Note 4 must have tweaks? Add yours here - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm new to the "note" line, coming from a regular galaxy s3. I thought it might help me and others to post what others might consider must have tweaks. I know I have found a couple by mistake that pretty awesome.
Xposed framework. (A tweak that allows you to add other tweaks from different repositories)
Network speed indicator for xposed. (Adds data speed indicators in status bar)
Wanam for xposed. (Many system tweaks)
YouTube adaway for xposed. (Pretty obvious)
Now you guys add some more below [emoji106]

Whitepages caller id.

5x5 Launcher.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-sprint/themes-apps/4x5-touchwiz-home-t2910243
Should have been this way from the beginning.
Other than that, ES File explorer, or any root explorer, and start deleting stuff.

Where to begin lol . .
Nova launcher prime to get half grid placement, no padding for widgets and full control over grid size.
Adaway
Titanium Backup to disable things
Greenify
Switchr for quick recent application switching keeps me from being irritated with the recents list lag LOL
Xposed module Amplify to reduce wakelocks
Xposed module BootManager to control what starts up on boot
Xposed module Complete Action Plus and Custom Share to take control of actions and share options
Xposed module NoSafeVolumeWarning to get rid of the stinkin safe volume nag screen
Xposed module YouTube Adaway
Xposed Module Wanam Xposed
GMD gesture control to add custom gestures
Probably one of my favorite mods is GMD Gesture Control which I fell in love with on my Note Pro 12.2 and have now set up identically on my Note 4. With it I have set up some great gestures like 3-finger down for Back, 4 finger tap and hold for Alt-Tab, 4 finger pinch for Home, 4 finger swipes left/right to change previous/next apps, 4 fingers swipe down for menu, 3 finger double tap for my texting app, 3 finger hold for my music app . . etc. etc. practically endless possibilities.

Awesome guys! I hope this becomes an awesome thread!

Blurred system UI is a huge must for me.
Greenify
App Settings( to change dpi, apps look better smaller)
wanam

Noise Recuction
It would be nice to be able to set the noise reduction feature independently for the phone and any Bluetooth headset/speaker phone. As it is, it is either on or off regardless of whether you're using a the phone alone or with a Bluetooth device. I would like to keep the noise reduction always on while using just the phone and always off when using Bluetooth.

I really like the 3D next launcher. Also, DK 3.0 for my ROM. He has lots of treaks built into the ROM. Viper 4 Android is awesome for sound mods. If you all have any questions about any of the above listed mods feel free to ask or PM me. Cheers

I'd like a dark themed Note. Also to keep the cool screen animations on the lock screen even with live wallpaper. Also aosp whenever it hits.

I also forgot to mention GPE 3.0 theme for DK 3.0. Really nice stuff.

Has inverted apps that work well. I'm using the service tray and the Sammy keyboard. Works well with the new firmware download for tmobile note 4.

I agree. It's an awesome phone. Mine is running FireKatN4 ROM. I also have the inverted apps running, wanam exposed, and a few exposed modules. I love this phone.

