Tempered Screen Glass did not fit. - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i bought a tempered glass.
But the sides woulnt fit.
Is this thing a bit round on the glass?
Looks like it is round a bit.

Can you post a pic to get a better idea of what you are describing. Also some screen protectors are smaller than the screen to help with cases and also to avoid edge peeling.

You have the same problem.
Its open at the sides.
I see air under the sides ...
Guess yours is not round to so it does not fit very well .

I see what you mean. My moto x is a lot worse so I am happy with this one

Thanks for helping me out.
Will put a pic if i have my round one

Toeterbaas is right.
Yesterday I have installed one on my Nexus 6 (cheap one from E-Bay) and I am suffering same issue, the sides are not fitting well.
The videos in YouTube shows no issues but I am getting them.
I am not sure what is the reason for that.
Today I've ordered a new one called "G-Shield" from Gizzmo, and I'll try something else, but I am not sure.
Anyone with a successfully installed glass?

Best tempered glass protector I've used. Love it. And I tried like 3 different types.

Buy the one @ozzmanj1 linked above; I'm on my 3rd and they all have fit perfectly. This was the 5th and only one I found on Amazon that fit properly.

That's what I was saying as well; just confirming that it was the best one to buy since I've been through a lot of these things. The N6 seems to be a hard phone to fit a TG screen protector on due to the curved screen edges.
No argument intended, but I did edit my original post to clarify. :good:

I have bought a Nillkin 9H+ 2.5D Tempered glass screen protector, it costs about 12 bucks on ebay, and it is brilliant, one of the best tempered glass you can buy for your Nexus 6. I'd say it is the best one, but I didn't tried every single one on the market, so I can't. But it is hard to imagine a tempered glass for our dear Shamu to be any better than this.
The glass is precisely cut to end right where the glass on the phone starts to curve, so there is almost no halo effect, just a very minor at the top, but that's nothing to worry about. It is also very durable, at 9H it is as strong as other tempered glasses, but in reality it is very hard to scratch it, believe me, I tried. I even tried things like sandpaper on it, just for fun You can obviously scratch it with a sandpaper or something really hard, but with any everyday item like scissors, keys etc. it can't be scratched.
It has also very smooth surface with super good anti fingerprint coating, it doesn't get fingerprints as much as other glasses do, and when it gets dirty, you can easily wipe it on your t-shirt or something. It is also very comfortable for fingers, so much it is in fact addictive
I use it for about half of a year now, and I can fully recommend it. It will last long if you don't drop your phone and crack it. I think it can easily last over a year if you don't drop it and crack it. Mine is cracked but I still use it anyway, because the crack isn't very visible.
Cutouts are proper and precise, on the top there is a cutout for a proximity sensor, the front facing camera is covered under the glass. No image quality issues if you care about selfies.
You can't definitely go wrong with this one, it is worth every dollar. It can be a little more expensive one at $12, but it is worth it. If it breaks, I'll buy the same one again. I use it with Spigen neo hybrid case and it is perfectly fine.
And as a bonus, you get a couple of small rear camera plastic protectors.
I might take a photo when I get home if you want
PS: the edges of the glass are a little rounded, so called 2.5D effect. Very cool and smooth for fingers.

I use an xtremeguard screen protector, which goes all the way to the edge (like zagg). The case works fine and doesn't overlap on the screen at all. I don't know how to accurately describe it, but it kind of just sits on the chrome bezel.
______
This case scratches REALLY easily on the back, like the Speck Candyshell. I only have my wallet in the same pocket, and there are noticeable scratches on the back. I think if it get's cheaper in the future, I'll pick another one up and try to make this one matte with fine sandpaper.

Sorry for being OT, but the XTREMEGUARD goes all the way to the edge? Like including the curved part of the screen? Have you experienced any lifting yet? I dont plan on using any case with it.
Also, does anyone have any discount codes for them?

It goes all the way to the edge. My first one actually got scratched up when I used an alcohol pad to clean it.
No lifting so far. Please be advised that the pen does not work well with it. I use the pen like once every two weeks, so I just left this screen protector on. Might replace it when there is a non-zagg-like one that goes to the edges.

