[Q] No incoming calls while WiFi is on - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So my problem is that while being connected to WiFi, my phone cannot receive any incoming calls. I have flashed several Roms and radios to see if that would fix the problem, as well as playing with the APN settings. Has anyone else experienced this or am I just lucky? I am on T-Mobile so I'm hoping the WiFi calling makes this a moot point, but I'd still like to fix this for the time being. Same issue for sending or getting MMS, but textra has a work around for that. Thanks for your time and input.

I'm guessing you mean this thread that you participated in? http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/help/lmy47m-5-1-calls-wifi-t3068902
I did find that earlier but the information that was stated by the op running chroma is not working for me, so I was wondering if there were more details out there.

Turn off enhanced LTE in Settings>more>cellular networks>carrier settings.

Apparently this issue is STILL present and it dates back to April and now it effects Project Fi users as well. How do Sprint customers deal with this, 4 MONTH missing calls and texts ?

I'm on my second nexus and its still an issue, seems like there is no way to fix this. I would like to know how many users are affected....

The semi-effective Sprint fix has been switching to 3g only while connected to WiFi.

Sure. Most users in my Sprint thread have reported that this works. Some have said it doesn't.

Thanks. On Fi for a couple of days, and it's locked on Sprint at home. At least I know what to expect and keep an eye out for.

The issue actually dated back to December 2014 lol.....
It might have gotten better on Project Fi at least....last time I tested I received all 5 calls. I wonder when Sprint implemented that semi fix?

It wasn't implemented by Sprint, rather resourceful users through trial and error.
I had surely thought this was a Sprint specific issue, as we have been plagued by issues involving their network. I'm referring to the duplicate texting problems that were finally resolved in 5.1.1, so for once, I'm surprised that I can't #blameSprint.

Yes that is what we are doing... For a really long time.... With no fix is site. I've contacted Sprint Google and Motorola, they all tell me to exchange the device for another. I'm now on my second nexus 6 with the lte + WiFi issue.

I find it a bit ridiculous they dragged it this far without a fix. How is it even possible that 3 gaint companies can't fix it for like 8-9 month

I agree we as users have to keep reporting the issue or its never going to get fixed. I just received a replacement nexus 6 with the exclamation point issue and still missing calls on WiFi.... Ugh I can't win....

The main issue on sprint seems to be that the phone has to switch from LTE to 3g to ring the phone, and for some reason it's having a problem doing that while on WIFI. Therefore being were all forced to run our phones in 3g mode. The phone has no problem ringing on WIFI.
your project fi should work fine on sprint.. When someone calls you on project Fi your phone uses LTE for calls ( or wifi ). No need for your phone to switch back and forth..
The easy fix for sprint on this is to just enable WIFI calling on the Nexus..

It hasnt worked on Project Fi, its the same issue as on Sprint. It did get better.....perhaps they are tweaking it. Lately its been working fine, so maybe they fixed it. Fi has different issue now....no band 12 support on M and people that run L build with B12 say they miss calls on Tmobile because Fi doesnt support VoLTE on B12

Navigation (GPS) doesn't work

This might be a deal breaker for me, and I can't believe I haven't heard about it in reviews.
GPS doesn't work if you are on the phone? Is this a VZW only thing?

Yes, as soon as I make a phone call my GPS stopped tracking my progress. When I hang up, tracking resumes.
I have not noticed this with the OG X. I do use GPS and have calls at times.
I wont get my new 2014 X till the 29th
Voice calls and data connection currently don't work together. There's an update planned for "this fall" that will fix it.

Update - it seems like the GPS is still tracking, but my nav app begins searching for the data network to provide additional info (traffic, accidents, etc.).
So, not as big a deal as I thought, but still annoying and seems like a step back from my RAZR M.
not an issue on ATT.

I didn't have the same behavior on my RAZR M that I have with the Moto X. On the X, my navigation app, Waze, begins searching for a connection (though the GPS tracking continues). In addition, a box pops up to warn about the lack of data.
Verizon's CMDA/LTE can't do voice and data at the same time (with the exception of the Rezound and the Thunderbolt), it's a problem with CDMA. GSM networks like AT&T and T-Mobile have no problem with this.

Uh, what? Simultaneous voice and data has been a staple on nearly every VZW LTE phone SINCE the Thunderbolt, not just two phones.

Nexus 6 on Sprint

I just received my 32 GB Nexus 6 that I purchased on the Motorola store and I have not been able to successful activate it on Sprint. When they activate the phone both LTE and 3g work perfectly, but I am unable to make or receive calls and SMS . When talking to sprint they show that the device is activated correctly and can not find a reason why it would not work. Currently i am waiting on sprint to work a ticket for this issue, but I was wondering if any one else has run into this and if so were and how were you able to get it resolved.

possibly due to wifi calling enabled on your line?
after activating mine over the phone and watching my phone "update device config" by itself.. When I finally decided to make a phone call 30 mins later and noticed it not working.. I had to go under carrier settings and "update device config" a few times before my calling finally started working.. since then everything had worked fine..

