Mediaserver battery drain - T-Mobile LG G4

Is anyone else having this issue? it started yesterday, the phone is heating up like crazy on the top part, and the "mediaserver" process is always on, I am getting like 3 hrs of battery life (definitely no more than 4 hrs).
I am thinking of returning the phone, any idea on how to stop this process or suggestions?
Thanks.

HTC One (m7) something draining the battery even when off

Hi All,
I was having an issue the other day (before i wiped the OS) where the battery was draining immensely, even when the device was powered off.
I have been running CM10.2.0 for a few months, but one day I was playing music on the phone and eventually stopped it. However, the phone remained warm and in the space of 1-2 hours the battery drained. Eventually i was able to charge it again, but turning it on and using the phone found that the battery still drained quickly. When i turned off the phone, the back remained hot and eventually battery drained.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Is it a potential hardware fault or software?
GSam or BBS or any wakelock/battery detector would help to find the culprit. otherwise, it is really impossible to say.

I would expect it was a rogue application, but with no OS the same thing occurred - battery stayed warm when switched off and eventually completely drained.
Any ideas?
So you wiped the OS and left only with recovery and the battery still drained?
Sounds like a hardware failure to me.

anyone experiencing this???

i have not had any issues with my phone battery life until about a week or 2 ago. i used to get around 7 hours screen on time at 80% brightness. i have nothing different installed on my phone from the day i got it, a few apps. i have been getting about 2-2.5 hours screen on time. anyone else noticing a major battery drain recently on their flex?

weird battery overheating

I recently posted about battery draining in a few hours after installing CM11. I was wrong. The shutdown was caused by overheating and not by a flat battery. I have now tried both the original samsung battery and a hi-power battery and swapped between the two. When I put an overheated battery back in, after it has cooled down, there is still 50% charge or thereabouts left.
The weird thing is that the overheating only seems to occur if the phone is in my shirt or jacket pocket. I can leave it on overnight on the bedside chest and in the morning there is no sign of overheating and virtually a full charge left. Put it in my pocket and within an hour it has overheated and shut down but still seems to carry on getting hotter until I take the battery out. I have uninstalled all the apps installed since CM11 apart from Viber and Virgin Smartcall and still the same problem. I am getting error messages about com.google.services. location and media. could this be the cause?
Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions gratefull received as I cannot continue to use the phone if it keeps shutting down on me.

[Q] Losing battery doing nothing

I used to think this "cell standby battery drain" problem everyone was having was just that cell standby happened to be what was using the most battery instead of screen like most phones. But, lately this phone has been aggravating me greatly. I will unplug my phone when it becomes fully charged in the morning and go back to sleep for around 3 hours. In this time of doing nothing the battery will drop from 100% down to between 85%-75%, does anyone else have this problem? Where the battery just loses a huge amount of charge doing nothing. Because it's starting to really annoy me. All my other Android phones would lose around 1% an hour in deep sleep and I'm only getting around 12 hours of use now with 1 hour of screen on time. I have the VZW model with 4.4.4.

The worst battery drain ever

I love my rp2 but I have absolutely ungodly bad battery drain
I'm getting a drain of about 3% per hour while the phone is not in use. According to accunattery, the worst culprit app is chrome using a total of only 0.08%
Is there a way without root that I can figure out what system services are killing this?

I've got the RP2 as a replacement for my 5th RP1, kept having issues until I told them they better send the RP2 this time. So they listened, I've had it now for around 2 months. Experiencing same issue as you pal. Battery drains fairly quickly, especially when in use, it also gets rather hot, particularly top half towards the right side. I'm pretty sure this device had been refurbished in the past so hence the issues. Maybe best thing to do is to just send this one back too, I'm still under contract so might be a good idea.
My RP2 was draining about 13% overnight. No apps showed abnormal use, but I got a tip from another user about the theme store app. I noticed it was constantly checking for completed downloads even though I had never installed anything. I disabled the app and now I only drain about 2% overnight (8) hours. Daytime use is now fine too.
