[Q] Stuck in boot loop on T-Mobile Galaxy S6 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6

Hey all,
I'm a noob when it comes to rooting Android phones and everything that comes along with it. This morning I attempted my SM-G920T using the Chainfire auto-root method (downloaded an application called Odin v. 3.07), got my phone into Odin mode, and did everything that was required. Then the application log just got stuck at " NAND Write Start!!!" and wouldn't go from there. Ten minutes pass, and I reboot the phone into Odin mode, and then download a different version of Odin (3.10.6 I think it was). I used the same tar.md5 file that came with the first Odin 3.07 and used it with this second version, 3.10..6. This time, the log ran the long list of commands and ended with a PASS!! Then, on the phone's screen, a little blue Android guy with an eyepatch appeared and ran another list of commands. It looked like SuperSU got installed. But that's where the excitement ended. Now my phone won't even boot past the "Galaxy S6 - Powered by Android" logo. It just keeps booting over and over again, to that same screen, and I'm not sure how to undo or correct what I did! Any info and help on the matter is definitely appreciated.

Boot into download mode again and retry, make sure on Odin 3.10 nothing is checked. Let it download and when it's done, you might have to manually reboot like I did because it looks like it's stuck on download mode.. just hold vol down home and power til it resets.. after it resets if will launch chainfire, and will reboot a couple times, don't touch it til it's fully booted.

Wow...that fixed it! Thank you so much!

are you sure this is correct verbatim? when i re-ran with auto-reboot and F.reset off, odin failed. and then it kept failing even when i tried again with them checked again. had to try a bunch of times to get odin just to pass again. now it has (w/ auto-reboot checked), and i'm back to this boot loop thing, going back forth between a blue android character screen and a b&w S6 Edge screen (yes, i have an Edge, but am guessing they are similar for this purpose). Thanks.
sorry! i should add that i gave up on chainfire and rooting here, what i'm describing is simply using odin to go back to stock. i just want the phone to work again.

Try 3.10.6 of Odin, it is currently bundled with cf auto root. 3.10 did not work for me either.

Hi.
I flashed the wrong recovery image, with the flash app. Now my S6 hangs up at the boot. Only the screen "Samsung Galaxy S6 - Powered..." was shown. I cannot turn the device off. I can press Vol- Power and Home, the S6 restarts and hang up again. I try also to get into the download menu, but it won't work. Any idea? Now I wait for the battery is empty and try tomorrow again to get into the download menu. But maybe somebody has a better solution for me?

Bricked?! Halp!

Got an at&t tab here, I upgraded to JM6, flashed the modem, and rooted it, all was well, untill I realized that I couldnt get into recovery to wipe. So I went into d/l mode, and couldnt get out, loaded up Odin3 and attempted to flash the bell modem again just to get it to reboot. Well it froze up, and now all I get is a communication error picture: "phone ----- !-----PC"
Help please, its brand new and going to be sold
From my experience you can power off the unit, put it in dl mode again flash the Bell modem with no partion, no pit and with reboot selected and it should do a regular startup!

I lost d/l mode. But somehow the second time I attempted to flash JM6 with odin, while seeing this error message, it worked. So its working again.
But I have no recovery anymore is this normal?
UPDATE. Seems after JM6 I have no recovery and no bootanimation(have sound). I get a black screen with a thin vertical line on the right side of the screen. Any advice would be great
The phone --!-- computer problem is solvable.
Power off your phone, and power it back on with holding the volume down button, when you see the --!-- sign release the buttons.
You are now in download mode, although you cant see the little android with the shovel. Connect it to a pc with an odin 1.7 open and you will be able to reflash it.
When I got the error picture: "phone ----- !-----PC" after messing with JM6, I just reflashed it at that screen with the full JM6 package. I dont think you can downgrade from JM6...
I just flash pit file at the phone ----- !-----PC screen then when it reboots it will boot loop. Turn it off then hold vol down and power then when the screen turns on let go of power button but still hold vol down. That will get you in download mode. You can downgrade form JM6 but you have to try 3 to 6 times before it will work. JM6 to jj4 then at&t rom is how I do it.

Cmon guys, read the thread. I got the error fixed, now I have no recovery or boot animation.
Does the tab boot up at all? if it does you can try and do a factory reset from settings and see if that clears it up. You will loose all your settings and third party apps but this seems to be a requirement after flashing

Tab boots up fine, everything works, I just have no recovery or bootanimation, the sound plays for the bootani, just no picture.

