3200mAh Battery for Nexus 5 - Nexus 5 General

(Cross-post from Nexus 5 Subreddit : http://www.reddit.com/r/Nexus5/comments/3563p9/3200mah_battery_available_for_nexus_5_on/ )
Hi everyone,
I was looking through the Nexus 5 batteries on AliExpress and found the following offers for 3200 mAh nexus 5 batteries:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Phoe...or-LG-D820-D821-Google-Nexus/32331365093.html
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/High...-LG-D820-D821-Google-Nexus-5/32314356073.html
Has someone already tested these? It seems to be created only for the Nexus 5.
It could be really nice to have a 40% increase in battery life just for 10$ !

Considering the price, it would be great if this worked. Do you have the link to reddit thread?

Added to post above but there is no interaction yet I'm trying to find someone who tested it !

Nice find Any volunteers ? I wonder if the battery actually delivers this capacity since it is the same size as the 2300 mAh battery ? We´re talking about +900mAh extra capacity in the same size ? It sounds suspicious to me but on the other hand, if the battery actually delivers the capacity, it will save me trouble of having to modify a Polarcell 3200mAh battery made for a LG G2 in order to be usable in a Nexus 5

My experience with Chinese batteries goes back 3 years ago when i was not satisfied with my Gnex's battery , and tried a dozens of batteries , Some was decent and the other was horrible . Some claimed to be 2430mAh (original is 1750mAh) and some was not that greedy and stayed with 1800~2000mAh .
All of the batteries i tried shared one thing , Which is they failed to last 75% of the time the original lasted .
And please look at the size of this and compare it with the lg g2's

But who was manufacturing typo!!!!!!
2300-3200

Anyone tried this product yet? It says 15-30 days to get here. Wondering if its worth it or if the battery exploded on anyone? Does the battery hold a charge? Is it really 3200mAh?

Is it possible to use this size of battery? If can then it will be good :good:

I ordered it yesterday, it was shipped tonight. I wonderwing about the comments of exploding because it's a chinese battery. Nearly every battery comes from china.
Maybe the manufacturer have a website: http://phoenixbattery.com.pk/
If it is PhenixS

This one claims to be 3830mah. Something is fishy http://m.aliexpress.com/item/1759436097.html
One of the purchasers left feedback in Russian and says the battery is not 3830 mah, but does not mention the actual capacity.

Yet he gives 5 stars? This seems to be rather strange. I've heard of sellers reimbursing unhappy customers in order to have the 5 stars, maybe this happened here...

Keep us informed !

Unless its whole new battery chemistry or a physically bigger battery its all scams.
LG already crammed the most it can cram using Li-po chem in to the physical size limits.

Of course this is a scam or a typo.

My Nexus 5's battery is absolutely outrageous now for only a 1 and a half year old phone. Won't even last till 12PM when fully charged at 7AM. I might give this shot when I have time (Exam Season )
I think there was a guy on the Reddit forum saying that the extra 3200MAH wouldn't be impossible considering that the G2 battery (which was 3000mah) would still fit in the N5. And it's only a 7% increase in nearly year and a half, not completely rubbish. Battery might be a bit bigger I think.

Anyone who's made the mistake of buying these types of batteries before will tell you: they are not the capacity advertised.
They probably aren't even 2300mAh. They also have a higher chance of exploding.

anyone actually received the battery and tested it yet?

That web sells fake batteries. I bought one for my iphone saying it was 2800mah and it was a used battery (more cycles than mine... And mine was 3.5 years old) with 1420mah

ah... thanks. Good to know.

If it is the same size and thickness, then it's going to be the same capacity, unless it is based on another chemistry. You can also weigh the battery to see if it is any heavier than the stock one. I tried some aftermarket batteries for the Gnex back in the day and when I weighed them, they actually weighed less than the stock. Which shows that it is of less capacity than the stock. From my experience, stock batteries are already at the battery's size and weight limits.

Is there a battery available for the HD2 with greater capacity than the stock unit, that fits in the same battery slot? I'd like to upgrade without having to replace the back cover or use a bulky addon.
I purchased an Andida 1600mAh battery on eBay about two months ago. It has a six (6) month warranty, and fits my HD2 US version without any problems.
So far, I've been happy with it. It lasted through an entire round (4.5 hours) of golf yesterday powering the GolfLogix GPS application, and for me it routinely lasts several hours or more longer than the T-Mobile US stock battery.

Sorry, I can't provide a link. eBay only shows purchases won over the past 60 days, and I bought my battery prior to that. However, I did save the battery's packaging. The website for Andida is:
http://www.andida.hk
The ID number for my battery is: GB/T 18287-2000, if that helps.

