Quickcharge 2.0 with Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet - Xperia Z2 Tablet Accessories

I've been using my HTC Rapid Charger Quick Charge 2.0 with my new Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet and it charges in just under 3 hours for a 0 to 100% charge.
Not sure what the standard charge time is with the stock charger, since I haven't even taken it out of the box Just easier for me to use the same charge and cable to charge both my phone and tablet. Has anyone else measured that?
My HTC One M8 usually gets quite hot during quick charging, but didn't notice the same thing with the Z2. It only went up to around 35 degrees at the highest, for a short while.

I need 4.5 hours with stock charger (15% to 100%).

So 2.0 quick charging is working?
Do you really get 60% in first 30 minutes with HTC charger?

Yes, it's listed here:
https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/devices/all?feature=Quick Charge 2.0

Does anybody know where to buy a quickcharge 2.0 charger with a euro plug?

No, those 60% in 30 mins is claimed with a much smaller phone battery..not with our 6000 mAh tablet battery. On my HTC One M8, it gets to about 50% in 30 mins.

Are you from Denmark? I bought mine from here: http://www.mytrendyphone.dk/shop/htc-tc-p1000-164522p.html
Not the cheapest option, but the only one with euro plug that i could find.

got official answer:
Thank you for contacting Sony Xperia Support.
To be able to utilise the Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 technology, the smartphone or tablet as well as the charger need to support Quick Charge 2.0. If you want to use a magnetic charging dock, this must also support Quick Charge 2.0.
Currently, there are no original Sony chargers that support the Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 technology. This means that, at present, you cannot charge Xperia™ devices using original Sony chargers utilising Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0.
However, some Xperia™ devices and magnetic charging docks are prepared for and support the Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 technology. Again, as there is currently no original Sony charger that supports Quick charge 2.0, these devices cannot utilise Quick Charge 2.0 using an original Sony charger.
Regarding the charge time, according to our environmental declaration a full charge takes 5.8 hours while the tablet is turned off.

Wow, a normal full charge takes 5.8 hours? Even with tablet off..that sounds a bit crazy. Then im definitely glad i'm using the Quickcharger and getting it done in half that time..even with the tablet powered on.
As for the magnetic charger, it has been confirmed in other Xperia forums that Sony's dock and magnet supports Quickcharging, but most 3rd party ones don't. I'm using some cheap magnetic connector from eBay, and it charges quite slow (and half the times the magnet doesn't even keep it connected and it keeps falling off )

from my experience tablet charges in 4 hours (even if it`s turned on, from original SOny charger 1.5A 5V), from 20-30% to full. So this estimation is correct.
Anyone can recommend a good ansd cheap charger that support QC 2.0 or there already some thread about this on XDA somewhere?

Not sure where you are from but there are several good and cheap ones on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OVD3FEU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
http://www.amazon.com/Qualcomm-Cert...obile_desktop?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0
There is not really any difference between all of them, as long as they are certified by Qualcomm to work with QC 2.0.
There's a list of all certified chargers on this page: https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/quick-charge

and here is an especial cheap offer http://www.androidauthority.com/quick-charge-explained-563838/
So... do ALL z2 Tablets support QuickCharge 2.0 ? Because only the Japanese Z2 Phone supports Quickcharge!

Cool.

My quick charger that came with my samsung galaxy s6 initiates rapid charging on my z2 table, it even says rapidly charging when I plug it in

Quick Charge Enabled?

Hello,
I recently bought a quick charge car charger for my older phone-- will the G4 be able to do quickcharge? I hope so... I mean, I only paid $10 for the charger, but I would like to still be able to use it. Thanks in advance!
the thing is the g4 doesnt actually have quick charing its just the battery it self hold more battery i should say at 100% idk if you noticed but it stays at 100% longer to 99% than 99% to 98% by like alot this is because how the battery itself is designed this was the same with the lg g3
The G4 doesn't have fast charging. You could try using your charger, though no idea how using a fast charger on a non-fast charging phone will work/affect it down to road.

