Just used it to root my S6 Edge, worked fine. I did go through the steps to install SuperSU instead of the one they initially supplied.. Got busybox upgraded to latest, titanium backup working, and so far everything looks good..

if i root my phone will i be able to take ota updates ?

help please
i tried the root and now my phone is stuck on the red verizon boot screen
---------- Post added at 12:51 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:34 AM ----------
ok nevermind i got a little scare there
i just went into boot loader and turned the phone off and turned it back on and its working fine now

Worked like a CHARM!

Nevermind

I have a huge problem with this rooting method. It's very anticlimactic! Could please add some flashing lights and warning alarms so we can all poop in our pampers?
Thank you.

How come this video makes it look so easy, but in the pingpong thread, they have you adb pushing and all that???

That's if you want to change SU. I installed the ping-pong .apk, installed su like it says, download loaded data then asked for root. It reboot on it's own the first time with no root. Tried again and it worked like a charm.

That is for SuperSU. In the new beta 5.1, SuperSu is in there.

So what does everyone plan to do with root aside from nuke apps? I'm hoping someone can do some fun things for the edge: does anyone know people working on it??

First order of business for me was getting rid of the startup sound. I hate those darn things.

Has anyone installed TWRP? what's the best way to go about doing that? Trying to flash the no-deepsleep fix

This will likely never happen. You need an unlocked bootloader for a custom recovery like TWRP. As far as I know, the last VZW Samsung devices with unlocked bootloaders were the GS3 and Note 2.
With that being said, utilities like safestrap allows users to run custom roms/etc on locked bootloaders provided there's root access. I'm sure something like this is already in the works.

FoxFi to work with Cricket Wireless ??

I have a none rooted Moto X and don't want to root it. Just curious if anyone here has got Foxfi to work with their Moto X on Cricket, I have a neighbor that has the same phone and asked me to help him set it up, and I was not able to get it working. Yep, I told him that but he also doesn't want to root, but thanks, any other suggestions, please advise if not then he'll be SOL, LOL
Figured I'd check in to see if anything has changed. Has anyone been able to edit their build prop without ROOT to allow Tethering on Cricket wireless ?? Or figured out how to Tether without ROOTING, I've tried all I can find on the net but no luck.
If ROOTING is my only option, what suggestions are a simple ROOT process, to keep stock Rom and be able to Tether.
For that you can simply root with magisk using stock ROM. Also magisk have a module to enable tethering if you phone have locked (can't try because I have unlocked non American version).
Also after this time you don't have any warranty so root is not a problem in that way.
However you can't touch system file like build prop without accessing the system (root) afik.
If you are on stock 5.1 follow this link to root:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/how-to-how-to-root-5-1-unlocked-t3140217
Change SuperSu in the guide with magisk zip (and install magisk manager after that) and TWRP 2.8.6.0 with TWRP 3.0.2/3.0.3/3.1.1
---------- Post added at 03:03 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:55 AM ----------
If you already see the message I updated with guide link
Question is this, by simply rooting, will it allow for editing the build prop for tethering, or do I also have to unlock the bootloader as well ??

I don't think you can rooting with bootloader locked.
Do it, it's easy and the warranty is already expired.
The only problem is with bank app or some app like Netflix or Pokemon go.
Thanks for the info, cheers, Sorry I've been out of action for awhile.

Root Nexus 6 5.0.1?

Wug keeps everything up to date. Shouldn't be a problem. Also, you won't be able to update when you're rooted. The update checks for any modifications and will error out. You will have to flash the update manually, or via the toolkit under advanced. There is a guide under general about how to update manually via fastboot, which is a pretty simple thing. I'm a bit cautious about flashing anything manually and I was able to do it without any hiccups. I'll grab a link for it.

It's actually been updated to work with the T-Mobile version now, as well. It worked perfectly on mine.
Can you confirm it works with tmobile h34510f software
Edit: have to have an account to download file
What about a recovery? Can't find anything that will load (twrp just errors on me)
Flashify+TWRP worked for me.
This works on all versions of tmobile and metropcs leons.
Maybe the international versions, you flash at your own risk if you try.
Rooting on tmobile will be a really bad idea if you actually need to have your phone charged. The tmobile diagnostics tool will constantly ask for root permissions and it's impossible to disable the tool without altering the 4 gig system image.

Com.tmobile.pr. some crap. It pops up asking for root permission on supersu.
That's the diagnostic tool.
Just got my T-Mobile Leon 2 weeks ago and finally decided to root it. I did the root where you downgrade to 10d and then root and I got the com.tmobile.pr.something that ninjasinabag was talking about. But then found this and updated to 10f and worked great. disabled the tmobile crap before they updated and all good. No errors and with root access. Thanks for posting this that was really bugging me.
Update: woke up this mornind to a log with com.tmobile.pr.adapt was requestin constantly for about half the night. Used titanium backup to uninstall. Lets see if that works.
I just bought the T-Mobile lg leon h345 TITAN from Wal-Mart it is on "Family Mobile". Its on lollipop 5.1.1 h34510f and i do not have a pc. So i have the root.zip but i can't flash it because I'm not rooted so how can i root it? The lg recovery only gives you a choice to factory reset it. So is there a one click root? Kingroot does not work and stumproot does not work. I need some help been on the internet searching for like three days down can't find s*** that works I'd appreciate the help thanks in advance
Root lg ms395 10f
Use kingroot. http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=15606 it might tell you device not supported but try again it worked for me than replace king user with super su using terminal emulator method https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6IgvVRt3ak kingroot is strange it said root failed but when i opened e file explorer and clicked root explorer i found i was indeed rooted if you have any issue get back to me i can walk you through it

