thx for your post.
I will try it and if its working without any problems it comes in the next version

Sounds interresting what GeeckoDev found out. Looks like the new freque. also goot for non playing Note 1 users...

57hz - 59hz is completely safe. If you go beyond that, bootanimation will start to derp (turn off/on the screen once it's fully booted and you're good to go). Also you will have no access to the recovery. I only experienced that on AOSP, though. On Touchwiz I could go to 62hz without a problem. 64hz is fine with the workaround above.
It improves smoothness and lowers latency by quite a good margin (~17ms at 57hz, ~16ms at 60hz, ~15ms at 64hz).
Also, good luck with your kernel!

Had to go back to forest 1.90. On Your kernel cannot use gallery

Hi thanx for the kernel... I am using oc1600 cm11 on dirty unicorns 8.2... Its working fine..

Hello Bauner
First of all thank u very much for a great kernel. I have tested the non OC and OC 1.5. Everything runs smoothly except for stock video player that got busted with the OC'ed vers just like forest's. I have yet to test battery as I have just completed one battery cycle. Will update if there's anything pops.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA Free mobile app

I also test it for 2 days on DU Rom and it is working smooth. I'm using the non OC version but it seems the kernel loves to stick on 1.1 and 1.4 speed which is why the battery drains much faster.
I also noticed that when Wifi is on and while screen off, it seems to drain also much faster, while on stock it consumes about 150-170mah on this kernel it consumes 230-250mah.
What I'm happy about this kernel though is that it seems to resolve my issue with Dynamic Colors on DU as I had no single reboots while using it. On stock kernel I had reboots when using Dynamic Colors.
Is there a way that instead of always using 1100 speed, it will use a lower frequency like 800 or 900?
Many thanks for the kernel!

Thanks bauner for the great kernel.my note now more energized and smooth after flash with oc1.5ghz tw....antutuscore got 17k..also problem on whatsapp memory leak seems resolved now

did you try to close all running apps and then check again?
if tehere are running apps that makes i/o can make this kernel running on higer frequencies because my modifications on ondemand.
you could try to use an tool like no-frills cpu control and try another cpu governor like pegasusq or conservative.
with this tool you also can see how long your cpu was running on every frequency

Thanks! Will test maybe tom and change my governor to pegasusq. Hopefully when on normal use it will use a lower frequency instead of 1100. I'm using BetterBatteryStats to see how long each frequency runs and the majority is 1400, 1100 and 100.
About the higher consume of battery, yes there is one app that was running and it was FB messenger though it was also running when I compared it to the stock kernel from DU.
I'll give feedback again once I'm done with testing.

with my rom+kernel it doesn't stay at high frequencies.
the attached screenshot was made a few minutes after boot complete

It says it couldn't mount storage/sdcard0 when trying to mount in recovery.
(KitKat version)

Hi bauner,
Mine also stay highest 1.1ghz..why never reach 1.5ghz..I'm ondemand/row..

It's an app. Nothing to do only follow the guides in the app. Sometimes you need the correct kernel for resetting... try it out.

This is inspired by SAMSUNG Infuse 4G, which use the same CPU and do not have 1.0GHz step in its stock kernel.
when there are both 1.24 and 1.0GHz, the governor will prefer to use 1.24GHz. And i thought it may help governor switch between steps faster.
so it won't eat more battery in this case.

I only built smartassV2(tweaked) into kernel. because it balance between battery life and performance.
There are also include kernel module of ondemand and conservative, you could load them by insmod if you like.
Thank you very much and must try it .

EDIT: unfortunately kernel doesn't work for me - i use it with paranoidandroid and rom was really sluggish at first (maybe cache-related...). then i startet setcpu for adjustments and the phone stopped responding with "colorful snow" on the screen. i pulled battery to reboot. - maybe my 9023 doesn't like 1,24 ghz (it is a bit picky, but 1,2 ghz at stock vol was never a problem).

yea, well, with stock kernel (and thalamus and matr1x and air kernel) everything runs fine, but i wanted to know, if there is a way to find out what exactly causes the problem with your kernel and my phone (which also might help somebody else). - raising the vol does not help that much, still some freezes from time to time (even though i'm above stock vols).

