[Q] Samsung S 5 Mini SM-G800H Camera focus problem? - Galaxy S5 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

is someone experience a problem with camera focus on the S5 Mini SM-G800H ?
50% of the time it's had a hard time to lock the auto focus and showing RED ring.
any ideas if it a hardware problem or this phone model had this know problem?
Thanks.

It is probably software. Download the Google Camera app, it tends to work better.

with Google camera app it worse , keep crashing and freeze.
I will take that as a hardware problem for the the reason of no one complain about this as an issue.

I installed Google Camera App and it works fine, good focus when I keep my hand steady (slightly better focused images than the ones I get with the stock camera app), if you have crashing or freezing problems, I suggest you wipe out cache first then try again, if you still have such problems, try to Factory Reset / Wipe Out Data then install again and try (remember to back up your data on the internal memory as Factory Data Reset will wipe out all of it)

I can confirm, there is a problem with the focus and its look like its in my device ( and sound like in other brand new devices). i just got a new S5 Mini G800G/DS and there is no problem with the focus. ( i don't believe that only now i have a normal camera!!! , i got my S5 Mini when it came out in June).
for the record it look like the my new S5 Mini has a newer build # and it come with new preinstalled apps ( like Opera MIni). My OLD S5 Mini was not able to get the new update, keep telling me it up to-date.
Conclusion: if any of you have a problem with a camera it defect in the hardware not the software and i will send it back for replacement or repair.

I'm on Tmobile. Don't have that screen. So maybe it's in the settings somewhere of your carrier?
Not on my Sprint variant.
Anyone has this problem or can suggest something? Anything? It's killing me.

You could start by providing more detailed information. What carrier? What third party apps do you have that relate to contacts/phone?

My phone is Verizon but I use it with T-Mobile. I've looked up all the apps that has access to my contacts and draw over apps and didn't find anything unusual.
I use truecaller but that one has it's own notification.
The picture I attached in my first post shows what is really bothering me
I have Verizon and don't get this
Well finally after a lot of research and tracking apps I finally found what app it is. It's call (efing) reminder app. That is a part of bixby I guess.
Flashlight
Plagued me for 2 weeks and removed apps one by one. As others suspected, it was a flashlight app. It's gone now. App has an icon that several apps use, so I don't remember precisely which one. Not going to reinstall one to be sure. Light House Inc has this icon.
Its App Backup and restore. Uninstall that and the annoying after phone call popups are gone
Had same problem. After uninstalling app backup and restore, everything fine.
I also had same problem but solved it by uninstalling "Bestie".
I also double checked it again after installing and uninstalling again.
Hope it helps.
App backup & restore fix
Hey everybody. I came across this thread when I was trying to fix this issue on my phone. I saw that nopers said if you uninstall the app it will go away which I'm sure would definitely work. I wanted to keep the app tho so this is what I did:
Settings>Applications>App backup and restore>Permissions>slide phone and SMS off
This worked for me on Samsung Galaxy S7 so hope that helps anyone looking for a solution.

OnePlus 3T won't recognize Rear Camera, or turn on the Flashlight

Okay, so here's what I've tried to fix this problem, and I'm still drawing blanks. Here's the problem - the phone acts as if there is no rear camera whatsoever, nor led light on the back for a flashlight. Selfie (front-facing) camera works as intended.
1) Clear Cache on app.
2) Multiple different camera apps

- no change
3) full factory reset - no change
4) Aftermarket ROM - LineageOS - no change
5) installed brand new camera purchased new from witrigs - no change
6) Z-Device test
Weird that it shows front facing (secondary) camera isn't working, but front-facing works fine. If I try to save a z-device log, the app crashes every time. And this is a fresh install.
There was no inciting incident or anything done to the phone, no fall or water damage or anything along those lines. I'm running out of ideas here, what else can I do/try to get this thing working?

