[Q] Which Modem? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6

Can anybody tell me whether the T-mobile S6 uses the Qualcomm MDM9635 (Like Sprint) or the Shannon 333 modem (version in the Chipworks teardown)?
Thanks!

I believe it's the Shannon 333 on the TMO S6 (and AT&T also)

Couple things: First is simply personal preference and fear of the unknown. Historically, Qualcomm has had the best performance on US LTE bands. The second is a second order effect: While QCOM has their own integrated GNSS, the Samsung modem does not and uses Broadcom. I've seen extensive testing of the BRCM chip and its raw performance is horrific at times (blocks off, not meters). QCOM's GNSS solution is far more robust.

AT&T doesn't even have HSPA+ support yet. A lot of places still don't even have 3G yet.
Using the speedtest.net app I've hit 4885kbps (which is a lot lower than my best results with the x10) but it is HSPA+ territory if I'm not mistaken.

That sounds about standard download speed for 3G. But alas you didn't say if that was up or download speed. Hspa+ territory is 22mb and up I think. Don't feel like looking it up again so I may be wrong entirely

The only things that AT&T currently sells that are HSPA+ enabled/capable are those USB dongles for internet plans. Some are even LTE capable.
Hmmm, not really an answer to the question though. I've been all over the forums and Google trying to find out if there are currently any modem releases for the Captivate that will enable / support HSPA+ speeds.
There is no consensus. Seems that some folks think that HSPA+ is just having HSDPA and HSUPA enabled on your device with the likes of the TLJL3 and other modem variants that enable HSUPA.
Others say that there is no currently available modem that supports HSPA+ speeds. So I ask plainly, which is it?
If there is an HSPA+ compliant modem, where do I get it so I can port it over and get rocking and rolling?
Huh? No responses?
Is the answer just that obvious, or does no one know the answer?

To translate this manglish: I have a Galaxy Captivate for the past 3 weeks and nobody has been able to unlock this fantastic device.
.. have you read the Q&A? Or tried the 1-Click found in the Dev forum using the SEARCH feature?

[Q] How do I enable HSPA now that I've flashed to 2.3.4 on my Rogers Captivate?

Just finished flashing my Rogers Galaxy S Captivate to 2.3.4 with the ROM in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1233620
From what I've read it's a stock AT&T ROM. I backed up my APN settings using the "APN Back and Restore" app, seems to have worked just fine. Phone works, internet works, everything seems to work just fine.
However, on my stock 2.2 I was getting HSPA. I've read around the boards and it seems as if the stock AT&T ROMS don't have HSPA ability out of the gate. Can anyone recommend a solution for getting my HSPA speeds back?
That would require an I9000 kernel/modem combination. And I do not know if that would work on that firmware. Pretty sure it won't.
Oh I did read about that, but wasn't sure if it would work with this firmware as you have pointed out.

You are both correct from the reading I've done as well. The i9000 ROM's allow both HSDPA, and HSUPA(4G). The i897 ROM's make use of the faster DL speeds just as the i9000's but do not allow for HSUPA, but they enable the use of the Audience Chip, which gives better call quality than the i9000 ROM's.

in AT&T's eyes it does. at least thats what they like to trick their '4G' customers into thinking....

It's AT&T's version of "4G". It's really only the addition of the higher Upload speeds. Nothing changes regarding the DL speeds. In my area, upload speeds go from about 500-700kbps to around 1700kbps
Thanks for the help everyone, I appreciate the info.

1) XT862 is cheaper and has better 'support'
2) XT860 bell has only recently been available at negrielectronics, the OEM version is still not available.

Well... ROMs? I don't know whether droid 3 ROMs will work on the XT860. (Does steeldroid work on XT860?)
Yes Bell's version is close to OEM, however it's more expensive. Also, you will probably receive motorola updates faster on the OEM version.
yeap, the reasons are the ones mentioned by DoubleYouPee.
but until a CUSTOM ROM appears, the Verizon programs are there to annoy me ))
and some minor advertising appears when opening email for the first time...nothing very disturbing.
well...strange is that if you select GLOBAL mode in the phone, the phone does not find network (or mine did not find, for the first couple of minutes), but if you select GSM/UMTS, the phones works perfect.

Good contact, fast delivery, Droid3 i got unlocked, in box with phone i found
notice with unlocking codes aslo.
So I did not have to spend extra money on phone unlocking codes or purchase
To phone price you must add ~48usd for delivery and ~tax (here in Poland tax was 75 eur)
best regards
Thanks guys for all the info.
Please, correctme, if I am wrong with this:
XT860 could be rooted via psouza tools
then I can freeze motoblur apps (unless somebody changs the script to work for bell I will have to do it one by one manually)
then I am fine

That is correct if you mean Bell apps. I have not done extensive freezing so far, so I am not sure yet what exactly you can freeze and what not.
We are stuck with Motoblur unless the bootloader gets unlocked one way or another.

from other posts I understood that fixing this is just a matter of some settings in text configuration files, so this should be possible to fix on XT860 as well - or am I wrong?
I don't know, maybe someone can answer this.
Ok, I am not sure but I own a Droid 3 and use it in Germany. The signal quality is definitely not as good as it has been on my Milestone 2.
Do both XT860 and Droid 3 use exactly the same Hardware GSM Module? I believe I saw somewhere that the XT860 has 14.4 mbits and Droid 3 "only" 10.2 mbits.
What do you think?

I highly doubt that it really works. Don't you think that it's just the Nexus' DC-HSPA+ being referred to as 4G in Android?
It would make sense, and it's also capable of up to 42 mbps
Anyway, did you modify anything?
Running a custom or stock ROM?
You really made me curious, though. Especially since there is in fact an, obviously not active, LTE chip in the N4.

The aspect ratio is the same as if it was 1280x768. It's most likely just a downscaled screenshot.

Verizon's LTE is Band 13 (700 MHz), Telus LTE uses Band 4 (2100/1700 MHz).
I have no problem admitting I'm wrong about this if it can be proven.