[KERNEL][CM10] CM10 kernel for ICS bootloader (RAM hack,OC)

This kernel is no longer being updated. Please refer to kowalski kernel thread for CM10 ROMs.
Presenting CM10 kernel built from source with ramhack and OC/UV support by wkpark
Only for the new (unlocked ICS) bootloader!
This is RC's kernel, with patches by wkpark for ramhack and OC/UV. Supports OC upto 1.5 GHz.
Thanks to them for all their work. Also, thanks to pengus77 for bringing CM10 to the new bootloader
Built using my guide over here
Uses spica's HP supersonic toolchain
Works with CM10/MIUIv4 ROM on new bootloader only
Download links:
New and recommended powersaver version!
Includes pengus77's wifi drain fix (All credit to him for that)
Non-OC, to increase battery life and stability
RAM hack values 24 MB, 32 MB, 48 MB for increased smoothness
New experimental governors are absent in this ROM, which is meant to be a stable version for daily usage. The new governors have not been properly tested yet and are unlikely to be used by most of the users. They may be included in later builds after more testing. If you want to use them, flash the experimental kernel on the previous page.
This is the version recommended for daily usage. Try the 48 MB one first, and if camera gives problems, then try a lower RH value.
Download link for stable, powersaver version
Link to latest experimental version
Download link for older experimental versions
This is the link to my folder with all kernels for the new bootloader so far, in case you want to try some other version. Ramhack values are mentioned in the file names, and if it supports OC (not every phone will like OC) it is also mentioned in the file name.
Thanks to RC and wkpark, this would not be possible without them.
Warning:
I am not responsible if anything goes wrong with your phone.
If your phone does not like OC/UV, or freezes when overclocked, reduce the max frequency or dont use the OC version of the kernel.
If apps like camera give problem, try to use a version with reduced ramhack value.
To be flashed over the ROM without wiping data. Wipe only cache and dalvik cache
If you are having problems with the new kernel and wish to revert back to the stock kernel, flash your ROM again
Credits:
arcee and the rest of the CM team. Its their work it is based on
Donate to RC
wkpark for cracking the bootloader, new his patches, without which, there would be no ramhack or OC/UV

- does this work with cm10.1 as well?
- are the Wifi drain patches from pengus77 included?

You could try it with cm10.1 but im not sure if it would work. Take a backup first. Wifi drain patches will be included with his permission and when he feels it is the right time (after the testing phase and all)
thanks for the hard work i think u can put like a changelog in thread and the features of kernel listed just avoid people asking same thinks all the time
included wireless.ko is the one patched by pengus? thank you in advance
edit: just checked, it's not the patched one
First impressions are good! Not much room for UV as 1ghz is already at 1000mV which is quite low already I think? But that is not important, just an observation.
Thanks Rugglez. Been waiting a while for an OC kernel on CM10 and no call bug either. This is the future for our phone I think.
I ´m testing the 48M_OC-Kernel on CM10.
I set max OC to 1,2GHz, but Antutu CPU Master shows Peaks at 1,5GHz! The Kernel is always scaling in its full available Range.
I tested it with different Settings and Gouvenours, nothing helps.

I just checked with "CPU spy" and yes it is hitting 1.5Ghz even though I have it set lower than that.

