Call / SMS announcement app? - Galaxy S6 Themes and Apps

I've been looking for a call/SMS announcement app (that will replace the ringtone) that will announce who is calling and texting. I've been using this app on my SGS5, but it doesn't seem to working with 5.0.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.codeansoftware.callannouncer
Anyone else have other good options?
Thanks,

Subscribed. Would like to know too

I got the app above to work. Gotta make sure and install the Google text to speech app in order for it to work.

Thanks!!

Grab Enhanced SMS & Caller ID+
Well worth the money, can announce pretty much any notification from any app and you can even get it to prompt for a voice reply (speech to text) to read the whole message etc. or even reply to it. Unparalleled support from Ed and constantly updated unlike lots of other apps. Used it for years and one of the best apps I have on my phone.

EDIT: Bu**er, did not realise how old this thread was lol

Reliable Black-List Call App?

Hey,
Anyone currently use a Blacklisting app that blocks incoming numbers that you can program in there that has had success? I see a few of them out there on the market but I am not sure which one is the best. Anyone have experience with these sorts of apps that could suggest one? (T-mobile n1 on 2.2)
I've seen that cyanogenmod includes one if you look under call settings.
Haven't gotten the chance to try it, as I don't get many calls these days.
iPhone had the iBlacklist that was real nice.
Wish there was something cheap/free similar to that.
Of course you can already do that to contacts you have in the stock ROM, I suppose you want to do it to non-contacts..
I've blocked my dumbass car loan folks, as they call to remind me a payment is due starting 5 days before and then call 2-3 times a day if I'm late. Unfortunately I still get voicemails.

Haha more or less same situation. Tried the one with CM, so far so good

I use extreme call blocker for that purpose. It has a lot of other features, but I don't use them, so I can't say how well they work. but they are only useful if you are trying to hide calls and texts

Again, the build-in functionality to block calls is built-in and "just works", never even know the call was placed.. Unless a voicemail is left, of course.
I use CallFilter from the market. It's free and will also block unknown/private numbers as well as those not in your contacts. I've been using it for months and love it.

Sometimes I get a fraction of a ring, and the screen usually pops up, but I like that it end the call with out sending them to voice mail
The numbers that I added to my blacklist prevent my phone from ringing. They go straight to voicemail. I don't even know I have a missed call until I look at my call log or they leave me a message. I love this app for the simple fact that I can block people who I hate and stupid people who like to play on my phone. There is also a pro version in the market as well.

I use android firewall by lucky-dog xing...works perfectly. I'd never know they called if I didn't check the log, and it hangs up on then so you don't get voice mails.
SPC free from the market

[Q] [PATCH REQUEST] Add ADD "SENDING NETWORK TIMESTAMP" OPTION to received SMS

[Q] [PATCH REQUEST] Add ADD "SENDING NETWORK TIMESTAMP" OPTION to received SMS
Dear all,
the problem is simple...as is possible to notice, when sms arrive the displayed time is the received and not the sent one...
this fact is valid for all the new generation smartphones, iPhone included..
=> I really hate this fact because sometimes happens that my phone is off or it has not signal and, after the signal is back again, I receive tons of SMS with the same time....and perhaps some of them all already "expired" since they are referred to a past event...
old phones like Nokias, ecc. displayed ALWAYS the "sent time" and not the "received one"...
I've seen that has been already opened an issue on the Android Dev Code : http ://code. google. com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2989
what is more interesting to observe is that seems the base SMS application (but also Handcent SMS) uses the local handset time for the date called thru System.currentTimeMillis()...(http ://code. google .com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2989#c40)
and, as I've seen ([http ://code. google .com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2989#c39) it is possible to set the "network time" using the Android.Telephony.smsMessage.getTimestampMills()
now..could someone look into this issue and try to write a patch for our Galaxy S (but also for other phones should be the same..)? because I've not so much time and I'm not very familiar with Android code..
thank you very much,
Alessandro
up
please...could someone consider this? don't you think it's an interesting feature?
I would like this feature .
I for one would welcome this change.
I'll try to write some code today and see if I can read the timestamp.

I would like to see this in action too. I'm fed up of Android not supporting some of the most basic cell phone features .

many thanks
and I think it will also useful for all the Android community!!
oh... i used to view the properties of the msg to read the sent time with nokix, already forgot that it should be sent time but not rec time
Where is possible to find the sources of the native Android SMS application?
Could anyone post them (or something similar?)..then I'll try to hack the code
If i remember correct, the HTC Desire did not have this issue with default sms client.
Hope someone will find a fix for this annoying issue soon.
Possible fix
I know it's a little late but I found an app called SMS Timestamper Fix that seems to be working so far and it's free. Hope this helps.

Bump. I once had a mms.apk that had the sent timestamp instead of received timestamp. Now no developer knows how to recreate it.

[Q] Ignore Calls by Sending Text

The stock Hero dialer/phone allows you to send a pre-determined text message to a caller when you hit the menu button as a call comes in. Is there ANY app in the Market or apk file we can pull from the stock rom to have this feature in CM6?
This feature came in handy quite often.
Bump to the top (or should this be in the apps section)?
Have you tried Dindy? (Can't post a link because I'm a new member but it is in the Market, or search App Brain for it)
I haven't tried it but it seems to have a lot of features and is much cheaper than Advanced Call Manager.

