T-Mobile 32 gb with 39gb system storage??? - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Bought a 32gb note 5 from T-Mobile (because they didn't have 64gb) and when I got home , I saw this ..... Has it happened to anyone else? Did they accidentally give me a retail device? Can I clear some of the memory?

Looks like they gave you a 64gb anyways. That's pretty great! Best bet I would think would be to just grab the stock firmware (wherever that may be) and try to Odin it. Should clear out the extra junk.

Somethings wonky.

Been looking for the stock firmware but can't find it.

If so, go to the correct forum

why is that and how can you be so sure ??
thank you
No, in fact, I am not sure.
Does it look like this in the picture?

now that you mentioned 3G, maybe I am wrong. Does it have a SIM card slot?
Edit: never heard of a tab with 256GB space.
It must have an SSD disk inside?

it is identical
but this one does not have the samsung logo in the upper center and the front camera is in the lower right corner and the spacing between the 3 buttons are less .
and it does say that it has 256gb
i cant see a sim card slot but there is a slot called TF card and it has a hdmi slot too
and it is 5" ?
then this is not the right forum.
Now, I wonder about the 3G you mention? does it mean it is CDMA since it has no SIM slot?
(unless the writing at the back is wrong? the 3G and the 256GB thing ...)
if it is real, the specs is AMAZING.

this is the first time im seeing a tab with 256 gb
but then maybe its a fake but the os it loads and its pure android but i cant get to any recovery mode or download mode .. thats the biggest problem and without proper model number the right fw is also difficult to get ..
i have tried many ways but no recovery mode or download mode
big help Needed :/
Can you post pics of this tab?
guys i dont know how but the tab just started and model number is to2a .. any forum threads for that one ??
it is not to2a
it is T02A
You can google for T02A tablet and see a lot of them, usually 7" , like the EKEN T02A
Edit: I think most of the info at the back of the tablet is fake.
It is likely, not Samsung, not 3G, and not 256GB

Storage Space issues?

Hey all,
I'm due for my upgrade next month, and I'm stuck between the X and the S4. From a hardware and software perspective, the X wins hands-down (I love my Nexus 7 and the X is the closest thing I can get on VZW). My main hesitation is storage space, or lack thereof, which is why I'm considering the S4 with its microSD slot; I like to have options. Do you have any storage issues, and how do you manage it? I need to keep about 1.5 gigs of stoage space for an app that I use at work that have to be on the device, otherwise a little music and pictures (maybe 2g). Ideas?
I'm having very similar concerns. I know I can't make it on 16GB alone so I will wait on either the Moto Maker site to go live for Verizon (in which case we should have the option for 32GB), or wait for the Nexus 5 which should come out (hopefully) around the same time. Also, around that time we should see a price decrease along with the option for a hard-wood back (I think they're pretty sexy). I've currently got an S3 with 32GB and a 64GB micro SD card, which I don't utilize nearly as much as I could, I just like knowing the space is there.

Getting Xposed to work with kingroot

I have just rooted my phone with kingroot and I'm wondering if there is any way to get Xposed to work, even if it is just temporary.

No, unfortunately not. Wish there was something to say other than no.
Requires System R/W permissions which the Turbo doesn't have
Back when the turbo was first root wasn't there a way to achieve temporary write protect off? How could I do that? I don't care if it makes my phone unstable.

If you're looking for an answer you won't get it. I wrote a script for it. But all it would do was write to cache. Nothing system side is ever actually touched. The apps just think it did but it was actually just in cache.
You'll have to wait for something else.
time to return this phone to verizon and get a galaxy instead.

it was a very good suggestion. However after doing some research i quickly found that 1) no external storage and 2) can't get 64gb for verizon. 32gb is NOT acceptable when you can't even add storage!! Also if i got an unlocked 64gb, i read that it will be a PITA is even possible to hook it up on verizon.
So unfortunately it seems I am going back to the s5.
or there is mofo root and system images with xposed baked in...
The battery on the Turbo is so much better than having to look for a charger at 4pm for the S5
Call me crazy, but I just sold my Nexus 6 and got a droid turbo. When you've tried a few ROMS, what your aiming for ultimately is a quick might ROM with added features, and that's what the Turbo does have. Right out of the box. Nexus 6 had wonderful battery life + turbo charger, better than any phone I've ever owned, but the Turbo has the turbo charger and an even BETTER battery! I kinda miss the whole material thing, I can't switch to ART-mode for some reason prolly cuz I rooted it and stuff.. Who knows. I don't care because supposedly the lollipop update will be out and that's good enough for me
Oh and plus the N6 would be unusable whenever I docked it in my car because it uses magnets to hold my phone in place.
Too lazy to figure that one out, too busy playing with my new car.

