[Q] Forgot pattern lock - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I assigned a pattern lock and I wanted to make a more complicated one.. and well, I simply forgot the stepps to it. So now, I can't unlock the phone, I kept trying all ways possible, after 5 failed attempts it tells me to wait 30 secconds. So I kept trying but I'm not getting a sign in with google promt, it just tells me to wait 30 more secconds. I tried pressing the soft reset button next to the sim tray and that didn't help.
Everything I found on google says that after 5 wrong attempts I'll be asked for my google id, but I'm not getting such a promt. I even went to Android device manager and tried to put a lock password to it but it says it already has one.
I'm on Lollipop by the way, 5.0.1
How do I get into recovery mode to factory reset it, I'm having trouble finding that too.

have you tried repairing the phone with the pc companion?
[pc companion => support zone => phone software update => repair my phone]

Doesn't Device Manager let you factory erase the phone?

[Q] process android

I have a rooted Gt-P1000 it crashed and now right from factory reset it keeps saying process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. I can get onto the internet through going back through the initial set up screen after reset. I can also download something to get a download failed to get to my files. All system files fail to restore.
I have no working menu settings and process android fault constantly appears. I also get process.com.android.setupwizard has unexpectedly stopped. I have searched the internet and found no answers.
I went and bought a new pad only to find z4root does not work any more. And oneclick is an unopenable file!
Hence i have an unrooted pad that is as much use as a chocolate fireguard and a rooted one that is corrupt. The unrooted one is crap as i work in saudi and need to run market enabler, which wont run here unless routed. Please can someone give me an UPTODATE METHOD OF ROOTING, TELL ME HOW TO FIX FAULT, THANX!
Do a hard reset: switch off the tab and boot into recovery by holding volume up and power button. choose factory reset.

Already done loads of resets, as above - after reset i still have all the above problems!

Issue After ROM Restore - Factory Startup Service

Since using the Sony Update Service to restore .434 Firmware back onto my phone, any method now results in the following messages to be displayed on the first boot of the phone.
Factory Startup Service, with two options Power Off or Use Phone. If I click use phone, then the phone allows me to run through the standard Sony setup, although sometimes it will reboot. I notice up the top corner an icon with two overlapping squares, when I swype down the top menu, the message says max checkpoints reached.
Anyone know if this can be fixed, with a service menu or similar.
I have tried, Sony Update Service, PC Companion repair phone, factory reset, have now even tried to restore other ROMS using root and CWM Recovery, tried formating cache and delvik then factory reset . All have the same issue.
After the next reboot, the two overlapping squares at the top are gone, and the phone seems ok to operate.
Any help or hints would be greatly appreciated, or if I have unlocked something special then spill the beans. I have attached the screen shot.
I had it too when i repaired my phone but it was only for one time and it disappear.
What i did is turned off my phone when this message showed up.
Try to repair the phone again and on first boot wait till this message show up and click in turn off than reboot the phone again and clear the notification.

It's nothing! Like a boot up process in pc, it checks for all functions are working as desired after the new firmware upgrade, it creates checkpoints so that every operation should be successful for it to complete! When everyois done (it should and it will) it'll ask for a restart (power off) so that the message can disappear. If u don't want, u can use the phone right away (use phone)! It's doesn't bother you until you flash firmware next time!

Cool thank you for your replies guys. I have never seen this sort of message before with any of my other android devices. I work in IT and max checkpoints reached is not a good message, it typically means that if you have a problem you will not recover from it, I was worried about the possibility of a bricked phone.
Nothing to worry about!

I have my sony xperia e c4 says the same thing only this message does not disappear finished, restart my computer and still appears and when you press the button off said failed.
I have restored the program and as usual sony
I have xperia xa f3111 with same message / problem , it stays I can't remove it.
I tried to flash phone again. Message stays, is there someone who knows how to remove this ?..

Weir flash / memory problem on my m8

I just got and m8 from Cl, it was cheap and I was told the phone had a software issues so I took the plunge.
The phone seems normal, its pack o apps and you can play with it, then I decided to do a factory restore, but it failed (after the reboot it goes to a error screen showing a phone with and exclamation mark)
I tried the same from hboot, same result..
Tried to unlock bootloader, it appears to work but after boot the phone I still the same (loked and with all the user info intact )
Tried to erase the user accounts, it works, I can do a new setup of the Google account, but after restart the phone goes back to the initial state (user accounts are back)
I am not sure what's going on, but it looks like if the memory was protected and after every reboot it goes back to the original state.
Any suggestions of what to do? I am starting to see of there is any way to get warranty thru htc,
Thanks in advance.
The phone is in 4.4.2, can't take updated (it reboots itself on the process)
The phone with the exclamation point indicates the stock Android system recovery is installed. You could try and install TWRP recovery, at which time you could install a custom ROM. My only other thought is to run the RUU for the latest system update. If that doesn't straighten out your issues, something else is going on. Hit the link below and follow the instructions for the manual system update. This is the non-HK RUU. If you need the RUU for the HK version I can post it, also.

