[Q] [REQUEST] Cyanogen12 Launcher (Newest one) - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey people!
It's possible to have CM12 newest launcher on Lollipop Stock ROM? And if yes, how can i have it? Google Now Launcher is very laggy on XT1068 and i think this maybe consolidate the RAM usage imo. Well, thanks!

Trebuchet is pretty bad in my opinion, at least on my device it keeps lagging like GNL, and doesn't have so much customization, better stay with Nova.

What you are looking for is to download this from the playstore: CM Apps, then select Trebuchet.

I was using the cm rom for our device some weeks ago and besides all the bugs and stuff, that launcher is great. No stuttering and stuff we see on GNL.

Launcher Pro crashes with ICS

so I just got the update today and I'm very happy. However, I can't get LP to work on ICS. It closes everytime I try to select it and I get the msg "unfortunately, LP has stopped." Anyone experience this problem?
Its just not compatible with ics and no info on if it ever will be since the dev hasn't updated it in ages.

Go Launcher EX > Launcher Pro... By miles..
Haven't had any issues. In fact, I went back to using LP instead of ADW Ex because the latest ADW Ex update jacked up the dock and the older version has a dumb looking bar at the top of the screen, probably some weird honeycomb code. Even though LP hasn't been updated in 7 months, it's still working fine for me on ICS.
Just downloaded Go Launcher, thanks. I've been stuck on LP for so long bc of the widgets. Haven't customized my Nexus ina loooong time but ever since I got ICS, it feels like I have a new phone to mess around with lol.

If you want something similar to LP's widgets to use with Go Launcher check out APW. Free and Paid version. Or use GoWidgets.. Solid widget set though. - https://market.android.com/details?...51bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5yZHIud2lkZ2V0cy5jb3JlIl0.
I also used Launcher Pro Plus on GB stock rom.
Actually on ICS is stock launcher the best - and instead of LPP widgets you can use "Android Pro Widgets" free on market (looks exactly like from LPP)
Launcher Pro will crash on ICS if you use the calendar widget. It should work fine if you don't use that widget - that worked for me.

+1 no doubt about it
I use ADW EX it works great plus its been updated for ICS compatibility.. any launcher>LP lol
On Gingerbread, Launcher Pro is still the best and smoothest launcher. I really hope that Fede has been working on re-writing the whole app and making it compatible for ICS.
Why would u want another launcher on ics?

To make the top row useable, limit the number of homescreens, custom number of rows and columns on homescreen, resizable icons, fully resizable widgets, etc.
Go launcher is the worst.

Because all of the android stock launchers are freaking butt ugly. Especially the ICS version. It's no wonder why htc uses sense and Samsung touchwiz. Because if they tried to sell phones with stock android launchers they wouldn't sell many phones. Believe it out not, most of the phone buying world feels this way. For the most part, only the hardcore android fan boys like the stock launcher.

Just use Nova launcher -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389071
based on ICS stock launcher + lot of features (Docks, Grid,...etc) and Uber fast.
PS: And works when GPU rendering is on while GO launcher got artefacts/Gfx bugs.

Why fix it if it ain't broke? Compared to the latest versions of ADW Launcher EX and GoLauncher EX, LauncherPro runs way smoother and lag-free on my gf's G2 with GB 2.3.4 and my Nook Color with GB 2.3.7.

It cannot even change page order now, and the re-build was said last year and what we get now? Not even a word about it.
I know we cannot demand anything from a dev so I just switched to another launcher

What launcher I offer?

Hello, what launcher I offered to go very well on mini s3? So far we have used Next launcher consumes a lot of resources and I gave it up!
So what I offer?
There are so many Launchers, I think you'll simply have to try one or another.
I'm using Apex since my X10i-days. Meanwhile I bought it, my Impression is that Apex doesn't consume too many resources.
Sorry for my bad english, I'm still learning...

Oh, I forgot: I also tried GO!-Launcher but it was not to my satisfaction, that was 'too much' for me, simply overloaded.
Nova launcher is great if u want to get "stock" android experience, launcher8 if u like windows phone look, GO launcher if u want to get lots of functions.. But I like touchwiz or nova launcher the best

I'm in the same situation as you were, looking for the same solution as you did. I know it has been a long time since your last post but have you managed to find the launcher you were looking for? What is your launcher recommendation instead of touchwiz?

I've been using NOVA launcher prime for a very long time now and I would definitely recommend it, its very fast and you can customise a lot of things to make it perfect for your needs
Nova Launcher before its material desing update. You can fine it in apk mirror. its the last apk in the last page

Meanwhile, I've tried Nova Launcher but there is one problem with it: as an email app, I'm using the stock email application, SecEmail.apk. The problem is that the badge count isn't working in Nova Launcher for SecEmail.apk and I don't want to change the email app. If someone could find a fix for it, I'll gladly change the launcher.

I don't follow: what material design update? Do you refer to the 3.3 version?
Yes, that version of Nova Launcher. Works more fluid on my old Xperia L than the actual version.

If it works for you that's cool.
There used to be downsides to using 3rd party launchers. I ran stock launchers predominantly on my phones till about 4.2 (was on N4 at the time). Nowadays, I feel as though if you can have endless customizability with zero performance or battery hit, with flawless stability why not?

Google Launcher for Mi5?

MIUI doesn't have the app drawer does it?
Presumably, once you get Play installed on the device...can you install Google Now and Launcher? Does that then provide app drawer??

DAMN I want this phone now!!!! (and the hunt is on!)
Excuse my ignorance on what Google Launcher provides, but if you do use it, does it provide a largely stock experience instead of MIUI?

i was using emui (which is quite similar to miui) with apex launcher. it delivers a bit stock feeling for homescreen and app drawer, but not for settings or notification bar. but for me, it was a quite good compromise and i would do this on miui too, if i get one.
I installed Google Launcher and I'm using it. You have to do a small workaround to activate it, but it's pretty easy.
Here you have it: http://en.miui.com/thread-87810-1-1.html
However, I'm not satisfied with only the Launcher, coming from 6 years of Nexus. I am eager of someone porting the stock Android to Mi5 ASAP. I thought that MIUI improved things, but hell, everything I find is drawbacks. :S
In your experience is there any better launcher than Google Now Launcher (performance wise) ?