The G4 does not have Qualcomm brand QuickCharge 2.0, but it does charge quickly at 1.8 amps, compared to the 2.0 amps in QuickCharge 2.0. Keep in mind, though, that the G4 has a 3000 mAh battery, which will take slightly longer to charge to 100% than a smaller battery at the same current.
An advantage with the G4 compared to the other flagships this year is that with a spare battery, you can bring it to a full charge in less than a minute.
it doesnt have quick charging but it might force a higher voltage per minutes than a normal charger. so in theory it might actually charge it faster.
eaither that or it will just mess with your battery and damage it. good luck. post your results OP. did it charge faster?
Quick charge won't work on the G4, the charger will output 2amps @ 5v like any 2amp charger. If the charger sees the device is quick charge compatible it switches to 1.67 amps @ 9v (15 watts vs 10 watts)

Is there a way to probe that my quick charger is really supplying 9v while charging? I have battery monitor but on widget it only shows mA.
QC 2.0 on this phone is a lie. According to LG that tweeted to me and this website it is QC 2.0 compatible. I have 2 compatible chargers and they charge at best 20% faster than stock charger. Qualcomm's website says that a 3000 MaH battery should charge from 0-60 in 30 minutes. With this phone of and doing nothing it takes nearly 60 minutes to do the same. Double the time!
Absolutely! I bought a Aukey and did the test from zero to full:
Stock charger: 122min
Aukey: 101min
Afaik quickcharge charges fast from zero to 60% and charge normal for the rest to avoid damage on the battery. I can't see any change around 60% in the graph.

Technically it's not a lie. The fine print on Qualcomm's website allows manufacturers to implement QC 2.0 in their own way. So it's in the phone but LG has implemented it in a way that it's crippled.
I think someone discussed this on You Tube during a review of the G4 and they stated that a update was coming to the G4 later on in the year for Quick Charging. Don't know why it didn't ship with it. This phone is not living up to the hype. I normally don't buy phones when they first drop but i just like everybody else I brought in to the promotion and I wish I would've held off. Just saying.

Slow Charging??

Hey Peeps
Anyone else getting slow charging on SM-T810?
Using the bundled charger, I am getting average of only 680mA .... Definitely nothing over 950mA and that is even when screen is off...
Using the same charger and cable on my sony xperia Z3 easily achieve 1400mA ...
Same sort of numbers with other chargers etc... So pretty sure it is device not charger...

I just tested and am getting around 1500 mA. That is with my nexus 6 charger.
Bundled charger gives me around 1460 mA.
Are you certain it`s not the app that is wrong as the S2 is new and the app might not have been updated yet, Try the Samsung charging app below, you have to keep pressing the refresh button on the free version.

The charging rate can be anything from 300mAh to the maximum the power adapter can output, the tablet will determine the amount of power it will accept, and will jump from fast to slow charge depending on how much more power is needed until it reach 100%.
Thanks guys - obviously does not seen to be wide issue.
I tried the Samsung app above ... Sort of showed similar values ....
I did a charge from 69% to full and it took about 1.5 hours... So would be maybe 5 hours to charge fully?? Unless the device does much quicker charging at very low battery??
I will do a full discharge down to say 5% and then charge from there and see how I go.
Thanks again

Normally it will trickle charge slow once it reach approximate 80%, and is normally fast if the unit is almost power empty.
It's annoying. I've tried both ipad chargers and a 2.4A charger, but it will go to slow charging mode with anything else than the bundled charger.

Yeah i have found exactly the same!! Must be some sort of Samsung handshake protocol...
There is another thread on this that I have mentions about this, just use a good quality charger, or just go for a Qualcomm QC 2.0 charger from any known brand like htc, aukey, xpower, lots to name, just searh Qualcomm site for a full list.
It won't used the QC2.0, but all should work just like the OEM Samsung one
the ipad charger should be pretty high quality though, so I don't get why it's being so picky.

If you also followed the tab S thread, it's also been mentioned, Samsung tabs S are also picky, and yes all apple stuff don't work.
Should I rephrase it and say some good quality charger will work, even branded ones like sony may not even work, but my intital testing, most QC 2.0 charger will work.
The issue is that I'm trying to find one charger that will charge both my tab s2 and my iphone 6+ quickly. Any idea how qc chargers fare with iphones? The bundled tab s2 charger only gave my iphone 0.4A (it charges the tablet at 1.5A)
I have both sony and asus chargers with included cables work perfectly with iphones and sony xperia z3 and nexus 7... Hopeless with S2.... But s2 charger works fine with them..

