Running directly off AC

I read online that the droid is able to run without the battery in? Just while plugged in AC, but when i tried it on my milestone, all i get is a empty battery gauge with a question mark.
Any ideas?
I would think that because its running from ac and not wit the battery it would give you that symbol. The question mark without the battery would be running on ac

[Q] Bypass 7% minimum battery

Is there a way maybe editing bootloader to bypass the current 7% minimum battery to turn the device on?
It is almost 10 minutes to charge 7%
Well I exactly don't know but maybe a charger with high ampere output current can help.
I have a Moto G 2014 [XT1068] [6.0]. When its battery is down to 0% and I connect it to 2Amp output charger, it boots up at 2% battery which hardly takes 3 minutes.
Hope this help. Ty
ps. I'm a noob

Moto g (1st gen), dead but can it be revived enough to backup data?

My moto g (1st gen) started just turning off randomly and then failed to restart. I tried all the tricks of holding the volume and power on for 2+ minutes but all to no avail. I purchased a new battery thinking that was the issue but changing it achieved nothing.
I checked the voltage of the new battery before I installed in and it showed approx. 3.7v but after leaving in the phone for a couple of days it read 0.00 volts, exactly the same as the old battery - any ideas what could cause this? A short somewhere? With both reading zero, i'm guessing they are toast?
I've tried removing the battery and connecting to a known good usb charger, swapped out usb cables. But noting seems to be working. When connected to power I get the single white LED I think notifying there is insufficient power to show the battery indicator on screen. With the battery in I got a screeching noise from the speaker which did not sound too healthy....
I've downloaded the moto windows software but the laptop cannot see the mobile, so no luck there.
Does anyone have any idead how I can revive it from the dead to get some pictures and whatsapp chats off it?
Cheers!
