[i9195][recovery] PhilZ Touch 6.58.7 - Galaxy S 4 Mini Android Development

PhilZ Touch recovery
version 6.58.7
Newer than the latest version for S4 Mini available through the official channels.
I upload it so that others can take advantage of it, too. It is in flashable .zip format which means you can flash it form within any recovery.
You cannot flash it with Odin (but you can do it manually with Heimdall if you unpack the archive).

I think that your thread title should be [i9195][recovery], 'cause you're only publishing the LTE variant, so people could get confused

I am having huge issues with this one. I cannot backup or restore anything, cannot mount sdcard 0, system or anything. Only SDcard 1. I cannot flash anything else now, so no going back to previous version.
Help?

Try to flash it again. If you have i9195 and don't have F2FS partitions, then I have no more ideas. Works fine for me.

Sorry... From where did you get that? It doesn't exist at the developer page that you say in the OP

I cannot flash anything anymore, and backup/restore won't work. Seems my flashing days are over.

Flash another recovery from within this one, or use Odin or Heimdall.

I cannot flash another recovery, and my phone doesn't want to connect to odin.

Then you must have some unrelated issues.

I was able to recover my recovery using Rashr Flash Tool:

Thanks

just an ODiN flashable version
i have made a odin flashable version

extraxt the .rar archive to get the .tar.md5 file
use at own risk! i havent testet it yet!
didnt worked :crying:

solution proposal to flash with odin
here is my way i solved the challenge:
- downloaded the recovery: [i9195][recovery] PhilZ Touch 6.58.7 compiled by impactor: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58039022&postcount=1
- extracted the recovery.img file from the zip archive
- downloaded Caboomi's Recovery img2tar odin maker here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41481870&postcount=1
- followed caboomi's instrutions from step 1 to step 2 skipped step 3 and step 4
- applied nale's improvement to caboomi's script: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44824971&postcount=30
- followed caboomi's instrutions last step 5
- then i had my image.tar.md5
- flashed it via odin
- succeeded :fingers-crossed:

This recovery is working very well on my S4mini LTE, it seems only slightly slower than the old official version.
Thanks and good work.

I8190N(NFC) CMW 6.0.2.7 (3 buttons included) FAIL !!!

Hello, im completely new to android world.
I want to root the phone and i tried using that version with odin 3.04.
Inside it it has several files in this order list view: ipl.bin, normal2.bin, normal.bin, recovery.img, ssgtest.img, STE_boot.bin
When i clicked start it added the 1st file (ipl.bin) and stopped (FAIL).
I know that this CMW isn't for my phone (NFC), so i ask these questions see if anyone can help me:
1 - How can i replace that "ipl.bin" with the original on my phone? Can i extract the ipl.bin to see its contents ?
2 - Do i need to enable USB DEBUG MODE on my phone settings ? (some people say yes others don't say anyting, very confusing...)
3 - Where can i get CMW for I8190N (with NFC) ?

1. Why you want to mess with ipl.bin?
2. USB debug is not needed in download mode. If it's bricked it would be pretty impossible to turn it on anyway.
3. CWM is the same for all i8190's. take a look at my sig for all recoveries.

Thanks for replying.
I don't want to mess with it. odin copied that file to my phone, and i would like to undo that.
What is ipl.bin ? part of recovery mode ? does original recovery mode have ipl.bin ?
I think that for my model it only needs recovery.img, is that right ? so the others files have no purpose.
If CWM works for all models, why did it fail ?
I saw several post already saying that I8190N is different and will not work. Could you confirm ?

Ok, so this was something you flashed to gain root. What firmware is that?
Yeah, your right, if you want root you only need to flash cwm or twrp recovery, than the supersu.zip, or a rom.zip of your choice.
I tried to flash the ClockWorkMod 6.0.2.7 with the 3 buttons hack included. It started the process, copied the ipl.bin and i supposed that when it tried to copy the next file (normal2.bin) it failed. So what does ipl.bin do ? phone is working fine, so i suppose that file is only for recovery menu or something.
My phone has 4.1.2 JB with JZO54K.I8190NXXAMB1 and Kernel 3.0.31-900027
So what recovery.img should i use for NFC version ?