I always have a screen protector on my Android phones, and the phones of everyone in my family. But, I've got a slim leather case for my N7 so I am not convinced I need a screen protector. If you have a case, you might consider foregoing the protector.
Besides, I've used just about every popular protector on the market on my phones, and have even purhcased the 3M film from bulk that most companies use, to make my own protectors. Given all that, I've yet to find a protector that does not compromise the display, or the touch, in some way. Bare glass is best for me.
does anyone know if Best Buy or local electronics stores (Los Angeles Area) sell screen protectors that fit the Nexus 7? Possibly screen protectors for the Kindle Fire HD (same 7" screen) work on the Nexus 7?
dont know if this comparison chart will help but I am going overseas on Monday and need a screen protector asap!

No, it doesn't. It's merely mentioned as "scratch resistant" glass, but does not specifically say Gorilla Glass at all. There has been a lot of talk about this when it first came out, and I believe it was confirmed to not be Gorilla Glass. This is one product I would prefer to put a screen protector on it for that reason.
Bummer.
I use a case with a screen cover, but still have a screen protector on there. Guess I'll keep it on there.
It is not named gorilla glass, but I can tell you it is rated with the same quality (quoted from Google support), even with that said I still rock a zagg shield on mine

id say that a lot less people break the back glass than you think, not even close to everyone. i abuse my device, and have watched it fall many time, no broken back glass. there are micro-scratches on the back, and the front is in perfect condition. that back glass helps the phone cool down faster by transferring the heat out of the phone, thats why the back is glass.

I have a Nexus 4 on the way (very excited to be coming back to Android from WP7). I'm looking at getting the Poetic bumper because I like the colours, and that's what Google seems to recommend for the phone. Does anyone think bumpers help with protection? I am under the impression that cracks and breaks happen when the edge of the devices is met with force, and not just blunt force to the glass, because that is what Gorilla Glass is designed to resist.

The poetic is actually an alright case. The bumpers help with most drops that land on the side. But if you have some sort of coins in your pocket or keys or anything that can scratch the back or front I recommend a back and front screen protector. And also wherever you drop the bumper case the glass will not crack. The weakest spot for it is if a acute object goes straight into the middle of the phone ( near the nexus logo)

I have left my nexus 4 in my pocket but don't tell me how fragile the back is to scratches man! Everywhere. My front screen was perfect and the back was scratched like hell.
Now I have the nillkin matte case but I would much rather if it had the carbon fiber back. Carbon fiber is still a strong competitor to glass. Are those skins hard or soft?

I never put anything but my phone in my right pants pocket. I have an HTC Titan that I had the OEM case and 2 3rd party cases and just stopped using them because they added too much bulk, and also had to be removed to be docked. I've had my Titan for over a year and I've only dropped it maybe 4 or 5 times. I really just need cursory protection as I've never broken a phone.

They are soft. I own two of there skins (installed one so far). They are certainly for aesthetic purposes with the exception that they prevent scratches. Here is my setup with a ringke fusion case.
Dbrand was nice enough to not cut out the nexus symbol on request. The less places for dust to collect the better.

There's such a case but some users have reported total signal loss, while some others get just mild signal loss. Try at your own risk

And thus it's most likely an aluminium back won't work unless there are plastic cutouts for the antenna.

Anyone using just a Screen Protector or Body Skin?

It's been awhile since I used a screen protector. What do you guys recommend? Or a body skin. I suck at putting them on so hopefully maybe a T-Mobile rep can do it. lol I don't want to hide the Sexy curve in a case.
I considered just going with the Otterbox 360 skin and no case but after putting one on for a customer at the Sprint store I work at I decided against it. The back skin for some reason has trouble sticking to the corners and sides. I decided just to go with an otterbox commuter for now.
I ordered a skinomi screen protector. That should be in soon. Won't be using a case, same as my G2

Working for Best Buy Mobile, I see how easily phones can be scratched and how much that drops their value. I sell/trade in my phone about every 3 months so it makes sense for me
The big display shows more fingerprints. Screen protectors help that. If I don't like it I'll just carry her naked. Hehe

Let me know how you like it. How much was it? I see Amazon has it for $13.95 plus whatever shipping is.

So the screen looks fine with it on and does it feel different using the phone? I might have to see if someone at T-Mobile could put it on for me. lol I suck at that stuff. How much was it and where did you buy it from? I see Amazon has it for $5.95 + $3.99 for shipping.

