use kingo root, we only have CWM for this device

What are the main differences between TWRP & CWM? And what are the chances of kingo root bricking my phone? Would i be better using Framaroot?

TWRP is a bit more up to date and functional but CWM has always been good, reliable and has the needed functions. You could try framaroot, no idea if any of the exploits will work but kingoroot worked for me and realistically it won't brick but technically there is always a slight risk

If I were to manually port TWRP to mine, how would i go about installing it? On stock rom, unrooted with stock recovery.

Well I looked into TWRP and gave up because there isn't much space for the recovery image. Because CWM is less functional and simpler it is less in size and fits.
Having said that, I could be wrong, to install it you'd need MTK Droid Root & Tools. Do have a go, we need some dev love on the Kazam Thunder q4.5

By not much space, how large is the recovery partition? I've been unable to locate it, but that may be just because i don't have root :/

I'll have a look tomorrow, it's been a few months since I messed with it. The recovery doesn't have its own partition, it's thrown in somewhere weird. It's about 7mb if I remember correctly

I know this is kinda off topic, but I ran CF Bench on this device, and its more powerful than a galaxy s3 or htc one ^.^
I've attached the screenshot below.

Anyone else noticed this peculiar package? Installed into /system/app as "user2root.apk"
Here's a screen shot, I've already tried dave79 but he doesn't know what it is either :/
If it helps, here are it's permissions used:
android.permission.WRITE_SETTINGS
android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS

Firstly, its been ages since this post, secondly, what ROM's source code did you use for compiling CWM for this device? I can't find cyanogenmod or omnirom for it and need atleast one to port TWRP
Thanks

I used MTK Droid Root & Tools, it had a method to pull the stock recovery, patch the boot and replace it with CWM

Well, turns out that TWRP has been ported to this by Dees_Troy already... Downloads/whatever on the teamwin site here: http://www.teamw.in/project/twrp2/287

I just saw this, I'm astounded. This device is so obscure yet it got official TWRP

Well, I was talking to Dees_Troy on irc yesterday about it, found out he had one, went back on irc today and he sent me a link there. Sadly, no fastboot support on this device, he says its something to do with the kernel.

I think it's because of the really weird MTK layout with partitions

Hello,
I was installed recovery + patched boot, but how can I install this system image?
Can You help me? Its really important to me, because I cant run system on my Kazam Thunder Q4,5.

thunder 2 5.0
Hi!
It is very nice to see that you are porting CM12 to kazam.
I have kazam thunder 2 5.0, with similar specs to q4.5 but with larger screen 5" and the cam being 13 Mp.
Do u think it will be possible to use it on my device (it is also a MT6582)?
Good job.
Cheers

No it won't be. ROMs are always device specific. Even if they're really close it won't work, don't flash anything designed for one device in another.

You shouldn't make a new thread every time you have an issue... ask in the Pure Stock thread.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2579270
p.s use the search button.

Actually, he (kinda) did the right thing. Before asking development unrelated questions, better open a thread in the Q&A section. I mean, that's what it is here for
But nontheless, you do have a point, too. The golden rule on xda is "Search before posting".
So @ OP, next time please search before asking, as many Q's already got answered before

[Q] Can't enable pen mode

Hi guys, first post here and that's why I dindn't post on the original development thread.
I have a Sony Xperia Z1 C6946 which it is rooted and with the 4K/120fps mod working. I have followed the instructions on the thread to enable the pen writing but I can't get the mod to work. I did try with the 3 metods and none of them work. The app does nothing (it should give a message saying it is enabled). Someone has a clue?
Good job you didn't post your QUESTION in the original development section as QUESTIONS are posted in the QUESTION AND ANSWER section.
Now, please tell us which rom, which kernel and which download link you have used to install the pen mode, because it works fine for me.

Well, I wasn't going to start a thread there, just repply to the already existing one. My Xperia has the stock room (build 14.4.A.0.108), rooted and deodexed, the kernel version is 3.4.0-perf-g0109737 Jun 12th 2014. The pen mode was installed (and downloaded) according to this thread:

I read in the cwm thread under development it's because of the kernel you get a boot loop or black screen.

Yes. Why are you using safestrap when that is a discontinued method and has been for quite some time with all threads pointing to mythools on the current way to do things?

That tells us nothing. 'A lot of errors' is not a problem that i or anyone else can fix. We need details, error codes/msgs, what the device does, etc.
Lets start there and we'll see what we can do to get you up and running.

Also is there anyway my bootstrap backup can even be recovered at this point it is still on my PC but not compatible with my current custom recovery. It has all of my contacts which I lost during flashing. If its not possible the stock is fine. Thanks for helping me it means a lot.

Custom recoveries can be used to backup/restore stock roms. However, bootstrap/safestrap was discontinued in apr-may 2013 when our bootloader became unlockable. No clue of any safestrap compatibilities. What does mythtools say when you run through the bootloader unlock script?

If you truly need help, you should expand on your problem. From your first post its hard to pinpoint what your problem is or what your trying to accomplish.
To my knowledge there is NO lollipop/marshmallow Roms or development for the flex.
If your trying to install cyanogen apps, tell us which ones , and where you pulled these apps from.
