, regardless of what i choose, or if i choose none, i always instantly get the following error appears in the task bar and the "Unknown Device" in device manager.
{

}
Under the devices properties in Device Manager, the Device Status says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".
If i try re-running the Windows Mobile Device Center installer (drvupdate-x86.exe from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...F1-E46A-4A5F-A791-09F07AAA1914&displaylang=en) the following happens:
So, apparently it finds the driver and then attempts to install it, but while doing so, the device appears to become 'unplugged' some how and then the Windows Mobile Device Center installer continues on its way.
I've tried various reported fixes for problems like this, such as:
-Checking or unchecking the "Enable advanced network functionality" box in Start->Settings->Connections->USB to PC.
-Used 2 different cables in various USB ports.
-Deleting the device from device manager, resetting my PC and soft resetting my device then reconnecting them.
-Hard and soft resetting the device
-Enabling various system services, such as the UPnP one (which was originally disabled for some reason)
-Tried it on an XP machine, same task bar error, and same Unkown Device in Device Manager.
None of the above has worked, and im out of ideas. I'd be extremely grateful to anyone who could help out, i've tried to provide as much information as possible, if anything else is needed, just ask.
Thanks in advance.

I've got the same problem, and haven't figured it out, yet
Check this link here: http://www.we-u.com/?p=1321
I've just found it and trying it out right now, but it looks like it would work
Just find the drivers on the net and install them manually, then try n connect
Solution?
Hi!
I have the same problem with a HTC Touch HD. Can you tel me what is the solution?
Thx,
Darknight
hi, i have a same problem. i am using a standard 5 pin mini usb which comes with nokia n95.
Please tell me is it right to use 5 pin usb cable or i have to buy 11 pin mini usb cable.
my touch diamond starts charging when plugged 5pin mini usb but doesn't sync.
plz help
I'm having the same issues as the OP. I'm thinking if I could manually load the drivers, all would be well. Could someone who DOES have it working with Windows 7 perhaps strip the driver out somehow and post it here? I've tried all of the tricks listed above, with no luck. I'm going to try to get it working with my laptop running XP later tonight... maybe I can find the driver that way?
try this.
i also had this problem. try another data cable which ur friend use to connect his htc.
same problem, and it causes errors connecting as flash memory.
tried same computer, same cable, but windows xp sp3 with activesync. everything worked fine.
wtf is wrong with windows 7?

there is nothing wrong with windows 7, I think you need WMDC 6.1 Driver for Windows Vista (64- bit) to make it work
in this site you can get it http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=3182
I have a problem with my diamond, can't make it work through usb with my pc.
It gives me an error in device manager:
"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".
I have installed wmd and tried different usb ports with no luck.
On my pc I have win10 installed, any suggestions?
Hi,
not sure if HTC Diamond can sync with Windows 10. I run Linux and have Windows XP with ActiveSync in VirtualBox. Works fine. So you may want to try the same, run XP in a Virtual Machine under Windows 10.

[Q] 3 button combo fix

Hello,
I updated to JPH and I want to root it, the point is. I forgot to install the fix for 3-button-combo since I don't have it.
How will I be able to root it now?
Thanks in advance.
Bump
Really? No one can help me out?
in the development area there is the 3 button SPL fix
and i think they also made it for Froyo
Yes, i know.
But how will i be doing this @ step 6
6. Start a new command prompt and type "adb reboot recovery"
CMD on windows
change to your directory where you unzipped the Android SDK
change to the directory where the ADB is
run ADB reboot recovery
must have usb plugged into phone in USB Debugging Mode
Ah now i see.
Thanks alot!
I'm really stuck.
First.
Connect the phone to the computer and mount the INTERNAL SD as mass storage.
I assume that it means this?

The "Phone" folder. There is a folder in there named "sd".
Second.
Unmount the SD card safely -> (to prevent data corruption).
What or how to unmount?
Third.
Go to settings -> Applications -> Development -> Enable USB Debugging.
That's not possible since i had to connect my phone to the pc in order to go to the folder. And with USB debugging on. I can't access my phone.
I really need some help with this, because that guide needs more detail. Or i'm just plain stupid. Anyway..
Anyone willing to help me out?
Thanks
Bump.
Anyone?
Bump.
Really need some help.
disconnect the phone from the PC
then enable the USB Debugging mode
then connect the phone back to the PC
now after the phone connects it will show you 2 messages
one with a red triangle telling you, you are in debugging mode
and the other to mount the device, select the message and click on mount
you only do this if you need to copy files to the phone
if not then just leave it connected un-mounted, then you can use the ADB commands
When i try to access I:\ (Location of internal memory). I just can't seem to go to the drive.
And what do you mean with: change to the directory where the ADB is.
THanks
Bump.
Still need help.

If you mounted your phone, NOT via Kies you should be able to enable USB debugging. Change it from Kies to USB Mass storage.
1. Connect the USB cable and pull on the notification bar then click on "USB Connected" then click Mount.
2. After you mount the SDCards, you're supposed to copy the update.zip to root of your SDCard NOT in the "sd" folder. Just right when you open the drive just place it in there not inside any folder. Then you unmount the drives.
3. Pull on the notification bar again then click on "USB Connected" like you did to mount the phone's drives but this time hit Unmount.
You won't be able to use ADB unless you have the Android SDK already installed. There's many guides out there on how to install it.

[Q] ADB issues, looking for ideas

For some reason I cannot get ADB to work with my NC. I cleaned out ADB and reinstalled with all updates except for the Galaxy Tab add ons. I used the driver that is available all over the forum and got the proper device id in device manager. When I try to check devices I just get nothing connected. Does anyone have any ideas? Any help is appreciated. Device manager also still has the USB as mass storage also.