Is 1600mAh the largest battery available without changing the back panel?
Screen shots of the "official" extended battery with the kickstand make it very unappealing. Before I switched out of my Dash, I bought a replacement battery at Radio Shack. Same size, but better specs - 1100 mAh instead of the stock 900 mAh. Nice improvement. Been checking RS online, nothing yet.

i also purchased the same andida battery from hong kong via ebay. increase in battery life was noticeable but not by that much. however, the battery is quite a steal in terms of pricing considering you need a backup or second battery.
I have a different perspective on these extended batteries: I actually prefer the one that adds to the overall device thickness! I have always been concerned about these very thin devices - you can easily crack the display. An extended battery gives the HD2 more robustness.

Only took 7 days to receive. Fits fine, works fine. After 2-3 charging cycles (as was stated on the eBay page), I'm clearly getting more charge time from this battery than the stock battery.
Plus, you get a nice little tin case

Good find, but I am quite sure it wouldnt give actual 2300mAh. But still, for that price I wonder how much improvement it actually has over stock. I remember the 1600 mAh at best gave about 1400 mAh or there abouts. I would not mind if this gives even slightly more than 50% of the stated capacity. Please let us know if anyone has tested this.
Hell, I'm getting paid in 2 days, and sending my HD2 to repair then, when I get it back, I will buy this battery and review it for you guys.
Though I doubt it's more than 1400mAh, but what the hell.. 13€.

Define good
My battery lasts me about 8-12 hours of moderate use, and 4-6 of heavy use/no service use
I would call that good for what my phone can do, but of course I'd like better

What that probably means is this battery has a very poor charge control circuit/temp sensor.
For cheap good batteries try the well tested brands: Andida & Momax .
Andida & Momax represent good quality for the money. I have used Andida & they have been as good as original. Just purchased a Momax for HD2 while in Hong Kong as read good remarks in posts here at XDA ... Buying cheap unknown junk from ebay with obvious overstated product details is just stupid, do not support these idiots by buying there useless low quality junk that they call products.
The feedback from crimebay mugs:
Evaluations neutres Does not last long , even after several chargings
Evaluations neutres standard battery time nothing special .
Evaluations neutres Battery capacity/life poor. Second battery the same. mAh less than stated!
Evaluations neutres never arrives the battery
Evaluations neutres the battery lasts less than 1000 mah
Evaluations neutres one battery didn't work
Evaluations négatives It was damaged to repair. broken batteries destroyed.
Evaluations négatives The battery offers far less then the offered capacity!!!
Evaluations négatives the battery is not even 1150mah
eBay should be prosecuted for its roll in enabling a trading platform for fake & fraudulent spec products ...

i will not believe to comments on ebay. i ordered mine few days ago and i will leave a feedback here.
hi there, well i m looking for a better battery, mine s getting low quickly.
i just bought this one on ebay after reading this post. I ll give you my opinion at reception
hope it will be fine...
Heres a Momax on eBay with world shipping included:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Momax-X-L...835895?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item20bbed2af7
I purchased a momax in HK to test, in my opinion the X-level performs same as my HD2 Andida ... Bonus with Momax is they do not Bull**** on capacity & you can feel confident cell quality & charge protection circuitry is adequate too.
Andida was the best cheap budget battery & well tested within XDA community.
I purchased Andida direct in HK for around $7 US & they are working fine.
A colleage purchased an Andida for his old Topaz via ebay seller snow9white. Total price with shipping was $9.45 US & he has been very happy with the battery over the last 6 months of use ...
Will try to check it out next week!
I receive mine
So,
First, surprise to find my batterie today...

Third, surprise she work, and more than a quarter...

Sorry formy bad English
New batteries tend to have better standby time, even the one has less capacity.
So try draining your battery by watching YouTube or some intensive gaming, it should tell the difference.

So is there such a thing as a larger mah cell at the standard thickness at any price or are they all the same?
FYI, I bought this battery (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Extended-30...Accessories&hash=item3a65fb4a24#ht_1885wt_952) which claims to be a 3000mAh.
I have used it for a while (2 weeks), and have to say that I am quite pleased with it. With 3g, wifi and auto-brightness on, I managed to get 32 hours of usage. This includes talking on the phone for 2 hours+, browsing on net 2 hours and 30 minutes of listening to music. I think it is more like 2000mAh. Certainly much longer than the original.
I am using Dorimanx's ROM, OC and UV, screebl and juice defender beta. Hope this helps others to make an informed purchase. Got his for less than USD10 including shipping. My best deal yet.

