[ROM][5.1.1_r26][p6800/p6810/i815](1Dec2015-Final) CARBON-LP Unofficial - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Android Development

[ROM][5.1.1_r26][p6800/p6810/i815](1Dec2015-Final) CARBON-LP Unofficial
This is an experimental build of the CARBON-LP 5.1.1 for our Samsung GalaxyTab 7.7. This is to answer the poll in my cm-12.1 thread.
*** As promise earlier, I released this final version of Carbon-LP. ***
Release notes:
2015/12/01
To save time, I didn't make a clean build last time. There were various issue because of that. This time I make a clean build. It is update to the latest and final source of Carbon and CM-12.1. I also include the latest RIL blobs and library I prepared for M. Mali blobs and kernel driver update to API 29 too. Hoping this would be a better closure.
2015/11/06
As M is out, this thread is going to close. Carbon is one of my favorite ROM I intended to keep it all the time. This would be the last build for Carbon-LP. There are still some minor issues but this was my daily driver. Hope you guys love it too. See you in Marshmallow, Bye!
2015/9/19
Working on the kernel backport for a few weekends. Finally, kernel bluetooth is now backport-3.18.1. CM and Carbon is now 5.1.1_r18 (LVY48F) but Carbon forgot to change that. Hoping it's getting better and better.
2015/8/12
It's been so long for an update. After I reconfigured my hard drive, CarbonROM was not ready. Struggled for a week to get it work. Hoping everything are in the right place...
2015/6/16
The first release for CARBON-LP (LMY48B). It is based on cm-12.1 so some issues are inherited. It is quite stable. cheers!

Hi Daniel,
Just installed the new build, and working nicely. I'll do a bit more testing to do with video playback and smoothness, but so far it is working nice. The main bug if you are able to fix is the DRM based video content playback, such as videos from the Play Movies app (hired content from Google Playstore / Owned video's) - the Rom is currently missing the needed files to support this. I mentioned the same bug on the CM 12.1 rom.
Thanks for your hard work
Peter
I found a workaround, if you download the content rather then stream you can play the videos. So its an issue with the streaming of the DRM based content. I found an old bug mentioning the same issue, but it was fixed a while back, https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/CYAN-3040 but I think the same bug is back

hi , i use the rom and it works pretty fine with the same little blips that are mentioned in the cm 12.1 thread . one thing i tried ,is to send a .apk file from my s3 to the tab over bluetooth but it didnt work . they pair but when i send the file it doesnt appear on the tab . ill investigate more . video on vimeo runs perfectly smooth with chrome and firefox but youtube struggles with desktop mode and hd . thank you for this rom .

I used the rom for the last few days, and i would say it's the best cyanogen based lollipop rom so far. Video playback was great. The main issue i have compared with Android 4.4.4 rom is i believe to do with memory handling or lower amount of free ram compared with kitkat roms. Eg Chrome browser loading websites can almost grind the tablet to a holt, i think it's more to do with available ram. If i install ad blocking software it generally behaves better, but opening two or three Tabs it can slow down as well.
Once i load all my normal apps, which then have a few background services, games like Real Racing 3, run out of memory and crash out when trying to load larger racing tracks and the interface / menu becomes slow and laggy.
Under Windows i would say it was trying to push items into the swap file due to low ram. I am not sure if Android is configured to use swap files, but it must do something similar with cached processes which you can see under running apps in settings.
It may be because of the larger screen size of the tablet, but my galaxy s2 phone seems to run lollipop much better, it's quite smooth and the chrome browser doesn't freeze up on me

My Omnirom 5.1.1_r1 install was becoming increasingly flaky and I thought I would give this r3 a try.
So far everything seems to be working. YouTube is fine, Xiaomi Fitness Band still not pairing but the Microsoft Band is communicating perfectly. If any observations crop up I shall update this post.
My initial impression is that it lacks the smoothness and speed of the initial Omnirom install and is a bit sluggish at times but all things considered this is very acceptable. I have Lollipop 5.1.1 on my 3 year old tablet, how cool is that!

clicked factory reset under this rom,now the tab is boot looping, cant even reach twrp
uhm,i need some help here, guess odin and reset stock/reflash twrp via odin??

