How-To for Boot Animation Selections:
Prerequisite:
Boot Animation must be in a pure zip format
How-To:
Make directory on internal storage name "desobootanimations" and place zip file there or use AOSP "Download" pre-made directory.
"desobootanimations" directory will override the use of "Download"
Place prebuilt zip in one or the other, it should now show in custom settings under Desolated Core->Boot animation->Boot Animation Selection
Your selection will stay static even if deleting the selected file off storage. It will revert back to "Stock" upon flashing, clean or dirty.

Thanks for you work!

Caf source for kernel. Requires 4.4 aboot.
[EDIT]
I'm confirming compatibility with a 4.4 aboot

You would have to enable it. Use kernel adiutor if you want it.

Caf source requires LB bootstack with 4.4 OR 4.2 aboot.
If kernel is bumped, 4.4 and 4.2 aboot is able to boot it.
4.2 aboot also supports old aosp roms from kk or jb times and older caf based roms.
To avoid confusion let users stay on lp bootstack with 4.2 aboot (called loki lp bootstack). That's my suggestion. 4.2 aboot can't cause issues but users flashing/updating wrong bootstack/bootloader and whatever can. Saying 4.4 aboot needed means coming from stock 4.4 rom is OK, in this case they don't have the lp modem etc, and issues coming again.

You misread out of context. Check Q & A yourself before replying and also check device source which is also linked here dated 7/25.

That commit means kernel is built with bump: signed with lg key used in both 4.2 and 4.4 aboot. So a bumped boot img will pass 4.2 and 4.4 aboot security check. This is why 4.4 aboot is NOT a must to be able to use caf roms with that commit.
4.2 aboot has the mentioned benefits. Able to install and boot loki roms too. While on 4.4 aboot loki'd updater script will fail while executing loki script.
With this I just want to help users to see, every caf kernel based rom has the same prerequirements before install to avoid useless bootstack flashing back and forth, and common questions asked again and again. Not to mention the bricked devices.

Again you do not need to correct me and I thank you for your post(s).
Sent from my LG-VS980 using Tapatalk

A lot of people imply that the 4.4 aboot is a much cleaner method, however this isn't technically true, what's cleaner is bump over loki and other than slight graphical differences in use the 4.2 and 4.4 aboot are identical (for the user). There isn't a major advantage of a 4.4 bootloader over a 4.2, other than it's technically newer and probably has a couple under-the-hood improvements. Anyways ROM seems interesting, gonna check it out later tonight, sorry for OT.

Awesome ROM. Very snappy and everything works great--provided that I set Device Only for GPS. Not sure if it's what I've installed or what but after googling my fingers off I came across https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/BACON-3810. I was getting Google Play service crashes all over the place and by setting my Location Services to Device Only that has all gone away. I don't know if my experience is related to that issue, but it feels like it from here.
Anyway, this is an awesome ROM and thank you for sharing!
EDIT: And the phone is completely cooled even whilst on usb charger. Wasn't that way--on or off charger--prior to location svcs change. Still open to the idea that it's all placebo.

Welcome to VanirAOSP.
Our mission is to deliver a clean optimized version of Android to as many devices as possible. This is not a kang rom. You will find versions of the features you love that we've rewritten and improved on plus a few we wrote ourselves. we've tried to acheive a more organized and cohesive setup to improve the user experience while correcting any performance regressions and improving functionality.
If you're the kind of person that needs options to change the font and color on every letter and expect the ROM to end up looking like kid's cereal box then GTFO. You will not find customizations that are done just because someone figured out how to do them. Everything in here has a purpose and is held to a high standard of coding.
General features:
stock mode - ability revert to stock AOSP code with the exception of a few custom features we chose to keep active
enhanced performance.. longer uptime with less slowdown
custom written CRON and init.d.
minor UI and graphics improvements
custom navbar, navring, and hardware key features
active notifications (improved active display + lockscreen notifications)
usability improvements like power reboot menu and sound
animation control
Improved Vanir keyboard
CM's profiles & quicksettings
additional quicksetting tiles
immersive desktop <- fully configurable immersive mode
low profile mode
statusbar mods
clock & battery mods
lockscreen blur and other mods
soon to come -> quick cam and flash notifications
busybox, embedded root, init.d, cron etc
many improvements and new features unique to vanir
more to come when i feel like updating the op