[Q] Download mode loop in Galaxy Tab 8.9

Hello experts!
Before gifting my Galaxy Tab 8.9 (p7300) I wanted to fully erase my user data and files and flash a stock rom back, so I formatted it in CWM recovery mode.
After that I can only use download mode. When starting with power+volumedown I get two choices: but the recovery mode won't enter (when I press volumeup it blinks fast and do not enter).
The only communication I get to the tablet is with Odin in download mode, and nothing else.
Since then I have made many tryouts with files found on the web: flash pit file, bootloader, cwm recovery, stock recovery and there was no result at all.
I'm really sorry if the answer is in another thread, but I haven't found any solution after 3 days searching the we.
If you solve my problem, you'll get $20. Please help me, I'm deseperate.
Thanks a lot!
Renan
Do you have adb access? If so, can you copy a recovery image to the root directory of the sdcard and flash it via adb?

I have a stock ROM and CM9 here, but they're all in .zip format, suitable to flash in recovery mode, which I cannot enter.
I couldn't find any ROM in .tar or .md5 format as hotfile server is out, and I don't see how I could flash a ROM with ODIN in .zip format. Is it possible?

Yes I am well aware of that,
the link I gave you in the previous post is for Dev-Host mirror
for a Tar file to flash through Odin
but it is compressed in ZIP format
so you'll have to download it and unzip it using Winrar or 7-Zip
or any other similar Pc program
then you'll get these file :
P7300XXLQI_P7300XXLQ6_P7300GBLMP2_HOME.tar.md5
SS_DL.dll
ignore the .dll file and flash the tar.md5 file through odin and everything will be fine :fingers-crossed:

HELP! Absolutely CANNOT boot into CWM

I followed everything via this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147852 and successfully flashed CWM to my GT-I8190.
The problem arises when I attempt to boot into recovery mode. Every time I attempt it, I am taken to the stock android recovery screen and not CWM. I've tried different versions of Odin... the touch version of CWM.. using a different computer... all to no avail.
I even downloaded Rom Manager thru Google Play and attempted to flash/update CWM from there (as it said it was, indeed, installed on my phone) but it wouldn't let me reboot the phone into recovery from Rom Manager - I imagine because I am not rooted.
I'm attempting to root my phone and flashing CWM is the first step. Like I said, the flash was, indeed, successful but the problem is that it always takes me into stock recovery instead of CWM.
Thanks in advanced, guys!
try another custom recovery, for example this one.
Wait until Odin says "success" and then reboot into recovery via Vol+ Home and Power

Same deal, xXPR0T0TYPEXx... I extract the .zip to find merely an image file.. I tried it with Odin anyway but Odin will not recognize it.
Hmmmmm.... I may have to go with vROOT if you tell me it's safe to use.
Another way of root is by flashing unsecure kernel. You can do it easily by Android Toolkit.

Yes you may. You'll need to install SuperSU from the app store before or after flashing this, but, the su binary is up to date (1.99r3) and ready to go.
Also you could just flash twrp with ODIN before rooting. Either way, this will fix you up.

Thanks man. Yea, this one took a couple hours longer to post than I'd have liked because of changes they made to the scripts. I had to re-architect my build odin script to reconcile the changes. But the modems, recovery, and full images are all posted. Not too shabby considering it was literally one day after the Nexus devices got their factory images.
My phone is rooted, and I installed Xposed framework. How do I install 4.4.3 without losing everything?
With Odin you lose everything right?
You won't lose your data. But it will overwrite your system partition, yes. You don't have a lot of options if you wanna get to 4.4.3 with the current environment you have on your phone. ODIN is pretty much it.

