Config Carrier help - Moto X Q&A

Hi guys,
I have a Moto X xt1052 Retail EU. I installed 5.1 Lollipop in fastboot mode, using a script that contains the following command:
fastboot oem carrier config vzw
Since then my bootanimation is the same as the Verizon version and now my system version is displayed like "222.21.15.ghost_row.Retail.en.EU vzw".
I did hard reset, installed lollipop by RSD Lite 5.1 and also by fastboot mode, but has not been restored carrier configuration.
How I can configure the carrier to retail again?
Thanks.

Facing the same problem. Please help.

Help Needed - Lost IMEI while fastboot shows it correctly

Hi all.
I've been trying to get my Moto X (XT1053, Asia Retail) to stock. I flashed a ROM for the US accidentally, a while ago. Now, I've lost my IMEI (*#06# says 0). Fastboot is still able to display the correct IMEI(3*********). Anyone has the stock ROM that shipped on the Indian version? I tried one but the bootloader won't downgrade.

@Uzayr @Megatron007 guys please help stuck with same issue
Flash the correct factory image for your phone. XT1053 is not asia retail, it's US GSM.
XT1052 is Asia Retail.

No signal after Android 6.0 update

A few details:
First, I'm running 100% stock everything. However, this issue has also happened on Cyanogenmod 13, and both Motorola support and my carrier aren't very helpful, telling me to clear the cache which obviously hasn't worked.
I did an OTA update from Android 5.1 and I get no signal at all now. I have no idea why this is, it only seems to occur on Android 6.0.
What model is your device? Have you tried just flashing the modem files for your device?

Apologies, I should add this as an edit. Model number says Moto X (2nd Generation), System version 24.11.18.victara_tmo.tmo.en.US tkpca. Not sure what else you need, modem files have been reflashed but still no luck Out of ideas.
what is "tkpca" end of system version? Telus ? And this FW is for T Mobile XT1095. I guess your phone is XT1097. Maybe you flashed wrong FW before update . You should flash right FW or you can flash only modem to get signal back

It worked on the 5.1 FW that I flashed though, and doesn't work on any version of 6.0. I flashed the FW provided by Moto on here:
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/recovery-images (Moto X (2nd Gen) Pure Edition: L-5.1-LPE23.32-21.3 TMO)
(And yes I have reflashed the modem)
I had this issue too with the OTA I received on xt1092 EU. I reflashed the modem with 5.1 fw, while keeping everything else on 6.0 fw. Worked for me, might work for you too. Good luck.
I have the same issue, on what I had thought was an EU xt1092. I uploaded the xt 1095 5.1 stock files to it a while ago and rooted and it has been fine. Did Marshmallow original OTA yesterday and it's lost cell signal. Some more investigation shows the imei of the phone to a be a AU variant! Wasn't expecting that. Reflash to xt1095 stock 5.1 bought service back again. Have tried a few different modem files, But I can't get signal with 6.0. Any ideas? Or any magic modem files . I also can't sideload the EU 6.0 OTA, it fails with signature problems.
I'm experiencing the same problem. I received the OTA a few days before Christmas, and now I'm still without signal. Just tried flashing Android 5.0 modem partition (from Motorola), but it didn't work.
My phone is the XT1097, but everywhere I searched said that the XT1097 and XT1095 were the same phone. I'll try flashing the modem partition from the 5.1 recovery image, I'm just waiting for Motorola to give me access to it.
EDIT: and yes, I flashed 5.1 from Motorola and it worked like a charm. Then OTA came and it messed up my phone's signal.
I have 5.1 modem files from moto for the xt 1095 and they haven't worked for me .
StillBrilliant, did you have the 1092 modem files or the 1095 ones? If you have 1092 is there any chance you can post them.
Just flashed the 5.1 image modem, and it still doesn't work. Any ideas?

You need the xt1092 modem. However there is more than one xt1092. Do you have reteu, retes, or retde?

My XT1097 is from Brazil, no carrier, bought it directly from Motorola's site. The weird thing I've found is that the update version has retbr in its name.
EDIT: fixed it. Found a thread that had the retail images for XT1097. Downloaded the Brazil version and flashed the modem. It works now.
I thought mine was a reteu, but not so sure now.... Imei listed it as an Australian phone! (I bought it from someone who reviews tech) I am in the UK, but now not so sure which modems I need!

In fastboot run:
fastboot getvar all
It should tell you what the phone truly is.

Ok, here is the full 6.0 for reteu:
http://www.filefactory.com/file/6q0pj4hr2sh5/VICTARA_RETEU_XT1092_6.0_MPE24.49-18_cid7_CFC.xml.zip
Use the commands in fastboot:
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase cache
That should get you back on the correct modem for your phone. Or if you want just flash everything in this zip to be 100% stock 6.0 for the reteu model.