Sorry, You know me, as a basic user I always tried do something useful in community, but now my Mom is going to use my phone for 5-6 monthes. Also I have to study for university entrance exams so I can't do much here. I'm afraid.
@all : I've tested previous build, not the latest one. It booted fine, but orientation sensors was not working. @AndroidNoob69 told me he fixed this issue in latest build.
Also there was no sdcard bug (In Vanir KK, internal sd had write problems)
So don't worry about bricking your phone, If you want this project alive, please test latest build and report.
@AndroidNoob69 : Sorry If I do job of potato in testing that build but I'm out of options

Did you fastboot my boot.img?
yes, flashed it before from vanir's zip.
Wait for the next build, might be a recovery issue. At the moment if you want to flash it, fastboot another lollipop ROM boot.img (e.g. cm12) and flash this ROM.
New build up.
Test and see if recovery is fine

SlimRom is a custom android operating system. The main goal is to offer users a slimmed down but still feature rich alternative to other android operating systems.
The entire SlimTeam work together to bring you this tailor-made beauty straight from Android Open Source Project (AOSP) source code.
All of the sources can be publicly viewed through GitHub and Gerrit.
SlimLP is currently in alpha stage, some settings are already in place, much is still missing and would come with time. Stay tuned!

Hello.
This supposed to be only test builds for my usage. I shared links (without separate thread), but some users PMed me to create that thread.
Do not expect frequent updates, i even didn't test those builds thoroughly (against my own rules).
But maybe someone will find this ROM(s) useful and nice.
I love SlimRoms. They do an outstanding job at keeping everything minimal, with a very low memory footprint. Glad it was compiled, I was actually just thinking about starting a thread for Slim. I'm going to test your build out at some point, just to see how it runs on this device
Sent from my LG-D415 using XDA Free mobile app
I almost forgot about that build
It has last ultima kernel version (so problems with overheating may occur). Without any of optimizations, just the first build... I tested it for a very short time. It's a good base for further work for sure
Edit: i love slim ROMs since 4.2.2 versions
I got to play with this ROM for a little while earlier on my D415. It ran great, and aside from the typical bugs, the only thing I noticed, was that I couldn't access a recents menu. I think I might just have to compile SlimRoms, since you will be mainly focused on RR, and won't be able to provide frequent updates. The L90 could really make use of the minimalistic approach

Yea that was my best guess. But no, long press of home button did nothing. Reboot wouldn't fix the issue either

I think it's connected to the fact that i disabled some overlays (hardware keys) due compilation errors. There supposed to be submenu to enable recents i think
Short changelog:
- Slim Recents are back
- Navigation bar options restored
- Sanders kernel (colonel) instead of ultima (somehow bit laggy on my settings)
- Hardware buttons menu restored
- SlimPie
- Ambient Display / doze implemented (not tested, may not work at this stage) [edit: not working]

I see no problem in having two independent threads for the same ROM.
There is much space for making it very different...
However, disclaimer time (to all):
Do not expect that I'll answer any development-wise questions or help in any other way. If your PM stays unanswered for 2-3 days, I'll not answer it at all (probably). Why? Doesn't matter, thank some other devs, they know how helpful they are (at least some of them)
stuck on PIN window
Hi, just came here by to test a ROM and got some weird glitch with no "OK" button on PIN verification window. I could enter PIN code, could delete it, could enter emergency mode, but there's no "OK" button to pass it
Before installing SlimRom i did all possible format/wipe in CWM (came from CarbonRom).