Probably tomorrow

Add Dynamic Interactive governor (98% the same as Interactive, but it dynamically changes its parameters according to the load)
Dynamic PLL Overclock
Further undervolt until 768 MHz (the latter allows us to do this without losing performance)
Predefine minfree and adj values
Fully functional App Whitelist (example script here)
Forced unaligned access
Fast Charge (use this to enable it: FastCharge.apk - 1.29 MB) [Disconnect USB Cable - Turn ON - Connect USB Cable]
Timer Slack Controller: (this is a copy-paste from boype's thread)
What does the timer slack feature do?
Timer slacking aims to synchronize applications' and processes' CPU requests. The goal is to wake up the CPU less often in oder to save battery. What you need to know here is the following: waking the CPU up and putting it back to sleep again consumes power. Imagine that four apps wake the CPU up four times each in one second. While without timer slacking the CPU would be woken up 16 times, it is desirable to coordinate the wakeups. If done right, the CPU would wake up less often, effectively allowing power savings and longer sleep periods. This is what timer slacking does.
I have activated timer slacking only for background applications, so that everything else stays as responsive as you know it.
Apple has recently introduced this feature under the name 'timer coalescing' with their Mac OSX Maverick (link).
More information: How Apple does timer slacking ('Timer coalescing') (Scroll a little down to the diagrams)
LZ4 Compressor:
LZ4 is a very fast compressor, based on well-known
LZ77 (Lempel-Ziv) algorithm. Originally a fork from LZP2, it provides
better compression ratio for text files and reaches impressive decompression
speed, in the range and beyond 1GB/s per core (!), especially for binary files.
These speeds are scalable with multi-threading modes, quickly reaching
RAM speed limits on multi-core systems.
ROW I/O scheduler:
The ROW scheduling algorithm will be used in mobile devices as default
block layer IO scheduling algorithm. ROW stands for "READ Over WRITE" which
is the main requests dispatch policy of this algorithm.
The ROW IO scheduler was developed with the mobile devices needs in mind.
In mobile devices we favor user experience upon everything else, thus we want
to give READ IO requests as much priority as possible. The main idea of the ROW
scheduling policy is just that: - If there are READ requests in pipe - dispatch them,
while write starvation is considered.

Script for adding apps to LowMemoryKiller's whitelist:Whitelist
(you have to edit it to add your own apps, then move it to init.d and set correct permissions. right now you can only add one app, I'll fix this in the next version)
Script to enable zRam with optimized disksize for our Mini: View attachment zRamV2.zip (flashable zip) [UPDATED]
Jeeko's PureAudio fixed for CM10.1 and AOKP: View attachment PureAudio__1.0_-_STUDIO.zip [ Please thank Jeeko for this awesome mod. ]
NOTE: This version of PureAudio is compatible with absolutely any equalizer or player.
If you have Titanium Backup installed, in the menu you'll find an option named "Integrate sys Dalvik into ROM". Use it.
This is something like odexing your system, but keeps the classes.dex files inside the apps. Don't worry if you don't have a lot of system space, Titanium will odex as much as it can until the free space runs out.
TIP: So in latest version of CrossBreeder, the OP added some system tweaking which interferes with our kernel. So I edited those parts to match our settings and device limits.
If anyone wants to install CrossBreeder:
-First uninstall by flashing this file: CrossBreeder_Uninstall_7.2.13.zip - 943.12 KB
-Then install this custom version: CrossBreeder_7.2.13-Badass.zip - 1.59 MB

Uhhm.... You mention CyanMobile, that's mean this kernel works for Gingerbread ?
Which android version is this kernel for...and will changing the ram disk make it compatible with others too?

@F4uzan I don't think it's for gingerbread..A_U kernel is for cm10.1 so maybe he miswrote...
i think this kernel should be for JB and/or CM 10.1.

LOL, forgot to tell you, they done it in only 5 hours ! I'm proud how fast they work. BTW, kernel didn't work for GB, i'm stuck at Bootsplash
Sorry, I forgot to mention the compatible roms
The kernel is for 4.2.2 and that includes CM10.1, AOSPA, PAC and AOKP.
Yes, changing the ramdisk would make it compatible with every rom based on 4.0+ .
I mentioned CyanMobile because that is the name of the maintainer of the repository on github. I think it is based on the kernel used by squadzone for CyanMobile because it has traces of those weird governors (lulzactive, darkside, smoothass etc.)