Odd, my old Nexus 7 2012 charger fast-charges my S2 710 without any issue at all. I had it spare as the N7 died on me (the S2 is its replacement) and was initially wondering myself as I had a few supposedly 2A chargers at home which only slow-charged the S2 (or indeed under Android 5.0.2 said it wasn't charging at all, even though it evidently was, but 5.1.1 has fixed that).
That said this is a charger without fixed cable (but with a decent USB cable) and I know from Raspberry Pi experience that the cable is almost as important as the charger for getting decent charging (ie enough current) to the device on the far end.
I would make sure the USB cable is a decent one intended for charging.
Proper charging USB cables have the shield connected at both ends for use as ground which is why they are notably thicker.

I agree, a good quality cable is required, as well as the charger itself, I'm using a magnetic cable and a reversible micro USB cable with a OEM Samsung, Aukey and Xpower charger, I don't get the speed of the QC 2.0, but it isn't suppose to as the S2 is not QC 2.0 compatible, but it does charge pretty quick, it also charges my ipod 4, and my nw-ZX2 work without any problems.
I get the "slow charging" message when using the Galaxy Tab S2 bundled charger.
If I use the charger from my Note 4 (Exynos) I get faster charging and no "slow" warning.
Did Samsung bundle it with the slow charger??
I can confirm that samsung did in fact bundle the tab s2 WITHOUT a quick charge usb charger.
I also thought the tab s2 didnt come with quick charge. I have extremely slow charge times but my battery lasts for DAYS... I can fully charge it, put it in airplane mode and check on it after 2 days and be at 98-99% battery.
I also use the quick charge cable AND the quick charge usb adapter that came with my note 5 and the tab still slow charges..
Here the same problem use Samsung charger and cable charge from 20% to 100% in 6 hrs and when use HUAWEI cable with Samsung charger It charged in 2 hrs
I guess Samsung have poor quality cable *-*

Aukey Quick Charge 2.0 Portable Fast Charger.... Fast Charging?

Hello,
Has anyone used a Quick Charge portable battery pack before? You know how when you plug it in to the wall or outlet it will say "fast charging", well I don't get that with quick charge.
Is this normal or should I be panicking?
Thanks
Which model do you have? I have the 15,000mah PB-T3 model & it fast charges my phone fine now. The battery pack itself even supports quick charge so the battery pack will charge at 9V with the Samsung adaptive fast charger or 12V with a certified QC 2.0 charger.
I say "now" cause the first one I received melted & died while charging it.
Have you tried another quality cable?

Also. You need to make sure your cable is plugged into the correct port. I am assuming you have one with two ports, either way if you do have the two ports only one of them is QC 2.0 enabled.

The dimensions listed on Amazon & most other vendors is wrong. The dimensions you gave that's listed for the PB-T4 on Amazon is the size of my PB-T3. Perfect. That seems like the best all around battery pack.
Heck, it's thicker but the footprint isnt much bigger than the LG V10 (or the Note 5 for that matter) itself.
I can carry the phone and batterypack together in my front jeans pocket easy.
Thanks again!
No problem. Yup, that's what I was worried about, being too big but as you said it's not much bigger than my N5 or the V10.
I was unlucky & the first one I got melted during it's first charge (the battery pack, not while charging my phone) so just to be safe keep an eye out on how hot it gets on your first charge. I liked this one the most out of all the others I was looking at so I took a chance with a replacement. Haven't had one problem with the one I have now.
What I like about is the most is it also supports QC2.0 fast charging & at 12v (but you'll need a QC2.0 charger to charge it at 12v & not an OEM that's only 9v max) so it's not just the output that is fast charging.
EDIT: Oh looks like I already mentioned the fast charging input in this thread.

Yeah, I was looking at that 3-port you have. Interesting that it is such high wattage, at 42W when the 5 port is only 54W. I'm wondering if the 3-Port has faster charging or something but all the QC2.0 port specs seem to be the same.