[APPS] List of amazing apps

Amazing Apps for the Xperia Z
A list of must-try applications
Hi guys, I've been trying out a lot of apps lately and I was surprised by the number of apps that go unnoticed when you're browsing the Play Store.
These may not be the most recent apps, but they're just apps that I think everyone should experience at least once.
None of these apps are specifically made for the Z, but they work well with it.
Anyway, I've put together a list of apps and a short description for them. Screenshots used are of my own phone.
I hope you like the suggestions, do give these apps a try.
Apps in this list may require -ROOT-.
This list contains -PAID- applications. (Please try the free versions of such app before purchasing)
Some apps run on the -XPOSED- framework.
All links to apps are to Play Store or XDA Thread.
App Settings:
|-ROOT-|-XPOSED-|
Download from XDAThread
Ever change the phone's dpi and find out that some apps just don't look right? (Hint: Phone dialer on Xperia Z)
Well, now that's no longer a problem because you can keep different dpi for different apps. The App Settings Xposed module lets you set per app dpi & font size.
Camera FV-5:
|-PAID-|
Download from Play Store
When it comes to taking pictures, some people just want a camera that adjusts it's settings automatically. But if you're one of those peoples who likes DSLRs where you can adjust various parameters to get the "perfect shot", this is the app for you!
Camera FV-5 can also produce photos in PNG format, thus preserving high quality of pictures. Multiple focus modes, Shutter speed adjustment, Exposure adjustment, and the list goes on. Hands down the best professional camera app ever!
Delayed Lock:
|-ROOT-|-PAID-|
Download from Play Store
The main drawback of having a lockscreen pattern is that you have to enter it each time you want to unlock the device, even if it is only a few seconds after screen off. If you set a lock delay in settings, say 2 minutes after screen off, your phone will unlock right away. No slide lockscreen. The solution for this is to use Delayed Lock. Aside from the mentioned feature, it also has other useful plugins for WiFi based unlock, location based unlock, etc.
DroidCam:
Download from Play Store
Webcams suck because most of them have really bad picture quality. Wouldn't it be awesome if your phone's camera could work as a webcam?
Well, here's your solution. DroidCam can connect to your phone in multiple ways and stream video from your phone's camera to your PC.
You need to install software on your PC too. It is compatible with Windows and Linux.
GMDGesture Control:
|-ROOT-|-PAID-|
Download from Play Store
Having a 5 inch screen, I thought it would be awesome to be able to perform multitouch gestures to navigate between activities and control various device features.
GMD gesture Control proved to be exactly what I was looking for.
With a great levels of customization and an extensive feature set, this app is probably the best gesture control app you'll ever come across.
(Tip: In advanced settings, set Override touch events parser to: ICS_DEFAULT)
Greenify:
|-ROOT-|-XPOSED-|
Download from Play Store
The worst part of having a ton of apps is that they drain battery even when you aren't using them.
Well, with Greenify, you pretty much ensure that applications that you don't need running in the background will be hibernated when you aren't using them!
It's very simple to use & very low on resources.
History Eraser:
Download from Play Store
If you're like me, then you hate having any sort of history on your device. History Eraser erases history from apps like the browser, play store, call logs, etc. at the touch of a button.
It also has a handy 1x1 widget for this.
Icon Themer:
|-ROOT-|-XPOSED-|
Download from XDA Thread
This Xposed module can change system icons. The beauty of it is that it can be used for all launchers.
Everytime a resource is requested, it responds with the corresponding resource that the theme redirects to.
Lockscreen Policy:
Download from Play Store
One feature I hate in 4.2.x is that the camera is accessible over the lockscreen. I have also noticed a number of people who do not like the idea of having widgets on the lockscreen. Lockscreen Policy allows you to disable lockscreen widgets and/or camera.
MoDaCo Toolkit:
|-ROOT-|-XPOSED-|
Download from XDA Thread
This handy set of tweaks runs on the Xposed framework.
Good for ROM customization.
SD Maid:
|-ROOT-|
Download from Play Store
SD Maid can clear up unnecessary data from your phone. No more do you need to worry about apps leaving behind traces of data after uninstall.
It also has useful features like Corpsefinder, which finds traces of uninstalled apps and Duplicates, which finds duplicate copies of files which can help you save space.
Sidebar Pro:
|-PAID-|
Download from Play Store
An amazing app that puts a sidebar on the phone which can hold app shortcuts and/or a list of open apps.
It is an overlay on the screen and doesn't interfere with functioning of other applications.
A must have for multitaskers!
SoftkeyZ:
|-ROOT-|-PAID-|
Download from Play Store
Easily change your Navbar's softkeys with this app.
Occasionally causes problems, but if you're an experienced user, you will have no problems fixing it.
Startup Manager:
|-ROOT-|
Download from Play Store
A great app to manage startup of applications. Many apps launch on boot that considerably slow down the phone. Not only that, but they also end up draining battery if they are not killed.
Startup manager lets you decide what apps will launch on boot. It can also control startup of system applications.
Trickster Mod:
|-ROOT-|
Download from Play Store
Trickster MOD is a nice, easy-to-use tweaker. It may not have a ton of options, but it does have the most useful ones and the ones that really matter.
It also has these "tools" that help you change your device's hostname, trigger the media scanner and connect through ADB over WiFi.
Wakelock Detector:
Download from Play Store
I was huge fan of Better Battery Stats, but of late, I've been having problems with it. I was searching for a good replacement, which is when I came across this app.
A humble app that shows you a list of wakelocks. Does the job well and does not consume additional resources.
XBackground:
|-ROOT-|-XPOSED-|
Download from XDA Thread
An Xposed module that can change the background for the Xposed Installer app as well as the background of the notification bar.
Needs a reboot to take effect.
Xposed Installer:
|-ROOT-|
Download from XDA Thread
The Xposed Installer installs the Xopsed framework and helps to manage Xposed modules.
This framework is compatible accross most ROMs. An absolute must for people who love customizing their phones.
Xposed Tweakbox:
|-ROOT-|-XPOSED-|
Download from XDA Thread
Another Xposed module for small tweaks and customizations.
The CRT animation is particularly interesting.
XThemeEngine:
|-ROOT-|-XPOSED-|
Download from XDA Thread
Ever wanted to use CM themes on a non-CM ROM? More specifically, have you ever wanted T-Mobile Theme Engine themes on a ROM that doesn't have the T-Mobile Theme Engine built in?
Well, this is the answer. XThemeEngine does exactly that. The drawback though is that it's limited in it's scope and not everything works perfectly (The project is still in beta). Also, themes need to be ported and cannot be directly used as is.
Zooper Widget:
Download from Play Store
Don't you love an app that lets you create your own widgets? Zooper Widget allows you to create highly customizable widgets.
It's quite light on resources too.
I hope this post was informative.
Took me quite a while to put this together, and it's not really what I usually do, but I thought I'd put in the effort anyway.