I have been through that so many times and no luck. The only thing I can think of is the IMEI whit listing issues I have been reading about with the CDMA carriers.
Just in case any one else is having this issue or considering buying a Nexus 6 from Motorola to use with Sprint I wanted to follow up with how this ended.
After a week of going back and forth with Sprint, talking to them at least once a day and having multiple tickets opened and closed they were not able to provide a solution. The final answer they gave me was that the IMEI was not compatible with Sprint, even though the phone should be. They then continued to say that unless the phone is purchased from them they can not guarantee it will work and suggested I return the Motorola purchased phone. In the end the phone was more important to me than being a Sprint customer, and luckily I was in a position to leave Sprint after being a customer for 12 years. After porting my number over to AT&T my Nexus 6 is now working perfectly.
I can't say this will be an issue for all users purchasing a Nexus 6 from a seller other that Sprint but it is something to consider before doing so.

That sucks man, well I ported my # over to Sprint from Verizon and mine activated just fine - then again I didn't order mine from Motorola. I don't know your situation is a bit ridiculous though maybe your nano sim needed to be replaced..

That is one of the first things we tried. I honestly thing it has something to do with the IMEI white listing but that is just my conclusion from reading other articles regarding similar issues.

[Q] [Help] Sprint Nexus 6 - Missing Calls?

Has anyone else been missing calls occasionally with the Nexus 6 on sprint? I seem to miss atleast one or more every day with it. It is very intermittent but it does happen, but it's not good because some of them are important calls.
Any information or help would be appreciated!

Are you using Google voice? Just curious because I've had it happen, but very rarely. By the way, check out my thread in general. Lots of Sprint users to ask.

It happens to me 2-4 times everyday on my Sprint Nexus 6 with Android 5.0.1 (latest OTA). I got Nexus 6 on Dec 22 and missed calls 3-4 times a day that I know of. It happened very intermittently especially when I'm connected to WiFi at home. I went to Sprint store and they said it could be network related problem and they opened a ticket. Sprint rap from store mentioned that it could be issue related to CSFB on Spark network. Sprint never called me back regarding the issue. I decided to returned with restocking fees (they refused to waive the restocking fee) and got the HTC One M8 and issue went away.
Yesterday (Jan 8) I had to buy new Nexus 6 and activated on my sprint account (for work related reason), BAM! the missing calls issue showed up right away. From my experiences, I've other Spark phones (S5, LG G3, HTC One M8) and this issue only happened on Sprint Nexus 6.
If it is CSFB issue, it should show up on my M8 and it did not. Looks like this issue is Sprint Nexus 6 and Sprint network since I don't see other people reported on other network like ATT, T-Mobile and Verizon.
I searched for "Nexus 6 missing calls" on google, you will see a bunch of people reported on Sprint Community forum and issue is still not resolved.
The only work around is to put the phone in 3G mode. The csfb issue is at fault,as said above. So you have to leave LTE off. Still waiting for a damn resolution.
Is this still an issue in today? Just curious

Before I switched to Verizon (thank God) I had no issues using my Nexus 6 on Sprint in mid 2016. You know, other than the typical Sprint issues like poor coverage, no VoLTE, frequent 3G or 1x signal rather than LTE, etc...

If you're on Sprint, then it's a known issue. Putting the phone into 3G mode is the only current solution. There's a thread with more info and a link to Sprint forums, where they are working on a fix supposedly.

Working on a fix? That is news. Every Sprint phone myself or any of my friends has used for the past few years has had this issue. The issue is made worse with the use of Airaves or whatever they are called.

I have had this issue in the past from time to time. Typically only when in a poor service area. Not as a daily occurrence.
From what I understand this is happening with nearly every single outgoing text from the N6. Across multiple users N6 devices, in many different areas. So there is some bug with the network, or the way it's transmitting the text, when LTE is involved.

VoLTE on TMo suddenly stopped working even on LMY47M

Anyone else experiencing issues with VoLTE ("Enhanced LTE") on their phone with TMo? I had VoLTE working perfect from the LMY47D and E radios, and now that I have the LMY47M update, it worked fine for the first few days but now suddenly as of yesterday it completely stopped and all calls are switching to HSPA.

The lower level CSR's usually never have useful info. It takes some higher tech support to acknowledge a problem unless it's widespread enough to make it a big report. But idk maybe that's just my experience with them...