Almost all are the same at standard size.
Li-ion technology can not physically pack much more capacity into a cell of the HD2 size.
Mugen produced a standard sized cell at around 1500Mah & that was the best they could manage using quality cells & construction.
Claims of 1600, 1700 or even 2000+Mah of the magical Gold Business batteries are simply bull**** & fraudulent in an attempt to rob you of some cash for rubbish goods.
Best options for budget is Andida & Momax x-level, x-level may give about 5% more, Andida is about same as new original. Mugen may be an option if you don't mind paying high prices, around $39 US if still available.
Feipusi is another brand seen around Asia Pacific area, they rate at 1600Mah for standard size HD2 replacement but reality is standard Mah but quality is ok for less than $10 battery.
If you need double capacity you will need a cell almost double in size too, that's the reality so don't be fooled by these sellers marketing tactics.
There's one available from Lenmar having 1230mAh capacity for HD2 available for about $20...
I think it should be good as Lenmar is a good company

Open that battery and you will find in there a 1,200mah battery and some foam to fill the empty space inside the big housing. I seen this before with cell phone batteries and even Sony PSP batteries sold on Ebay.
It's a shame those Chinese guys manufacture fake and less than advertised charging capacity.
BTW- I have that battery and the charge is not that great, gave it to my 13yrs son so he can play with this HD2.

(Q) Ultra-High Capacity Samsung AB653850CE Gold Battery - 2430mAh

Have anyone tried this????
The ultra high capacity battery for Nexus S, boast 2430MAH but has the SAME SIZE with the original battery!!!
It's not the real capacity.
Put it this way: the OEM batteries are made with almost latest Li-Ion technologies. Unless there is a breakthrough discovery which will double the amount of energy stored per volume unit (in which case you will see this all over the news) any battery that will claim more than 10-15% energy boost in the same volume is a fake.
Take as an example the Momax batteries.
They've achieved to put 1700mAh in a battery the same size as the original 1500mAh used for Galaxy S (I had one of those on my ex GalaxyS) and indeed .. it was "a little" stronger than the original. Anyway, in order to get 2700mAh, the Momax battery got double the original volume (I also had this huge battery and indeed, had the claimed capacity).
Now ... just look over the internet after the manufacturer of these wonder batteries you're asking in your post and see if they really have the reputaion for "super-batteries" ...
Also Seidio make ultra batteries but are too big.

What a waste of time and money. I followed the instructions exactly. Charged it for 5 full cycles and allowed it charge after it was full. This is labeled as an 'extended battery' yet there is no extended life to speak of. If anything it at or worse than the original battery it came with. I also was experiencing more of my programs force closing than usually. If this battery was only $19.99 than maybe I wouldn't care as much, but at $50 you have to get what you pay for. Avoid and get an extra OEM Genuine Samsung Battery or an extra wall charger for work.

[Q]Extended Battery the size if OEM battery?

Like title says.. I've been trying to find a extended battery which has higher capacity yet the size of the original battery but no luck
Does anyone know if there is one and where to fine one
Thanks

are you sure that's even possible ? unless the battery was made of some other kind of materials, I have tyrouble seeing how you could store more power in the same battery size.
If you don't want a bigger phone, Your best bet would probably be to buy a second standard battery but it's a hassle to swap the battery when it's empty
If the battery is the same size it could in theory have more juice but it would be negligible. Seriously though, I picked up a charging cradle with battery charging slot and 2 spare batteries for $20. I also have a car charger and 3 chargers in my house. Unless you get a battery that is about double the size, you won't see a big difference and even then many batteries don't live up to their specs. Chargers and spare batteries are cheap. We're not dealing with smartphones of a decade ago where everything was proprietary and would cost at least $30 a pop.

I remember reading something about this... I think it might have even been on this forum but it was something along the lines of "Don't you think, if it were possible to fit more juice into the same size battery, that samsung wouldn't do that with their OEM batteries?"
Samsung, and I'm sure many other major device manufacturers don't just buy a battery off ebay and throw it in their phones. they spend time and money researching better battery technologies to get the best power/life they can.
It's my second day with an Andida 1850mAh battery, no big changes yet compared to my 8 month old 1500mAh OEM battery, i'll post back after a few complete drain and charge cycles.

Be careful buying those batteries. More often than not they just repackage 1500 batteries and Mark up the price :/

After 3 complete charge cycle its a little bit better than OEM but no big improvement. I'll see in a few more days.
I finally get about 15% better battery life. For the 20$ it cost me, I'm happy.