BUILD 2 [2015-05-31]
* Slim sources update [up to 2015-05-31]
- ROM version upgraded -> Alpha 0.3
- Fixed Slim Recents on Home button longpress

* Ultima Kernel replaced with KernelSanders (bit laggy on my settings)
* Compiled with default Toolchain (kernel) and Sabermod TC 4.8 (ROM)
TO DO:
- change toolchain to something higher than 4.8.3
- upgrade kernel base to 3.4.107
- add some functionalities to kernel.
I don't want to make second ultima kernel from KernelSanders, so i plan adding only minor updates. And some fixes, when we find something out.

CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.
Why another build of CyanogenMod 12.1?
Completely new repos made from scratch.
Lollipop kernel from V500-30A sources.
Lollipop blobs from palman 5.1 and V500-30B.
To be used with kitkat bootloader (check post 3).
Camera works for all models (ov5693 included).
Autobrightness values corrected, improved gamma and backlight, ...
Power profiles enabled, BFQ I/O scheduler set as default, F2FS support (cache & data), ...
Control vibration intensity, 'knock on' works anywhere on the screen (not just the center), ...
And many other small improvements.
Install instructions:
Reboot into recovery (official TWRP recommended).
Wipe Data, System and Cache if it's a fresh install.
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache if you're updating from a previous build of CM 12.1.
Flash ROM and Gapps.
Reboot.

Known bugs
IR Blaster doesn't work.
* If you want to report any other bug, please explain how to reproduce it and attach a logcat and dmesg (you can use this app). Please, do not report bugs if you use a kernel from a different thread.
Bootloader
This rom is meant to be used with kitkat bootloader. If you are unsure of what bootloader you are using, you should flash the following zip within recovery (official TWRP recommended):
V50020D Bootloader: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952613675
* Some stock based roms in this forum flash bootloader files without the user being aware of it. So just to be safe, I recommend everybody to flash the above zip to make sure that you are using all the correct bootloader files.
Thanks for creating this! Finally there is a CM12.1 solution for v500 devices that use the other camera module. I am able to dirty flash this ROM on top of the latest official nightly cm12.1 build without any problems.
Thanks for this one, sounds awesome, flash time
Hey. Thanks for your amazing work. Would it be possible extract this kernel for work in aosp roms?

Of course, you can extract it or even better, build from source. But it's possible that you need some extra changes in the device repo.
Thanks for your reply. I'm not an expert to extract kernel. Can you extract this please? If you can. Tanks a lot.

If you think that will fix camera for all available roms, that's not how it works. Kernel aside, you need new blobs (vendor files) and changes in the device repo (sepolicy rules, ramdisk, ...) to fix camera. I publish all my repos so everybody can see them, and other devs can either use them to build their roms or try to "extract" the changes for camera to fix it in their builds. But I cannot do much more than I already did publishing my sources and this rom...
New build released
With the following changes:
- Set lcd brightness to default value during first boot.
- Kernel updated to latest caf tag for our soc.
- Fix vidc firmware error.
I will keep publishing new builds of this rom whenever there are significant changes in CyanogenMod's or my repos.
really awesome build, i can even push apps to sd, for some reason this never worked for me on default cm
it even feels smoother
Thanks for your work. I"ll notify arcee to take a look on your sources maybe they can be used officially.

works fine for me, but I'm pretty sure i've read something similar yesterday on the official cm12.1 thread,
the "solution" seemed to flash the rom another time.
Thank you for this ROM! Smooth and stable! Still getting the external sdcard bad removals when device sleeps, but thats the only issue i have found. Thanks!
This is just a perfect build!
No issues. Even my BT/Wi-Fi disconnect issues are addressed.
Thanks a lot!!!!

I had the same problem - multiple rebooting and re-flashing the rom didn't help. I finally fixed it by flashing the latest official nightly CM12.1 rom (which immediately fixed the rotation problem), and then flash back this rom.
BTW I came straight from stock 4.4.2. Never flashed anything before. Not sure if this had to do with the rotation problem.
New build released
...with working HDMI and improved gamma. I think I also solved the issue some users are having with auto-rotation, but since I cannot reproduce the bug I cannot confirm whether it's fixed or not.

