[Q] iPad Air Charger for the Moto G? - G 2014 Accessories

I ordered the Moto G as a gift for my sister. The only USB charger she has is the one that came with her iPad Air. Will that one by OK for the Moto G? It is over 2A (2.4A I think) and I read somewhere that Apple doesn't follow the USB charging standards.
If anybody tried the Moto G with the ipad charger please let me know!
Thanks

I tried at my brother's home and it works

Thanks! How fast does it charge? I read somewhere that it could charge with just 0.5A (so really slow) even though the charger is over 2A, is this true?

So, does the iPad charger charge the Moto G at a good speed?

@2014 yes it should charge quickily

Thanks. She tried it and she said the ipad charger charged the Moto G in about 1 hour, which seems fine.

I have a generic 2.1a charger see pics... 1 h 14 min to full from 25%
according to motorola moto g can only use 1,5a max... even if the charger has more power it does not use all...
I thought the device would heat more using this 2.1a charger, but not the same as the 500mA or 850mA... my came with a 850ma charger...

Technically, the phone will automatically reduce the voltage and Ampe it receive. So just plug it in your phone and it does the rest for you.
I have so many chargers in my house, HP Touchpad, Motorla X910, Moto G, amazon 9w2A etc...
just plug into the Hp touchpad or amazon if I wanna charge fast. And the other which isn't in hurry
totally safe ! Unless you intend to use with while charging and the over-heat may cause a problem

[Q] battery charge ac vs usb

My moto x shows whether it's charging on A/C or USB. There was a patch for my Galaxy Nexus phone that always kept the phone in A/C charge mode so that it would charge at the maximum power the charger would provide.
Is there a patch or is there a way to set the moto x to always assume A/C charge so it charges as rapidly as possible?

the typical USB 2.0 power output is 500mA. moto ships these phones with a 2.1A power brick (for rapid charging). you'll never get the same charge rate off of a USB 2.0 port that you will from a brick.
USB 3.1 appears to have better capability, but good luck finding a computer with that standard.

You must have gotten a different charger, because the one that came with my Moto X was a 1.1 A charger.
I also got a 1.1 charger with 2 ports.

Mine is also only 1.1. It actually only charges at about 800mAh in my testings, though.

Suggest me a charger for my new moto x(1st gen)

Hi all,
I am from India and i just brought a new moto x(1st gen). I dont get a charger with the box. please anybody suggest me a gud charger. is our moto x supports turbo charging ???
You mention both 1st gen and 2nd Gen in your post. Which phone are you looking to get a charger for?
The 1st Gen (aka 2013) Moto X ships with a 1.15A (aka 1150mA) charger. Neither the phone, nor the charger support Turbo Charging. Standard 1A (aka 1000mA) or higher chargers with MicroUSB ends will work to charge it.
I don't have a 2nd Gen (2014) Moto X. But it and its included charger DO support turbo charging. As far as I know, you need a special charger that is compatible with Turbo charging if you want to make use of that feature. But standard 1A (1000mA) and up chargers will work to charge it at "regular" rates.
aside from the fact that we dont yet know which model you have to give you avalid answer this post belongs into the Q&A section
I've seen variation in charge times...
When i use a 1.2 Amp charger ... i can go from 10% to fully charged in ~1 hour . I have a Moto X (XT1053)
My partner has model : XT1052, and it doesn't charge as quickly - I'm not sure if it is because it is the wrong voltage (European model phone). i think Fast charge can be turned on or off at kernel level. Not sure about this however.
I think he is talking about the moto x 1st gen from flipkart which is available for Rs 18000 but without the adapter

If by "fast charge" you mean "turbo charge" like on the new X, that is a function of the new Qualcomm chip used in the 2nd Gen X. See -> https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/quick-charge
As for the XT1053 vs XT1052 charging speed, they both take 5 Volt input which is standard for USB ports and MicroUSB chargers. The speed difference you are seeing could be due to the current supplied by the adapters (i.e. if your adapter is 1.2A and your partner uses a 750mA), OR if there are different apps running on the phone while charging. Example, if Google Maps/Navigation is running on the phone, it will charger slower than if GMaps/Navigation wasn't running.

I've found that some cables will not let the full current through that the charger is rated for. In not sure if it's due to voltage drop our what though, as I don't care enough to dig into it further.