How long have you had the battery? I'm looking for a new one as well but not if I am going to get scammed. Thanks!
Not Nexus related, but I have a vibrant that I got the Galaxy S 2 Epic 4G Touch battery for recently. Battery life went from about 6 hours to dead (month old 1500 mAh replacement battery bought at a phone hut) to 34 hours to dead (new samsung 1800mAh battery.) Nothing else changed.
My point is this:
1. If the above statements about samsung packing in as much as possible are true, why didn't the vibrant have a 1800mAh battery from the start? (hint, it is always about money.)
2. Take a crap 1500 mAh battery, slap a 1800 mAh sticker on it. People that buy these batteries will see an improvement because most generally they are replacing a worn out battery with a new one. Of course you will see an improvement, your worn out stock battery has only (arbitrary number) 600 mAh worth of usefulness left. The replacement is new and is not worn yet. (All arbitrary numbers follow) So, you will still see an improvement if you take a rated 1500mAh battery, that is labeled 1800mAh, but is in actuality only 1000mAh.
So asking if there is another, bigger, better battery for the Nexus made by Samsung, is a very valid question. So:

Yes it is possible. Search the Vibrant, and Fascinate/Mezmerize forum for examples.
Its about 6-7 days old, bought it on EBAY from this place:

Because it is a device from 2 years ago (2010) and the S2 is from q3 2011. Maybe two years allowed them to cram more juice into the battery.
Maybe it wasn't viable then, to stick such a large battery, considering the power consumption of the vibrant compared to the S2. Maybe if they did the price would have gone up.
I highly doubt that Samsung would just stick different stickers on the same capacity batteries. maybe you had a defective or a non-original one. There are people that measure this kind of stuff. How much damage would Samsung's image suffer if someone found out that they sell a 1000 mAh battery with different labels and price tags?

i don't know about it holding 2430mah, but it's far better than my 1 year old stock battery. i can post some battery usage stats later.

Yes, as you so eloquently rephrased, "it's always about money." I noticed you left that part out of your quote of me.

"Take a crap 1500 mAh battery" In this case "crap"="non oem"
I figured that would be obvious with my prior "phone hut" comment. I guess not.
----------------
I am a big fan of the OEM batteries. I have not tested a non-oem battery that will perform anywhere close to the stated specifications so far.
If you guys find some good battery reviews, tests, etc. please post up.
Keep in mind that comparing a brand new "Craptastic Brand™" battery to your old worn out OEM battery is kind of pointless for getting a feel of the comparative quality/capacity of a battery.

okey, does it work properly? Think I maybe buy one, it wasn't too expensive!
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
yes, it works properly. I had used my original battery for 12 months when I switched over to this one. The improvement was very noticeable.
I just charged my phone to 99%, I will report back in 24 hours with battery information and battery history since unplugged.
Sounds great!

Where to purchase a legit replacement battery for the Note 2?

Anyone found where to buy a real, new, OEM battery made by Samsung? I haven't had much luck with battery life with aftermarket batteries.
Apart from carrier stores? Too many fakes out there IMO. I went with Anker, through their Amazon store and it's served me well up to today. (Not going to be used much in the near future because shamu )
Yea I'm a fan of Anker. Once mine needs a replacement, that's what I'll be getting.
I just bought an Anker a couple of months ago. Great replacement battery for my NOTE 2. Battery life is great.
I know this is a fairly old post, I bought a new OEM battery direct from Samsung for $24...I swear it lasts twice as long as the eBay knockoffs.
So...where? How? That's what the OP was asking. Provide a link.
And I'd like to know where to get a legit replacement stylus. The two I got from Ebay and Amazon were crap.
is it their link? Anker?

I live in Italy and discovered Anker just seeing around Amazon.
I think it's a good product IMO and I think that if I have problems with my battery I'll change it with Anker's battery
I read a lot of people had problems with the Anker batteries swelling up and only lasting a few months before the battery life fell on its face.
You can go to samsung's website and buy the batteries right from them.
We were going to do that with our note 2's...but an OTA update killed my wife's phone so we decided to upgrade both phones.

Unfortunately, this link is no longer valid. There are so many knock offs out there that I'm worried about buying from anyone other than Samsung. Not sure if they're genuine but there's the dock and battery combo on Amazon and Rakuten for slightly less.

Thanks for the info. How's the charge time, SOT and idle time? Is it comparable to the original battery? My original SDI (Samsung Korea manufactured) is still running strong after 3 years with 7 to 8 hrs SOT but I want to have a spare considering it's harder to find the older it gets.
Anyone going this route should take advantage of the 10% off or $5 off promos.

IMO...
...charge time is pretty good, "seems" a bit better than what I recall for the OEM Samsung battery.
...SOT is OK for what I use the phone for everyday, which is just as a phone/texting, some internet surfing, light video watching (kodi, slingtv, mlb.tv).
... idle time is pretty good. Some nights I go to bed at 100% and wake up 6-7 hours later and it's at 93%. My issue is the location of my router, so the wifi drops sometimes and toggles back and forth b/w wifi and 3/4G data while sleeping. Those mornings it's down into the 85% range.
As always, YMMV based on your config. I'm on Chaz's NE2 Classic Stock, with small mods for sd card r/w cache, adaway, TiB scheduled, etc.
Weird. I just looked at that Samsung battery a week or so ago.