Hi everyone, i am currently building a weekly version (or monthly, depending on CyanogenMod fixes and patches) of CyanogenMod 12.1 for a while now, i thought i could share it with you, because peregrine cm-12.1 branch is no longer supported by CyanogenMod.
I made some little modifications to the framework, the device tree and the kernel, which you cand find in the source section.
For those who don't read at those stuffs, the changes are:
- Restored Ambient Display (and tuned a bit) and MotoDoze (wake gestures etc.), since the black screens have been fixed a while ago, this feature is now working correctly here on CM12.1
- Status bar date customizations
- Ability to hide SU icon on status bar (developer settings)
- KCAL support (adjust color contrast and saturation with this app: http://downloads.codefi.re/savoca/kcal)
- Proximity check on wake (disabled by default, you can enable it in Settings/Display), prevents accidental wake ups
- Dexpreopted
- Cyanogenmod's Screencast app from cm-13.0 branch
- Kernel security fixes from cm-13.0 branch
- PowerHAL updates from cm-13.0 branch
- General device tree updates from cm-13.0 branch
- LuK1337 gently found a fix for the GPS bug that forced you to erase modemst1 and modemst2 to make GPS work, so you won't need to do that anymore
- Updated all the libraries and apk/jar's from latest 5.1 build
- Updated Adreno libraries to 5.1 (Motorola is still using 5.0 ones on their 5.1 build)
- CyanogenMod fixed the soft reboots due to strictmode violations (https://github.com/CyanogenMod/andr...mmit/1e60f9b9ae10d46d028c19c90cf0f52d40ca620a), so this fix is of course included here, but is not included in the latest public snapshot for falcon on the CyanogenMod site, so this can be a reason of switching from that snapshot to this build.
- CM12.1 branch is pretty stable right now, so you shouldn't have any major problem

NOTE:
- Reported bugs without any useful logcat will just be trashed
- If you flash any CM12.1 custom kernel, you must flash this package: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B-xonQbKq2U2NEtIbXZaaEdCemM&usp=sharing
in order to downgrade your camera blobs from 5.1 to 5.0, if you don't this, the camera won't work ***
-- If, for any reason, you decide to go back to the kernel included in this ROM, you have to install again 5.1 camera blobs, the easiest way to do that is flashing the ROM .zip.
*** I updated camera blobs from the latest Motorola factory image, a kernel update was needed in order to make camera work after updating the blobs (that's not an hack, is a regular update from Motorola), but CyanogenMod dropped CM12.1 nightlies before doing this, so any CM12.1 based kernel doesn't contain that kernel update, that's why you need to downgrade camera blobs to 5.0.
I have to remind you that installing a custom kernel will break any future support by me
Hi fonz93. I am considering installing this version of CM12.1. I am curious about the Kernel. Have you implemented any changes other than the camera blobs stuff? I like to have Adreno Idler as it extends battery life a good deal for me.

No, i've just added few kernel security fixes and other minor fixes from cm-13.0 branch, the only external thing i've added is the KCAL support, i don't think i will add something more unless strictly required, sorry

That's cool. I'm on stock at the moment and it runs really stable. Not sure about honing to cm12.1 or cm13.
Thank you @fonz93!! I already loved CM10.2 you did for Huawei Y300, I really like your effort to make stable build for earlier versions when other devs change their focus to the last Android version
I'm currently on CM12.1 from beeto, can I have a brief excursus about difference with your build?
This build is made for stability, so it won't include the thousand of features that the other ROMs have, expecially in the kernel, i don't know which features the build are you referring to has, but you can find all the differences from the official cyanogenmod build in first post