You need to tell us what filename you flashed and what .pit file if any you partitioned with.
It sounds like you flashed P1000OXAJM6.tar without partitioning which is probably not going to work.
Never put the phone into download mode unless you have a file ready to flash.
Flashing the file in my sig will probably fix your Tab.

I followed the instructions in the OP of the JM6 thread, and flashed the files that I was linked to in the OP. I checked the box to partition. After I flashed the bell modem as I am on At&t. Then I rooted via SuperoneClickv1.5.5.
Now I have no recovery or boot animation.
I was already d/ling your file to check if that fixes anything.
Ok I tried your(rotohammer) file, and still no luck, it did save me from the root proccess tho.
adb reboot recovery, and adb devices will show the device is in recovery, but I have a backlit screen with a thin line down the right side of it. Which is the same thing I see during boot, after the at&t image.
At startup I will see this screen untill I press the lock button twice, first time shuts the screen off, and second unlocks as normal.

[Q] SGT did not reboot

After flashing 2.3.3 from stock, odin shows PASS. However, I was expecting tha tab to reboot automatically but it didnt. What should I do? It's still in DL mode. Odin is still open too.
well, I tried to flash again and it restarted now.. On to the next step!
I got the bread!

just wait till complete booting it take 5 - 7 mins
thanks for the reply.. i waited 10 minutes but it did not boot. the tutorial video on you tube shows the tab booting immediately after firmware flashing.
anyhow, I flashed again, and my tab booted immediately after.
I actually had this problem too...but instead of flashing again (Not even sure what this exactly means), I manually rebooted it...is there a way to go back?
flashing again means, after flashing firmware, my tab did not reboot and is still in download mode. what i did is to close odin and open again, and repeat the firmware flashing without turning the tab off. if you did turn the tab off, try going into download mode, and if odin can detect your tab, just flash again. and please, carefully read and reread the instructions.
hit thanks if I helped.
This doesn't matter too much...but is it normal for the Tab to say things about restoring operations upon boot up?

hmmm... either i didn't have this or i didn't notice.
anyhow, as long as your tab is working and has gingerbread in it,
If you happen to use the firmware file with the dbdata iwhen you reboot the first time you will see on the screen that the dbdata is loaded.....
Did you have reboot option ticked in ODIN. Simple thing but its the simple things that are the biggest stumbling blocks....

auto reboot was ticked by default.. but looking back, on the second flashing, I decided to "untick" then "re-tick" auto reboot. hmmm..

[Q] Bricked phone? flashed SlimICS through Clockwork

hey all, i've had my captivate for about two years now, and for a while i used cognition, then for the last year i've been using firefly. firefly has completely destroyed my phone's speed and responsiveness, and i needed to clean everything off and start with a minimalist ROM. so i picked slimICS.
i'm still very hazy on the details and terminology of flashing ROMs, but i got two to work (i remember using one-click root thing in 2010, and then in 2011 i flashed firefly through clockwork) so i figured it shouldn't be a problem to install slim, which i figured would be my last ROM until next year, when i'd get a new phone.
so i backed up my stuff, tried to get into recovery mode with the 3 buttons (didn't work, unsurprising since it didn't work last year either), took out my SIM, went to CWM, and selected the flash rom option. this restarted the phone and sent it into recovery mode--except it was the stock recovery, and i couldn't select anything because i think firefly made the phone think it was the i9000 model from canada, instead of the i897 captivate, so it assumed i had a physical "ok" button on my phone (which i obviously do not). i tried the power button, the various capacitive buttons on the bottom, nothing would select any of the options, so i just took out the battery and put it back in. the phone immediately booted into the CWM recovery menu, in which i selected flash ROM, and scrolled down to choose slimICS.
i let it do its thing for a while, it jumped between the AT&T white logo screen and a screen with scrolling text for like 5-10 minutes, then just stayed on the AT&T logo screen for another ten minutes. i should have left it for maybe a half hour to be sure, but i figured the install failed. i couldn't get out of this so i pulled the batttery. and now the phone is bricked (soft i hope). if i hold the power button it goes to the AT&T white logo, flashes briefly for a half-second and goes back to the screen, then stays there indefinitely. no button combinations seem to work. does anyone have any suggestions?
thanks!
Since you backed everything up, I'd suggest flashing a stock rom via Odin or Heimdall to clean everything up before moving forwards.
You can flash a non-bootloader one to be safe, or if you want to make sure you can flash anything, flash a package with Gingerbread bootloaders.