Thank you, I think I might flash the whole thing back to stock with that and start again.
As a bit of a newb here, the fastboot system system.img command isn't working for this chunked image. What is the system image command for sparse, or the quickest way to rechunk them together. I've been searching but I have come up with about 15 different methods!
By the way, flashing the modem files from that image worked. Thank you but I would still like to go back to stock.
Same issue signal drop after upgrading to 6
i am having the same issue after upgrade to 6. Signal drops a lot. Works fine when connected to 3g or 4g networks, but drops to 2g networks. What could be the reason.

Network search error MOTO G 2014 (XT1068) Titan

My phone model is moto g 2014 (XT1068) Titan
Recently I unlocked my phone's bootloader to install official lineage OS 7.1.1, I had successfully installed it everything works fine unless the network.
I tried to search the network it says error while searching networks. I have ensured that the aeroplane mode is off, I tried to clear cache, factory reset and all other related solutions, but still the problem encounters. After that I downgraded my phone to official marshammalow version, but the problem continues, when I run the caqtest I came to know that it shows the error that "phone iccid unkonwn, sim iccicd is null, phone and sim iccicd compare error"
Also i tried to turn on voice and data radio on using *#*#4636#*#* (Because it says radio is off in information status) but that does nothing
Please help me how to fix it

Hey there,
I got the solution, my phone is working perfectly alright now,

I just downloaded the official Marshmallow 6.0 stock ROM for this Indian Model Moto G 2014 XT1068 (Dual Sim)
And then connected my phone to PC in fastboot mode
And then using the mfastboot tool i did only flash NON-HLOS.bin and fsg.mbn using the command
Thats it
Note: My phone is running on Lineage OS 7.1.1 titan version and i flashed the modem files of Marshmallow Version

No sim detection on 8.0/8.1 after converting XT1096 to XT1095

I previously converted my XT1096 to XT1095 and when I finally decided to flash a 8.1 rom I have yet to find one with working sim detection and baseband shows unknown. I have since restored back to original XT1096 firmware and restored my original EFS and still have no luck so any help would be much appreciated.

I tried one or two unofficial 8.0/8.1 ROMs on my XT1097 and wouldn't detect the SIM card. Do you mean you still have no SIM on stock firmware? You have to flash the modem from the firmware that supports your Region/Carrier:
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
Right now, only Mokee has official 8.1 releases, which I haven't tried, so I don't know if it's detecting the SIM on all variants.

I have sim detection on stock and any 5.1-7.1.2 rooms just no luck on any of the 8.1 rooms even though others with the same variant have confirmed that they do have sim detection. I was just wondering if anyone else that converted to XT1095 had the same issues and if so how did they fix it.

Try manually adding your Access Point Names (APN) under the Cellular Networks settings.

None of the options under mobile network are available everything is greyed out can't change anything there and also tried dialing*#*#4636#*#* to get to pho e info and can't change anything there. I thought restoring back to 100% stock XT1096 and restoring my original modem and EFS would do the trick but it was more a wast of time lol. Hopefully with future development things will work out eventually.
Any conclusion? I just did the same with my girlfriends phone. XT1096 and flashed MOKEE 8.1, no sim detection and terrible battery drain although I have MOKEE 8.1 running on my XT1095 perfectly.
It's odd because it works in 7.1.2 on the XT1096 though. 8.1 works just fine on the XT1095

MetroPCS on XT1921-5 (Sprint Model) - No Data

Hi,
I'm using MetroPCS service w/ sim card my Moto E5 Play XT1921-5 (Sprint Firmware). The phone came with Assurance Wireless out of the box. Talk and text work fine but data does not work whatsoever. I've tried every combination of t-mobile's and Metro PCS's APN settings but to no avail. I've done the OEM unlock and applying the fix included in the"XT1921-5 AUTO_APN PERMANENT" zip file via the ADB tool, drivers and all.
I entered in one of the latest recommended official APN settings and now I get an error saying that the APN settings aren't even available anymore and I get the error now when I try to even click on the apn settings tab in android. Talk and text still work though. There was never an option to add APN settings in the first place. I could only edit the two existing APN profiles. I tried running InfinityBox AST to apply the fix but I got a "smart card not found" error.
I've reset the network settings multiple times along with doing a couple factory resets.
Anyhow, I'm wondering if the data issue is because it's innately a sprint phone? Is it possible to flash my phone with the MetroPCS or T-Mobile firmware or is there a universal/unlocked firmware that I can flash it with (without bricking it)? Perhaps I should flash it with custom firmware, if it's possible to root my model. Please let me know what the best course of action is to take.
Thanks

What does getvar all say?

Not the full firmware if the bootloader is locked.
You likely can flash the modem firmware.
Code:
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn

What's the correct file to utilize to flash with adb? Is there a separate one for T-Mobile and sprint? If so, which carrier files should I use?
Should I use the file from the following web page?:

Can the modem firmware be extracted from the main MetroPCS firmware or do I have to download it separately from somewhere else?

I can assist you in flashing the entire firmware if you are ok with unlocking the bootloader.
