[Q] Charging Problem

whenever i connect my 0% battery z1 to power supply, it behaves strangly sometimes, like no red illumination, which indicate no charging(press power button nothing shows on screen). or, red illumination but u press the power button to check how much the battery has been charged & screen remains black. disconnecting phone to power supply & reconnecting works sometimes only. it is still new, bought during christmas, but it freaks me out now.

Try to do a factory reset. If that didn't work take it to Sony service center while it's still under warranty.

I never let mine to go inder 14% coz it's very bad for the battery to be totally dischaged!

It's better to get it to 0% once in a mother (or less/more).

Are you using the charger and USB cable that was provided with Z1? I recently discovered that not all charging adapters and cables are made equal, and some cables don't provide enough current to charge certain devices.

This is not true, you will actually decrease the life of your battery by doing this. The XZ1 uses a Li-on battery chemistry.

Li-on batteries are well known for being problematic at low levels of charge (can't recharge, decrease in life, etc).
Lithium ion chemistry prefers partial discharge to deep discharge, so it's best to avoid taking the battery all the way down to zero. Since lithium-ion chemistry does not have a "memory", you do not harm the battery pack with a partial discharge. If the voltage of a lithium-ion cell drops below a certain level, it's ruined.

Hopefully, the power management circuitry will prevent anyone from reaching the "ruined" voltage levels, but I've already seen quite a few people posting about phones which aren't turning back on after running them down to 0%. Both of those links provide good information on preserving Li-on battery life.
If you like your phone, don't discharge below 10% and let the phone nurse on a charger often.

@xasbo You actually get the battery to 0% once a month (more/less) to keep the battery calibrated as flashing ROMs changes battery calibration.
All my previous phones (Xperia play, Xperia go, Xperia Z, and now Z1) went to 0% and then 100% more than once with no problem at all. (Z1 only once so far)

You can do what you like, but you will not escape the physical chemistry of the battery. Full discharges are bad for the health of the battery.

Doubt it. Maybe a design problem. Either way, you shouldn't discharge that battery that far.

[Q] Is my battery life normal?

I've had a Nexus 6 for some days now, and its battery life doesn't seem too good. I'm used to leave my phone overnight and wake up to it having over 90% battery left, but with the N6 it usually has a little over 80. Today it had 83%, and after browsing the web for some minutes (maybe 10 or 15) it's down to 75%... That's almost 1% a minute, which seems a lot to me.
If I take a look at the battery screen, I see this:

If I'm not mistaken, something seems to have kept the phone awake during the night. Is that right? I'm using M preview 2, could that be causing the problem? Is the phone defective? What could be wrong here?

PS. Battery life is at 71%... That's 4% down since I wrote that part above. This thing drains so fast it's scary.

It could be anything from the ROM itself to a Rouge app. I would flash back to bone stock and see what you get over a few days with a couple charge cycles. And then compare with another ROM.

Yes the andoird m preview 2 is not showing battery stats correctly. You will probably notice that once your phone goes down to 1% it could stay there for an hour or so. Just be sure to run the phone to complete 0%. Then charge to 100% and leave for about an hour after that. That should recalibrate it after a few cycles. It is a widespread "issue" with the m preview 2.

why dont you keep it on the charger overnight, that way itll be at 100% for you??? it does not hurt the phone, at all.

+1 to this. I use a lower voltage charger, not the turbo charger, and charge my N6 while I sleep. I have since day one with this beast. I've had it since November 20.

i use the turbo charger. but it doesnt matter. if you watch the voltage going in, it get drastically reduced above 92%, and again at like 97%. and when the device actually stops charging, its at 0% voltage going in. btw, most times it does not stop charging at 100%. that happens anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes after hitting 100%. thats because our battery % is slightly off.

My stock charger is not working anymore. The phone doesn't charge when connected to it. Anybody know any way to get a company original with reasonable price ?

Buy any new 2A charger. It will even charge your phone a little faster than the stock charger. I am using Samsung Galaxy Note 4 charger. It charges my Zenfone 2 Laser a bit faster due to its high power.

But it is not good for the phone right ? The input is designed for only 1.35 A. A higher current could damage the phone. For how long have you been using it and is there any reduction in battery life ?