how do i flash anything in my phone's current condition? it doesn't turn on fully. it's stuck at the white AT&T logo.
Turn it completely off (pull the battery, if necessary), then hold V+ and V-, and insert a USB cable. That should put it in download mode. Once you're there, you can flash a stock rom (There's a stick with those roms in the development section).

doesn't work. as i mentioned in the OP, i can't get into download or recovery mode or whatever. these button combos have never ever worked with this phone. for example, holding + and - and inserting a cable with ODIN open has never done anything. that's why i used clockwork.
Sounds like u r gonna need a Jig. If u are on a pc, click on my sig link below and there u will find a link on how to make a jig and/or where to buy one.

is that guaranteed to work? or is it most likely? or is it unlikely at this point?
The jigs that I have made myself in the past and as well the professional made ones that I have purchased have always worked to get me into download mode.
The jig is worth a try, I suggest you should
if I'm reading the op right, and if memory serves firefly was an I9000 build and button combos are different. My suggestion would get the Odin kk4 one click with repartition and WITH boot loaders from 4-2ndtwin's sig links, open that and while powered off and holding just the vol- button insert the USB that should do the trick. I9000 builds use different boot loaders with different button combos. Since you will be flashing a boot loader package be aware this is when you can truly hard brick your device. Be sure you have a good connection and cable before starting. If you still can't get into download mode I can +1 on the jig. The jig and 4-2ndtwins one click has saved my bacon more than once.
ok so i bought the jig, and good news: it gets me into download mode! yay!
problem: i don't know where to go from here. i've tried the following:
A. after getting into download mode, i followed the ODIN method here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350266, meaning i flashed the gingerbread bootloader update (nothing happened to the phone, which made me confused when i got to step 7., because i was STILL IN download mode), then flashed the speedmod kernel (which reset the phone, but it just got stuck in the "SAMSUNG CAPTIVATE i-897" white text on black screen, forever. i had to do a battery pull. turning on the phone goes to the same screen and then it freezes. trying to hold all three buttons to go into recovery mode alternates between that screen and the white AT&T screen, actually alternates, forever if i let it.
B. after that failed, i tried using the 2.2 Heimdall one-click (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1266172) but the file, when run, says
Code:
ERROR: Drivers Not Found
Installing drivers
but i still followed the instructions (except the instructions say "Install driver" but the actual button is "Replace driver"?) in any case, this does nothing. and then checking off "Flash bootloaders" and doing it again does nothing. the phone remains in download mode.
C. so i wanted to try one-click downloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989, but nothing pops up on the ODIN window when i plug my phone in. i can't even do anything.
please help!
please, does nobody know what to do?
Take a look at the "Captivate Connection Issues" thread for some more things to try. At this point, it sounds like you need to clear all the phone drivers off of your machine and reinstall them.

thanks, that worked! (it was my laptop that was the source of the connection issues i think; i tried all that stuff in the thread, but when i switched to the desktop, all of a sudden ODIN recognizes the phone!) i got my phone to flash ODIN one-click. so now i'm back to stock 2.1 eclair.
however, much to my dismay, i still can't get into recovery mode to (re-) root. the three button combo still does the weird flashing thing, where the white AT&T logo shows up, then the screen goes to black, then the AT&T logo, then black... ad infinitum. how do i either 1) enter recovery, or 2) re-root the phone + get a nice, lean, fast, modern ROM on it without going into recovery?
so far this thread has helped me unbrick the phone, now all i need is to update it from stock!

I could be wrong but when you do the 3 button combo it sounds like you are continually holding the buttons which will cause it to keep looping like you describe. Starting with your phone off hold down all three buttons. The phone will show the white ATT screen. Then if you had a custom kernel it would show the kernel splash screen, in your case you said it just goes black which is fine too. Then you will of course get the white ATT screen again. As soon as you see the white ATT screen again release all the buttons and that should boot it into recovery.

i tried various durations of holding the buttons. none worked. 2nd AT&T logo, nope. 1st black screen, nope. 1st AT&T logo, nope.
Your gonna have to get ADB set up on your pc. Then... "adb reboot recovery" will get u into recovery mode.

