Will Verizon get Nexus 6. My Verizon rep says no! - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I really want to know from those who have a Verizon rep how have they answered about getting the Nexus 6...
I am the person that approves and denies for our Verizon account I am the that guy for our FedEx like company (it's not FedEx but we have the same dollar power and global brand) so our Verizon rep knows we are good since we drop made $$ for line, plans, etc. I have asked them to be ready to order when Verizon gets in it and they have been on standby to get the news since the pre-sales in Oct with Google... Today they reported this which killed me...and I want to know if you have a Verzion person are you getting the same info?
-----
In regards to the Nexus 6 Verizon Wireless will not be carrying it however you can go to the Google website and purchase it there and we will be able to activate it in our system since it will be compatible with our network.

It could simply be a matter of him not being aware of carrying the Nexus 6, or being unable to actually confirm availability of the Nexus 6 since even Verizon themselves have yet to say when they'll have it available. I mean think about it. AT&T has an information page up about the Nexus 6, but nothing yet for when pre-orders/orders will be available. T-Mobile has had a pre-registration page for a while now to be notified of when one can be purchased. Verizon is the only one of the Big 3 that has yet to say ANYTHING in regards to the Nexus 6... at least from what i can find.

I ordered it from Google. So all it tells me is that my phone will work when it gets here in a couple weeks.

[Q] Should I leave TMO for Sprint?

Ok, I've got a decision to make. I'm currently under a TMO loyalty family plan but the family member has recently decided to stop paying for the account. I have the option....
A: to do an acceptance of responsible and take over my single account allowing me to keep my number along with the phones contract.
B: I could open my own TMO account, no contract, which means I get a new number. The payment for that bill would be about $92 a month including taxes.
C: I could also open a TMO account, on contract, and get myself something new like a tab. (I have 14 days to get something) I'll just use the G2 instead of the tab. With a monthly bill a little over $100
D: My last option is leave TMO and get a sprint account with the same family member that is dropping TMO and join their family plan which is only $37 a month.
What would you do?
You could always open a new account and keep your same number, trust me, it's very possible.

They told me I couldn't. I know they lie but what can I possibly do besides say your wrong. Its the TMO Rep vs. Me. The rep said the only way to open a new account and keep the number is to pay to end the contract early.

Damn, I did it a different way (Keep my old number) so you're probably right. I just started a new contact and asked if I could keep my number. You could always raise hell, I've seen people get free **** that way haha but then again you also take the risk of getting tazed and dragged out by the police or security.
-If ignorance is bliss why aren't you smiling?-
You can keep your number if you pay for the bill a month after the 2 yr contact ends,
I work at a AT&T store and this is what we tell customers who want to port over to use but are still in a contact with another carrier and do not want to pay the early termination fess.
You would be doing is paying for a month after the 2 yr contact ended so the number is still yours, and you can port it over without a early termination fee.
In the long run, its always best to have your own account. Just saves trouble with other account holders. Just my personall experience.

just talking, pour it
As long as the downsides of being on a CDMA network instead of a GSM one aren't an issue for you (as they aren't for me, basically) then I'd say Sprint is fairly decent.
Of course, there is a $10/mo charge to anyone for having data on their plan. It's the same $10/extra you pay if you get a 4G phone. But, of course, as you and everyone else on here probably know, Sprint's 4G service coverage pretty much sucks right now.
Sprint's cheaper than Verizon, and really only TMo is cheaper than Sprint (though that's a relative statement because it depends on what you've got and all that jazz). Vis a vis phone numbers, if I were you I'd get someone to invite you to Google Voice and then switch everyone over to that number, then you really don't have to care in the future what your *actual* voice number is.
U can convert ur line to a prepaid plan.... 50/month ftw! !! Source.... ME ;D

Dude im in the same situation as you. I'm on a family plan also with a family member who decided to download over $200 worth of paid apps on his samsung vibrant. And decided he wasn't paying so our phones got shut off and he switched over to Verizon and got the same type of phone Samsung Fascinate...And since i lost my job i had to pretty much sell some of my stuff to come up with the money for our cell phone bills. But now that i got it all paid down. I got a offered that idk if i should take. My best friend is on Sprint on a family plan and for only $50/month Ill have 1500 minutes unlimited text, internet with the HTC Evo. but idk if its worth it to switch.

