Root for Fire OS 4.5.2 - Kindle Fire HDX 7" & 8.9" Android Development

Hey,
I found a German thread here where the managed to root the latest Fire OS Version, see http://www.android-hilfe.de/amazon-...s-4-5-2-funktioniert-root-ja.html#post8436942. This post links to Firerooter (https://plus.google.com/+GranPC/posts/W412cQkHTCw) which is a tool to root the kindle HD 7. Isn't it possible to use this method to root also the HDX 7 with Fire OS 4.5.2? I'm asking cause I'm not so familiar with android developing, but maybe some experts here could answer the question and if possible port it for the HDX devices.
Greetings,
Alex

There's already a thread about this.

No luck. I'm thinking we need root first. Darn.
I'm pretty sure we'll have root shortly.

[Q] Root?

I know I'm probably posting in the wrong place but I posted in another part of XDA and no one got back to me and since this forum seems more active I guess ill try here. So I apologize if I'm in the wrong section of XDA but I'm a bit desperate. Ok so I own a kindle fire HD 7 2013 edition and it got updated to the newest fire is 4.5.2 earlier this year. I managed to get Amazon to rollback my software to version 11.3.2.6 but I have no clue how to root this. Please help me. Thanks so much!

You may just want to use Towelroot. I've seen reports that it works on the newer hdx, so it might work on our kindles as well. <br />

OK so I figured since this version is so hard to root I'll do something else. I contacted Amazon and got them to upgrade me back to Fire OS 4.5.3. And I was wondering what software version or Fire OS version is the easiest to root? This way I can get Amazon to roll me back to it instead.

Rooting Kindle Fire Gen 1 Help

Hello,
I have a Gen 1 Kindle Fire I would like to root and install a full Android OS -- I'm thinking Kit Kat.
The easiest way looks to be to use the Kindle Fire Utility 0.9.9, but as it runs, it tries to download from broken links and so doesn't work.
Is there a full KFU out there that doesn't need to download anything? What are my options here?
Thank you.
Regards,
Josh

KFU does not root 6.3.3 or 6.3.4

Well, dang, I coulda' sworn it did.
So I need to use Saferoot. How would I go about unlocking the bootloader, or installing a custom bootloader? Will the option on KFU allow me to install a custom ROM?
I apologize if I'm asking questions covered in the thread you referenced. I grew up in the DOS/BASIC/C/early Windows era and am still trying to transition to Android and its terminology.
Thank you.

Hello,
I have root now (thank you!), but in KFU option 6, random.kennocha.com is timing out. Should I just side load the Google Store after installing the new OS?

Hello,
I got it figured out and am now running stock Kitkat.
It seems the TWRP version needed to be higher than the 2.2.x that was included in the package I installed. I just upgraded to TWRP 2.8x.otter and it worked very nicely.
It's been a heck of a learning curve the past couple days. I'm used to just typing "format c:" and going from there!
Do you have any suggestions for the Google Play Store? I've not messed with that, yet.
Regards,
Josh

Hello,
It's 4.4 KitKat. I figured out Play Store.
This is getting fun. I'd like to see the Android architecture, though. I was A+ certified years back, and the class books were good for studying Windows. Are there any books on the Android OS you know of?
Regards,
Josh

Thank you for your answer. Too bad, I hope that someone competent will find a way to root this version, if not at least a way to uninstall Fire launcher and other system applications.

- root is very unlikely
- but there's still a lot you can do: https://forum.xda-developers.com/am...-to-make-50-amazon-fire-tablet-stock-t3710158

Thank you ?. I have already made these changes. I would have liked to free some memory by uninstalling some applications. We'll see.
Have a good day

Hi! On another thread, I think, I found that if you turn the screen off, wait about 5 to 10 seconds, then turn it on again (by touching the on/off button at the top), the install button goes orange and you can install. You have to do this process for each separate APK - hope it works for you, too! (I'm on 5.6, too)
