[KERNEL][STOCK] Moggy v13 for falcon - Moto G Original Android Development

Lollipop kernel: here Moto G falcon variant only
Thanks to @lost101 for all his work and inviting me to falcon. I produced this kernel at his request and he tested it. The kernel has been confirmed working on 5.0.2 and 5.1 ROMs. This is a falcon version of my peregrine kernel project.
Changelog
- safe build optimisations
- CFQ set to IOPS mode
- Minimal debug options
- updated interactive governor to improve handling of load calculations
- cifs
- disabled access time stamps for fewer disk writes

Just a note to say this is unlikely to work on CM, so should only be flashed on stock based ROMs.

Interesting. Some more information for the first post? Maybe a feature list?
Will give it a try, thanks.

@bedalus well if you give some more info about hot plugs it use and governor's. But I will test it On aosp ROM. And will come back to report.

Thanks a lot for the kernel! Seems to work pretty good so far on my XT1031 with stock 5.1. Only thing is, I see kexec in the sources, but I can't get Multirom to work with it.

OP updated with brief overview of changes. View github for complete list of changes. There aren't that many. This is mostly a stock kernel with some minor tweaks.

Not working with Alberto aosp. So this is probably for stock lollipop I suppose.

Working fine till now on XT1033 Asia Dual sim running stock 5.0.2. Greatness of stock kernel with little optimizations.
Waiting for features to be included.

The omission of features was by design.

Is it a CM base?

This Kernel will only work with Motorola Stock or GPE. AOSP, CM12 or anything else will fail to boot.

I suppose it is caf based like stock CM

Nice kernel expecting more updates with lot of features

@bedalus - Maybe you are already aware, but the Falcon GPE Kernel requires an ext4 /data to boot.
With 4.4.4 - I could flash the non-GPE stock Kernel, and use the GPE ROM with f2fs-formatted /data.
Your Kernel works with the GPE ROM if /data is ext4, but not f2fs. Is there anything that can be done about this?

The falcon 5.0.2 f2fs source is here: https://github.com/MotorolaMobilityLLC/motorola-kernel/releases/tag/MMI-LXB22.99-36
I was actually using the kernel source from before they relocated to this new location. F2FS was working fine using this work-around on lollipop for peregrine. I actually didn't know the motorola f2fs source was available at this alternate repo until today, thanks to researching this issue for falcon.
Anyway, I've pulled their repo, and built a version for peregrine. It tested fine. For falcon, you can try this: http://d-h.st/4Upa
...although I'm not sure it will work. Both ways worked on peregrine. If the first way doesn't work for falcon, I don't think this way will either, but it's worth a try I guess!

How about a separated fork with some more features? i like stability but i miss a way to wake my phone without pressing power button, which is hard since im using a thick case. Im using Moggy with Identity Crisis 5.1 and i was on CM12.1. Got really used to wake gestures with proximity sensor. BTW, amazing work.

@bedalus - I've tried that new kernel, but still unable to boot GPE ROM with f2fs /data.
EDIT: The GPE 5.1 Kernel sources have been requested and are expected soon, if that is of any help. To clarify what I've said previously, with 4.4.4 - a stock unmodified Kernel would boot the GPE ROM with f2fs /data.

As for GPU Profile, No, daeiron choose not to mess with the GPU (irrc)

The only requirement for is that the stock boot.img needs to be extracted and repacked manually on a PC.
I'm working on a script to do the repacking, hope to have something working this weekend.

Hey guys, after playing around a little, I managed to compile PA for the i9300! Anyway, I don't have any changelog as such
Story:
At first I'd successfully managed PA to officially support the i9300, but since the developer who replaced me would really listen to anybody and continued building with Nameless sources, which led to seriously messed up builds, which in turn made PA drop support for i9300, I decided to step in and provide unofficial support for the i9300 (Again). So enjoy!
Features:
Theme Engine (Not available in 5.1 Alpha 1, available in the newer build)
Bugs:
Video Playback
Android File Host
Basketbuild
Now Basketbuild
Thanks to:
The awesome PA team!

Awesome, thanks a lot!

