where could there be an exploit for root? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

Just wanna put a thread together for where you think a root exploit could possibly be found.
I think it could be found in samsungs themer. Due to the fact it has access to the framemork.res
Please fell free to tote your ideas around.
I'm no developer just want to here what other minds think.

I think you along with anyone else who post here is in way over their head nevertheless it doesn't hurt to try. I read somewhere that Smart Manager has just as much access as Knox
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using XDA Free mobile app

I know I'm over my head, but even if I can't find root. it may help someone with better knowledge than I. somewhere somehow.
I think this thread is going to be better than...
I got my edge or I'm waiting for my pre order

https://www.exploit-db.com/platform/?p=android
https://www.exploit-db.com/platform/?p=linux
Would be two good places to start

Plus the sooner Samsung sees that an exploit has been found they will be quick to fix it especially if it's posted publicly. :good:

If @geohot was still around I'm sure we would have something by now. His towelroot worked awesome. Now if some one could take his towel root apk and maybe try and his app and maybe try a few exploits until one works that could be something.

I just did, though, there are rumours saying that something is wrong with, too lazy to dig in, but it does the job, flawlessly I must say.
Yes you can, but theres a lot discussion about kingo root

It will root your phone, but will collect and send a lot of data to China in order to do so.
Kingo claim that they no longer collect your IMEI, but say nothing about device ID/serial numbers etc that they have been caught sending unencrypted to their server before.
I do not trust them at all and the fact that their app is currently not allowed on XDA says a lot.
Edit - Also, the guy saying he is too lazy to find out what is wrong with the Kingo app is just the sort of person that creators of malware rely upon to both use and propagate their apps. Laziness is no excuse to use and recommend use of questionable software, ever.

Dude, you sound butthurt really, I did not recommend it in the very first place, I just said that it does the job, and in my case, flawlessly, I don't know about you, but for your kind information,, I have been using doomlord method since the good old x10 days, but recently it doesn't work, so, I have no choice but to resort to kingo, what other choice do I have left? Well maybe there is, but kingo happen to stumble upon me. I never did said that he should be doing the same, but since he was asking, and I happen to have gone through it, I just said it, I even said that they were kind of suspicious, but just wanna let you know, the way you reply doesn't help that much either.
Thanks, and have a nice day
I really don't care what you did to your phone, but suspicious software that is banned from this site is not 'flawless'.
I posted merely to make sure that anyone with any sense that viewed this thread knew of its suspicious nature and stayed away from it.
Finally, just because you are unable to follow the simple instructions for DooMLoRD's method for rooting 67, doesn't mean it doesn't work. It works just fine for me and thousands of others.

I don't know what you think you proved by linking that thread. It's the same one I linked you to already.
The final post in the thread is by gangsterjoop, a moderator, saying that the tool is not allowed.
Please go and read it again. Carefully this time.

I also miss the old days, when this place wasn't overrun by people that are unable to comprehend things properly before trying to score some sort of worthless victory over somebody that actually knows and double checks what they're talking about before they post.
Edit - I reported that thread as it appeared that links to Kingo had been left in the OP by mistake. The links have now been removed.
Hopefully this will stop the spread of it until they have stopped collecting data from their users.

You have an unlocked bootloader. Why are you using dodgy tools to root? You could just flash a modified kernel.
Honestly, I wonder why some people are actually members of this site when they do things like this....

I'm not going to comment on all that dev drama crap. It sucked. I'm over it. Anyways KR is still kick ass for me and so I'm staying. I'm kitkat spolied. We can't get any AOKP or cynagenmod so this is the tip of it. The sad thing is that a talented dev screwed us and himself on the donation front. Damn I said I wouldn't go there......my bad.
Sent from my Note 3 "Ghostwerks style".....using your mom's hacked AT&T wifi.....dig it?
I plan on staying with KitKat even though my favorite rom is gone. Not sure what to think about the situation but I guess my phone will continue to run KR5.6 until I find something better. I think it is unlikely that Note 3 users will get anything better than what we saw with that particular dev even though it was a pretty shady situation.
Just my opinion...
Can somebody please send me a valid link to kr5.6? Maybe Dropbox or something just so I can experience it? I wasn't around to grab it b4 the drama or whatever was going on

With @graydiggy...X-note 12 runs fine. Speaking of which, wonder if there was really a "kernel" issue with X-note 13 or if the guy needed a donation to get it fixing.
Oh wells, like someone else said on this thread. Someone will figure out the porting process and take care of us AT&T users.
I'm still using KR for now until a better KitKat ROM is out. I wasn't experiencing any issues except a messaging fc when using the pen to show a preview. I was able to fix this by flashing another ROM and using titanium backup to backup messages and flash back to KR then do a restore in titanium. So I guess I'm staying for now.

My apologies.
When I get some time Ill check out your thread and work.
Thanks in advance for providing the community with your work.
The reason it gets brought up so much is because people actually did care for his work and it's sad that he tarnished his great work but now this gives us all an opportunity to try other devs great work..just wish we had a flash able kit kat rom that can be flashed via the new safestrap..my computer is actin up and don't want to risk my pic shutting down in middle of an Odin flash

[Q] Ok, we have root. How do we keep it?

Serious question. I've had root on my android since the day the Evo came out. This long wait for the S5 was killing me. Now that we have root, what precautions do we have to take to be sure we don't get an update that will kill it? I seem to remember a program called fota killer or something like that for the Evo. Do we need that (or something similar) for the S5?

There is an option in SuperSU called Survival Mode. Check that Box and that should keep root for you even through and OTA.
Additionally find the software update service in Titanium Backup and freeze it.