I have been using it for roughly 2 months and didn't notice any degradation in performance. I hope it doesn't blast one day.

But when I use a 2 amp charger, after removing it from charger, the charge drops very quickly, even on standby. For me it lost 30 percent after 2 hours on standby. Also the phone gets heated up on charging. Now I use 1 amp samsung charger. It works fine and no problems. Battery backup is greater than ever and the phone does not heat up on charging. Try it.

For anyone in India still facing the problem, now I use a Jio-Fi router charger. 5 V and 1A. High quality product. Phone battery has no problem. Just like old times. Model ZE550KL (Z00L).

Same here...wasted a lot of chargers but all work only for a month...one even costed me 1000rs usb cable

In the end of the graph after a blank(Switched off) and little charging time, I removed the charger and tried draining the battery, it went down from around 50% to 15-20% and came back again to 50% without any charging, it kept on happening for 3 to 5 times straight and i got sleepy in the end, then reset dalvik and cache, and it was normal again.
had a pretty fun time considering it's a 2 years old battery.

Help on battery drain.

Can someone help me, Im having a battery drain on my lenovo a7000-a,
I already bought 2 Batteries and change roms, but still my battery keep draining and Ive already tried all those calibrate methods around the internet.
From 100% down to around 80-60% is fine, but when it reaches around 60% below, my battery starts draining for like -1% every 30 secs.
Tried different roms and a few apps running.
40% 1:07am down to 1% at 1:14am

Lol welcome to the club.
The battery drain is a classic feature of MTK chipsets and that's a reason why people don't prefer MTK here at xda.
The drain can't be fixed. The kernel sources seem messed up by mtk and unfortunately even though I'm the only one who reached to extreme depths in mtk source in this forum, I couldn't find a solution. Maybe it's just a hardware level issue. Maybe it's an issue with the chip's design itself. One thing I found out was that though we can't fix the drain, we can move it to different parts of battery %. Like you can drop the 20% right at max 100% but keep the rest 80% fine. Or, as by default, you get a drop from around 30-35 upto 15-10%.

Am I the only one who thinks that this is a way to make the battery capacity seem bigger/phone lasting longer? That its not a bug but rather a "feature" for manufacturer to make buyers think that phone has better battery than it actually has ?

Nope, I don't think so. During the last few battery % it lasts suspiciously too long, and after the phone dies, you can reboot it and still find 12% battery suddenly come up.
So I think it is actually a bug and a serious one

Question Accubattery showing Battery health at 47% for a new phone (1 month old)

I purchased this about a month ago. I have been reading a lot of posts out here about people having fairly low battery life. So I had installed Accubattery to see if the discharge is abnormal. I checked today and it seems like Accubattery is claiming that my battery is only at 50~% health. Now I am unsure that if this is because it is a genuine fault or because this phone is supposed to have 2 2500mAh batteries and Accubattery is detecting only one of them. Any idea about this?

I've had my 11T Pro for roughly two weeks and I have the same issue.
It doesn't read charging speed correctly which confuses it's health calculations.
I'm sure your phone is fine.

Those SOT numbers seem erratic. Some reasonable, others look impossible.
When you're using the browser not watching vids the usage should low.
As the previous poster mentioned it may just not have good sensing for battery usage.
Accubattery is only as good as the data it's getting. Even then it can screw up. I don't understand what's going on there.
Rather strange. I don't have that phone so I don't know what it's nominal run time should be. If it's running cool and you can get 8-10 hours SOT you're probably in the ball park.

Hmmm, okay. I'll continue observing my phone's behaviour then. I do get over 8-10 hours SOT on medium usage. Additionally, I read from other threads that the 120W charger isn't charging the phone fully and it makes sense to charge with a lower power charger. So I will try that as well. Will keep this thread updated if I see any improvements.

Accubattery doesn't work well with dual battery setup, that's why it's showing Battery health at 47%.
Set design capacity to 2500.

11T PRO has 2x 2500mah battery for ultra fast charging. Set the design capacity to 2500 and you will be fine.

This presents a potential problem in the future as one battery can degrade and fail independently of the other. You really need to be able to monitoring both.
If the manufacturer designed it properly each battery should have its own power controller in a perfect world. Not sure if this is so on any of the dual battery phones...
