Need to recover my data from malfunctioning phone - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My screen has been shattered but still functional for months now, but the phone finally gave up on me. The phone currently does the following
I took the battery out and put back in. I try starting the phone and the at&t tune plays as usual, as well as the notification LED fading from light blue to dark blue over and over and the two touch keys light up but the screen never comes on or lights anything at all. Also, the blue notification LED continues to fade in and out and the touch keys stay lit up as if the phone is constantly trying to boot.
I plug it into my laptop but it does not appear in the device and drive folder. One thing I did discover is that when I open up Computer Management (Windows 8) and go to the Device Manager tab, and then the Portable Devices tab and it does appear as "samsung mobile mtp device". So I know the phone is making connection with the computer and vice versa but I need help trying to copy all the data to my laptop. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

In my case i attach Samsung to hdmi adapter to check - what messages are displayed on the screen if any. Also try to boot in recovery, if it present and make backup from there - not sure if hdmi signal will work in such case. Also you can re-flash firmware, that does not wipe user data - but still risky.

Huge Problems with my HTC Touch DIamond

hello guys, i hope someone out there can help me
I got an HTC Touch Diamond from my friend, he gave it to me and told me that it didnt work for several weeks, and that he wants to get rid of it and sold it to me for some bucks.
It never fell down, is in great physical condition etc, so i thought the problem has to be due to the rom/software.
the device behaves really strange.
- Sometimes, when i turn it on, the screen keeps black, but the rom loads, and when it's loaded, it shows the homescreen, but without backlight.
- Sometimes, after this happens, i try to do a hard-reset (voldown, center, reset) but this doesnt work at all! I know how a hard reset works and how it looks like, but it wont work on this device
- Sometimes, everything works well, the device loads his content, the backlight is on and i can flow through the tabs. That's the point when i try to flash the rom. But i cannot manage a proper active-sync connection.
When i plug it on my pc, the device manager appears (vista) and tries to sync etc.
syncing works, but the connection only last for a few minutes (3 to 5) then it shuts the conection down.
also i should say that the light of the keypad behaves very strange too. Sometimes, there is no light at all, even not when the device is off and plugged in for charging. sometimes, all 4 buttons are lighting, but the center is not. and the last case was, that only the phone-button (left down corner) was lighting, screen was black.
I really dont know what to do. I cannot manage to do a hard reset, it just doesnt work. I push the voldown and the center button, then push the reset....but the display doesnt show me what i want to see (the white screen with the warning message...)
Also, when i try to format the internal memory in the options, the phone can't do it, the rom freezes and the touchscreen doesnt work anymore.
Also updating the rom/hardspl and radio wont work right now, because i cant manage to get a connection with my pc that last long enough
Please help guys! :'( Thanks in advance!
I think you can flash the rom from the Internal Storage. Try to search for it on the ROM section. In this way you won't be dependant on the active sync connection. The only problem with this is getting it on your internal storage in the first place. You could disable the active sync and use the other option (device drive or something like that).
hi you should try this... it works for me. the problem is not the same but i think it may work for you to

G1 with no screen image, keys not lighting up. Help?

Hi everyone ...
I recently disassembled my G1 to fix the touch screen. I acknowledge that I took the phone's fate into my hands when I decided to open it up, but I had done this twice before with no problems whatsoever. If these symptoms sound familiar to you, please let me know if you were able to fix your phone.
I put it back together, and now when I power it on, I get the short vibration that confirms the power-on ... but I get no screen image, no keyboard lights. So when this first happened I pulled the whole thing apart again to be absolutely sure I hooked up all the flex cables and ribbon cables. Yes, everything is connected. Everything. I've triple-checked it now.
What I did next was a couple of tests to see how "awake" or functional the phone actually is behind that blank screen. When I power it on and let it sit a couple minutes, so that I know it has finished booting ....
I CAN:
- boot the phone in normal or recovery mode. both modes produce the blank screen and no key lights.
- view the phone in ADB. (ADB tells me "device" or "recovery" mode)
- execute commands and view files on the phone with ADB shell.
- pull files off the phone with ADB.
- make the LED light up by plugging in the wall charger or USB cable when the phone is off.
I CANNOT:
- make any of the backlit keys turn on by pressing them.
- make the phone receive a call or a text.
- make the LED light up by a missed call, text, or plugging in the charger/USB when the phone is on.
My first impression is that I've done something terrible to the mainboard so the phone is somehow in this "semi-booted" state, where it won't run the screen. Is it possible that a bad cable to the screen could cause this? Thanks so much for your help.
Come on, no one can help me with this? I know I'm not the only one who has taken a G1 apart and met with disappointment.