Thanks BTW, tried it on CM10.1, seem smoother and faster.
I think you should change "CyanMobile" to "Squadzone"
can anyone change the ramdisk and make it work on aosp.also i have a question if i am using patched service jar with flymod and ram manager will this kernel affect performance.

Upload your boot.img here and I will change it.
And none of those would interfere with the kernel.
In the meantime, I will upload a script to enable zRam, you might wanna check it out after you flash the kernel.

Hello bro...!! i am uploading stock Android AOSP ICS kernel built by Paul.... i.e. not from any modded roms based on dat...
thanks a ton.. and finally I am happie that even our device is seeing some new kernels.. i always wondered why almost all devices have so many kernels and ours not as dat much..
plz change the ramdisk... anytime your free. no ETA's right now m using ur undervolted AU kernel for aosp ics.. wanna say this.. no deep sleep in my phone... bt still i get insane battery backup now... like 8 hrs... thats too much THANKS
i seriously dont want to change from TW UX V5 to 4.2.2... .
I would say that the kernel is very good, but I think that it could add things known to speed mod kernel (no speed mod for galaxy mini). Please Alin.p kernel to develop even better and allowed the acceleration of 10.1 cm (speed)

You have the same ramdisk so this should be compatible for both of you.
Deep sleep is working with this kernel. What your problem might be: constant wakelocks from badly written apps (use Wakelock Detector to check that) or min frequency of the CPU set too high. 122-600 MHz with SmartassV2 and Deadline I/O and you won't have any problem.

As for the acceleration, are you talking about Hardware Acceleration? Because this is already working in this kernel.

No bro.. my problem is with Power button.. Itz not working.. hence my deep sleep is not working in any rom at all...
itz definitely not the kernel prob. I am sure.. and all these days i used to get worst battery backup.. this hinders me from using 4.2.2 rom for a long time.

Well, there are applications that can put your device to sleep by touching the overlay or the shortcut on the homescreen. It is exactly the same as pressing the power button.

Overclocking

I want to overclock my N7000's CPU and GPU. Please guide me how to do it safely. :cyclops:
N7000 Intl
Kernel: PhilZ cwm6 v5.06.1 with CWM 6.0.3.2 based recovery
ROM: SlimBean 4.3 (Official Build 2.2-1745)
Your kernel has to allow you to do that and you have to use a program like cpu master, or You can search for overclocking in the settings.
Sent from d605
So, what kernel allows you to do that?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The only way to overclock the n7000 worth mentioning
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tegrak.overclock.ultimate&hl=en
For gaming, i recommend:
Also, depending on how you use the phone you might want to underclock(and/or undervolt) the cpu (to avoid thermal throttle) and overclock the gpu (400 mhz works great on my phone, compared to stock 260)
For browsing the web and stuff like that:
consider overclocking the cpu to 1500-1600 (even 1650 has proven possible on my phone.)
try NX kernel (only for 4.2.2) or speedmod kernel.
for me samsung latest update is better for gaming because it has updated driver for mali (and you can use Titanium backup to freeze samsung's unwanted apps)

I am on asylum rum.
However, on this ROM, my GPU does not scale properly. So for gaming its not great.
NX kernel is great for gaming, unfortunately it's a bit dated.
In my opinion cm 4.3-based Roms work well.
But , changing ROM does not have as big an effect compared to overclocking the GPU.