Attempted to Root, stuck in bootloop

I followed this thread, but now I am stuck in a bootloop
Easy Steps for Note 4 N910T
Recently upgraded phone to Lollipop as well, 5.0.1 I believe. Is there a stock ROM somewhere I can flash back to?
This is what I posted in that thread:
--------
Alright... stuck in a boot loop.
0. Samsung drivers, CF-Auto-Root-trltetmo-trltetmo-smn910t, COD6-COG2_SD_Write_Fix_Mod_TEKHD, openrecovery-twrp-2.8.1.1-trltetmo.img.tar, and twrp-2.8.7.0 downloaded
1. Samsung drivers installed
2. Open Odin as admin
3. Phone in download mode (reactivation disabled) > plugged in via USB
4. Selected CF-Auto-Root-trltetmo-trltetmo-smn910t.tar.md5 in Odin, clicked start; phone automatically reboots and continues to reboot--yes, I saw the red android
5. Pull battery for hard-reset; turn back on in download mode
6. Phone put back in to download mode
7. Selected openrecovery-twrp-2.8.1.1-trltetmo.img.tar in Odin, clicked start; phone automatically reboots and continues to reboot
8. Unable to copy the COD6-COG2_SD_Write_Fix_Mod_TEKHD.zip on to internal SD; error on computer pops up and says it cannot be done.
I am able to boot in to recovery mode and see the TWRP menu, but since the write fix.zip isn't on the phone anywhere I can't do anything.

I'm able to see the lock screen with the pattern, but after unlocking it goes blank. I'm able to bring up the menu by tapping the left button and picking an app that way, but I'm unable to get to the actual home screen. Able to pull the notification panel down, but anything I click on from in there will automatically stop running and error out. Back button doesn't seem to work.
OK, so after I used Odin + N910TUVU2DOK2_N910TTMB2DOK2_N910TUVU2DOK2_HOME.tar.md5, I was unable to get past the lock screen (pattern for security).
Managed to get in to Settings on the phone and just formatted the bastard.
I still want to root my phone dang-it
OK, second time around I managed to get the phone rooted all the way. Not sure what stopped it the first time, but I was able to root the phone. Hooray.
The only difference between the first and second attempt to root was that the phone was put back to factory on the second attempt.

Verizon Galaxy S6 Edge stuck on boot logo

Hello,
I have a Verizon S6 Edge, that I need help with. My phone was working fine and yesterday, all of a sudden it turned on, and is now stuck on the "Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Powered by android" screen. It does not go past that. I can't even turn the phone off. I just have to wait for it to die. The phone has never been rooted and I've always just done OTA updates on it. I went to a local Best Buy to get it reflashed with the latest firmware but that still hasn't fixed it. I cannot access the recovery menu, only the download mode. I can also access maintenance mode which gives the option for Normal Boot, factory reset, safe mode, and USB Debugging. I have tried all those options but nothing different happens. I have downloaded the latest firmware from XDA and tried to flash it with ODIN and nothing happened there either. Any help is appreciated, I just don't want to throw my phone away. (I bought it last August)
Thanks!
I have the same problem, but i live in Mx and i can't find the stock rom anywhere. I hope someone can help us.
Hey, sorry to hear you're having issues.
Have you tried contacting Verizon or Samsung support yet?

did you by chance use a pit file for odin as well as a full tar?
you could have messed up the partitions..
try to repartition it using odin or you can always try samsung smart switch emergency repair option etc.

I didn't use any PIT files or anything. I just downloaded the stock OK7 firmware and put that in AP on odin, plugged my phone in under download mode and the update seems to go through fine but it still just boot loops. Doesn't go past the Galaxy S6 Edge screen. However, when I did that, there is now a padlock on my screen when it boots up and it also says custom under it and system status also says custom.

something is not right then.. check the download md5 and what odin version you running?
custom padlock should go away after fresh install of a full odin tar which should be ~1.9gb zip before extracting it

I downloaded the stock one and installed it. Ithe was 1.86 GB. I put the md5 in the AP and that's it. Ithe downloads fine and installs fine on the phone but it just won't go past the boot screen and still has the custom padlock