I don't own a PS3 (PCGamer ), so I have never used the app. I will however add it to the list later.
I wonder if it will work with my Xbox 360 Wired Controller for Windows. Some games do support the Xbox controller without having to modify anything.
I'll test it out tomorrow when I get back home.

Nope, I'm on an odexed stock ROM. Some tweaks may not work, some might. All of them need a reboot to take effect & also ensure that you enabled the module in Xposed.

This is most likely not related to Xposed framework.
Try and do a full charge to 100% and see if it's just a random problem.

Samsung has removed the ability to disable the brightness slider...

Samsung has really started to annoy me in the past few iterations of their Galaxy Note series, and this is really starting to get a bit ridiculous...
They have now removed the ability to disable the brightness slider on the Note 4.
Between the ridiculously large Quick Toggles (which I would remove if possible), and the completely useless S-Finder & Quick Connect shortcuts, plus the now non-removable brightness slider, 50% of the notification area is completely unusable.
I can't post pictures or outside links yet, but feel free to check out my post on Google+. (Luke Saladyga)
Rooting can solve this problem.

Actually, no, currently it can't... unless you'd like to expand on your statement with a link.
If you take a look at the screenshots, you'll see that the new Quick Toggle bar integrates the Brightness slider into it. So no, the Xposed or previous ways to remove it, not to mention the simple menu item are no longer relevant. There is not a single TW based ROM that I've seen that has removed the Quick Toggles, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong.
And NOTE 3 ROM's aren't useful at this point obviously...

This didn't work for me but wanam was updated to get rid of s finder and quick connect. I still haven't found anything to remove the brightness slider though.
AllianceRom on the S5 was a touchwiz ROM that had the ability to remove the quick toggles. It also had about 2553523 other options....I hope we get it on our GN4.

Must have root apps for MM....

Firstly mods, I apologize if this is in the wrong place. Please feel free to move it!
So lets get started. What are the "must have" apps that everybody is using on their MM MXPE? Whats working and what's broken?
Right now I am using:
Nova Launcher(donate)
Titanium Backup Pro
ES File Explorer
xPosed w/ GravityBox(Greenify module not yet activated)
Greenify
Root Booster
SD Booster
Uninstaller Pro
I'm probably missing one or two... I haven't installed BB from the free BusyBox Installer app as I haven't checked compatibility. I like Root Booster but I don't want to pay for the pro edition and while the simplicity is nice, the lack of fine grain control and any real explanation of what it is doing to achieve its promised gains is kind of a turn off. I wish there was a good, free, alternative that has an easy and intuitive interface that allows for not only one tap mods but further fine grain control. I know there are various options available but for some reason I see many people recommend Root Booster. Also, I swear xposed and/or GB are hitting my battery and I'm certainly not doing anything exotic with them. Anyway, What is everybody else using? What are your MM compatible must haves for the MXPE? Anything that takes advantage of some of our specific to MXPE features and the 6.0 iteration that we presently limited to? Share your list here!
Have to be careful using Greenify if you wish to enable all options (mainly hibernating system apps).. It causes unexpected restarts.
Titanium Backup Pro can detect nandroid backup on sd card ?? i cant
Naptime. It lets you activate doze when the screen turns off or you can set by amount of time, instead of the phone having to be flat and motionless for 30 minutes.

Adding features the one plus 5!

The purpose of this thread is simple...
To discuss anything that will truly add features to our phone... As we know this is a light skinned version of stock Android
And here I will be presenting links to apps and threads and everyone can contribute... Which add features to Op5...
Not just ui customizations..... Features...
Definition of a feature...
Something which your phone does which it couldn't do before that app..
So come on guys.. Lets start...
Though I did hate the laggy TouchWiz. I did live the s pen and S note...
And honestly speaking you wll too...
Let's try and customize our Op5.. To the extent that we want to...
This thread will present a series of apps and threads links etc..
Which will help the user to truly add whatever features they want from whatever skin htc sense Samsung TouchWiz to their op5
And I am no developer so please help me out here...

