Adaptive Fast Charging Battery Pack - Galaxy S6 Edge Accessories

Hey everyone. I'm looking for a battery pack that is adaptive fast charging compatible. I've looked on a bunch of different places tried several different ones that listed quick charging compatible but they did not charge my phone fast at all.
Is anyone able to help out? Thanks

Samsung adaptive fast charging is also compatible with the more common "Quickcharge 2.0" by Qualcomm. It's basically the same thing. I have seen some quickcharge 2.0 battery packs.
Here's one by incipio: http://www.incipio.com/ces-power/quick-charge-portable-backup-battery-6000-mah.html

[Q] Quick Charge 2.0 confusion

Hi guys!
I recently switched from a Samsung galaxy s5 to a nexus 6. It's been more than great, really. Why did I ever buy galaxy phones?!
I'm confused over quick charge 2.0 and compatibility with other chargers and couldn't find any proper information on the subject.
At the moment I own:
- Aukey 5-port 35W Charger
- Tecknet 6-port 50W Charger
- Anker Astro E5 15000mAh battery bank with 2A + 1A ports
- Large assortment of other single port chargers @ 2-2.4A from Samsung, ASUS, and several aftermarket brands.
All of these chargers, and the battery, delivered (tested with the Ampere app and tons of different cables) ~2A to the galaxy but only deliver ~1A to the nexus 6. The Motorola turbo charger obviously works as intended. Now my questions:
- Does quick charge 2.0 limit any non compatible chargers to 1 amp?
- Is there a way to mod chargers to at least get back 2A charging?
- Worst case, does anyone have experience with a recommendable battery bank and multi port chargers that support quick charge 2.0?
Thanks!

I'm using the franco kernel at the moment and as far as I can tell it doesn't have any options related to charge speeds. I'll look into other kernels.
Thanks for the info!

Why would you need options relating to change charge speeds? Qualcomm quick charger works on any kernel, if you're talking about USB fast charging, it's already enabled in Franco kernel.
There isn't a need to switch to other kernels.

@zephiK You misunderstood my question. The problem I'm looking to solve is the slow charge rate from the chargers in the original post.
To add to that. My macbook also charged my old galaxy phone @ 2amps but with my n6 only does 500mA.
Nothing wrong with the turbo charger

Laptop USB ports at limited to 500mah output unless its a dedicated charging port with USB 3.0 then It can push 1.6A so I don't see how that's possible to charge at 2A from a laptop.
@Pilz this is irrelevant. My 2014 macbook pro charges my old phone much faster than the nexus 6.
Refer to the original post for the topic at hand
Quickcharge 2.0 devices uses the data pin on usb to determine if the charger connected is a quickcharge 2.0 charger. The devices you are using do not have this capability so they charge slower. I do not think this can be changed kernel or phone side.
Thanks! I guess I'll have to replace the chargers/battery

I could be wrong S5 I looked up uses usb3.0 right? Does your macbook have usb3.0? If so then the usb 3.0 port can supply more current when detected being a usb3.0 device by your computer and ever more so it is possible for the mac to output a little more current. Can you plug in the S5 then open system profiler to look at USB device tree to see current being delivered? The nexus 6 only using usb2.0 would not get the same treatment by the comp and only receive the max standard of .5 A.
There are many details about the actual max current that can be supplied by the computer's ubs port that I don't know when they are applicable I've just stated reading so I'm not sure why you can get 2.0 A on your S5 and not less, since there are standards that set the max current. Even more complicated is that under certain conditions macs have their own heirarchy of supplying more current to some devices if they "say they need" more current and even then there are limitations. So again I'm not sure what is at play exactly, that determines why the S5 gets more than usual. The .5A is normal for current output on USB 2.0 in the nexus6.
I actually got this in the mail yesterday, and the wall chargers works great...Havent have a chance to test out the car one though!

That doesn't make sense which is why I went into some detail about laptop or any computers USB ports. I unfortunately had a MB Pro and hated it, and it never charged any of my phone a at 2A including my wife's old S5. I don't have it anymore so I can't test it again to verify. The person I quoted below explained it a little better than I did.

