[App] Older Ai Type keyboard 2.2.0.4 works better than the current ver-on our Droid - Droid Ultra Themes and Apps

Yet the newest version 5 has many bugs on our Droid. The suggestion bar will not show in a browser. The resizer disappears after using. The newest version erases the backup when you reset to defaults while not so with version 2.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aitype.android
Update v2204 is attached.
I just tried all day & 100% indeed. Nearly anyway, I can't get the personal shortcuts to work. The current Play emoji plugin works.
The resizer works even in a browser.
Makes me question what happened with development after v2. Lollipop is a good guess.
Installing F-Droid & keep the app chooser "open" letting you choose F-droid or Play. Then just touch the screen to kill the app of the day.
Be mindful of the cut button in the middle of the 3 mode bar. It will clear a long comment with an inadvertent touch. There is an undo in the utilities button.
Bugs
Also "expand the textbox" kills the suggestion bar.
Sometimes the suggestion bar hides & you must close the KB with the back Navigation key & reopen by touching the input field.
The ”make it my own"/urban experience (lol WTF is that) is neat to get the popup & key pressed color to linger- I always thought to popup went way too fast & still does with this mod but lingering key color is better than the popup. Trouble is with all these screen mods it is easy to out-type our processor. Edit disabled the popup completely-just the key fade is better.
I have attached this popup-less settings backup with some other mods.
I included my backup settings to put in Android/data.

In Play store there are poor reviews for the new version (good reviews for this version) on our phone! On most phones the reviews are poor for the newer versions.
This top row has a 3 mode button for numbers, special characters or editing-a delete key & much more. As mentioned above the cut key can be a disaster at times but I have saved my posts with undo key from the 3way button.
Click on ai.type.zip.txt & copy Mega link to download.
Install but do not launch/open.
Don't bother with setup helper by launching the app after install. Next go settings/ language & input, enable the app, put the backup in sd-android/data, Go to settings, language & input, settings, prediction, restore data.
You need to disable (settings/app/) the stock keyboard & reboot too.
Download F-droid from Play, to stop the app of the day nag.
Do not select a default. Do nothing, just tap the KB to clear.

This is still my fav KB, the copy, paste & other editing buttons being right on the top row is nice when the auto appearing ones won't show themselves.

[APP] StatusbarToggle | Toggle (show/hide) Status Bar for Honeycomb ROMs

If you use a Honeycomb ROM on your GTablet, you would have noticed that the bottom status bar in Honeycomb is persistent and no app seems to be able to get rid of it. Well, this is a feature of Honeycomb which allows you to use a device without hardware button for function like "Back", "Home", "Menu", etc.
For many users, this "persistent status bar may not be a problem. But if you feel like that status bar is "cramping your style" (perhaps you have a movie scaled perfectly for the GTablet and you want to watch it in it's full screen glory) and you know that the GTablet hardware buttons gets you where you want to go, you now have a way to getting rid of that status bar.
dima_tr @ TabletRoms has developed a small app which toggles (show/hide) the Honeycomb status bar at will. He has shared this app along with the source code at TabletRoms (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=App-to-toggle-Statusbar-in-Honeycomb-works). I have merely mirrored his work here in an attempt to share this with the community here at XDA.
Once installed, this app does not create any icon in the launcher. To use this app, you have the long-press the "Search" button". Upon doing so, you will see a pop-up with a list of apps with "Statusbar Toggle" as one of the apps (see the first screenshot below for an example). Selecting Statusbar Toggle will toggle on/off the status bar. You may choose the make this the default action for the Search button long-press action.
As of Flashback Alpha 7.1, this app is included in the ROM update zip.
IMPORTANT:
Please note that this app requires "root" permissions since it does something which is not exposed by the "official Honeycomb API" (i.e., it is not something Honeycomb ROMs allow developers to control).
This is a Honeycomb specific app and will not work on other versions of Android.
I take no credit for this app. All credit goes to dima_tr @ TabletRoms.
Though I have personally tested and used the app on Flashback 7.0 and GTabComb 3.3, I (or the developer) take no responsibility in the unlikely event that your GTablet blows up and wipes you clean off the face of the earth. Use at your own risk. Have fun!!