I can confirm the charging time, with my 2A charger it only takes about 1:30 to full.

Turbocharger needs fastcharge script,
THis script is in built in seveal custom kernels and also those used in CM12.
So if you install CM12 which has fastcharge support, tubocharger should work fine
Orignal charger takes 2.5 to 3 hours
use this "Sony CP-AD2 USB AC Adaptor" for your phone
use this Sony CP-AD2 USB AC Adaptor for Charging
You can by from amazon from this link:
Quick Compare:
Output: 5V 2.1A VS 5V 500mA(0.5A) as compared to original charger from Motorola
This charger charges your full phone in around 1 n 1/2 hr.
I found this as best charger around 500 bucks
Use orignal charger only. becoz other charger might damage u r battery.

[Q] Moto G 2nd Gen Touchscreen Issues while charging.

Hello everyone.
I had purchased moto g 2014 a couple a months back.Initially the device used to work flawlessly but from the past 2 weeks I have been experiencing issues with the touchscreen which dosent respond correctly while charging. It goes crazy when I hold the touch. Its been really difficult to work with the phone while charging. At around 80-90 percent is stabilizes a bit.Its dosent have any issue while off charger(ie once I unplug the wire it is still crazy but comes back to normal in a while),
I have tried to charging it with my moto charger which came along with my phone and have also tried charging with a Samsung,Sony and Nokia charger (all lower rated) but that too dosent fix the issue.I have even tried usb charging. Now those who would say the my apartments power outlets are noisy, well 4 different phones charge just fine without any issue.
I have even tried fixing this by upgrading to lollipop and then also a hard reset but both were useless.
So I really need to find a fix.Pls help.
Don't know what you are using for a charger as moto g doesn't come with a charger just a usb cable. You could always take the phone back to your supplier.
I have had bad USB cables cause this issue with other phones. Even chargers as well.
Try to use a good quality charger or if you're using a computer, a different port or computer.
I have an Anker cable with a Samsung USB wall charger I'm using and haven't had any issues, even takes a lot less time than the stock Moto G 2 charger (1200 ma vs 550ma).

It did come with a charger(atleast the Indian version did). Its a standard white charger for all variants. Its does look a bit low quality and easily gets heated while charging so that might be the source for my problem.

Same here,I have been using a Nokia charger for a couple of days now,and I have found that the screen is a lot better than while charging on my moto charger(Earlier I used to start charging with my moto charger and then switch to other charger just to check if the problem gets solved but now I tried charging it right from zero with Nokia charger).Even the phone charges faster than that on the higher rated moto charger. So i guess the problems with the charger and not my digitizer or the battery. But still I am facing the screen issue(though on a much less scale).
So, have you tried to calibrate your touchscreen when charging?

I had this issue with a cheap charger from eBay. I've been using a high rated Asus fast charger since and I've had no problems

That's a common problem with many touch-screen devices while loading.
The charger and/or cable is emitting a low electrical field which interferes with the digitizer and your body's electrical field. Not much you can do about. To find a proper shielded charger and cable is pure luck.

Well shouldn't that affect all the phones? My friend moto 2014 doesn't have any of these issue even on a normal charger .Should that imply that my phone has manufacturing defect?

I don't think so. I have different devices from different Manufacturers ( 2 Motorolas, Asus, Samsung),all with different chargers. They all do misbehave while charging. Maybe it's a problem with the electrical system in the building. But I highly doubt a manufacturers error.

Verizon Moto Mod Case Review

Here's my review of the Verizon case over in the Moto Z Force forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z-force/accessories/verizon-moto-mod-case-review-t3480948
I didn't know that in order to turbo charge work perfectly the cable should be usb-c to usb-c. I bought recently an extra turbo charger for the Moto Z Play, but it must be for the Moto Maxx because it's a travel charger, with a spot to plug a usb 2.0 or 3.0 cable, not a usb-c, and when I plugged the phone, it wouldn't charge the Moto Z Play in turbo mode (and I think it never will) =(
I'll look further into it and see which chargers fit the Moto Z Play for the proper turbo chage.
By the way, it's amazing to know there's a turbo charge for cars, I thought Turbo charging worked only for wall adapters.