Qualcomm doesn't post every certified charger on their website. In would email the manufacturer and ask for their certification or a picture of it which most will show you assuming on they're legit.

It is technically incorrect for the phone to accept more than 1 amp on a 5v charger. The quick charge *protocol* negotiates a non-standard charge voltage (up to 12 volts!!!). Quick charge is actually BAD FOR YOUR BATTERY! The higher the current, the greater the temperature. The greater the temperature, the lower the battery life.
Unless you *need* it to charge that fast in an emergency, don't.
I've never even plugged in the charger that came with mine, and I don't intend to.

I've used QC 2.0 since I bought my phone during long days and my battery life is just fine. My battery is cooler during QC than when using qi charging so I disagree. Generally speaking you're correct, however the battery would need to get hot and stay hot which is doesn't. QC 2.0 tapers off the voltage and current overtime to a more "normal" amount. Your argument is an old and doesn't always pertain unless your phone is constantly hot.
You're battery degrades overtime anyway and any heat could speed that up. I used to live in AZ where it gets to 120+[°F] in the summer which is hotter than my battery ever gets even using QC from 1% battery. Quick charging won't hurt your battery any more than normally charging it will. There is a cut off for the temperature it will let your battery get before it drops voltage or amperage which will work whether the what is from charging or the environment you are in. As I stated above qi charging will make your battery heat up more (in my case it does) I will post screenshots to back that up if you would like.
Lastly no one is expecting a battery to last 1-2 years without losing capacity so why worry about it? Your phone is warrantied for at least 1 year (I have moto care on top of the regular warranty) which will cover any battery issues. There's no need to panic or make an issue out of nothing.
Now can we please let this argument die? I keep seeing it and its getting rather old. Even if it does (which I'm not saying it does) degrade slightly faster its not a big deal for the aforementioned reasons. Let's get back on topic here people

Quick Charging

Does the LG G4 have quick charging?
I've heard that the LG G4 has quick charging capabilities, but I haven't been able to get fast charging like on my note 4 so far. I'm using an OEM Samsung Note 4 Fast Charger (which activates fast charge on Note 4). Time from near empty to full is around 1:50 for me

I bought 3rd party Quick Charge 2.0 adapter, while I haven't really timed the charging time, but it is definitely faster. I will try to time it next time, but heard that it should take about 1h and 40 min.
Yes it does. The charger that comes with the LG G4 is a standard charger though.
I purchased the Anker 18W quick charger and it charges my G4 substantially faster than the stock charger which I used for a few days prior to receiving the Anker. I haven't documented the charging times, although the difference is very noticeable. I'm using the stock USB cable because it is longer and I like the nubs which aid in inserting the plug in the proper direction.

Samsung Fast Charger is not the same as Qualcomm Quick Charge.
Yes it supports qualcomms quick charge abilities. But many reviews online show it's slightly slower than Samsungs fast charge and it can be very picky on adapter used.
The G4 does have quick charge capabilities. It is very quick to charge, however if you don't use the stock charger it most Lilley won't quick charge. However I have noticed with updates the range of adapters it accepts has increased.
Hope that helps.

As far as I know, the stock charger which comes with the LG G4 is not Quick Charge 2.0 capable, and won't utilize the LG G4 quick charge 2.0 capability. You need to purchase a Quick Charge 2.0 charger.

Every article back in May stated that the LG G4 didn't come with a quick charge 2.0 charger, including my purchase back in July. Every post I've read on xda, others have had to purchase a quick charge 2.0 charger to take advantage of the LG G4's quick charge capability. If you have one, it would appear that current LG G4's are coming with one stock in the box, if you got yours recently. Others can confirm whether this is the case.