It is better to do a wipe data, to do a clean install? I'm afraid that Xposed and its modules can cause problems.
Don't know. I don't use xposed at all. Personally if it were me I'd flash it, see if it boots...if not, factory reset it and start over. But I'd at least try to boot it up without wiping data first. I go out of my way in all my utils to make it so users don't have to wipe data so you never know....it could work.
I've updated all my ODIN TAR threads to make it COMPLETELY clear what EVERY step is as it seems it was too difficult to follow.
Thanks. With MJ gone, you are the last Samurai for all i9505g users. We all depend on you now.:good:
Anyway to disable the System Update notification nag? I was using 4.4.2 Automanager, unchecked SystemUpdate but still no luck...
Should be able to freeze the updater apk whatever the file is. I don't know it off the top of my head but look through them and you should find it.

[REQ-DEV HELP] Experienced user and flasher stuck on DOK2 mounting partitions problem

Hello XDA members and devs. I have stumbled upon an issue that seems to be close to un-fixable. I have the SM-N910T obviously. I am on DOK2, every rom Touch Wiz and Cyanogenmod flashed correctly a couple of months ago. Now the only things I can flash are DOK2 stock firmware via ODIN, and then I can successfully flash TWRP 2.8.7.0, the only ROM I can flash is Maximum Overdrive 4.0.1 +(all upper updates.) I got a hold of Max OD dev and he said it's because of the 3 mount lines he added to the top of his updater-script. So I added those lines to updater-scripts of other roms and none worked. Some other roms have many other mount points and important lines of code in the updater-script that should not be removed or edited. I want to go back to Cyanogenmod, and others either 12.1 nightlies, or the new CM Remix 13.0 which worked before all the others stopped working at the same time.
Yes I also tried this.

After you flash D0K2 firmware - Use the stock Recovery and Factory Reset - That will get you out of the bootloop - Just remember that your internal storage will be wiped!
I also get the same issue after attempting to downgrade which always fails. Used to be able to downgrade and upgrade firmware's as well, now I cant. I got the dev of Max OD rom to pull a DOK2 pit file even flashing that does not fix my issue. I also posted on Reddit, so I will copy and paste this post.
Reddit Post.
I have a T-Mobile Note 4 was working fine for a long time flashed many ROM's multiple times over and over again never had a problem until I flashed DOK2 I assume. With ODIN. I did flash to stock from COD6 to DOK2 can't seem to downgrade back to COD6 with ODIN get error cant downgrade note 4 SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused2 > Binary 1 [1] eMMC write fail : ABOOT , that appears on Download mode. Then every time I install TWRP I try to install a ROM from OTG usb or ext sd and nothing flashes, rom files work used them before. I can only seem to install DOK2 and can't downgrade or flash other roms. I need help so I can flash other roms. Yes I tried flash stock DOK2 and boot stock recovery then clearing cache and factory reset, to downgrade to COD6 still failing and can't install other roms. every time i try to flash version lower then DOK2 using odin get this error ; SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused2 > Binary 1 [1] eMMC write fail : ABOOT
At one point I installed CWM trlltexx or something like that through TWRP, and did format and all of that. But after that went back to stock flashed TWRP 2.8.7.0 because couldn't flash roms with CWM because the roms thought I was on trltexx. Formatted all partitions with CWM. Anyways tried to get back to Cyanogenmod and or Tekxodus and other roms all fail. Minus Maximum Overdrives 4.0.1.
The first 3 lines that Overdrive mentioned that must make my roms flash able are.
HTML:
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mount", "/system");
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mount", "/cache");
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mount", "/data");
Anyways please contact me on Google+ Hangouts or respond here if you know how to fix my issue also have Skype but PM me for that info. Add Bacon Seeds first and last name to Google + Hangouts that G+ Hangouts email is [email protected] . I am experienced in compiling roms extracting, de compiling as well. Life on my Note 4 without some Cyanogenmod had been technologically heartbreaking. I like flashing multiple roms and swapping back and forth. Now I cant even test others stuck on Max OD which is a good and awesome rom but sometimes get tired of Touch Wiz.
I would install the ROM you can, then dirty flash an aosp ROM, then try to flash the ROM you want.