There is a slight difference between Carrier and GPlay Nexus 5

First lets start by saying THERE are NO HARDWARE DIFFERENCE'S Just the matter of your carrier accepting the device
*Disclaimer : This information may change in the future and I'm not aware of any other CDMA carrier that does this in the UNITED States besides Sprint (If you do post and let us know). Most of the world is on GSM anyway right so this doesn't even matter to you
The Google Play Version allows you to go to Sprint and T-mobile
The T-Mobile Version or Carrier version will only work on other GSM Carriers while the Google play version allows you to go CDMA and GSM
Both of the Carrier and Google versions sold have the same internals and same everything else its just the matter of your carrier accepting it
If you're going to be using it for GSM only the carrier version is fine, however if you would like to use Sprint one day you would need the Google Play one or buy one from Sprint Themselves
Overall From Carrier and or Google Play Hardware/Software is the same its just the matter of your carrier accepting it :good:
Another Difference is that Carrier purchased Nexus 5 GOOGLE WILL NOT RMA only LG can with their Limited 1 year warranty
THE RMA Process is Only available from Google If the device was purchased from them
So for best warranty service try to purchase from Google Play
So Mark...? How do I know this is true and not one of your BUll***** threads again?
Simple Try going to ting and or any BYOD Sprint MVNO or Sprint themselves in order for them to activate it the ESN/IEMI must be in their system the google play ordered device will show however the Carrier purchased one Example T-Mobile wont show
It may sound stupid as all Nexus 5's should be unlocked and can be used anywhere. As it should be but it isn't
This is an Error on Sprint's End. This was similar to the iPhone 4s being GSM unlocked however carriers such as Sprint/Verizon Locked it
I'm not quite sure what this thread is about.
CDMA carriers have to have your ESN in their database for the phone to work on their network. They have all the Google play ESN's and all their own carrier ESN but they don't have other carriers' ESN so you have to ask them to add it. Is that what this is about?

I am confused as well.
Sprint seems pretty horrific with dealing in ESN's anyways. 6 support calls and a friend of mine could still not activate my old e4gt. They knew it wasn't blacklisted for stolen or funds due. They knew the exact date the phone was last activated but it wasn't until I told him to tell them the old number that they are like oh that hasn't been released from the line (which no longer exists). You would think you would get a clear and concise message trying to activate a device that is attached to another account not cryptic errors people are asking if they have ever seen before. One support staff actually asked him "are you sure its a sprint phone".
We already know AT&T doesn't exactly deal as well with the N5 as we would like to.

Thats the best way to do it too. You already had service right? Possibly previously owned an LTE device? But its been encountered many a time they won't provision the account with LTE if the device ESN isn't in the system. But if you have an AT&T device available to activate on its no big deal. Already have service even better. Not an issue for say ST Byod or something.

Here is what I understand
Google version=bought from google play
T-Mobile version=bought from tmobile
Hardware wise, they are exactly the same.
However, sprint only has the ESN of the Google version (and their sprint version)
When op tries to activate the tmobile version on sprint, sprint (or ting) was unable to verify the ESN and refused.
Gsm providers are fine because you just pop the Sim in and it'll work (baring other stuff like imei blocking or att not allowing your Sim card to access LTE but allow 3g)

But what if Sprint's policy is only to allow a whitelisted phone on the network?
Otherwise, you could call them up with a Verizon ESN and get to use a Verizon phone on sprint?

True, but sprint could be doing things differently with the nexus 5
I don't know, but from ops perspective, looks like this is happening.
Imeis (and probably ESN) have a specific structure. (Go Wikipedia imei. On mobile, can't link easily)
If google/sprint version have the same starting digits and are white listed, and T-Mobile has different digits, then yeah

AT&T don't care what device you use. Call them and tell them you want to pay them money for LTE, give them the imei (they don't use esn) and they provision a sim card.

I ordered my N5 on 1st available day. Then went to local ATT store and set up my ATT Go account and SIM, without the phone, for free. When phone arrived, I just bought ATT Go pin from callingmart, pop in SIM and voilà, LTE.

Company policies often have little to do with the current behaviour of high level software that abstracts the process from low level tech support. I don't think it was even an issue until very recently as most international unlocked devices were not compatible with their LTE nor do travelers take contracts. There are a couple of tricks experienced support know and even better if you get a higher level support tech answering your call rather than having to elevate. Sometimes its an easy day some days its hard.
There are words to use with support that can help facilitate a solution but money is not one of them. Its their job to help you no matter a current customer or new and no matter how much or little your spending. Talking about money only produces eye rolling and it falls under the same care level as calling your credit card company and telling the random poor soul your cutting up the card. They don't care, though a bean counter somewhere will tell anyone who asks they do or they should. In reality a rep who only gets motivated by threats or talking about money is a prime candidate for retraining or dismissal.
If they haven't already adjusted for this they need to. With the amount of cross carrier compatible unlocked lte devices on the market they will have more customers on them than ever before. Any extra calls to get LTE provisioned is wasted money for them.