Or maybe the user that claims to have stock quick charger in the box, can show us a picture with specs info that is printed on the AC Adapter.
The stock charger I got was 1.8mah output max. Using battery monitor widget, the best utility for this type of thing, it would max out at 1800mah. Not bad. Full charge in about 1:45.
I purchased a tronsmart quick charger, and the max charging amperage measures 2100mah. Full charge in about 1 hour. Good times.
The charger that came with mine is 1.8mAh. QC2 is 2.0mAh. Also, QC2 has to be enabled in the kernel, which to the best of my knowledge, it is not.
That said, a QC2 2.0mAh ac adapter does speed up charging some, but not at the speed s of true QC2.
Since the H811 is one of the few variants with an unlockable bootloader, I had hoped kernel dev would help us out. :\

Also, please clarify what in that screen shot confirms QC2.0? Thanks

Cool. I think they must have enabled it in 81110n. In 81110H I would get a warning from the app that my kernel qas not qc 2.0 enabled. I think it was with Ampere. I no longer see that message. I have the Aukey qc 2.0 block.
Of course it is pretty much a moot point for me now. I got into Wireless charging with a Yootech tag and charging puck

I've never really timed it but it is not bad at all. And the convenience of just plopping the phone on a puck is so nice compared to screwing with the micro-usb plug. Wish we had usb-c.
With wireless charging, I was able to get ~800mah. So far less than wired charging for obvious reasons, but not bad.
maH are far more useful a measurement. But it does taper down as % battery full increases.

Wireless 3.0 Charger recomendations?

WHat is a good wireless charger for the Edge phone? I prefer not to alway connect with the cable......
Choetech has a few fast wireless chargers listed on Amazon.
1: Single Coil - Pad-type
2: Single Coil - Circle-type with Smart Lighting
3: 3 Coils - Pad-type with Smart Lighting
I was researching this yesterday. What you have to remember about wireless pads is that typically a 2.0 pad will charge similar to a Non fast Charge 2 plugin-in charger. So like a standard charger. Once 3.0 ones are out I assume it will be a similar scenario. Hopefully some day down the line they will be just as fast as their plugin counterparts.
As far as those links above, 10w max isn't very strong considering a plugin 3.0 is about 18w and even a 2.0 is 15w. So 10 watt seems pretty dinky for a wireless still. Still I guess better than the old 5 watt ones.
Tronsmart is making a fast charging capable qi charger which should be nice. I used to have a TYLT VU (angled qi charger) for my Nexus 6 that as great. I would buy an angled one because it's easier to see your phone on and impossible to not have it charge.

Correct. You can also buy a "QC 2.0 Adaptive Fast Charger" like this.
please use the Samsung original or certified third-party 18W QC 2.0 adapter as its power source.
Already got one on order so maybe will get this too. Keep in mind that still this will NOT charge as fast as a 3.0 18w direct plug. Not sure why that ends up being the case, but that is what I have read.
BUT::: Lower down on the order page it say:
"Fast Charge Model(10W Output Max) ONLY "
So does that mean if you have an 18w source it still only delivers 10w to the phone? Seems hardly worth it. I sent them an inquiry about this. (it's not listed on their website)

if you could do a compare with the plug-in 2.0 charger, that would be great.
Hi guys, I'm new to wireless charging, and I'm a bit confused as to which wireless fast charger I should buy for the S7...is there anything different about the wireless charging on the S7 than the S6, Note 5, etc.? Are there new chargers coming out soon that are somehow better than the ones currently on the market? I'm just wondering which charging pads would give me the fastest charge. If anyone could shed some light on this for me, that'd be helpful

Well now that there is a report that the s7 and s7e do not support quick charge 3.0 (sad) I'm not sure what's what.
I have this one: www.amazon.com/Wireless-Charging-Pad-CHOE-Qi-Enabled-Adaptive/dp/B016DAFUGY
Works REALLY well for me, charges a lot faster than the old Nokia DT-900 pads I have scattered around the house. Choetech is sending me their newest model to test, so I'll have a writeup for it here soon. Maybe a week or so?

That looks like a good one. I have a pad already, If I use one of the new power supplies will the charge fast, or need to upgrade the pad????
You'll need to use a Quickcharge 2.0 plug, to have it fast charge. It's not going to go any faster if you use a QC 3.0 unit though.
This is what I have now

quick/fast charging

Can someone tell me what the charging specs are? I have seen all kinds of different info on the web. Will the note 8 benefit from a qualcom quick charge 2.0 or 3.0 charger or is the phone's quick charge completely proprietary?