So I've just spent the past couple of hours trying to make that work. No luck on SO many steps. I imagine it's because the phone is not bricked? Is there another tool that would potentially accomplish the same thing?

This unbrick guide can be used even if the phone is not bricked.
What steps gave you problems?

Artifacts (problems) in stock camera

Hi!
I noticed some randomly appearing flickering artifacts (they have random shape, random position on the screen and can appear once an hour or every second) ONLY while viewing image from rear camera via stock camera app. But they didn't appear on video, which I recorded via screen recording app. So, my Mi A2 (I bought it a week ago) is non-rooted and has locked bootloader. Build number is PKQ1.180904.001.V10.0.2.0.PDIMIFJ (Android 9 Pie). Reboot and factory reset didn't help. Did anyone have something like that? Help me please!

It appears in daylight too.
Hi I have the same problem.
I have the android One 4gb global version, (Sweden)
android pie 9.0 V10.0.2.0
Tried rebooting and factory reset.
Reset cache memory in the camera 2.0 app didn't help.
Have tried different camera apps, same problem.
And i noticed when i look at different streaming sites the artifacts patches appear on the video.
I have described the problem in the feedback app.

I don't think this is because of the anti banding. They appears at daylight, but more often at lowlight conditions. And for me they are completely black random shaped things, and they doesn't appear on video, so i think its not the camera's fault. Maybe an update will fix it.

Strange, I'm on stock pie and this doesn't happen to me, try flashing different roms? if all fails I think you should return your phone because this seems like a serious issue

They are rarely appear, and has no affect on videos/pics, so not a very big deal, just annoying sometimes. Im on stock pie too, i haven't tried flashing any different roms, now i'm waiting for the january update, if it does not fix it, i will send it back.
This happening to my Global 4/64 A2 on Pie. BTW, it does not happen with OpenCamera, only with the stock camera app.

One UI 2.0 memory issues

Dear XDA fellows,
I have a pure S9 (SM-G960F) and recently installed the official One UI 2.0 update (G960FXXU7DTA3). The device has become progressively slow to the point where most operations, such as opening the camera, going home, switching an app etc. take 2-5 seconds each. I suspect that the problem is bad memory management as I constantly have only 700mb free (out of 4GB) and everything that is not immediately visualised now is killed in the background - even my home launcher and keyboard have to reload every time they are opened. I have attached a screenshot of the biggest ram utilisers:

Is anyone else having this issue? Are you having a mostly smooth experience with the newer update on the S9?
Yes, me too. I had to go back to Pie 9.0

I don't have any issues, my S9 feels a lot smoother than before with one ui 2.0.
And I didn't do a factory reset either, just wiped cache after updating.

Bug p30pro / android?

Hi,
Since a couple of months I've been having issues with my p30pro.
For some
reason every now and then, the pictures I've taken get misformed.
Out of the blue, it can be after a couple of days or after a couple of hours, pictures are suddenly unwatchable and have bars in the picture, or colors become inverted etc.
It seems to be done randomly to the pictures, and there is no action taken that causes this on my part.
First I thought it was because of WhatsApp. That a picture that I sent was then unusable afterwards. But I've noticed now it also happens to photos not being sent via WhatsApp.
Than I thought it was because of the gallery app so I installed another one and used only that one. Didn't change a thing.
I have a standard p30pro, have not rooted it etc. Installed every update made available trough the system..
This is becoming very frustrating and annoying that this happens on such a high end smartphone without any reason.
Photos I have taken are now sometimes unusable which cause me to miss moments captured with my camera.
The camera btw is the only resao' I've purchased the p30pro.
Does anyone know this problem? Does anyone knows how this can be solved.
Proove of misformed photos are added.

Usually because of using an external memory card, using internal again should fix it
Thanks for the reply.
I've changed the save location when taking pictures again to internal memory instead of external memory card.
I assume I can keep the SD card in my phone to use for other storage options?
Thanks.