So nooks good just no adb via PC? Win7 64bit puts it c:/program files (x84)/android/android-sdk-windows/platform-tools
If not just type adb.exe in the search box above winows start

ADB is not the issue, it must be some kind of driver problem. the SDK is in my path, it will run no matter what directory im in. It works fine on the vibrant.

thats what I used orginally to get to this point. plus the 1.01 image. I tried it again just to be sure. The composite device shows when plugged in but so does the mass storage, does that matter? should the storage still mount?
Here is what I have for drivers.

Here is what I did, (just to be clear)
Plugged in Rooted Nook.
Uninstalled USB Mass storage
right clicked "nook" and hit update driver
selected driver from downloaded Win7 post
clicked install unsigned driver
adb composite device showed up
reboot
plugged nook back in, now both USB storage and Adb composite device show up
Be lazy, get adb wireless from the market. I didn't even bother setting up my PC
sent from a Nook Color using xda-app
There's a thread somewhere around here with a solution that worked for me, it involved adding 0x2080 to the adb_USB.initial file in /user/yourname/.android.
Edit: Oh yeah, adbwireless is awesome so give that a try if you can't get USB to work.
+1 for AdbWireless!!!
Its free and you can get it from the market.
(I finally gave up after days of trying to get the usb drivers figured out on my computer.)

Didnt even think of that. I use it for my Vibrant and love it. thanks.
My wireless works great...but I still need the usb connection to modify wireless settings to allow connection to adhoc network (mywi on iPhone 4).
I've tried everything and am still having a problem.
I am running a Windows Vista machine. When I attempt to install the USB drivers, it runs through the steps, but at the end, it says:
"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
Android Composite ADB Interface
The data is invalid.
If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software."
I've cleared it all and still have the same problem.
I ran it on an XP machine, and was able to install the drivers, however, the nook still does not show up in the list of devices.
Any ideas?

USB Otg help

Hi, My HTC one is not recognizing USB over OTG. My first suspect was OTG cable itself, but it is working fine with Xperia,Nexus and even Xiaomi.
My HTC is S-off, unlocked rooted, Sense 6 with toolbox installed with stock 4.4.2 and build 5.11.401.10 . Then I flashed elementalX 3.4.1 -14.12 which I was anyway wanted to do. All working fine except OTG. I tried USB stick mount and OTG helper they are not detecting any drives to mount. I can't see usb led light blinking. It cant even detect usb even in recovery (twrp 2.6.3 which I now upgraded to 2.8 but still no success )
Please help to resolve this issue, i am not able to pinpoint the root cause. Its first time that I am trying OTG. I tried even looking into android.hardware.usb.host and handheld_ core_hardware.xml but not sure what to do.

This is information from Danny201281:
Well assuming your mounting it in Settings>Storage>Mount USB storage.
This needs to be done each time you connect the OTG/USB
And the same when in TWRP select Mounts then Internal Storage at the bottom of the screen and select OTG to mount it.
I don't know what else to suggest. Never had to modify anything settings wise. Just mount the device manually through setting and it works. If your cable works with other phones what about the USB stick. Maybe backup the contents and format it with a fresh FAT32 file system and try it again.

I am using stick mount Pro which is mounting the USB but it is saying " No drives found". I checked in Settings ->Storage, Mount USB storage is disabled. This probably means that the phone is not recognizing the pendrive. Same pendrive and cable is getting recognized by many phones (Xperia, Nexus etc). I can also see that USB led is not flashing.
Please help what to do next. I have twrp 2.8, elemental x kernel and sense 6 toolbox installed. I never fiddled with any file in the system.

Have you tried it without Stick Mount Pro? I don't have that app and I am able to mount the USB fine without it.
I uninstalled "USB Stick mount " and USB OTG helper apps. I cant see the Mount USB option enabled after connecting the cable. It seems that USB is not getting any power from phone.

Any suggestion what to do next ? Do i need to reflash from scratch or there is a simpler way to enable OTG ?

The OTG cable in the attachment is the type that I use it has a separate cable to provide power to the USB since the HTC One can not do so. No, it is pretty straight forward on how to mount USB. I would look for the OTG with power cable and try again. It may be that there isn't any power to the USB that is why it is not being recognized.
You don't mention the file system type you're using. For instance, if you formatted your sdcard as exfat, know that your kernel doesn't support it. However, going back to stock should re-enable it. Otherwise, fat32 should work fine all-around.

It can take USB Stick, SD/Micro SD, M2 and T-Flash.
It also allows the charger to be connected for higher power needs. Some USB sticks require external power and some don't. I've never needed to connect the charger while using SD/Micro SD though.
It's a fantastic device I picked it up in my local Tesco £6

Question HELP msmdownloadtool - Unknown USB device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)

Good morning everyone. First of all I apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong place.
I have a Realme 8 Pro (RMX3081) I was trying to flash a rom through msmdownloadtool, everything was perfect, the program recognized my device correctly and a few seconds after starting the operation you can see that in the communication status it said "verify data" and then "WCSM communication failed (WCSM code: 4010 the project number is not matching.)
Then I disconnected my phone from the computer and it no longer turns on and when I reconnect it the device manager recognizes it as "Unknown USB device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)"
I also want to point out that something similar had happened to me before, however, although the phone did not turn on, when I connected it to the computer the device manager recognized it as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008", but now he recognizes it as Unknown USB device (Device Descriptor Request Failed). I don't know what I can do please help
I do not know if this has a solution, I will be very grateful for your answers.

I explain the solution. Apparently when I tried to flash the phone it went into EDL mode and disconnected from the computer, maybe that's why I'm not sure.
To exit EDL mode just press and hold Volume Up + Volume Down + Power (in that order) until the phone vibrates.

I tried it and it works. You need at least 10 dollars and you can use the program a couple of times.