Benefit, will fast charger at the device's specifications. I use Qualcomm fast charger 3.0 in the car and I get fast charging.
If I remember correctly, Samsung is equivalent to Qualcomm 2.0 speeds.

No Fast Charge

I just bought a Xz1 compact. It works great except that it won't fast charge; I've tried using the charger that came with phone and another I had lying around. Is there anything I can do for a fix? I checked the battery settings to make sure none of the options were enabled. I tried disabling Battery Care, but it didn't help.
Is your charger Sony Quick Charger UCH12?

It's definitely the same shape. No model # tho.
The stock charger included in the XZ1 Compact retail box is only 1.5A, it isn't a fast charger and will not fast charge the phone. You will need to get a Qualcomm Quickcharge 3.0 compatible charger for fast charging.

That's quite cheap of them. The other charger I tried would fast charge my LG G5. Shouldn't it do that same for the XZ1?

That charger should fast charge the XZ1C then. I did some searching and found out that unlike other manufacturers, Sony phones will not indicate anywhere when the phone is being fast charged:
https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-XZ1-Compact/Quick-Charge-Not-Working/m-p/1281209/highlight/true#M1178
There is an app called Ampere on the Play Store that will show how fast the phone is being charged, but it isn't 100% accurate. The best way to find out would be to simply measure the charging times from empty to full.
I have tested alot of chargers..even a 80 USD USB PD 61w. This damn phone wont charge faster than 1.6 amps @ 5v
Is it some kind of software limitation? I had the P20 and it charges fast as hell with QC3.0. 0-80% in 40mins.
I tested this Xz1 and it took nearly 70mins 0-80% with battery optimization off.
Sony claims and i belive them that battery life will last longer,, but who gives a ****. I want qc3.0 charging speed.
Charging at 5v and around 1.5amps. Ive read somewhere that the battery gets to warm charging like [email protected]
So its not adaptable, i placed my phone with its charger connected thru the window (-2 C) and it had like 2%.
This damn phone is restricted to 1.5-1.6 ampere (5v)..it wont go faster. So why is it QC3.0 cert?
This annoys me alot..isnt there a 30w charger? I guess it wont help.
Im gonna buy one of those plugs that show you amps, wattage and so on..doesnt believe the software you can download.
I believe that XZ1 Compact IS QC3.0 but battery get to warm, so they reduce charging speed...
I personally prefer no fast charge. The physically life of the battery last longer. My Nexus 6P had fast charge, it's not holding up for 2 hours now.
I have read somewhere that you have to disable all the battery saver stuff in order for QuickCharge to fully have effect.
However, even with all that enabled, my phone charges really quick from empty to full in like 2 hours.
Looks good to me.
"These devices contain the hardware necessary to achieve Quick Charge 3.0. It is at the device manufacturer’s discretion
to fully enable this feature."

The charger included in my XZ1 Compact's retail box was the Sony Quick Charger UCH12 which is a fast charger compatible with Qualcomm Quickcharge 3.0. It also charges my phone reasonably fast.

Interesting, what country did you get the XZ1C in? In most regions the included charger is the non-fast charging UCH20:

2 hours is BAD. 2700mAh battery fully charged in 2 hours? The Huawei P20 charges its 4000mAh battery in like 45min.
The UCH20 wont pass 1.5 amps (5v).
If you turn your device off and charging and also turn off the battery opti. i believe 0-100% in like an hour..
And for those who believe its the charger are wrong. I have tried QC 3.0, QC4,0, 61W USB-c. This device is what do you say in English.."strangled" ...software limitation..
What about the XZ2 and the XZ3? Any notification ? They use the same charger i believe
2 hours? Something's wrong. U might have the right charger, but... R u sure u have a decent type c cable? Not all of them are the same (I have some experience, believe me)

So you're saying that the XZ1c isn't capable of a fast charge?!!?

Got a recommendation for a quality cable? I have a few different ones. The only name I can remember is Brexit, but I could be spelling it wrong.
I use Aukey QC 3.0 . Work great for fast charger since I use Z3C , then Z5C , now XZ1C. I use usb doctor to check volt and ampere, 9V output and 1A++, sometime got 2A when below 15% of battery.
My device is root, and use charge limit for the life time battery.