Need help with the aukey power bank
Hey i read you've been using the aukey charger.
I an looking to buy yhe same but spectical about the performance.
Does the power bank itself charge using fast charging? If so which charger you use.
How long does it take for the power bank to charge completely using the output of your charger.
Thanks
I purchased the Aukey 3.0 do to the fact that it work with both micro USB 2.0 & USB Type-C 3.0 compatible. (I won't have to buy another one next year! Lol) I have to say it's quite remarkable. Small enough to put in my pocket with phone connected using a small cable. I got from 55% to full in about 17 min. while screen was off. Takes a while to charge the unit itself (which is to be expected with 10,000 mAh) The unit itself can not be fast charged. It also will not fast charge a phone while it is being charged itself. Simply put, with a $20 price tag (now $30), you can't go wrong. Next time I use it, I'll get some screenshots & add to thread.
AUKEY 16000 mah charge time
Hi all,
Thanks for a help-full post. i bought a aukey 16000mah power bank.
When i recharge the device using my Asus charger (5v 2A & 9V 2A ) from
my phone the device does not show full charge indication. The light on
the power button flashes (Breathing effect) RED, GREEN and then
WHITE. It never goes to SOLID WHITE which would indicate 100% charge
even after plugging it in for 9-12 hours.
I have also used a Aukey 10000mah power bank and in 5-6 hours its
light status goes to SOLID WHITE.
Is this issue only with me or has anyone else faced the same? How long
should the device take to recharge itself with 5V 2A rated charger
which is also mentioned on the device's INPUT rating.
Also would like to know if the light ever goes to SOLID WHITE with other users.
Thanks
Wish one of these codes worked on the 20000mah.

You should avoid Fast Charge or anything like that. It's extremely bad for lithium polymer to be "Fast Charged" the technical behind it is look at your power brick. Anything over 5v charging is to much and will shorten the battery life. I've seen 5.3 and 9.0. I use a 4.8v 2A charger on all my devices. The lithium polymer gets forced above it's operating voltage of 3.7 to 4.1v.

No Fast Charge

I just bought a Xz1 compact. It works great except that it won't fast charge; I've tried using the charger that came with phone and another I had lying around. Is there anything I can do for a fix? I checked the battery settings to make sure none of the options were enabled. I tried disabling Battery Care, but it didn't help.

That charger should fast charge the XZ1C then. I did some searching and found out that unlike other manufacturers, Sony phones will not indicate anywhere when the phone is being fast charged:
https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-XZ1-Compact/Quick-Charge-Not-Working/m-p/1281209/highlight/true#M1178
There is an app called Ampere on the Play Store that will show how fast the phone is being charged, but it isn't 100% accurate. The best way to find out would be to simply measure the charging times from empty to full.
I have tested alot of chargers..even a 80 USD USB PD 61w. This damn phone wont charge faster than 1.6 amps @ 5v
Is it some kind of software limitation? I had the P20 and it charges fast as hell with QC3.0. 0-80% in 40mins.
I tested this Xz1 and it took nearly 70mins 0-80% with battery optimization off.
Sony claims and i belive them that battery life will last longer,, but who gives a ****. I want qc3.0 charging speed.
Charging at 5v and around 1.5amps. Ive read somewhere that the battery gets to warm charging like [email protected]
So its not adaptable, i placed my phone with its charger connected thru the window (-2 C) and it had like 2%.
This damn phone is restricted to 1.5-1.6 ampere (5v)..it wont go faster. So why is it QC3.0 cert?
This annoys me alot..isnt there a 30w charger? I guess it wont help.
Im gonna buy one of those plugs that show you amps, wattage and so on..doesnt believe the software you can download.
I believe that XZ1 Compact IS QC3.0 but battery get to warm, so they reduce charging speed...
I personally prefer no fast charge. The physically life of the battery last longer. My Nexus 6P had fast charge, it's not holding up for 2 hours now.
I have read somewhere that you have to disable all the battery saver stuff in order for QuickCharge to fully have effect.
However, even with all that enabled, my phone charges really quick from empty to full in like 2 hours.
Looks good to me.
"These devices contain the hardware necessary to achieve Quick Charge 3.0. It is at the device manufacturer’s discretion
to fully enable this feature."