Use Kies to recover your phone. It should be able to fit any issues with partitions etc.
Odd how using the PIT file does not fix this issue. It's literally setting up your phone's partition table all over again and it isn't working. Also, on DOK2's bootloader, it is impossible to rollback bootloader. I tried going from DOK2 -> ANIH (Kitkat original) and it didn't work. You can still run older ROMs, just not the older bootloader. That's why you're getting the 'Binary 2 > Fused 1' message.

By the way, you should be using ODIN3.10.7. It is the latest version. Load up the full stock DOK2 firmware (I suggest downloading using SamFirm -- make sure to check Binary Nature for a full firmware), follow this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2610757
They used a PIT and Stock to fully wipe, with the exception in this case being that this is 5.1.1 and not 4.4.4

Use Kies to recover your phone. It should be able to fit any issues with partitions etc.

do you have a working DOK2 stock firmware running on your phone. Once you upgrade to DOK2 you can only flash ROMs based on 5.1.1 or ROMs that include a kernel. If you want to flash a ROM based on 5.0.1 you will need to flash either the Emotion Kernel or the Beast mode kernel as well before you reboot the device.
If you have Stock TW firmware running and you have TWRP installed your phone should be fixed. As long as you use compatible ROMs with it.

Looks like you corrupted your partitions. You might need to flash the pit file to fix it. I think there is a thread related to that somewhere.
Request thread closed, resolved!
Steps taken not in any order.
Find a legit us TRLTE pit file. Message me for the TRLTE pit file or I'll make a separate thread for it.
Flash DOK2 stock firmware + proper pit file and have re-partition checked, along with flash BL and EFS clear.
Format ext SD card.
Downloaded the roms onto the formatted SD card.
Flash the latest TWRP recovery
Wipe all not including system x3 times.
Go to Wipe and then Format, check system format system type Yes
Go to install select your ROM.
Then select your GApps and custom kernel whatever else you want.
You might have to do the stock flashing and wiping and formatting several times before this works along with the re-partitioning.
Note a legit TRLTETMO pit file can be found : http://www.sammobile.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29568
The legit pit file name for TRLTETMO should be labeled: TRLTE_USA_TMO.pit

Congrats!
Hey bacon. I'm glad you figured it out. But in was wondering if you think me doing the pit file would work for my situation. Currently my phone is on a loop every time I flash dok2. And twrp will not flash any huge files. I can get kernels too flash but not roms. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I can't even get the firmware too boot up. Thanks in advance

Have you flashed the full ODIN package? Try erasing NAND and Re-Partition (with .pit in ODIN package)
I will usually just go about it that way when I go to stock to start off fresh.

So I'm flashing the full ODIN package. PDA for stock, PIT from the link you posted, Checked boxes are Auto Reboot. Re-Partition, F. Reset Time and NAND Erase All. This is with ODIN 3.07.
What do I do when it finishes?

It's done but boot looping with RECOVERY BOOTING... screen. Do I flash TWRP now? I have 2.8.7. Is that sufficient?
Thanks

It shouldn't be bootlooping, in fact it has to reboot into recovery right after ODIN flashes the stock package, it needs to erase + verify / flash CSC contents. It should pretty much boot up into stock. If you really want to flash TWRP (to flash a custom ROM), flash it. Right after you flash it, make sure you take the battery out and you reboot into recovery manually. Stock system prevents recovery from being overwritten.

Sorry I'm fairly new to this. So it did boot into custom recovery. I just want the phone back to stock without TWRP or any bells or whistles.
Its on the stock recovery interface. Should I wipe data/factory reset? Or reboot system now?

Once it's done with verification of CSC, just reboot system. It should take a few minutes to set itself up, then will throw you into the setup wizard. Once you're there you're good to go.

Also does it matter the dm-verity verification failed is showing at the bottom?
