[Stock][Lollipop 5.0.2][Root & Recovery][LB/UB] D6502/03 23.1.A.1.28 | Complete Guide
Dear friends,
AsI have already given the complete guide and necessary files to install the pre rooted Lollipop 5.0.2 with the build number 23.1.A.0.726 for both the D6502/6503 variants, now I'm here with the pre rooted latest release of 5.0.2 Lollipop with build number, 23.1.A.1.28
For those who who don't know about the previous post with the pre rooted lollipop of 23.1.A.0.726 for D6502/6503 variants installation guide, can go through this link.
This method is for both Locked and Unlocked Bootloaders . It includes root and XZDual recovery 2.8.15
Requirements
Download the proper flashable zip from below links.
1. Flashable zip of 23.1.A.1.28 for D6502 variant
2. Flashable zip of 23.1.A.1.28 for D6503 variant
Steps to install pre rooted 23.1.A.1.28 firmware.
1. Download the proper D6502/6503 flashable zip from the link given above.
2. Copy the flashable zip into external sd card.
3. Boot your phone into recovery (TWRP is recommended)
4. Flash the zip.
5. Clear Cache/Dalvik and reboot!
6. The first boot may take some time. (No need to flash ftf for kernel. This time I have included the kernel with the zip itself)
That's all!! check your root with this application from playstore. Its a free application only. (Credits to the developers)
Steps for those Non rooted users
It doesn't matter, whether you are in .726 or .28 firmware. All you need is just follow all the steps given below.
1. First goto this thread.
2. Download the first five files from that thread.
3. Follow upto the 19th step.
3.1 Among that 19 steps, the 5th step needs a modification.
5. Copy the flashable.zip to your external sd card and remember the location, where its been copied. And, Switch off your phone
Here you have to copy the above given 23.1.A.1.28 flashable zip.4. After the 19th step, just flash the flashable_65XX_23.1.A.1.28.zip file. (XX refers your variant i.e. 6502/6503)
5. Clear Cache/Dalvik.
6. Reboot the phone.
Congrats!! you have installed the pre rooted Lollipop 5.0.2 with the build number 23.1.A.1.28 for your Xperia Z2, D6502/6503.

The complete guide for root your Xperia Z2 with the newest firmware lollipop 5.1.1 (23.4.A.0.546) is available in this thread.

Thanks

Yep, if you are already rooted you just need to install custom recovery and then flashed this one that is already pre rooted and that has recovery already. To install recovery in an easy way you just need to download XZ Recovery apk you just need to tap intall recovery and if everything goes right it will reboot into recovery, remember that after you flash the rom you need to wipe dalvik and cache.

Thanks

The D6502 is based on Indian customization. And don't worry. Nothing will be changed. Everything remains solid.

sorry for the bed english...
i have experia z3 compact rotted

how can i update to lolipop and keep my root?
10x.
Yes you can indeed! You just have to flash a pre-rooted Lollipop firmware (linked). That link has a pre-made pre-rooted 5.0.2 Lollipop firmware that should work well! The only problem right now is the the XZDualRecovery does not really support Lollipop yet, but will very soon be updated!
You may also want to refer to this comprehensive guide.

And is that a problem if XZDualRecovery is not supported yet ?
I have a Z3c rooted on 4.4 and I still don't understand what is the purpose of dual recovery. What does it change for me on a daily basis if I flash a pre-booked 5.0.2 and if dual recovery doesn't work yet ?
Sorry for the dumb question, I prefer to make sure before trying to flash the pre-booked 5.02

You might have problems installing Xposed. In KitKat I could only install it from Recovery. If Lollipop is the same you might not be able to install it until there's a working Recovery.
Xposed is still alpha for lollipop, expect issues.
i just donwload this file and 1 more qustion...
is it support hebrew? if not where do i get file like this thet support hebrew?

i'm using kk and already install this by recovery after reading that post
After reading a couple of posts :
- "real" root on lollipop is not yet available. You can't mount system as r/w without recovery.
- no recovery yet support lollipop.
- xposed is yet in beta for lollipop. However, everything works except modules made specifically for kk.
- xposed can only be installed via recovery on lp. It's because of security breach fixed.
So, I would advise to wait for a recovery before flashing lp.
Best chance are at nut's dual recovery.
Regards.

Current Android version: 5.1.1
Current firmware version: G900W8VLU1COI4 (Download links available at The Android Soul or SamMobile)
Rootable? Yes (Requires patched 5.1.1 stock kernel and SuperSU beta. Details in post #2 of this thread.)
Xposed? Yes (Requires custom Xposed framework created by wanam. Details here.)