SCREENSHOT [Honeycomb Without status bar]
Works like a champ, thanks for the heads up
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I am posting this from my GtabComb 3.3 with 1024x27 extra pixels...
Brilliant, +1 for the link.
Thanks
I am on Flashback 7.1 and it works the first time, but after that it brings up a blackscreen with StatusBarToggle across the top, and the statusbar at the bottom. I am not locked but have to hit home to get out of it and the statusbar is always there. As I said it is gone the first time, and if I go in to settings and applications and clear the default settings it works the first time again.
yes! this is something i've been on the lookout for. thanks.
Sweet!

Sometimes, you download an application because you find it interesting and then finally, it don't need or like it or more (it arrives very often), or you have just changed of rom, of version of Android. I've got a lot of apps, between my changes of terminal, the articles of test for a French blog etc...It's really easy and fast to download some free apps.
In brief, for the most ancient, you must have an important download history :silly:
For awhile now there’s been a way to delete the free crapware from your download history, but not many users are aware of the feature. For your benefit we’ve provided a handy step-by-step guide to getting rid of the apps from your download history that you’re confident you won’t be revisiting in the future.
On first you need the last update of Google Play Store apk, which is 3.10.9, Especially don't say “why I do not have do it earlier ????”. For the simple one and good reason which this functionality is very recent.
=> Open the Play Store App on your device.
=> You’re going to be presented with a list of all your currently installed apps, and below that you may see a list of apps ready for update.
=> Tap the options button in the top-right corner of the screen and select ‘My Apps’ from the drop down menu.
=> Swipe from right-to-left to bring up the ‘All’ screen.
=> From here you can delete the history of any free app you have downloaded. Simply tap the circle with a line through it above the word “Free” in the app list.
=> If you want to select multiple history entries just hold down on the app until you feel the short vibration. Then go through the list and select the other free apps you want to remove.
=> Tap the circle with a line through it in the top right corner if you have multiple items selected and you will be prompted to select ‘OK’ or ‘Cancel’ to confirm your removal.
You’re done! The app list should now refresh, and it should be missing whatever you selected for removal.
Maybe it will be long for some download history. Mine was new and fresh after 2 hrs :victory:
And don't forget to rate for this thread -
Thanks

Quicknav and Quick Settings Questions

1. Can I remove the text from the Quicknav bar in any way? Just leave the icons?
2. Can I get a separate link to the 'Quick settings' page that I can get to by pressing the top right of the status bar (around the battery/clock area - it gives me the wifi toggle option). Using NTMM, the actions for the Statusbar are 'default' but I do not know what the default option actually is. And if I can remap it to the quicknav bar for instance.
Cheers

OK, as a compromise I have done this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
To do this, I backed up the apps that I wanted to change, then decompiled them on my PC, changed the app name and the main icons, recompiled and signed, and reinstalled. ( I had to uninstall the old versions first). For gmail,, I edited the apk in the ntgappsattack folders, and reapplied this patch from nookmanager again (no uninstall necessary). After mapping the apps to the quicknav bar (using ntmm), a reboot is required to update the bar.
FYI, the apps are L7, Opera mobile, Coolreader, Gmail and ES file explorer.
To remove the names, I could remove the app names, though this is not perhaps the best idea (though doable... if in doubt rename the apps a different number of spaces, so they have something... for instance my L7 'Home' app name is actually '_Home_' so as not to confuse teh system with the Nook 'Home', and the name will stay centred.