Telling them you wanted to pay them money is a figure of speech, like 'hello, I would like phone service' I didn't mean literally call them and say "I want to pay you money for LTE"

Right but you might be surprised how many customers are serious and speak like that as if the service rep is part of this corporate entity. I guess you can tell a battered customer service veteran. I once had a guy tell me he was going to file a complaint on me for basically enforcing a policy that had been changed...
I'm a bit bummed actually. As much as I loved getting off sprint I was excited about the device support. So I'd hate to have any issues going back. However if I ever went AT&T it would probably be an mvno.

[Q] How to move from Verizon

I am a Verizon unlimited data customer.
I want to sell that plan on eBay and go to the TMo N4 and I want to keep my number.
I have never done an Assumption of Liability and I'm concerned about the order I should do things in order not to lose my number. If I buy the N4 and sell my plan a week later, will TMo port my number over at that later point?
Or conversely, will verizon port my number to TMo and give my S3 a temporary number until I sell it?
TIA

Call T-Mobile store and ask how long does it usually take to have a number ported to their service. I doubt if Verizon will do a temp number, they will assign a new number to the buyer.
I am wondering about these very same questions. In the same boat as you are, looking to switch to T-Mobile, give away my verizon unlimited, need the ETF payout from Tmobile, and keep my number.
Well, just a simple comment... I ported my number from AT&T to T-Mobile in literally less than 2 min. The T-Mobile representative just called a number spoke to a person, gave my account info and even before hanging up I got text message from T-Mobile to my old ported number. It is incredibly fast. Not sure with your situation... But on a normal situation it is something done in 2 minutes or less.
Thanks for the replies.
I called Vz and told 'em the story.
They said to go ahead & have Tmo port the number and then I have 2 weeks call Vz back to retain the acct by calling the "Win Back" dept. (800 311-3099) They will issue another number.
So far, I can't get through to this Vz "Win Back" dept using that number or through 611.
Be careful not to loose your number when porting. Once its gone, its gone.

[Q] Blackberry 8330 for trade in offer?

i went into a verizon store to purchase a droid turbo. i brought my old blackberry 8330 from 2008 for the 100$ trade in offer. they rejected it and said it was too old. i went to verizon live chat and they said it should work online via mail in (they couldnt answer my question about in store trade in). If i brought they the transcript from the online chat, do you think they would comply?
Most likely. I have used transcripts before to prove a point. Its not something a Verizon customer should have to do but having the transcript in hand is a big plus. They won't look for it in their records but if you wave it in front if their face....

It's a trap!
If you mail your device they will have it and offer a lower price if anything at all. Buy new phone and get your old one on Craigslist or preferred vending website.
That rep was just dumb. I traded in a blackberry pearl 8130 without any issues. My buddy who is on my account was denied a turbo because of 'pending changes' by a rep in the store. The pending changes were the 6gb to 10gb upgrade. He went to another store and no issues with getting a new phone.

Phone on Total Wireless

I just picked up this phone cause it was finally able to work on Verizon but I can't get any mobile data. I can get on the internet just not make or receive calls and texts. Total Wireless uses Verizon's network so I can't figure out why I am having trouble. I bought a new sim, tried 4 different apn combinations, talked with TW customer service for over 45 minutes and can't find a reason why I can't get calls. Anyone else out there with this phone in a similar situation and if you got it fixed how'd you go about it? Thank you all for your time and hope someone can chime in on the problem.
You need your sim configured with "CDMA-Less" profile. The TW reps are not the brightest, but if you do a search for CDMA-less profile you'll see even verizon reps don't know about this.. I hope you get this sorted. I have TW and vzw with gudp account. let me know if you get this fixed. I want the 128GB model.

Thank you for the reply. Ispoke with TW tech service yetserday morning and told them that is what the Razer customer support said about the cdma less side of the service. They told me to leave the Sim in the phone for 24 hours to configure but it is way past the 24 hour mark and still can't make or receive calls and texts. I have a number the TW tech gave me that's a direct line to him so I'm going to have to call. 800.00 for a phone I can only use for internet is way too high

Might as well give up on it. Bee on the phone with TW tech manager and with Verizon level 3 tech support.Verizon can't change mine because my account is with TW. TWcan't change it cause the change has to be made on Verizon's side. So basically any mvno of Verizon will not work. Have you thought about contacting razor? And going about getting a FULL refund. Every other phone with verizon support works on total wireless. I'm mad and i don't even have the phone...
They didn't get the phone verizon certified till a few days ago:

I can get a refund and probably will. I have contacted Razer support and they said the first batch of phones that shipped on the 10th wouldn't even work for Verizon. A bunch of hoops had to be jumped through just to get a text message and even then it was spotty. If a person is on a Verizon mvno and wants to get the phone my advice would be to wait till the newness wears off a little and see if the bugs get ironed out. 645 is cheaper than what I paid. The BB where I live is 779$ over 850.$ after tax for the 64gb model