[HOWTO] Root your G900W8 stock 5.1.1 firmware :)
Prerequisites: this procedure requires TWRP or CWM recovery. If you have 100% pure stock installed - you need to flash it first using PC Odin (use *.tar(.md5) version). NOTE: Custom recovery and/or custom kernel will trip your KNOX flag!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rooting procedure:
1. Download patched kernel and the latest SuperSU (2.52+):
>> KERNEL_G900W8VLU1COI4_Stock_patched.zip <<
>> SuperSU BETA by @Chainfire <<
2. Copy both zip files to phone or extSdCard
3. Go to TWRP / CWM and flash both files one by one. Order does not matter
4. Reboot the phone.
5. Enjoy your rooted 5.1.1 firmware
Credits: @Chainfire for his awesome work, especially for SuperSU app/binaries and THIS method.
Please quote this post and attach new boot.img to your post if a new firmware will be released. I will path new kernel and update this post :good:
@_alexndr Done! I've pointed it to your post in this thread instead of the old link.
(Thanks for your info by the way, I'd be lost without root!)
any way to make zip flashable compatible with 900F? tried here... bootloop, hispian kernel/stock patched

If you haven't tripped Knox, it won't trip if you downgrade. Easiest way is downloading a stock KitKat ROM and flashing it via Odin. Lots of guides for that on xda and around the web. You can even do it through Kies.

How did you install the recovery? If you're on a stock ROM, you can download a TWRP .tar version which you can then flash through Odin (google for instructions if you don't know how).
That's how I did it, then I followed the steps to root 5.1.1.

Nope didnt work just used odin no luck still. I even tried clearing the cache.
EDIT: Fixed the issue just rooted my phone
Here's how to instal the recovery(For those who are confused)
Noteut stuff on sd card from page 1 on how to root if you want root and follow its steps after this.(Cause you need recovery for rooting)
1.Download cf auto root but DONT use the rom thing it comes with.
2.Run odin that came with cf auto root
3.Dowload TWRP from here (Get newest tar version) https://dl.twrp.me/klte/
4.Click pda button and make sure its checked and select the twrp u downloaded. Also make sure auto reboot is not checked and make sure re-partition is not checked.
5.Plug phone into pc and make it go into download mode(Turn off phone Hold volume down, hold home and power)
6.Click start in odin
7.DONT turn off phone after odin says phone is done
8. Hold power, home and volume up next(May have to re-hold when screen changes)
9.DONE

Root+Xposed+Adaway on Marshmallow (XT1095)

Has anyone rooted and installed xposed and adaway on the recent update for the XT1095?
I've tried. Thus far, I get crashes galore using the latest systemless root. Have not gone farther than that yet. Anyone have any success?
Adaway and Root - but don't use Systemless, it just gives me fits.
I used this: forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/development/root-root-moto-x-2014-android-t3249105
worked perfectly fine! Xposed is next up

Yes, it works without a hitch. Not sure why, but it did. I tried Seamless, then it didn't work, so I used the .bat file and everything worked fine.

brilliant. the kernel is the boot.img partition. so you should be able to just do a normal backup (or only the boot partition). This will create a file named boot.emmc.win -> just change the filename to boot.img (make sure if you are using windows that you have unchecked the option to hide known filetype extensions (probably overkill, but in case you need to change the setting: http://www.howtohaven.com/system/show-file-extensions-in-windows-explorer.shtml). let me know when you've created it (you should zip the file, and then upload to this post as boot.zip or similar).

I can confirm @Chainfire's system-less root works fine on XT1095 running the latest marshmallow. Just boot into TWRP then flash the BETA-Supersu-2.62.zip. If you use 2.64 zip , don't use the default system mode, it causes FC errors. System-less mode maybe works fine, but i didn't test. If you want to, you can echo 'SYSTEMLESS=TRUE' to /data/.supersu before flashing the 2.64 zip.

Pure/junior, I think this is a stupid question, but is there any benefit to system less root if you're planning to use xposed framework anyway? Wouldn't you still need junior's root kernels? Because xposed clearly modifies /system, which is the point of the modified kernel, no?
It's late. I may be talking crazy.

What I've heard is that using the system less root with some minor modifications allows you to use android pay (originally not possible on rooted devices). I also root mostly for xposed, but for some they might not need it and would prefer an minimal amount of modifications I guess.

The benefits of system-less root over the traditional way can be found here: http://www.xda-developers.com/chainfire-releases-root-for-android-6-0-without-modifying-system/
Junior's work is appreciated and the system-less root's script actually doing the same thing to patch the kernel.
As the Xposed Framework, you can easily revert to stock by Rovo89's uninstaller script.
hi,
i flashed the 5.1 ROM (RETDEALL) -> get the two OTA-updates to 6.0 -> boot into twrp -> install SuperSu v2.62-3. -> rooted
I also try the v2.64 before, but unfortunately all app's keep force closing^^
Works fine with my XT1092 (RETDEALL) and unlocked bootloader.
https://goo.gl/photos/h5QqfVa6JpvF8qPr6
I just followed the instructions here to flash the modified kernel > flashed twrp > install SuperSu 2.52 through the new recovery and was able to root but ended up losing wifi and network connectivity. Any suggestions to fix this despite restoring to 5.1 stock and going through all the OTA updates?