[KERNEL][TW]Forest-HelloWorld-Make-II kernel_JB N7000_V201-P_Final

*** THIS KERNEL ONLY SUPPORTS SAMSUNG TW JB 4.1.2 ROMs (STOCK and CUSTOM). DOES NOT WORK IN CM or AOSP!!! ***
*** The Kernel is Safe (MMC_CAP_ERASE disabled) and the included PhilZ Recovery uses delete recursive and avoids brickbug ***
*** Stiil, I take no responsibility if the provided KERNELs causes any problem to your phone, you are warned! ***
Hello Friends,
I am no developer, just an Android lover. I share with you my first custom kernel for Note N7000 JB building from sources. It was made mainly for my hobby and my own needs, but hopefully can be useful to other members.
Forest-HelloWorld-Make-II kernel
As the name suggested, it is essentially a continuity of the C.O.H HelloWorld kernel.
FEATURES:
Features added by me:
- Implement r3p1 GPU driver to JB4.1.2 (from V2.0.0 (Credits and thanks to @GeeckoDev for this excellent work)
- OC OLED panel refresh rate to 60 (from V1.9.1)
- Remake GPU to 4 steps (V_1.9.0) (Very capable for gaming why maintain good battery life)
- Compile using Linaro toolchain 4.7.4.(12.2013) (V1.9.0) (it feels silky smooth)
- Update recovery to PhilZ Touch 5! You have a more beautiful and intuitive GUI. (from V1.8.2)
- Use LZMA compression (from V1.8.2).
- BLN support (only for V1.7.3)
- Enable OC CPU to 1600 (from V1.6.4 for OC CPU versions)
- Exfat native support (Now you can enjoy unlimited file size and fast speed on ext-sdcard)
- Kernel linux version 3.0.31, build using Ubuntu 13.10
- Toolchains: CodeSourcery G++
- Some optimization of the config file
- Su binary is updated to the latest version.
- Made three versions: 1) With OC of both CPU and GPU 2) With stock CPU and OC GPU and 3) With stock CPU and GPU.
Features benefited from C.O.H kernel:
- CPU Hotplug support from Speedmod kernel (only 1 core when not in load, battery friendly)
- Disabled logcat and dmesg and unnecessary Samsung debugging.
- UV capability.
- Increased Touchscreen sensitivity even when charging (Best touch response to date in Note).
- FSYNC Control 1 (from Ezekeel's GLaDOS kernel for Nexus).
- Tweak GPU in GPU OC version: 133, 267, 400 MHz (3 steps),
- Many cpu governors and schedullers: Defaults are Hyper-Row now (You can also tried noop-pegasusq as recommended by C.O.H)
- Fix for wifi drain on standby (disabled all multicast).
- Speedmod K5-3 fixes included
- Other features are the same as in c.o.h’s HelloWorld Kernel.
-------------------------------
HOW TO ENABLE LOGCAT (Only for V1.6.4 and lower!) .Credits to @hardcore:
If you want to re-enable logcat for whatever reason, do this:
adb shell
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
echo ANDROIDLOGGER >> /system/etc/tweaks.conf
mount -o remount,ro /system
exit
Reboot android system. Then can take logcat as you wish!
--------------------------------
The kernel is very smooth, stable and battery friendly.

- Include VR I/O scheduler, leave out Deadline
- Tweak thermal threshold (first level from 64 to 70, second level threshold keep the same).
Significant improvement for heavy games: I can play my favorite Let's Golf 3 super smooth now.
Bugs: stock video only play from gallery. Use MX video which is much better, btw.
HelloWorld-Make-II-V1.5.5:.
- Leave out some Governors, keep only 5: Hyper, Performance, Ondemand, Pegasusq, and SmartassV2.
- Leave out I/O Schedulers, keep only 5: Row, Sio, Noop, Cfq and Deadline.
- Padding zImage to the full size of the Kernel partition, 838808 bytes (Thanks to the trick by Chenglu and PhilZ!) this should help make the flash of kernel always clean.
- other minor tweaks
The new version is leaner, lighter. Should help improve performance and battery life!
For those who is on V1.4.5 it is recommended that you move to V1.5.5

forest1971, quick question. How can i edit mount points ? Example, /system is mounted in /dev/whatevah and i want to change that. Is it possible ?
You can find mount points in the guide in my signature.

Speedmod k5-5 seems to be the benchmark for performance and battery life. I suspect too many governers and schedullers may harm the battery life. I will make a new ones with only few of them.
