Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
Q) My Bootloader Is Locked But Can I Try This Without Unlocking?
A) No. Flash this Only if you are on UBL.
Q)I'm On Locked Bootloader Please Help Me Unlock My Bootloader/Root My Phone
A) Please don't ask such questions in this thread. THere are many other threads in General Section Which Can help You.
Q) Can I dirty flash build X over Build Y?
A)(X&Y being both AICP Official Nightlies) If you want to, you may. But Report Bugs Only If You Have Clean Flashed.
Q)"ROM feels laggy after a few days of usage. Please Help Me"
A)
Go to your build.prop. At the end add these lines
dalvik.vm.image-dex2oat-filter=everything
dalvik.vm.dex2oat-filter=everything
Then Go To recovery and wipe cache/dalvik cache (don't skip this step or it won't work!!!!)
basically it makes ART compile more stuff than just the usual apps. it optimises many things.
Downside of this is a slightly longer booting time (AICP Had This Before but has now been removed)
Q) " Help!!! Can't flash anything because of ugly Cyanogen Recovery"
A) Go download Rashr from playstore and flash philz from that app or search for a TWRP Image and flash it with Rashr
Q)FM Transmitter range is very less.
A)Take your standard headphones/earphones/whatever you call it and insert it halfway into the headphone jack. Not completely, just halfway so that the phone doesn't recognise the earpods. Then transmitter range will be improved.
Q)You call it nightlies, yet an update doesn't come on a night to night basis
A) Nightlies for huashan are built in every 36-48 hours gap on the build server
Q)I want to have a lollipop xperia styled AICP
A) Install XperiaPOP Z4 Theme, [if you want you can download some more wallpapers from the link at my signatture] then search for ibanez 7 sony apps port for cm12 and install your choiced apps and enjoy a near to sony experience.
Note: This is what I do, if you have a better setup, please do share and I'll update it here
Q) How do I know when AICP for huashan is going to be built?
A) Here visit this link : http://jenkins.aicp-rom.com/job/android/
Note: If any one else wants to build a cm12.1 based ROM for XSP, here is my local manifests file, feel free to download it and use it

Lagging a lot
I installed this rom 3 days back.
Initially it looked pretty nice but on installing apps and other stuff it started lagging.
Random Hanging is quite common.
is this the problem with everyone or i am the only one ?

Update.
I flashed new build (Build 3) + Tangerine v5.2 and it got worst :crying:
Now the display flickers and doesnt show the notification.
I tried to enable/disable ambient display, but it didnt work.
Anyone knows why this is heappening?
I'll keep trying to fix it.

i wondering is there any apps for xperia or any setting on this rom that make the LED light to turn on individually (like when charging only 1 led glow), i would like to set all notification to only using 1 led
also is there any way to make status bar icon (wifi, signalbar, battery icon) more narrow ?
thank you very much

only the charging is one led. led notification is always 3 bars but you can lower its brightness by setting the color of choice near black

Im a bit confused whith the auditor . i need my phone to be smooth in lag free in game ( even big games like real racing 3 ) but not that full throttle that drains battery fassst ! Need something kinda balanced i guess .
I put max frq to 1.8 gov to smart . gpu to 400 and io to zen. What els ?
If this drains battery fast then tell me two diff set up. Mid use (lght games ) and heavy performance . tnx

Unfortunately there's no option to pick individual LED's for notifications. Fortunately, as has been mentioned quite a few times before, the color of the LED's can be changed to reduce the brightness.
Do you mean reduce the icon size or the space between em? Either way don't think there's any such options in the ROM to do that but you could try some themes and pick one with statusbar icons more to your liking. Just apply the status bar part of the theme if that's all you want.
Also maybe you could check Xposed modules to see if there's one that might let you make the changes you want to though I do not know of one.

So after flashing t-kernel 5.2 u need to change governor to smartassV2 and cpu to 1.8?
If I do so will the battery saving steps in post 3 work?
And ya one more thing is xposed working fine on this ROM?
(Missing that piece of hell since KitKat!?)

for me these settings are the best and they don't drain battery for me....for big games when you play them put the GPU governor to performance and play after you finish put it back to ondemand and to 200mhz

If you want GPU intensive games to run lag free, then you need your cpu/gpu operating near its max level and that costs battery life. On the other hand if you're gonna run these type of games with reduced cpu/gpu settings then you will get choppy performances. Can't have it both ways I am afraid.
Also everyone's phone is gonna have different battery life even with the same kernel aduitor settings depending on everything else going on on their phones. It seems like you are asking for more tweaks even before thoroughly testing out the ones you know of on your own phone.
Now if you are playing light/medium games which don't require as much cpu/gpu power and you wanna extend battery life, you can always drop your cpu/gpu clocks and change the CPU governor. Maybe something like Conservative or even Powersave(locks the CPU frequency at the lowest frequency set by the user). Also enable Multicore Power Saving. Latest kernel doesn't have undervolting option or you could have tried that.
Disable Auto brightness and reduce the brightness.
Greenify/kill background apps while playing games.