Thank you for the suggestion, but I am actually looking for the ability to send a text manually - like the stock HTC phone program. I want to choose wether to accept, send to voicemail, or text reply to the call.
w00t!
Just found SMS Receptionist in the Market for 99cents that does exactly what I'm looking for. If anyone knows of a free app, please share!
Dunno if these are exactly what you're looking for, but they're both free to try out
SwiftReply Free and SwiftReply Lite relatively the same name but they're made by two different people

I actually tried the Free version, but it didn't actually work. No option ever popped up for me to decline and send a text. And when I set it to automatically send, it never sent anything at all. The lite version only has the auto feature which declines all calls (not what i'm looking for).
Thanks though
This is a free app that does something like what you want, I think.

[Q] Voice to text?

Hi all.
I just lost my iPhone 4S (bummer). and I need to replace it with something. I am considering the Note but had a question...
The speach to text feature was my favorite on my iPhone, I would do MMS, email or any other typing by simply speaking into the microphone. The phone would turn my voice into text and I could send it on it's way.
Does the Note have a good Speach to Text feature?
Try vlingo

I don't actually have the device yet, but I will keep that in mind when/if I do. Does that app compare to Siri favorably? Do you use it and do you like it? I just want to be able to create texts and email from voice. Not the commands but rather the actual text.
I am using TouchPal keyboard on my note I have found that it's got better voice recognition than Google itself
I have posted this using the voice recognition ...
........
but if you are looking for an app like Siri. ... I don't think you will find any. .....well there is iris but it's not good for sending sms or messages ...its just a chat bot.....
you can try vlingo like ketan said but Siri is way better and you will be disappointed
Thanks both of you.
I am not nuts over Siri.. most of it is fairly useless and stupid.. I just want to be able to dictate text into an mms or email, and it sounds like either of these two apps do it fine.
Though it was funny telling Siri to "Remind me to kill myself tomorrow at 9am"...
the following day I got an alert saying "Kill yourself in 15 minutes"... we laughed a bit at that... not really useful but kinda fun.
oh yeah...forgot to ask.
Does the note connect to the newer samsung smart TVs the way the tab 10 and 7 do?

I just want to be able to read my texts. It's ridiculous that they didn't add that feature. If I can read my emails when they pop up. I should be able to read my text.

You can read the Email texts and SMS texts already. You may need to turn those notifications on in the Settings.

I can read my texts but can only respond through svoice
Apps or updates that I would like to have soon:
1. Calculator with a quick tip calculation and unit conversion functions
2. Compass
3. Gmail and Facebook notifications with more message content, as they do with Kakao Talk, Line, and ChatOn.
4. Direct photo share options to Facebook
5. On-screen keyboard (preferably Swype-based)
6. Quick message templates for SMS response (and the ability to create your own on the phone)
7. Sound Off option on Camera setting
8. Double-tap to turn on the watch
9. Coin Fllip app
7. Skype/Google Voice calling apps
8. Headline news flash app
9. Golf score keeping and/or distance showing app via the connected app on the phone.
Possible future functions that I would like to have:
1. NFC-based payment option (i.e. Google Wallet) using the phone
2. Front facing camera for Skype video call.
Useful apps I like already available:
1. Watch Styler- allows you to create your own clock face design
2. CamDictionary- once you get the hang of it, this works remarkably well and is useful while traveling
3. Kakao Talk notfications
4. Spin the bottle and Dice apps

You basically read my mind! I would like to see most of the things you mentioned added SOON. Particularly the ability to have some quick reply SMS responses. SVoice is useless when I'm in meetings or other quiet settings. I previously used a Pebble watch and this is the one thing that I miss the most.

I would add a wechat application,I'm in asia and 80 % of the people here use it.
Guys what if we go on the google play and put one start to the application we want implemented on the gear and write missing support with galaxy Gear?
It would be GREAAAT to have more apps in time.
But to be honest I count more on people on XDA than on developers......
- Facebook to see messages or small wall view
- WhatsApp !! I am using it a lot of it and my friends too
- Some kind of keyboard that we could write something
- Some app that You could chose notifications for all apps on phone which You want to see on watch
The more we gonna use watch the more apps we gonna need probably with time...
These are to one are very important for me at the moment

5. I like most of your list. I've seen some video of Fleksy on the Omate (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkXW2-uGezs), so we know it's possible, in theory. I don't know how much I'd use it, but would show it off if noting else!
6. OTOH, I would use quick message replies daily. Very surprised this wasn't already implemented.
7. It's my understanding that this was intentionally left with no option over security reasons. I presume a dev could over-ride it, but I doubt Samsung ever will give us the option.
8. I'm ok with the motion activation, but my 6 year old misses tapping my watch like in my older Sony watch
8b. Do you mean to read News regularly, or some sort of News alerts?
Need to look up whatever CamDictionary is - never heard of it. Agree on the Styler - but as most Android people, I love changing themes every month or so!

The answer to everyone wants is to get root and apply play store access the gear has 512 ram and 4gb of memory we have more than enough specs to run android 4.3 with play store access. Hopefully someone can pull the playstore off the omate watch when it ships in two weeks which will have playstore access. If anyone is wondering about the limitation of small spec playstore access android, 4.4 kit kat takes off the size provision of android. Allowing any device with a 1 inch or larger with a minimum resolution of 240 x 240. Someone smarter than me please get on this. Dont ask how i know this i just do.

After reading the description, I wasn't too surprised to run the app and only see Chinese text. I'm getting a refresh prompt as well, so it doesn't look to be working for myself.
Nonetheless, I was hoping for a good Foursquare app. Hopefully this one gets sorted out.