Thanks, I tried to install twrp but it fails, the bootloader is still locked and won't unlock, is there a way to install twrp without unlocking bootloader?
Will give it a try with the RUU, when tried to update thru fastboot it fails, it starts to do all the file checks and it just send you to the "press the power button message" , but no update was perform.
You might give this a try to get your bootloader unlocked and TWRP installed. There is no way around it. You have to unlock the bootloader first before you install TWRP.

Thanks a lot for the help, nothing has work so far, the phone keeps having random reboots and every time it comes back its like it load an old backup, havent been able to do a firmwware upgrade (from android over wifi, fastboot, or windowsPC).
Is there an utility to test hardware? (possibly memory)
thanks
At the end I contacted HTC support and after some test I was told my phone was still under warranty and I got and RMA (great service)....
Thanks a lot for the help...

Huawei Mate 20 Lite stays black and ob pc it Shows "USB SER"

Hi,
So I had a Problem that my huawei (Working Phone) soft bricked himself over night. It was on his charger over night and worked fine on this evening... on the next morning I want to check my calender and the phone was already on the huawei logo... I think ok it does a reboot and locked himself. Than I forced off the device with power + volume up. Reboot instant after that and still stucked so ok I am soft bricked now. After searching a bit on Google it sad delete your cache via recovery. Problem I can't enter recovery or eRecovery only fastboot is available. Going into fastboot try the hisuit from huawei with the result phone not supported. But after that try on the white fastboot screen stand's "entering recovery mode..." so i let it do his thing... After many hours I came back and there it was the emui recovery. I decided to only clear the cache and boot. Again soft lock on logo... After that I tried again fastboot -> hisuit that doesn't work that the phone says entering recovery mode... -> but nothing happened...
I came back after the next work day...
The screen was black and I can't boot it anymore (still lie on my desk since first soft brick so yeah I am 100% proof the display will work) I plugged it in in my pc and it says now USB SER typical driver not found error code from windows...
IT will react when I force it with power + volume up only with dc from pc and reconnect in USB SER
Anyone any ideas to fix this hard brick?
Model: SNE-LX1
FRP and Phone locked
Stock Rom on it !
And If it possible I will let it as stock as possible (as I said it's only a work phone!)
Thanks for all the help !

Huawei phones just aren't what they used to be... Some time ago their unlock policy vanished into thin air, then came alligations of spying, a trade ban in the US, and I've even heard rumors about them trying to make phones brick themselves after installing custom software. ?
Sadly, I can only recommend to stay clear of their devices until this whole situation improves...
I actually have the same issue, my phone downloaded the latest update and I scheduled it to auto update at midnight, next morning when I woke up,was surprised coz my regular alarm (from phone) didnt woke me up,so I grab my phone and saw it was dead, but it was full charge, then it didnt open anymore, and I tried to do all the reset or hard recovery technics on the net but it still is bricked. If I plug it on a computer it only says usb ser.. I guess its how the company makes money by destroying their own system,so you'd buy a new one,coz you cant access your data or all your files from the old one,so you would buy a new huawei again,to retrieve your files.
USB SER is testpoint mode. Idk how, but you have closed the service mode contacts. In general, this is solvable, in the service it should not cost a lot of money.

Pixel 5 Android 12 Beta 1 - Bricked Phone - Please help :(

Pixel 5 here
So I updated to the beta and the pixel launcher kept crashing (couldn't even swipe or open app without the screen turning black and pixel launcher crashing) after the install until my phone kept restarting and said I needed a factory reset.
I factory reset the phone but when I go to set up the phone again after entering my wifi info the next screen asks me to "Copy apps & data"
if I hit next it asks me to connect my old phone, which I don't have an old phone. When I select "Can't use my old phone" a message pops up saying that I can restore data without my old phone by signing in with my account. I hit ok and it asks me to verify my pin? I factory reset the phone, why would it ask for that?? ANyway I enter my pin and and I'm back to the Copy apps & data screen.
Only other option is "Don't Copy". If I hit that It puts me in an infinite loop of verifying my pin, then back to the Copy apps & data screen.
Any help would be much appreciate, totally lost. Knew I should've not installed the beta :'(
Exact same problem on my 4a 5g, I cant even unlock my bootloader now.