[APP][ROOT][BB][Bricked]KControl - Kernel control app for msm/tegra3

KControl for msm/tegra3 devices
Requirements?
Root.
Busybox. (For doing stuff faster on the shell than in java, zcat for example and module ops)
Playstore Link, Screenshots, Features, etc...

Supported devices?
Tested, by myself, on:
Nexus 5 (hammerhead)
Nexus 4 (mako)
Nexus 7 (grouper/tilapia)
Nexus 7 (flo/deb)
HTC One X (endeavoru)
HTC One S (ville)
Theoretically this app should work fully on any msm/tegra3 device using my kernels features. Tegra3 will lack thermal configuration though.
Functionality on stock kernels or custom kernels without Bricked features will be quite limited. (Everything with *1 or *2 in the feature list won't work then)
How can I make my kernel compatible?

Where to complain about errors/bugs? (I have no doubt there will be some)
Please use the Issuetracker for bugs/errors/feature wishes!

4.4.2 I presume?
Hadn't tested with that yet, but probably only requires a rebuild with the 4.4.2 sdk. Will look into that, thank you for the report.

Is it the normal behavior of the apk to be able to change frequencies of your mp decision?
I was able to mess your kernel, ak, faux... In fact all kernel running customs decision or touch boost..
My habit was from other soft like faux or trickster...
Hope I'm understandable...

Not entirely. If you meant: "Is it normal that one can change the boost frequencies of bricked's mpdecision with KControl?" - yes.
I am unsure though what you mean about ak and faux.
KControl will offer you modification options for everything it detects, regardless of the kernel used. This means that KControl still features some options on 3rd party kernels other than bricked, or even on stock kernel. (on stock roughly ~50%, on any other custom kernel than bricked it's highly dependent on the features merged into it, but it won't be less than stock )

Here is the man...
I will try being more understandable
I was able to change the normal mpdecision behavior
I mean the noob I am was looking in the frequencies tab...
There I saw was I thought were strange value... Now I know that it was the normal behavior for the frequencies not to be always in the range I select
So when I was thinking I correct them in fact I was modifying the normal behavior
For example on the screen shot
The dummy me was trying to fix touch boost... Causing bad working
Also sometimes the frequencies tab can be populated with not only touch boost but thermal decision which I was thinking them to be artifacts and needed to be set"properly" again...
I was (still but won't) able to edit intelliplug behavior... Faux mpdecision ..
Am I clear ?! Hope so

Ah now I got you. So you wanted to know if it's normal behavior that the app shows you the real frequencies currently in effect and not the one you set. Yes, that is normal. The app always shows you the frequency range your soc is currently running on with those 8 text labels. They are meant as a monitoring option. Touchboost and thermal decisions will ofc interfere with your min/max freq for their respective durations.

Perhaps an advice in your apk could be nice for user coming from faux clock or trickster mod...

These are the more 'simple' settings:
Mpdecision->Simple Settings: Hotplug slow / unplug fast
Mpdecision->Simple Settings: Disable input event boost
Governor: Powersave or interactive
KControl provides you with way more "in depth" options, but those values will depend highly on your usage and are best left at defaults for the average user. If you are experiment happy, try fiddling with them (and set apply on boot off). If you don't like them you can just reset them through KControl or reboot and the kernel will be back to defaults

Did you change from ART to Dalvik? That *might* help... ART is still somewhat unstable, and lags and such depend alot on the kernel you're using. 2.6 is stable but a bit sluggish, 3.1 is faster but hás camera bugs and is battery hungry.

Some version ago, ART was the default, but there were problems.
I remember that tonyp wrote that ART could give problems.
In last version the default is Dalvik, so it is non necessary to modify.
Thank you for helping me to understand why I have problems and you haven't.