The stock charger included in the XZ1 Compact retail box is only 1.5A, it isn't a fast charger and will not fast charge the phone. You will need to get a Qualcomm Quickcharge 3.0 compatible charger for fast charging.

The charger included in my XZ1 Compact's retail box was the Sony Quick Charger UCH12 which is a fast charger compatible with Qualcomm Quickcharge 3.0. It also charges my phone reasonably fast.

Interesting, what country did you get the XZ1C in? In most regions the included charger is the non-fast charging UCH20:

2 hours is BAD. 2700mAh battery fully charged in 2 hours? The Huawei P20 charges its 4000mAh battery in like 45min.
The UCH20 wont pass 1.5 amps (5v).
If you turn your device off and charging and also turn off the battery opti. i believe 0-100% in like an hour..
And for those who believe its the charger are wrong. I have tried QC 3.0, QC4,0, 61W USB-c. This device is what do you say in English.."strangled" ...software limitation..
What about the XZ2 and the XZ3? Any notification ? They use the same charger i believe
2 hours? Something's wrong. U might have the right charger, but... R u sure u have a decent type c cable? Not all of them are the same (I have some experience, believe me)

So you're saying that the XZ1c isn't capable of a fast charge?!!?

Got a recommendation for a quality cable? I have a few different ones. The only name I can remember is Brexit, but I could be spelling it wrong.
I use Aukey QC 3.0 . Work great for fast charger since I use Z3C , then Z5C , now XZ1C. I use usb doctor to check volt and ampere, 9V output and 1A++, sometime got 2A when below 15% of battery.
My device is root, and use charge limit for the life time battery.

About the charging with UCH12

Hello. I just bought this XZ1 Compact from a sale. The phone was bundled with UCH20 charger which was a bit disappointing but luckily I had the fast charger, UCH12, from previous Sony phones. I have read that this phone supports Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 so it SHOULD charge quite rapidly. However, when I plugged the phone in the charger, it was charging really slowly. I mean 4.5 hours from 11% to 95%. Should the phone say "charging rapidly" or something at the lock screen?
Anyway, then I decided to test the UCH20 that was bundled with the phone and interestingly it charges a bit faster than the UCH12. This time it took a bit less than 3 hours to charge completely. This UCH12 charger charges rapidly my previous phones so I guess it shouldn't be broken?
What kind of charging speeds have you gotten with the UCH12 charger?
Did you have Battery Care enabled?

Yes I have. Does it affect the charging speed when below 90% battery?
It shouldn't, but since you only mentioned the total charging time to full 95% and "completely", I figured it wouldn't hurt to make sure.

Ok. Next time I will toggle it off and see if itmakes any difference. Sadly this battery lasts forever so I have to wait a couple of days to test it
Just bought an XZ1 compact myself, and I'm interested in the answer to this question, too. According to the Sony site, the XZ1 compact is compatible for QC with the UCH12W, but not the UCH12: https://support.sonymobile.com/glob...-charging/02310188014550f700148fcce243e002e57
However, these posts from Sony support suggest that there are no differences between the two, other than the cables that come with them: https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xper...tween-a-UHC20-and-UHC12-chargers/td-p/1297608 https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Wired-accessories/Chargers-UCH12-vs-UCH12W/td-p/1194598
The UCH12W appears to be an international version without US-style bladed contacts, and I can't find it on the US version of the Sony store. Also, when you go to the US Sony store and search for compatible chargers based on phone model, the XZ1 compact shows *no* models, just a car charger. So maybe it's possible that the US model of the quick charger really is incompatible with the XZ1c, even though the phone does have QC capability?
I'd love to hear about a confirmed working (third party is fine) QC charger that's compatible.

Alright now I did some testing with Ampere app and with UCH20 I get 1500 mA charhing, UCH12 I get 2060 mA and third party charger also 2060 mA. This was with battery care protection DISABLED.
This UCH12 however is acting weird and makes my touchscreen go crazy. I will not be using it anymore.
