[Q] Update to latest OS - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

Heyo everybody, I'm new here, and I've got a typical newbie question to go with that!
I'd like to apologize if this was asked before (no doubt it has), I just wish for more personalized answers and the ability to ask more questions if need be without having to necro.
Alright allow me to jump straight to it: I bought one of them cursed AT&T S5 phones, and as I reside outside the US and don't have an AT&T SIM card, I can't update to the latest Android OS via "OTA" or even Kies (what a plague that software is...).
I've tried searching around these forums for a solution to my "problem", but in NO WAY do I consider myself an expert or do I believe I can achieve my goal alone. Had that been a secondary phone or some cheap stuff, I'd have experimented like a mad dog, but I've just purchased this baby.
So, as I said, I've done my research here, real quick, and I stumbled upon this, which if I was a stubborn fool would be the first thing I'd do. Fortunately and unfortunately, as I am totally NOT familiar with the whole lingo (Now what the heck is NCE), minus a few abbreviations I've deduced and searched for, I haven't done anything yet.
What I want:
-To be able to update my phone to the latest version via "legit" means (OTA/Kies?),
-To have the ability to further update my phone, should new ones be made available.
What I don't care about:
-Rooting my phone in the future, I have no interest in that whatsoever.
What I do care about:
-Maintaining the integrity of my phone, in that I wish to have clean software comparable or equal to stock material. (Proper stock, not AT&T stock if that's even possible).
My phone's info, if need be.

[Q] [Question] How to Dump ROM and Root New Device (Mi700 DroidPad)

Hi guys,

I know this is not a G1/Dream question, but I believe the best developers are in this area. I am about to get my hands on a new Mi700 DroidPad, a budget Android Tablet, with Android 2.2. I wrote a review which was picked up at Engadget http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/30/csls-500-spice-mi700-droidpad-runs-froyo-looks-awfully-famili/. The software as I can perceive it so far is problematic (slightly buggy). Since this is a new device (and I have checked for any development efforts from the Net and found none so far), I was wondering what I should do in order to:
1) Root the device
2) Dump the ROM
In regards to rooting the device, I was thinking since it shares the same CPU as the Aria and Legend (MSM7227), can I just use the one-click root method? I will try that, but would like to know alternatives if that fails.
On dumping the ROM, well... I have no idea what can be done, but would love to try doing it, so that Flash can run on it. At the moment, though it is on 2.2, Flash does not appear in the Market.
Anyway, thanks a lot guys. If anyone can help clarify the matter or point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated. Btw, I'm trying to arrange with CSL to give developers some discount on purchasing this device which is equal in functionality with Samsung's Tab, without the crazy pricing.
Thanks!
we need someone hlep us how to root ???? please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

[Q] Publish fan made app without getting removed?

I have made a pokemon app. Since there are other fan made pokemon apps, I thought ti would be ok to make one myself. I made a type match up app that shows the weaknesses and resistances of pokemon types, mono and dual type. The first time I published it this happened:
{

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So it was a spam thing in the title or description. I read what they told me to read, and a little while I can to the conclusion that the description had to many repetitive words. OK no big deal, at least it wasn't because of copyright. I decided to change the title too. From Pokemon Type Match Up to Pokemon Competitive Utilities to make it more accurate since I plan on adding more features to it. I edited the description to match what I thought Google Play wanted bases on what I read. But this time I forgot to add a disclaimer which might or might not had cause what I'm going to explain next. So I published my app again thinking everything was going to be OK, then this happened:
OK, so It is not longer a spam issue and now a copyright one? I didn't understand what to do so I filed a appeal and said this:
and got this in reply:
Was this because I forgot a disclaimer? I don't know. This emails are too vague for me. I read the Content Policy again that related to my issue, and I still don't know how to write a description that doesn't break any policy. I would post the descriptions, but since the app is suspended, I can't access them.
Maybe it was also my icon and graphic image. Here they are:
This is my question to developers who have successfully published a fan made app: How did you do it? Feel free to ask questions. I really want this app published.

Decided For the Pixel 4 - vs all the others (Samsung, Apple, and etc)

I am very excited. I really think it's a special phone, at least from a first glance. The phones that Samsung, Apple, LG, and others put out year after year are all.. carbon copies of one another. I always choose an outsider if I have the option for anything outside of the mainstream - you know, especially if everyone has it.
I had HTC m8 when Samsung ruled Android all alone. Than I opted for OnePlus when I broke my HTC.. because, why not right? Cheap, and as good as the twice as expensive ones.
Anyway!!
That was probably the main reason I decided to go with Pixel. On top of guarantee of getting new Android OS probably before anyone else, I also like the lack of a company skin, and bloatware. I mean root does take care of that but you shouldn't need to root to get rid of apps from a device that you OWN.
When I get it, hoping the order process goes without a hitch, I will write my first impressions here.

I didn't spend much time on the forum but from a few reviews I read.. it seems pretty mixed. Some hate it, others love it. Care to enlighten me, please?
Greatly appreciate any effort to that question..
Cheers, Amer

Hey XDA team,
It's been awhile since I went back into rooting my smartphones. The last device that I had successfully rooted (a few times) was Samsung Galaxy SIII and I was obsessed with CyanogenMod for awhile before One UI reached a stable point.
And as for now, My gut feeling is screaming as though my phone(s) has been hijacked for some reason. I don't feel safe browsing through it, and even for simple voice notes, sometimes I hear people talking in the background.
I'm not sure whether people would like to cover their tracks by labelling it as another deluded paranoia attack, but just to feel safe, I would really like to be redirected to a tool which would allow me to be browse and share photos with ease.
If you have any other tips regarding whether there is a spyware on the phone, please let me know kindly. TQ

Hello and welcome to XDA!

spot the old guy

Hi all, I have stumbled into your world, and I am amazed at the depth of help and knowledge out there, and I hope to learn a thing or two and possibly share also. My phone journey modification has begun with a Samsung S4 GT-I9505. Somehow I have installed Lineage OS18.1, without any GApps at this stage I may add (I forgot about it), and for the most part it is in a working state, with a few glitches though. Now without driving all a little insane, and getting myself lost in the forums, how would one start to verify what has been done so far? does the information below help anyone? with thanks and gratitude in advance...