Slimkat options
Hiya,
I was wondering if anyone had any memory options for the current Slimkat, with built in 3.1 kernel (basically out of box settings) that are suitable to keep it running somewhat smooth after a week or so.
The only thing i've been able to do is dumping of the cache, and using the Fstrim command to keep the lag at bay, but this still causes memory drops of some apps, ... like Phone calls being dropped, and keyboard crashing even when I have as much as 40mb of free memory.
I do keep Skype open in the background I need it to keep in contact with someone special. so i've greenified everything else that can be hibernated. except for Viper, and other CPU and kernel managers. ( and ofcourse Skype for above reason)
the phone app crashes alot after one week of use, i don't use other social apps like facebook or whatapp. I only use Skype, and Now browser. with normal Phone and Messaging app.
I may play music sometimes. but when finished I kill the app. allowing everything else to be alright.
anyway. if there is a preferred CPU / Gov / sched / swap / zram combination that is working well for people, I would appreciate some feedback on what works for them, with minimal cache dumping, and memory leaking.
Also. please let me know via PM, if I should post this elsewhere. I'll edit the post and correctly post in the correct thread, without cluttering up the thread.
Thank you.
Necro.
I'm hoping for this info too! Just installed Slimkat and despite it being quick for the first 30 minutes after clean install it gets slower and slower and now even pressing power on can take up to 30 seconds just to get to the lock screen. Yes, it's insane.

Hiya,
I was wondering if anyone had any memory options for the current Slimkat, with built in 3.1 kernel (basically out of box settings) that are suitable to keep it running somewhat smooth after a week or so.
Thank you.
Necro.

Yes you should buy RamExpander and expand your RAM to 1 GB.
And put CPU to 1.2 GHz.
At that settings phone is working great for weeks/months. (tested)

I was actually hoping for a app that would help me over clock my CPU, and allow Quad core access, . with Ram increase to 3gb, and turn my Tegra 2 into a tegra 5,
and just have the phone do .. .ya know, .... phone stuff.
but Ramexpander only helps the ram. so its not worth it for me.

You can increase ram to 1 GB only.
And you cant change your dual core to quad core hahaahhha.
You would have to change your proccesor for that.

Does ramexpander really give any change in performance?
By the way, I'm using Paranoid Android 4.45 (Kitkat/Kowalski3.1) and overclocking at 1500 Mhz. Quite satisfied.

Best Kernel
Hi can someone post a link for the best kernel to use with MRom, I tried the Z4_Z3P-DSDS_SK_Perm_v5.11_III.2_4_9_ctl_X_ivy_dual however the moment I flashed it the phone got crazy hot even after adjusting the frequencies also experienced problems with certain apps closing, camera doesn't even last seconds before it turns off, I had to flash back stock kernel to get function-ability. Not sure if that was the correct version for me to flash so I'm asking or if there is any tips to making it work. Thanks :good:

So I installed the latest sun kernel yesterday (v2.6), and had the phone running an entire day with it. In all honesty it was pretty smooth I still haven't noticed any bugs, lags, force-closes, etc. The only thing is a slight difference with temperatures compared to stock kernel see in pic (stock kernel left, sun kernel right). I have placed pics to show the differences, as for battery life I haven't been able to compare them as of yet. However I can say using stock kernel with minimal usage over a period of 9 hrs after full charge I got down to 57% so I will test the same with this latest sun kernel. The only other thing I am curious about are the CPU's, reason being with stock kernel the 4 big cores always showed offline using Kernel Auiditor and I can't adjust the frequencies. With this sun kernel it's the same situation. The 4 big cores are always offline and just remain that way at start up one of them becomes active for a couple of minutes with a frequency of 384MHZ then goes offline. Any insights as to why this is so would be appreciated. Any feedback will be appreciated. :fingers-crossed:

Update July 31, 2018
This thread is marked as discontinued. This means that It won't be updated so don't bother asking and I will not publish any more posts here or contribute to the general discussion. However, I might add files from time to time if necessary.
How it works
The default thermal cooling mechanism on Sony flagships isn't very efficient. This MOD basically starts throttling the frequencies gradually at certain optimal temperatures allowing the device to cool-down faster while maintaning a good performance.
Main advantages
- Improved overall performance
- Less heat & faster cool down
- Maintain a consistent performance for extended periods of time
- Prolonged camera usage, video recording
- Suitable for daily usage & gaming
Compatibility
Code:
- Xperia Z3+ Z4 Z5 (All variants)

OUTDATED
I know It's a phone not a PC but it's an accurate way to see how well we can handle stress
The following tests are done at room temperature on Xperia Z5 E6653 using the following set-up :
- RR ROM
- Kernel by @zacharias.maladroit NovaCore_I.1_n_1_10_C_1_6_3
Two consecutive tests each time are done with no delay between for : Stock thermal engine, FSC, FSC+
More tests for stock ROM/KERNEL can be found HERE
Instructions
- Flash the zip
- Reboot and enjoy
Extras
- Use a more reliable kernel, for LOS,Carbon,RR,crDroid I recommend latest by @zacharias.maladroit
I highly recommend my LKT™ Mod .. very smooth and battery friendly on Z5

One question, why did u remove GPU control from emmc therm 0? This doesn't seem a very good idea to me, because from my testing it seems the GPU is generating the most heat.
I have made a thermal mod too, a while ago. Look it up, it's somewhere on XDA (too lazy to search, lol)
I'll keep an eye on this interesting project.