I put an xtreme guard on the back; got the front and rear set for 3.99 on Amazon.
I dont like those thicker, "Zagg like" things on the screen. I am hoping for a glass screen protector for the Flex, since they are the best. Once you use one, you'll never use film type again.
Until then, I put an "Icarez" screen protector on, 99cents for a 3 pack on Amazon..

How is working for ya. No issues with it coming up on the corners?

I considered just going with the Otterbox 360 skin and no case but after putting one on for a customer at the Sprint store I work at I decided against it. The back skin for some reason has trouble sticking to the corners and sides. I decided just to go with an otterbox commuter for now.

I see what ya mean with the Otter Box 360. I didn't want to hide the sexy curves so I decided to take my chances with buying it and had a Sprint rep put it on my T-Mobile Flex. lol For some reason T-Mobile stores don't have it or the flip cover case yet. I have 4 dogs so always have hair around me plus I just don't like putting screen protectors on. The rep did a good job, just have a few bubbles but will probably go away with time. I wish the top front of the screen protector was cut below the camera and earpiece so it would be a straight line across. I hate being so picky. lol The phone isn't as slippery with the protector so that was my only issue with the Flex. Well also that it's a dust/lint magnet but the protector should help with that as well. I have 14 days so will see how it holds up. I have a few cheap Amazon cases on the way but not sure if I'll even use them now.

Here's the box. It was 30 bucks at the Sprint store. Wish T-Mobile had it so I could have saved a few bucks.

The older ones definitely did. The new HD series is smooth as glass. They also have an actual tempered glass screen protector but I doubt we'll ever see one

(REVIEW) Revised Spigen Curved Crystal HD Screen Protector

Spigen sent me some revised protectors today after emailing me that they were having problems with the adhesive on the sides.
The new ones are perfect. Went on easy, sides stayed down.
I'll report back in a few days to ensure it hadn't lifted, but ad of the last few hours, it perfect.
Fits my uag case with no issues.

I've had the revised version on my phone for the past few days and the sides have stayed down. I can't even tell it's on there. Using it with the Spigen rugged armor and thin fit cases with no issues. Very happy with this protector so far.
FYI the new ones scratch very very easily. I had mine installed for 5 minutes before getting a huge scratch from my micro USB cable dragging across it while I moved it and it woudlnt go away. I had of swap it out because it was really bad. I'm disappointed so far with the new versions scratch resistance even for a plastic screen protector.
that's very disappointing, I was about to order some due to their cut seeming like they are case friendly

Bought the device on "day 2", still struggling to find a good glass protector for my still nude display....[emoji19]
From my Galaxy S7 Edge.
Anyone tested the new version with the spigen ultra hybrid?

I still say it's the best/nicest looking option we have right now. PET protectors have always been prone to scratches vs the vynil ones. Worthy trade off to not have the orange peel feel.
Plus, cheap enough and two in a pack.

Yes, but I've never seen one scratch that easily. I can scratch it with my finger nail without any effort. That's terrible even for a PET film. Other than that it's nice and clear with a decent feel.
I've had this on my phone for a few days and overall it looks crystal clear and it's smooth but the downside is I've already gotten micro scratches on it just from wiping the screen. Even with that I prefer this over wet install so far but I believe spigen could have done better with the scratch resistance.

The one with the bumper?
Does it lift the protector or are the cut outs big enough.

This one vvvvv. Doesn't lift edges at all. Doesn't even look like it touches since it's so thin.

I just got my Spigen Neo-Hybrid and it's tight like a glove. I bought a VRS which i think is a knock-off company that's not terrible, but the Neo-Hybrid is super slim and far outdoes the VRS.
This is hilarious, I just got selected by Spigen to test the neo-hybrid

Guess what. It fits! Lol

I have the updated version, the 1st one I applied sticked to the edges but had bubbles, I removed it and put the second one on and for the life of me it won't stick on the edges. I have the liquid crystal case which seems to lift the film up also...
I'm going to order a couple of these and see how they work out. Have the Bodyguardz HD curved on 2 of our S7's and they work really well. Need a protector for a new black S7 edge we just got.
How is the coating on these protectors? Fingerprint magnets?
Are they shipping only the updated screen protectors from Amazon or would I need to order them from Spigen?