Here's the rom I'm using http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/4g-development/rom-unofficial-cyanogenmod-11-t3017616
Well, the build is 3 months old, it doesn't include many important fixes (one of them is the strict mode violation fix that causes soft reboots) and many kernel security fixes.
It has a custom kernel while i use a cyanogenmod based kernel plus some fixes backported from the cm-13.0 branch. For the ROM side differences read the first post
This ROM looks very well, but I miss some features.
1.- DT2S on LockScreen
2.- DT2S on NavBar
3.- Network Activity on StatusBar
4.- TaskManager on StatusBar
Everything else is OK. Thanks for your work, Go on!
I am now including in my folder (the one where you can download my CM12.1) a build of TWRP 3.0 wich slightly differs from the one in this forum, thanks to Gabriele M (which will probably be the official TWRP mantainer), the long time wait for wiping /cache and /system and the not responsive touch is fixed, i am not opening a new thread because once Dees_troy (TWRP developer) merges Gabriele M changes into the official peregrine device tree for TWRP, i will stop mantaining my version as it would have no difference from the official build.
Note: The kernel source used to build the TWRP recovery is this: https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_kernel_motorola_msm8226/tree/cm-13.0, so it will work on every ROM, both Lollipop and Marshmallow.
sorry double post
I tried the rom, it's very fast and smooth.
I miss two things in particular:
1) switch network (2g/3g/4g) in quick settings (I really can't understand why CyanogenMod 12.1 doesn't have it, I've had this feature since CM7.2).
2) remove shutter sound when taking a picture.
I would love to have those features, but I would like to avoid installing Xposed modules.
Does anyone know why CM devs removed them in CM12/12.1?

It's not like they removed them, but the android source has changed so much that they couldn't just port the feature over the new version, no one came up with a working and bugfree patch on gerrit.
About the camera shutter, i don't know, it's not something i care that much, you can just get rid of it by installing a camera from play store

We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our Discord server! There, you can connect with other Carbon users and our developers, and you can get quicker responses to your bug reports. The invite link is right below.
Notice:
You need to flash FIX everytime you flash the ROM, for the ROM to get flashed and support OTA updates.
The ROM doesn't tinker with the persist partition and hence it won't alter your MAC addresses don't you worry about it and don't keep asking about that in the thread again and again.
And yeah, the VoLTE icon is missing but VoLTE works just fine, You don't need to worry about that too.

What do you mean "selinux is not fully functional"?
I'm downloading with very slow speed, about 20kbps , test both on 4G and wired internet, took me 14hrs to finish

What do you mean selinux is not "fully functioning". It is set to enforcing and everything is working fine. What else do you mean?
Can we make feature requests here? If yes. Is it possible to add inbuilt themes like many other ROMs have?
What is this fix for ??? What does it fix ???
Why it won't flash without ??? Didn't see that before.
Are you able to suppress caller ID with this rom or does it end to network or simcard error ?

"Carbon ROM Official builds are signed with custom keys like our stock ROM so inorder to flash the ROM it needs to verify the key for which though can be surpassed if we update the TWRP( it will take for me to do that) so, that fix.zip file replaces the key and adds OTA support to the ROM." ~ This is what developer told me when I asked him the same question.
And I didn't understand the suppress caller ID part. Can you elaborate?

Thanks for info.
For the caller id, open your phone app and try to suppress your number on outgoing calls. On all custom roms I get Network or simcard error and the option stays grey. It only work on every stock rom so far. Doesn't matter which phone app i use, doesn't matter which gapps I flash.
Navigation bar isn't working
Thanks for the rom. Does it have a true OTA or does it only download a zip we must then flash via TWRP?
Also, is it possible to add Live Display instead of Night light?

It has OTA, but he said he needs to fix TWRP first to support OTA.
most awaited rom finally on the ground.
Thanks CarbonRom team.
Edit-
After flashing the ROM it's not boot normally I forced it by pressing power key after it boot it's not detecting sim card so I can complete the setup wizard I'm only network data user no WiFi. I did clean flash wipe system wipe data wipe delvik and art cache then flash fix.zip, rom.zip, twrp.zip reboot to twrp flash gapps then mazisk 16.0.
I did flash mazisk first then gapps but no luck please correct me where I'm wrong