MacroDroid - Device Automation
MacroDroid is a powerful task automation and configuration app that focuses heavily on usability with a simple UI and logical step by step process.
Amazing UI. In my experience better than Tasker.
How about Always On AMOLED - BETA?
It's a simple app which keeps your screen on always (like MOTO devices). Nice and cool. If you pay a small amount you get an unlocked version with customization...
Loved the suggestions guys... Specially the always on amoled
Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk
I have two minor additions I'd want added:
1. More customizable theme colors (or honestly I just want red back!)
2. Invertable color option for the system tray
TL;DR add automatic rules
I had a note 5 I loved it, unfortunately it didn't like the hot tub.. TBH I never used the pen much, but when I did it was handy, perfect for field work; snap a pic, doodle on it, send it off. Awesome! I was torn between buying a note FE or the OP5, I'm glad I stuck with OP from a 2 to a 3 to a 5. I've become a flash-a-holic.
The feature I'd love to see is "automatic rules" you can actually get access to the setting on OOS if you have nova launcher, but it just doesn't work. I'm using "#1 profile" to automatically set the phone to priority only at bed time, this shouldn't be a difficult thing for OP to add/activate to OOS.
I'd also like the old dialer, or for that matter any other dialer, swipe down to answer for me is counter intuitive. Like thumbs up thumbs down, swipe up to answer, or swipe down to reject a call.
I wish you could choose the text bubble colour in the default sms app. Like textra or Google messages (too bad they don't have a dark theme for Google messages).
A setting to switch the wireless data indicator from 4g to LTE, I'm not sure why this bugs me, but it does.
How about Tiles? Also, Virtual Hosts is excellent for setting up a root free ad block. Just download one of Steven Black's host files from GitHub and point the app to it.
Would love for buttons and gestures (especially screen off) to be able to invoke app shortcuts. Just imagine the possibilities for Tasker.
Always on display.
Notification badges on the stock launcher so I can enjoy the shelf.

This is a nice app and I have paid to support but the battery hit is just too much right now compared to what you get using LG or Samsung's version

I don't understand why not a single stock ROM has long-press volume to skip track. Its such a simple feature. Its baked into every single custom ROM out there. It was there on Sony Ericsson phones (Walkman and K series). I need to get the damn phone out of the pocket, turn the screen on, unlock, open notifications shade, and press to skip a god damn song. (Not all headphones come with buttons, and not all headphones support skipping songs by multi-pressing the buttons.)
2 features I'd love added:
1. Long press back to kill app
2. Brightness slider in notification drop down. I know there is one, but you have to fully extend it to change it. My S7 had the option to place it in the first drop down.
Yeah I agree with most of you, some useful additions:
1. Badges on the Stock OP Launcher! I love it from my iPhone and sometimes forget to answer because I swyped the notification away and no badges to know there are still unread messages
2. Always On or something similar, but only if it doesn't use too much battery and no burn-in
3. Kill all apps in background with one button gesture
I'd love to see OMS commits get to OOS and probably experiment with the Kernel a bit (I know you can flash a custom, but if you'd like to stay complete stock, without unlocking). Maybe improve audio libs similar to ARISE....
How about a one-handed mode feature? That would be pretty helpful.
- Options to block QS & Power menu on secured lockscreen. (Smart Lockscreen protector app does the job, but it's service doesn't start at boot until the first unlock...)
- Skip music tracks using volume keys
- Built in Caffeine tile (the one from play store works well, but doesn't reset when turning screen off).
- Launch torch using power button long press when screen is off
- One-handed mode
- Center status bar clock
Hi guys,
1- badges for notifications. All my previous phones had this function.
2- more functions in auto mode for camera app, it's too basic for me. And in pro mode, I cannot set up the luminosity if the speed is in manual.
3- ultra power saving mode, like Samsung does, very useful when no more battery and we know no access to electricity for several hours.
4- Resize several pictures at the same time. Sometimes I need to send some pictures but the weight is too big.
1. Badges for unread msg or any notification
2. Always on
3. Camera should have more modes
4. Blurred wallpaper on lock screen
Always on clock
Ability to have status bar icons anywhere ie: signal on left
Ability to use dual cameras for wide angle
Ability to use normal USB-C to HDMI cables (not displaylink, Chromecast and wireless solutions are not fit for gaming, one of the 1+5s strongest points)
Screen off/on animation
List view animations
Full halo support
I'll think of more but that's my list of wants