[Q] Help - Power Issue with LG-P999DW

Hello,
I'm hoping this group can offer a few suggestions to resolve this problem.
Situation:
My wife's LG-P999DW phone appears to be having severe power issues.
It is set to go back to Wind Mobile for a replacement. However she has photos on the device that she needs to retrieve - apparently the SD card was never initialized so the photos are stored in the phone's memory.
The phone is completely stock and was picked up new in November 2011. I have not rooted or modded the device in any way.
Unfortunately the power will not power on. The charger makes a high pitched humming noise when plugged into the phone. At this point I've tried directly connecting it via both the USB cable that came with the charger and another separate cable to my iMac.
After lots of searching on the this board I discovered that the phone does have a recovery mode (Volume Down & Power button). The phone launches the white LG logo and after about 3 seconds the screen flashes and goes blank before recycling to the LG logo again.
At this point I'm desperate to figure out a way to access the memory on this device to try and retrieve these pictures (basically pictures of a pet that passed away that were not unfortunately backed up).
Any suggestions are welcome - I'm open to all options.
Thanks
Interesting problem. If the phone is hosed, then so of course are you, so let's assume it's not.
Since you say you get some activity when holding vol-down + power, you can try to install clockworkmod on it via nvflash, boot into that, mount usb and if you're lucky you'll be able to copy the images. (If you only get this blinking when it is plugged in you can ignore the next part - you will not be able to boot into CWM.)
To try that, find a guide for P999 on how to install CWM via NVFlash (this is the P990-thread).
I would not get my hopes up, since it will not start the built-in recovery by itself then the entire internal storage may be hosed (including the partition with the pictures), but it's worth a shot.
You may even be so lucky that it's only the charging curcuitry that is damaged (I assume you get the blinking lg-logo when it's plugged in only, which a phone without a battery will do), in which case you can borrow a charged battery in a phone store and copy the images from internal storage to an external sd-card there.
If the entire power-delivery system is damaged, your only hope is to beg and beg the support people to ONLY repair the electronics and not do anything else to it (wrap the phone in a big please-note).

[Q] Startup and device driver problems preventing me from upgrading/rooting P1010

I decided to try and upgrade my galaxy tab 1010 to Gingerbread in the hopes that it would fix a problem which is that whenever I click on the power button to open my tablet (not to turn it on but just to resume from sleep or whatever), the screen lights up black and the bottom lights are on but it takes countless retries to get the thing to actually appear or it just stays black. Even a restart is not enough at times. This is causing me problems with updating because to make a CWM backup for example, it has to boot into the menu which I can no longer see after it shuts off. Sometimes it works fine, other times I give up trying to get the main screen to show up. I can click on the buttons at the bottom and get the vibration feedback and can also hear the audio going up/down when I click the volume buttons but often the screen will stay black.
The 2nd problem is that although I have Kies installed, every time I connect my device to my laptop (Windows 7), the laptop will install drivers for it separately. This is a problem because in Odin for example when I try to flash CWM on to there, after I've flashed it, it will turn off in order to reboot meaning that it disconnects from the laptop and when it boots back up, the laptop does not recognize. So to fix that 2nd problem, I need a way to install drivers on there so that my laptop always recognizes it rather than installing every time.
Thanks for any help....the black screen thing is really frustrating me and I've done some searches where others have black screen problems but their are usually different and the device won't come on at all in those cases rather than come on sometimes and not come on other times unless I try several times.
Good news is that I managed to upgrade to gingerbread with the root and it was working...Odin did the trick though still can't get anything going on Superoneclick on my Galaxy Player because it's not recognized when in USB debugging mode. Upgrading did fix the problem of the screen not coming on and staying black.
Bad news....installed bloatware removal tool, removed a few apps which I was sure were non-essentials (Samsung movie guide, visit Britain, couple more like that)....and it seems to have hard bricked. I found this tutorial on hard-unbricking but it's for the p1000, dunno if it would apply to the p1010: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312391
So gonna either try that or since this thing isn't under warranty anymore, I have to find somewhere in Mississauga Canada which will do a hard unbrick on this.

Need help getting data out of S6 with broken glass

Hi,
I need some help getting data off my broken Galaxy s6 for ATT (G920A). The screen broke down and does not come back on. To make things worse I do not have the developer options or USB debugging turned on.
I am able to hear all sounds from the phone after its turned on (including volume up and down after hitting the home button a few times since that unlocks the phone to home screen)
When I connect the phone to my pc by using the att cable, found new device shows S6 and an icon appears in 'My computer' on opening the phone folder its empty (I am guessing the phone is going to 'USB charging' option as compared to MTP or Midi)
Really hoping an expert here could give some suggestions if there is any way for me to get my photos and other data out of this device.
Appreciate all the help.
Thanks,
Matt