Thanks for passing by , I did not remove GPU control give [emmc_therm__2.DEFAULT] a look.
I kept values as close to stock .. Actually decreased frequencies from 630 to 510 in temp range 48900 - 53200
I kept them as close to stock because main focus is the cpu for current version
I'll see what I can do further with GPU tweaking in next versions
Just re-uploaded FSC+ and the stock restoration zip (fixed a small issue with the zip)

EDIT : New version is up please re-download I'm certain everyone will love it .. enjoy
Now using a very friendly and balanced GPU scaling based on nexus 6p nougat thermal engine
Great job there, stock z5 is terrible in performance terms really so mods are apreciated. Thanks!!!
Gpu is responsible for overheting in my opinion allso, it surges in terms of heat when under load and then all throttles down cause of it.
I still managed to get somewhat similar results with settings that worked for me till now (disabled qualcom core control) modified thermal.config (not my work).
Staring temperature prior to test:
52 cpu. 56 gpu. 41,7 batt
Geek Bench 411
first run
1442 single core
3407 multi core
Second run
1361 single core
3270 multicore
3D MARK (very demanding test)
Slingshot extreme test start from cold device scored 1883
Slingshot extreme test imediate second run scored 1770
End temperature after tests:
59 cpu. 64 gpu. 46,2 batt
I use .5.11 rooted stock
---------- Post added at 01:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:56 AM ----------
Could be possible to contain gpu very low somehow so it does not produce excessive heat, so cpu can be maintained at higher frequ?
I use kernel aduitor but it seems i cannot control gpu temp. Like i would really like it to.

Please remember that this MOD IS NOT INTENDED FOR HARDCORE GAMING/CRUSHING PERFORMANCE LIMITS (even though can handle it) but rather to give more balance and satisfy everyone, here's is a quick 3D Mark test for both stock and FSC 1.1 (2 runs each)
Heat handling obviously improved since score dropped by less than- 100 point compared to -400 on default engine and all that time temperature always stayed below 42 unlike stock .. I'm not really into pushing the GPU since it's not that powerful and overheat fast but I'll see what I can do more for further optimization if needed .
Awesome mods, Seems very potential. I'm testing and will share my experience soon.
Thanks a bunch, mr. @korom42

What to difference between [MOD] FSC Thermal Engine 1.1.zip with [MOD] FSC+Thermal Engine 1.1.zip file?
I'm keen to try this on my Moto X force/ space heater.
What exactly does this change? As it's been designed for the Sony I just want to know it's not likely to hard brick the device (soft brick is fine, I can reflash if it all goes wrong).
Thanks for developing this anyway

You can give it a try, just backup thermal-engine.conf file found in \system\etc.
FSC+ is recommended, to make sure that it's working open kernel auditor and look for unused frequencies history at the bottom for big you have find 1824 and 1958 (at least) and 1555Mhz (at least) for small cores, if not restore your original thermal-engine.conf because it's not working and share it here if you interested I may tweak a version for your device when I'm free .
Do I need to turn on these settings on EX kernel manager to take advantage of your mod?

The T800 travels from the FUTURE to bring YOU the POWER AND BATTERY of a Galaxy S10+ to your beloved S7, while fighting obsolescence...
Version III features:
° 8 hours of battery life sustained with Aosp
9 hours of SOT
° About twice or more the speed with no Lag por shutter
° Vídeo about how to apply UV properly and recommended ROM and kernel and many extras (Such as GPU Turbo and FPS screen uncap) All of that in only 8 hours! And for free!!
This revolutionary CREATION of mine will give you the SAME optimization as Apple do with it's phones (Tremendous battery life and smoothness) But with two or three times the amount of ram, better screens twice the cores, battery ,etc. So:
HERE IS THE AWESOME SPEED YOU CAN SPECT:

"65% of charge in 30 minutes full charge achieved in less than a hour..." With Aosp only
Q: Why does the manufactures do this bad on stock on purpose?
Two things, MARKETING and PROGRAMMED OBSOLESCENCE which lead them to even put 10 core when a Apple device with two high power cores (Iphone 7 plus) eats it (Mediatek 10 core setup)
Q: What kind of results will i experiment?
With LATEST LINEAGE 16 + Morokernel + this AWESOME PROFILE and with a non-degraded battery you will experience the performance of a Samsung Galaxy S10 with the battery life (and also charging speed, if you have a QC 3.0 charger... of the Latest huawei/honor phones (8 hours SOT, 65% in 30 min) feeling the ui completely lag free, the apps opens right at the moment, and scrolling is like butter. Also runs very very well like a SD 855

Hi! touching my phone and having common sense let me know that the Exynos GPU and the low power cores/high power cores have a little nonsense regarding to STOCK thermal and CPU/GPU freq/usage, so, i change between low power cores to high power cores at 50% it's minimum frequences and let the system to use ONLY the high power cores, heavy underclocked, since our phone have thermal copper plate to avoid high temperatures there should be no problem.
But the MORE INTERESTING part of it, it's that this Exynos allows to underclock a LOT among other things, except the GPU which doesn't go really well with underclocking so, when i do this mod, i was able to boost the overall system performance (daily use) like our S7 Exynos is like two or three generations after it regarding to performance! While turning on only hardcore CPU's and not the EIGHT OF THEM the phone not only runs wayyy better, but also runs VERY stable and cold, even better than stock.
Regarding battery life, the overall pack which you only have to import through "Morotweaks" you not only have a lot more benefits regarding low power consumption, but, when you use the powerfull cores ONLY at higher frequency, the Exynos is able to deep sleep more often than before... Regarding additional benefits into the battery life/heat area.
Any chance to have this profile running on thunderstorm kernel?
Thank you for sharing your work!
Thanks! Testing!

Hi! touching my phone and having common sense let me know that the Exynos GPU and the low power cores/high power cores have a little nonsense regarding to STOCK thermal and CPU/GPU freq/usage, so, i change between low power cores to high power cores at 50% it's minimum frequences and let the system to use ONLY the high power cores, heavy underclocked, since our phone have thermal copper plate to avoid high temperatures there should be no problem.
So i upload you the profile, you will need the following:
Morokernel installed
Mtweaks latest
Download the latest LAG_TERMINATOR™ zip
You have to go through the menu and select "profiles" then import the latest "LAG_TERMINATOR™" zip profile of mine.
You will experiment like you have a S10 instead of a S7 and you will be able to save a lot of battery and heat.
I recommend you the rom AOSIP but you can use every Aosp/Tw rom out there, even with other kernel compatible with Mtweaks/Thundertweaks but i recomend only this rom. Enjoy it.

my phone is flying now, thank u so much
not compatible with stock kernel, am i right ?
I see minimum CPU clock of big cores is locked to 1664 MHz. So no low clocks = high battery drain....
It's compatible with lineage 16 and MoRoKernel-AllInOne-CSC4-v7.0.1?

The magic of this is explained on the first post video. My S7 now feels like a ****ing S10 with better battery
Also try the latest Lineage OS!!! My friend.
You will sabe a lot of heat and battery

You can run it in EVERY KERNEL AND EVERY ROM that supports UNDERVOLTING, and you'll THEN EXPERIMENT IF YOU DO IT'S TREMENDOUS INCREASES ON BATTERY LIFE AND POWER like your phone is a galaxy S10 (but with better battery)...

It should work, you can try and tell us here the difference, if it uses UV you'll be fine. Also your battery speed charge level increases, tell us
Works great, feels very smooth but it feels very hot too! I´ve undervolt -75mw in CPU , -50mw in GPU and -56,25 in MIF-INT-DISP-CAM, what more can i do?

You only have to view the first post youtube config video, and make you s7 literally fly colder than before
There seems to be a problem with Mtweaks, so you have to copy the values by hand, pretty easy actually
Also i recommend you try latest lineage 16 for the BEST RESULTS.

for best results I think I'll wait next release cuz with bug fixes on camera hal
I installed profile, and manually edit voltages like in the video but my phone heats, on charger even more
Hello! I was excited when I found your creation, but on my hyper rom v3 with Thunderstorm kernel, the most of the values don't seem to be the same as yours (like the video you've posted).
I can relate that my S7 doesn't heat so hard while charging, but it charges slower (which is not a bad thing). Also Spectrum profiles have reduced to 2 profiles, sometimes 3 (if I toggle them fast - balanced, "battery" and Gaming), instead of 4. I tried to record my screen to show you, but I got lots of freezes lasting 5 to 10 seconds . Do I need to move to AOSP in order to get the right tweaks, or could you please rearange values for Thunderstorm kernel?