[SuperSU][System-Mode][2.82 SR5]

This is SuperSU that installs always in System-Mode.
Instructions
1 - Download zip
2 - Go in recovery & make a backup (optional, but recommended)
3 - Flash zip

Just installed the lastest security update (6.01) from google on my nexus 6. Flashed v2.66 and binaries will not update. Any suggestions?
Thanks My Brother ?
Reflash the kernel.
Unroot.
Reroot.
Should work.
Hope that helps.

I am on CM13 1/6/2016 nightly on angler, and this is causing a bootloop now. Before this newest nightly, I was able to install with no problem. Systemless also still works.

Nightly comes with problems.Look Angler's XDA thread and ask others which nightly is the most stable build.
Hope that helps.

The reason I think is that this is the first update with the newest vendor.img. That's the only thing that seems out of the ordinary.

Well, just reflash last update before this one.
Or, just wait another update with the fix.
I have the Verizon SCH-I545, MDK bootloader, and am running JDC Team's AOSP 6.0.
I am unable to install any version of SU above 2.52. TWRP 2.8.7.0 and 2.8.7.2 by Antaresone and the official 2.8.7.0 all fail with the same message.

Solution 1(Tricky, and may not work) :
Try to mount data and system using mount option and remove mounting script on the updater-binary.
Then, use TWRP file manager to remove /supersu manually.
At last, install the zip again.
Solution 2 (not really a solution) :
If you really cant mount data or system, ask the rom dev or someone on your phone's forum for solution.
Solution 3 (1% chance of working) :
Dont bother about the bootloader.
Check your boot image instead.
Solution 4 :
Check if you have chcon on system/bin.
If not download this file and move it into system/bin.

Nice to know.
Can this be flashed over systemless root to convert to system root or will I have to flash my system.img backup then this. I'm running systemless root on Htc M9 Marshmallow dev edition
Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk
I installed 2.64 beta via TWRP. It installed successfully however upon reboot it shows i still have 2.52. Is that normal?

Don't know. Maybe install the app on the zip manually. Update the binary and if updating fails, full unroot and re-root with the new zip.

No, full unroot first.
Then, remove /su
Replace the kernel with new custom one.
And then, flash the system mode zip.

@aufarxda I'm guessing there are no custom kernels yet for Marshmallow? I can't find one I also noticed flar2 said the kernel source hasn't been released yet

Maybe not avaiable for your phone.
But most Marshmallow phone devs already made custom kernels for their phones.
Thanks for this, @aufarxda. Can you tell us what you did and made it always install in System mode?

I moved v2.52 script with little modifications (aside from the ui_print).

Yes .. flash without removing Magisk as we do not want to setup Magisk again.
We will reflash Magisk during installation.
Please follow given sequence of flash .. Rom - Decrypt - Magisk :good:

Please follow the steps as in first post.
You should have TWRP along with Stock rom which you have I believe.
Download the 3 files mentioned in first post - ROM + Decrypt + Magisk and keep them in storage.
Reboot to TWRP and flash files in below seqeunce -
Stock_X00T_Patch_May_Version_309_TWRP.zip
decrypt.zip
Magisk-v16.0.zip
Do not wipe anything in TWRP before or after installation .. do not uninstall Magisk or anything else.
Just flash the files are reboot.
Other than the changes to the update script, are there any other changes you have done? The script output in twrp says 'patching system image that is modified by ....."
So I am wondering if you made changes to the system.img file too?

No changes .. it is just for testing .. I have not created the entire ROM so I mentioned this is Guide section and not the ROM development section.
Also the new file I have updated has no such message but just a message to identify the ROM change. You must have the old version which was there on Sunday.

I downloaded last night only. About 24 hrs ago. I am referring to the first line In the script. See the SS
Also who made the new zip? I am interested in finding out what changes are being made if any other than the updater script.

New zip name - Stock_X00T_Patch_May_Version_309_TWRP.zip
As already mentioned, the message was put just to let me know if the flashed file is changed one or original one from Asus.
I am taking Asus original rom and doing modification in update-script and if needed will make changes to boot.img (replacing with old boot image from Asus) and any other file to keep Magisk+TWRP to be working after update. I test the update for some time and then share it with all.
I will mention any substantial changes if any (for v309 no changes are there).
I have no intention to change what Asus has provided.
Purpose is to provide stock tested firmware for easy update at one stop .. and an easy way for people to come back to stock ROM.

You will get update notifications .. no issue. But the update will not flash if you have TWRP and Magisk.
I will provide TWRP flashable file (after testing) in this thead in future. So expect the update within 48 hrs after new update (full ROM for the OTA) is relased by Asus.
To flash OTA there is an excellant guide HERE you can follow that to flash OTA (i.e. delta file). In this thread you can get full file.