Hold the power button for 10 seconds while booting, when it powers off, immediately hold the power + volume up button and then release them as soon as you see the Samsung logo. This should get you back to twrp

Does anyone have a problem with the tether?

tried that but failed ._.
also, reflashing twrp via odin didn't help...
trying reflash stock rom now
nvm, solved via stock rom odin flash, thanks for help

How to install???
Thank you.

Daniel,
I'm not having any problems, I just wanted to say thank you for all the time you have invested in your many xda projects. Your work has helped extend the life and enjoyment of my tablet time and time again!!

You know the rules...............No ETA's or anything of its kind relating.
But personally am sure it will get updated only in the course of time since He is redoing the whole thing after His drive crashed.
Should take sometime.

It may be to do with the Davlik heapsize settings in build.prop, check my comments in the cm 12.1 thread

Many thanks, daniel_hk, for keeping the beautiful Galaxy Tab 7.7 alive. I very much appreciate it.

hallo mister, if it's based on cm 12.1,
is there still bug with audio driver like known in cm 12.1?

Thanks a lot! for the overtaking and also the op we appreciate your work man!
First of all THANKS! But can I use it for daily use?
The PAC-MAN Rom, I have since 2 months in daily use. My own build since yesterday and as far, it looks fine. No reboot as far and good power consumption.
There are some issues like in the brightness and the active display dialog but these are only minor thing. These things I will go further on.
Any update to 4.4.2?
Envoyé de mon GT-I9195 en utilisant Tapatalk
The update is in progress and I like to run some tests before I will upload.
As far as problems with the Cyanogenmod still exist, I am not sure.
Please wait for a few days until I am done.
Here is a short update regarding PAC 4.4
I have tried to build and the current 4.4 release has the status "Alpha-1".
I had done several tries but got all the time the same error in "hardware/irda.h".
Beside this error, the PAC-MAn do not like to publish the current alpha release. At the end of the build processes, the provide the following statement, I will follow.
Please remember that this source is currently for private builds ONLY!
Public builds are NOT ALLOWED, all public builds will be removed.
It will be welcomed after nightlies begin. Thank you, the Developers.

As soon, as the problem is fixed and nightly will be available, I will also provide PAC-MAN 4.4 for the S4 mini.
Beside this 4.4 matter, I updated the sources for the 4.3 release and build a new release.

I know you are hard working in pac-man rom but can you try to build slimrom 4.4
Today slimrom gerrits goes public:
https://plus.google.com/106433967005195000488/posts/S9tdZSeswWk
I will take a look but my main focus is at the PAC-MAN ROM because I really like it.
When I am done, I will give information.
One question finally I had time and installed this rom first question could you implement the on off button as a trigger in the camera app? And how can I disable the animations in the settings app? I like it a lot more if its simple
Edit: I have got a second question which kernel can I flash to get bln working? I tried vikinger from junkyde but got stuck in a bootloop will the Kernel from F4k work?
The changes in the camera app would affect the whole Rom and would be relevant for all devices. I am not sure, that this change would be realized.
The animations can be changed in the Pac-settings section. There is a separate entry for the animations.
If this was not the right one, you can also change in the launcher settings.
Good luck.
And I propably found one bug in the rom. I am completely sure I have full wiped and formated system. So when I want to add an entry into the calender app and I should choose the time I cant see any numbers I just tipped somewhere and moved my finger to guess the right number
And I found in the PAC settings the Animation control but it is default from the beginning but it runs left and right this not default
Animations
How can I disable these annoying animations? I want the "normal" animations
Flatric said:

The deactivation of the animations is quite tricky because there is no special activate/deactivate button or switch in the available. I played a little bit and compared the animation with CM 10.4 at a Nexus 4 because in the github section, I had not found
I found out, when you unmark the option "Prevent App Overrides", then will you have the default behavior. In addition, I would also set the Animation duration to default.
Please try and give feedback.