I finally found a routine and the right files needed to successfully acquire root, twrp, and custom ROM. Although, the only custom ROM Iv'e been able to boot and setup with all T-Mobile services intact and even the finger print security feature working, is the "OZOP_EDGE_v11_DOJ7.zip, thanks to stangdriver44".
Just remember you should back up the EFS and backup the phone using Samsung smart switch. If you need help, pm me. Id lay out the exact steps I took to get root originally and what it took to get out of a bricked phone, and finally to root and install a custom ROM.
I will type up what I did later today or tomorrow and post it in case anyone does the same thing to gets bootloops and bricks.
I have to attend to other chores now before I go back to work tomorrow, since I spent every evening for the last week and all day and night yesterday, trying to bring this phone out of brick.

You'd have to setup Cygwin software to make the zip an 'Odin flashable .tar.md5 type file', which I have not had time to play with, in order to flash supersu zip files onto the samsung phones.
I am working on a worksheet right now explaining what I had to do to install 5.1.1 firmware and root the phone. I am still looking back to remember exactly how I unlocked the bootloader. I did have to use an android terminal to map out the twrp recovery manual on the phone itself. I do know it would wise for anyone interested in this to backup the EFS before anything. I had to download a specific windows DOS software that does it in a couple seconds and stores it on your computer. It works for a number of other phones as well. Also need to download the newest Odin 3.10.7 software in order to work with 5.1.1 firmware without any problems. Also need to do a backup of whole phone with samsung smart switch "takes place of Kies software now". When I get home tonight I will get names and locations of everything and inform everyone. If you download the wrong DOJ7 software or firmware you'll mess up your device. It took me a week to find the right software downloads related to 5.1.1 in order to make everything work right. And I did everything within 15 minutes. Once I figured out the routine.
Once you update to 5.1.1 I know of no way to downgrade.
I do recommend going over to serio22's post -[Firmware][Bootloader & Modems][Odin] - G920T - DOJ7-
And download DOJ7 BL and DOJ7 modem and G920TUVU3DOJ7 (firmware). Download Chainfire's latest beta super su.

If you use the method described in the thread DON'T flash the SuperSu zip mentioned until you delete Kingoroot s 'superuser'.
I did this and bricked my phone for about 10 days until I could manage to keep the system running long enough to get rid of all the KingCrap from it.
Better yet NEVER USE KINGOROOT FOR ANYTHING EXCEPT AS A LAST RESORT
I've spent many hours fixing the damage it can do to a system.
Recommendation?

As probably to be expected with this website, yet another complete failure.
Absolutely NOTHING will ever root an N817. Why are people still pushing the obvious lie??
15 attempts. ALL resulted in "root failed".
If you do not know what you are talking about, try NOT posting suggestions because they all lead to the exact same non-functional outcome.
Tried literally everything. All steps posted throughout the internet. NONE of them actually function as advertised.
I am sick of the lies. It is clear that no one on this site actually knows what they are talking about.
The "apps" suggested on this site, along with dr.fone, and even the debloater apps are ALL non-functional.
What is it going to take to stop the lies????
Face it. The N817 can not be rooted nor cleaned up. It is the sole intention of ZTE.
When you call ZTE and navigate past their red tape, you find out the truth.
The device will never allow ANY user access over the device.
STOP the lies and remove this entire topic already.
---------- Post added at 06:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:07 PM ----------
Well, you asked for it. NONE of these suggestions, and NONE of the other suggestions this site has offered works in any way what so ever.
"root failed" is the only outcome for everything this site has claimed.
The N817 can NOT be rooted, nor debloated. ALL N817's are blocked. Meaning that there is no possible way to clean up nor root them. ZTE will tell everyone the same if they bother to investigate the claims made by users of this site.
I have tried everything this site has stated numerous times. The only result possible is "root failed" or device not recognized.

I also ran 360root but I tried to run Root Checker and System App Safe Remover and neither worked. Root Checker didn't even pull up the prompt, yet SASR brought the prompt up but still wouldn't remove system apps. Any thoughts from anyone? When I ran kingoroot it brought the menu up at 70% and restarted and nothing changed. I'd like to remove the bloatware not just disable it.
I have searched countless forums and have tried kingroot, kingoroot, 360, the PC version of kingo, I have tried adb root exploits. I have tried fastboot (I have never been able to type "fastboot devices" and receive recognition) I have downloaded Qualcomm drivers, adb drivers, zte drivers. I have used the software for flashing zte devices which failed when I tried to flash. I have enabled developer options and ticked OEM unlocking and USB debugging. The device I am referencing is the ZTE sapphire from qlink. MODEL# Z3001S. If anyone knows a method I'm all ears and would greatly appreciate some help here
Ive got root before on this device. Helped me girlfriends mom out.