Best Customization Tips : Pixel NavBar

Now, the following section may not seem like a huge deal due to the fact that there are numerous applications on the Play Store that promise to change your navigation bar without root. And they do not work, many users report that these apps are buggy in certain apps like Chrome, when playing full screen video, or some games. Furthermore, many of these apps require you to enable an Accessibility Service to monitor apps to know when to re-color the nav bar, which may reduce performance. Finally, if you rely on these apps for too long, then you may be suddenly surprised to see them stop working when Android O rolls out because the next Android version is killing the ability of these apps to draw on top of System UI elements.
The method that we are using is based on Google’s implementation of the nav bar tuner, so it has none of these issues. However, there is one issue currently that we want to be upfront about: if you choose to follow this method to modify your home button, then the long-press home button action will no longer work meaning you can’t quickly access Google Assistant from the home button anymore. If you’re okay with that, then here’s how to change the icons on the nav bar.
The first thing you will need to do is download the icons that you want to replace your default nav bar keys’ icons with. I’ll be providing download links for you to grab the Google Pixel nav bar icons, but it’s up to you to find your own icons if you want anything else. You’ll need the icons in the PNG format, and as for the size, you can determine the size of the icons you need by looking up your device’s display density metrics on Material.io and correlating that with an icon size reference chart.
Credits for the extracting these Google Pixel nav bar icons goes to XDA Senior Member dariomrk. Download this archive if you have a 1920x1080p display and this one if you have a 2560x1440p display. Extract the contents of either zip file into a folder called “NavIcons” on the root directory of your storage.
Once you have the icons in the appropriate place, enter the following ADB shell command (warning, it’s a long one):
Code:
adb shell settings put secure sysui_nav_bar "space,key(4:file:///storage/emulated/0/NavIcons/back.png);key(3:file:///storage/emulated/0/NavIcons/home.png);key(187:file:///storage/emulated/0/NavIcons/recents.png),space"
What this command does is replace back, home, and recent keys with KeyEvents that do the same function. In particular, back is replaced with KEYCODE_BACK, home is replaced with KEYCODE_HOME, and recent is replaced with KEYCODE_APP_SWITCH. These key codes perform the exact same function, but because we are using KeyEvents, we can specify what icon we want to use for them. In this case, we are pointing towards the back.png, home.png, and recents.png that we saved in /NavIcons.
However, by replacing the stock keys with KeyEvents, we lose the long-press home ability because currently there is no way to recognize long-press events of simulated key inputs.
I realize that right now, this method might not seem ideal or easy to implement, but at the time of this writing the Custom Navigation Bar app has not been updated to support adding your own icons. For now, my method (which is exactly how that app works, and when the app does get updated, it will face the same limitation) is how you can get whatever custom icons you want on your nav bar.

[TUTORIAL] How to bring back Google Discover App Shortcuts

For some of the categories like Sports, Weather, Finance, etc. you would have seen a prompt like the one above on the Google Discover feed.
If you choose 'No, thanks', you may not see it again. Google app doesn't provide a way to add these to your homescreen (only Google knows why) if you change your mind later.
One way to bring back the prompt is to delete Google Play Services data, something which is often NOT a viable option. If you have paired your smartwatch with your phone, you shouldn't delete this data as it holds the pairing key for your watch. You'll have to factory reset your watch, pair it again with your phone and redo all the setup on your watch from scratch. For me who is having 300 apps and watch faces installed on the watch, with no way to backup and restore the data, this is an option that is untouchable.
HOW TO BRING THESE SHORTCUT PROMPTS AGAIN?
1. Open a Chromium based browser with Google as it's search engine.
2. Open Incognito (Private) tab.
3. Type Sports (or any category whose shortcut you want to add) and start the search.
4. It will open the Google Sports web app in the browser and the prompt to add shortcut will show up.
5. If you click on Add, you'll see this:
6. Click on Leave. This will then give the option to add the shortcut to the homescreen:
I have seen that this launcher prompt above doesn't always show up (not sure if this is because I already have this shortcut on my homescreen). In that case, close the incognito tab, open a new one, and go through the steps once again and it will show up.
Tested to work on Android 13 on multiple devices.
7. The shortcut on your homescreen will now open in Google app (not the browser that was used to create it), and this is what we want.
Hope this helps.