Downloading.
Thanks!
but i think that i will wait for it to be more in development.
The wake up from home butten, and probably other things as this is an alpha version.
BUT, as always, its good to see roms for our device. keep up the good work.
will definitely try this out when it go on a little.
It is happening!!! I know this day would come!! Love PA, downloading now. I'll post my experience later on! Thank you, so far.
Edit 24/02/2014 12:19 GMT -4 (Almost 48 hours after flash)
I've flashed it together with Boeffla-Kernel NG CM12, SuperSu Update 2.45, and Micro PA Gapps. Wifi works, Mobile Data, Camera and GPS either. I've not tested anything else. Only bug found is that TRIM is not working, but I dont know the future implications of it.
It is good for daily use, but some apps, as Mozilla Firefox and Facebook present FCs...
Wow i didn't expect this so soon for our device
great to see PA here
will see how it goes, will certainly try it very soon :good::good:

Edit 1 (22/02/2014 - 18:58 GMT -4)
I've just flashed it, together with Boeffla-Kernel NG CM12, SuperSu Update 2.45, and Stock PA Gapps. It is very laggy. Don't know if it is only me, or is normal. Any help would be appreciated.
Aside from it, Wifi works, Mobile Data and GPS either. I've not tested anything else.
Edit 2 (22/02/2014 - 21:09 GMT -4)
New clean flash, using the same kernel, SuperSu, but with the Nano-Gapps, seems to have improved performance. Only bug found is that TRIM is not working, wich may cause future problems, as slowdowns, lags and crashes. Camera is buggy, as always.

I tried the app and get some PIE error.
The so mentioned "PIE" is the very reason CM dropped support for old devices apparently
Congratulations on the build
I am curious.
Why did you choose to use the boeffla defconfig to build the kernel? Why not use the cm12/nameless/omni/slim stock kernels?
That would probably make the rom boot with stock kernel. Users who want boeffla can simply flash over the kernel aftwerwards, which they have to do now as well

I tried too and asked a similar question in the original thread. However, nobody reported success with a custom kernel. To be fair though, the build is working really, really well and I, for one, am just celebrating having a working Slim for the S5.
UPDATE: The Ktoonze AOSP kernel works
I used this rom all weekend with 0 issues. Everything worked as it should. Battery life was outstanding. The only hiccup I encountered was that I was unable to remove programs (browser, messenger, live wallpapers) via titanium. It says they are removed, but the icons are still there, the programs still launch, and when i go back into titanium the programs are there. Not a big deal just found it odd. Huge thumbs up!

I think so.
In any case it's always nice seeing development on our device, everything matters really.
Holy crap my favorite opo roms thanks!
I can't sign into any Google accounts, trying to set up Validus. Using 3/30 stock Happened, and am on b19 bootloader and modern. Thinking that shouldn't be the problem, because I've tested several Roms this week, and haven't had any trouble so far.

I'm having the same issue with Validus. Im using a A2017U with b19 bootloader and was flashing from AICP. Also, settings crashes when I try to change the display size at the welcome screen. I restored my backup and will test out one of the others later tonight.

If you flashed the A2107U Modem referenced in the OP, can you please tell me the Baseband version shown under Settings|About phone? Thanks.
Edit: So I flashed the A2017U Modem in the OP and still show a 00090 Baseband with my Android 7.1.1. I was expecting the 00095 Basdband.

the One posted on OP is the minimum requirement to run this rom but if you were already in B19 modem and bootloader there is no need to flash this

I am not responsible for anything that happens to you or your phone or anything! You are allowed to use this kernel but It is not my fault in anyway for causing thermonuclear war or bricking your phone.
Welcome to Kermit Kernel.
Kermit Kernel is intended to be installed on AOSP and uses Anykernel2 to do so. I wanted to share my work with all of you and also provide a smooth, customisation experience for you. This project was inspired by kylothow's work on AOSP and Kernels and big thanks to him for helping me in the beginning!

I just want the kernel to be in favour of what seems good by users!
What is Anykernel?
You can skip this if you don't want to know how it works.
Kernels tend to have a fully built boot image ready, it just flashes everything and it may not PATCH the necassary files. This means you're gonna have to create a different boot image for different roms such S8 Ports, Note FE Ports and AOSP ROMS. Things such as compatibility maybe an issue also because new things may not be supported by old things (Newer RAMDISK on an older ROM).
That's when Anykernel comes into play. It only includes the zImage (actual prebuilt kernel), dtb (the instructions for hardware stuff), and patches used ontop of the stock ramdisk. It takes the previous/stock kernel, replaces dtb and zImage and then continues to patch the ramdisk. Voila, it's done. It makes it easier for the devs to work on the kernel and has better compatibility! It does come with it's disadvantages, It can't be flashed ontop of other custom kernels that have modifications in the ramdisk. The patch and ramdisk will cause some trouble because there interefering with each other alright!

How do I install this?
If you already have AOSP with it's stock kernel.
1) Reboot into recovery and flash it like normal
If you have AOSP with a custom kernel like PRIME, Prophecy or Primal.
1) Go to the AOSP ZIP you installed, extract boot.img from there.
2) Boot into recovery, flash the boot image. Don't forget to switch the option from ZIP to IMG if you can't find it in the directory you extracted it from.
3) Then go back to home screen in recovery, and go flash Excel Kernel
I really don't need to explain this in detail and such because if you got here it mean's you know how to install AOSP ROMS. It's pretty simple.