Thanks for making this thread though. Get that refund and get the phone again down the road. The Oneplus 6 will get CDMA-less verizon support and I hope that works on total wireless. I've had zero problems with it and all my verizon phones work in it. If the LG V40 was notch-less like this phone I'd get that. The pixel phones are a no go because the lack of sdcard support, I like to carry my music with me.
BUGS
That's part of the reason I'm waiting on the 128GB model, it only exists on razor's website and clearly there's a showstopping bug.... None of reviewers even talk about it either.
One this review they make a stupid comment about wanting less ram and 128GB the date on it is 10/10/18

I perhaps think that going for a 6GB DRAM / 128 GB storage might be more welcome than the 8GB/64GB configuration however - I wonder exactly what users would need to do in order to hit 8GB of DRAM on a phone.
I've noticed a number of journalists already comment on the price. The last generation was $699, so this one being $799, with the feature changes is perhaps to be expected in a world where $999+ for a flagship device seems to be increasingly the norm.

Anyways let me know your end result with all this I appreciate it.
Ok update time. By sticking an old T-Mobile SIM in the phone and going in apn menu,if u put Tw apn in then pull out old SIM and put in Tw sim and make sure it's on global with advance lte calling checked I can make and receive calls, and send texts and pics but can't receive texts or pics. Don't know why that is but still working on it.
In 7.0 and above Google has locked apn settings on cdma phones so u have to use a gsm sim to access the app list.It doesn't have to be an active sim, just one that's gsm. Hope this helps anyone that wants this phone or has it and has the same issue as me.

The texts are being sent to your phone via cdma which the phone does not have the radio for hence the need for cdma-less profile on sim card. How's data for you?
Data is fine. It was before.just before there was no cellular network connection.

Nobody wants this phone to work on total wireless more than me.. Thank you for the continued updates..
I do have a few questions:
When did you get the phone? The exact date.. Did you have to update the phone or check for updates?
If you read this thread this guy talks about the issue even after Verizon certification on the 25th

Just an FYI to anyone still waiting on their device:
I received my phone today and had no trouble using my existing SIM card. Had no issues getting the LTE network, sending/receiving calls, and sending texts. I did still have the issue of not receiving texts. I jumped on a Verizon support chat, mentioned the CDMA-less fix, and it was applied to my profile. Once that happened, texts started flowing in.
Just wanted to let folks know that this had to be done even after the Verizon certification on the 25th.

I got the phone on Monday and as soon as I turned it on it updated. No asking if I wanted to just went straight to it. It is fine if you are on Version you can ask for the cdma-less profile but The TW tech manager said she didn't know what that meant and the Verizon tech o spoke to said since I was on a mvno of Verizon that he couldn't do anything for me.I asked if he would explain to the TW person but apparently that was too much to ask for.

Could the verizon rep still see your account even though is it with total wireless? The TW reps are useless in most cases. and I wouldn't trust them to screw in a light blub. The oneplus 6T will be like the razor phone 2 and require a CDMA-less profile, so TW will have to do something about this down the road. You could port your number to tracfone and probably have everything working., the company that owns tracfone own TW. I've been reading about people porting their number to google voice and forwarding call to whatever provider they are using.
Just a question: Did you add the IMEI number from the razor phone to your totalwireless account either via the web page or phone rep? There has to be a way for total wireless to setup a CDMA-less profile on your phone.
I asked if they could but the tech manager acted like she didn't know what I was talking about. Like if I had asked her if elephants fly. I know it can be done, it's just a matter of finding someone at TW that can and will do it
Well I been on another go around with TW tech support about getting a cdma-less profile and once again get told they have no idea what it is and when I said to consult with Verizon support to find out how to enable it on my account I was told that they could not do that. So I will be switching to H20 or Cricket and taking the phone back and order a OP6T. maybe after a month or 2 I'll go pick one up again.

I got this from the OPO forums, and didn't note the credit to who posted but here's this:
The CDMA-less feature is an available feature, meaning, unless the tech support person sees it as available for the system, he cannot add it. This is why some people get this feature added quickly by tech support and some people cannot. If tech support cannot add the CDMA-less feature, you need to tell them to look up on the network and billing system what the phone is showing up as. In 99% of cases once the IMEI is received, the network updates properly and the phone is registered as a OnePlus 6T but in the billing system it shows up unspecified/unrecognized. In this situation the tech cannot add the CDMA-less feature because he/she cannot see it as available. To verify this, if you login to your Verizon account your phone will not show as a ONEPLUS 6T. This means that there is a discrepancy and when the clueless tech is trying add this CDMA-less feature he/she doesn't see it.
The solution is to ask the Tech person to SYNC the network and billing so that the billing side can also see the phone as a OnePlus 6T. When this is done, and his side is refreshed, the CDMA-LESS feature becomes available. Once it is available, he/she can activate it.