For the problems in the calendar app, please update to the build from 15.01.2014, where the problem is fixed. I tested several times and was not able to get the wrong behaviour further.
For the animation control matter, I wrote the set-up to fix in the post before.
didnt work I never had ticked this "Prevent App Overrides", then I tried with it and without it looks both the same...
Regarding the animations, I have seen different behaviours, depending on the settings. Now I am not sure, what you have meant.
Would you be so kind as describe, what kind of animations, you do not like.
Of course Soooooo
when I open apps or exit apps it seems the screen flies in from left/right/bottom/top so it flies to much for me (the transitions) I use nova launcher with prime if it helps you.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIXHrLGrl0s
you see how the closing app flies to the left and from the bottom comes the app drawer I think @Flatric means the same effects as me

If you map MENU to a capacitive key (no matter if key itself or "long press", it will not work - workaround: do not map MENU to anything at all, then the apps are forced to show action overflow menu (aks 3 dot menu) - works on some apps (i.e. bootloguptime) on others not.
Some minor crackling when using bt-audio the same time as 2.4GHz wlan (5Ghz wlan is issue free).

Thanks a lot @deadman96385! Hoping to have stable cm 12.1 snapshot version soon!
I am curious, I have read up that 5.1.1 has native USB Audio built in, but most everyone has been using 5.0.x and having to use an app to play music through a USB DAC, but when it comes to any other sound generating app such as YouTube, a video player, etc audio is routed directly through the tablet. I have a high end DAC but I don't trust using it for what I'm planning since it's a 5.1 Asus Xonar. I wouldn't trust it not working to judge another. I know my S6 that only works with the specific music apps, unable to test the T700 right now, sorry for the story, just wanted to know if there are USB Audio Drivers built into cm12.1

baterie drain is around 15% per hour while surfing with 20% brightness. What I'm wondering is that if the tablet is in deep sleep it show no batterie drain ( 0% in 20h with wifi off). But after I start the tablet again the batterie goes kinda fast down to a certain point and stops again. This phenomen was present during all previous nightys. Lets see how it is with the new build.
Crackling through BT while on 2.4 Wifi is known but I am also having loss of sound synchronization on YouTube. No issues if wired headset is used.

Hi everyone, i am currently building a weekly version (or monthly, depending on CyanogenMod fixes and patches) of CyanogenMod 12.1 for a while now, i thought i could share it with you, because peregrine cm-12.1 branch is no longer supported by CyanogenMod.
I made some little modifications to the framework, the device tree and the kernel, which you cand find in the source section.
For those who don't read at those stuffs, the changes are:
- Restored Ambient Display (and tuned a bit) and MotoDoze (wake gestures etc.), since the black screens have been fixed a while ago, this feature is now working correctly here on CM12.1
- Status bar date customizations
- Ability to hide SU icon on status bar (developer settings)
- KCAL support (adjust color contrast and saturation with this app: http://downloads.codefi.re/savoca/kcal)
- Proximity check on wake (disabled by default, you can enable it in Settings/Display), prevents accidental wake ups
- Dexpreopted
- Cyanogenmod's Screencast app from cm-13.0 branch
- Kernel security fixes from cm-13.0 branch
- PowerHAL updates from cm-13.0 branch
- General device tree updates from cm-13.0 branch
- LuK1337 gently found a fix for the GPS bug that forced you to erase modemst1 and modemst2 to make GPS work, so you won't need to do that anymore
- Updated all the libraries and apk/jar's from latest 5.1 build
- Updated Adreno libraries to 5.1 (Motorola is still using 5.0 ones on their 5.1 build)
- CyanogenMod fixed the soft reboots due to strictmode violations (https://github.com/CyanogenMod/andr...mmit/1e60f9b9ae10d46d028c19c90cf0f52d40ca620a), so this fix is of course included here, but is not included in the latest public snapshot for falcon on the CyanogenMod site, so this can be a reason of switching from that snapshot to this build.
- CM12.1 branch is pretty stable right now, so you shouldn't have any major problem

NOTE:
- Reported bugs without any useful logcat will just be trashed
- If you flash any CM12.1 custom kernel, you must flash this package: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B-xonQbKq2U2NEtIbXZaaEdCemM&usp=sharing
in order to downgrade your camera blobs from 5.1 to 5.0, if you don't this, the camera won't work ***
-- If, for any reason, you decide to go back to the kernel included in this ROM, you have to install again 5.1 camera blobs, the easiest way to do that is flashing the ROM .zip.
*** I updated camera blobs from the latest Motorola factory image, a kernel update was needed in order to make camera work after updating the blobs (that's not an hack, is a regular update from Motorola), but CyanogenMod dropped CM12.1 nightlies before doing this, so any CM12.1 based kernel doesn't contain that kernel update, that's why you need to downgrade camera blobs to 5.0.
I have to remind you that installing a custom kernel will break any future support by me
Hi fonz93. I am considering installing this version of CM12.1. I am curious about the Kernel. Have you implemented any changes other than the camera blobs stuff? I like to have Adreno Idler as it extends battery life a good deal for me.

No, i've just added few kernel security fixes and other minor fixes from cm-13.0 branch, the only external thing i've added is the KCAL support, i don't think i will add something more unless strictly required, sorry

That's cool. I'm on stock at the moment and it runs really stable. Not sure about honing to cm12.1 or cm13.
Thank you @fonz93!! I already loved CM10.2 you did for Huawei Y300, I really like your effort to make stable build for earlier versions when other devs change their focus to the last Android version
I'm currently on CM12.1 from beeto, can I have a brief excursus about difference with your build?
This build is made for stability, so it won't include the thousand of features that the other ROMs have, expecially in the kernel, i don't know which features the build are you referring to has, but you can find all the differences from the official cyanogenmod build in first post

Here's the rom I'm using http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/4g-development/rom-unofficial-cyanogenmod-11-t3017616
Well, the build is 3 months old, it doesn't include many important fixes (one of them is the strict mode violation fix that causes soft reboots) and many kernel security fixes.
It has a custom kernel while i use a cyanogenmod based kernel plus some fixes backported from the cm-13.0 branch. For the ROM side differences read the first post
This ROM looks very well, but I miss some features.
1.- DT2S on LockScreen
2.- DT2S on NavBar
3.- Network Activity on StatusBar
4.- TaskManager on StatusBar
Everything else is OK. Thanks for your work, Go on!
I am now including in my folder (the one where you can download my CM12.1) a build of TWRP 3.0 wich slightly differs from the one in this forum, thanks to Gabriele M (which will probably be the official TWRP mantainer), the long time wait for wiping /cache and /system and the not responsive touch is fixed, i am not opening a new thread because once Dees_troy (TWRP developer) merges Gabriele M changes into the official peregrine device tree for TWRP, i will stop mantaining my version as it would have no difference from the official build.
Note: The kernel source used to build the TWRP recovery is this: https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_kernel_motorola_msm8226/tree/cm-13.0, so it will work on every ROM, both Lollipop and Marshmallow.
sorry double post
I tried the rom, it's very fast and smooth.
I miss two things in particular:
1) switch network (2g/3g/4g) in quick settings (I really can't understand why CyanogenMod 12.1 doesn't have it, I've had this feature since CM7.2).
2) remove shutter sound when taking a picture.
I would love to have those features, but I would like to avoid installing Xposed modules.
Does anyone know why CM devs removed them in CM12/12.1?

It's not like they removed them, but the android source has changed so much that they couldn't just port the feature over the new version, no one came up with a working and bugfree patch on gerrit.
About the camera shutter, i don't know, it's not something i care that much, you can just get rid of it by installing a camera from play store

What is Omni?
The goal of Omni is to experiment with Android development because we enjoy it. Omni isn’t better, just different. It’s another option for the billion Android users out there. Android (vs. iOS and every other mobile OS) has thrived on options as well as the gigantic, talented development community that has emerged to build those options. That’s the beauty of Android – that you can pick and choose from a smorgasbord of devices with varying features and functionality.
Omni is a chance to get involved, no matter who you are. Developers, whether you’ve been developing apps for a week, or ROM features for 3 years, you’re welcome. Users, we know you want to help out, and now you can – Omni actively encourages bug reports and feature requests, which can be added to our publicly accessible roadmap. What’s the point in giving you a ROM, and forcing you to not tell us about any bugs you find?
We also recognise how people use Custom ROMs – we’re all custom ROM users and developers ourselves – the argument that “nightlies are not for end users” is over-used, and no longer valid. We’ve found that the vast majority of users want to get nightly updates to their ROM. For that reason, nightlies aren’t a playground – nightlies are for new features that are finished. You should be able to expect the same stability and reliability from a nightly as you would from a “release” ROM, and can report any bugs that prevent this from happening.
We know not everyone wants to update their ROM daily, and you are free to update as frequently or infrequently as you like. Omni is about flexibility and giving users what they expect – and we are excited to see where the community goes with it.

Special Thanks to @RaymanFX for releasing his Exynos 5433 source, and already patching the common sources to lineage-14.1, without him this ROM would most likely not be possible!

Could have posted a day sooner, but was messing with the dtb compile (@RaymanFX got it working, currently compiling to test).
I hope the solution workd for all Tab s2's with the exynos chipset. I think the T71x tabs have issues with the stock dtb/kernel combination. Would be nice to get those builds up and running again.
Might flash this tomorrow. Anyone try Netflix on it yet ?
Awesome stuff. Will give this a flash here in a bit after I do a Odin. Just for my infos  Does this have similar tweaks to CM 14.1 did or still pretty barebones at this date. Either way it won't stop me from trying it, just curious.

It's a rebranded cm-14.1, so expect all issues cm-14.1 had to be acailable in this build as well, until we fixed them.
Just replaced the boot.img from a failed build of yesterday with a new one with a self compiled dtb made today. The change to build the dtb killed something else, so I need to hunt that new bug down. Will update OP with link to new file when the upload finishes.

Netflix will cast fine if you have a chromecast but doesn't work locally yet. The video zoom issue is much improved - YouTube works great, prime video works, Facebook video works but still a bit buggy (videos sometimes play at half speed, sometimes need reloading to work fullscreen).

Just did exactly that yesterday . Work like this needs tangible support.

Thanks for the support.
Just compiled a complete image with the new boot.img generation (incl. compiled dtb instead of stock). Updated OP. Image not yet tested, flashing as I type..

Mine is stuck on the boot screen.
Edit: I flashed the boot.img file from the 12/31 build with Odin and the 01/01 build booted fine.
Check, stuck on my tab s2 as well. Will build a new image tomorrow.

Build 01/02 boots just fine
Did a recompile, added latest patches of @RaymanFX on the gts2-common tree and rebranded the product name to lineage. (missed that one) Updated op with link. (and tested, it boots )
Feels a tad faster on the screen as well.
Sounds great that something is happening for the Tab S2 However i have a T815 (LTE model), any chance it will be supported somewhere down the line? (with or without LTE support, as i rarely use it)

@RaymanFX is building the T815 sources and to be honest, doing most of the work. I mostly check of his patches don't break the T810 build. I don't know where he uploads his images.
Speaking of which, when he was debugging the T815 to locate the missing hardware decode support, he found, after a clean install, that they were used. I've compiled today and I'm now rebuilding my device, to see if graphincs have improved. When someone with netflix could test if it works after a clean flash, that would be nice.
OP updated with link to todays build.
Did a factory reset, fresh install - Netflix still can't play.

Thanks for the efforts anyway.
Drat, still no-go...

Youtube is having a problem where when you set the video to 1080p, after a minute or so the video zooms in awkwardly. It can be easily replicated.

This is a very well-known bug, affecting all AOSP-based 7.1.1 ROMs. The problem has to do with auto quality detection. If YouTube, and pretty much all web-based video, allowed for the resolution to be manually and statically set, this wouldn't be a problem.