The Nexus 6 has no removable SD card. The Turbo cannot be rooted since the bootloader is locked.
I ended up picking up returning the $600 turbo to verizon, for which I had paid cash (for which they ROBBED ME AT GUNPOINT OF $50 but that's another story, not an actual gun but they stole that from me as a "restocking fee", robbery), and instead picked up a Verizon Galaxy S5 on craigslist, downgraded it to 4.4.2 (an upgrade in my opinion), and rooted it.
I've been using this Galxy S5 for a long time now fully rooted and everything. Happy. I had to jump through a few hoops with the OS downgrade etc to get it rooted though. But now that it's done I am happy. I would love to get a bigger slimmer and better phone with removable SD card and removable battery, that can be rooted, but it seems my S5 is the best I can do. Maybe I will have to wait a few more years. I was looking at the moto x which seems viable, except for the fact there is no removable battery, so I will probably not get it. My S5 still has at least a few more years of life left.
That's fine though, my S5 has been working beautifully for me. What I really want is a new 7.0 tablet with a removable SD card with more memory and more ram and a more vivid screen that is 7.0 inches and not 8.0 or 8.0 inches because that is too big, but I am stuck with the tab 4 that only has 8gb of memory, since no tab exists that's better that is 7.0 inches.

Could have saved yourself 50$ restocking fee with a simple search. Costs $20 with sunshine to unlock turbo bootloader.
I know, old topic, but, i somehow managed to install xposed framework with kingo root. But I don't know precizely how did this happen.
Initially, i couldn't install xposed, then I installed CWM with it's recovery from Store via APK, then I was flashing something through this recovery, and in the end, it always ask to prevent from unroot, then I was tapping yes.
When making one or all of these operations, xposed framework installed fine.

What area are you from? I purchased a 128GB G920T from T-Mobile last week. They did not have any in stock at the local store, but they were able to ship one to me. Are you saying that this carrier no longer has the 128GB option or that it isn't in store anymore? Also, I would try swappa, I have had some relatively good success there. You're looking at about $600 for the phone if not purchasing it from the carrier though.
correct

Shame I can't find it in white anywhere, but I'm quite happy with my regular White S6..
What's gonna suck is the S7 is coming early next year, likely April is what the T-Mobile people are telling me..
Now that's the reason why they should have include SD Card slots like in the future you need a higher speed and capacity card. I discovered an app called Filmic Pro coming to android. I was excited that to tell my brother to get 128 GB high speed SD card for film recording* but found out that its not possible. Adding card slots isn't a huge loss even though majority people don't use it since the device is still being bought by both crowds anyway.
*Note: I use Canon EOS 5d Mark II and I still wanted to try out new things.

It isn't a huge loss, but according to Google it does represent a security flaw.

Note 9 India news, infos

So starting first thread of Note9
Guys please post latest info about availability of Note 9 Specifically in India
Currently in India only Pre-registration (Interest) started hopefully pre-book should start soon after lauching (9thAug18)
So got the device demo and checked following things
1.OEM Unlock available out of box on indian version
2.unfortunately infinity WP with animation while unlock is removed. Though I have checked sources on dump framework and it's partially removed so I still have hope for custom rom users
3.A/B seamless updates I don't found
4.treble support enabled
5.Dolby no much different from s9+ (I felt same like on my N8 ported rom)
6.Spen have option long press - open camera
While with single press some action according app opened
Camera - take picture
Gallery - next, double click previous
Same with music tracks
7.I couldn't confirm but according dealer, both SIM will work with LTE
Note 9 coming with Gear S3 for 4k extra ?
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I have a Note 8 and interested in what Samsung will offer to those wishing to upgrade. If the cost of the Note 9 works out to under 30k, after the buyback and cashbacks, I will surely be tempted to upgrade!
128 gb or 512 gb
What do you guys suggest......Is it worth spending 17k extra for 384 GB storage and 2 GB RAM.........
I am currently using S7 edge 128 GB version and have only 8-10 GB free on internal storage. If given an option, would want to keep max internal memory to avoid deleting any photos/videos from phone and get into hassles of managing it on memory card, but is paying extra 17k worth it. I am inclined towards going for 512 GB, Others ??
Unless you are rooted with TWRP, having extra space as internal storage is always pain. If anytime you need to factory reset on stock non rooted, you gonna lose everything, and we never know when device mess up and need to do factory reset. I prefer to have Ext SD to keep static data without bothering losing it (Though ext sd can corrupt but no nothing is forever lol !)
I won't pay extra for just storage. RAM I believe also enough with 128GB

Rooting from day 1 or as and when root is available is obvious. And i had a lot of memory cards going kaput. Logically it doesn't make sense to pay 17k for storage, but emotionally inclined towards 512 GB
Preorder offers currently, are as as lame as S9/S9+ offers when first launched. Within a few weeks it'll be much more attractive for sure.

Till s8/s8+, the offers included cashback, goodies and screen replacement offers. B4 S6 it was with steep price cuts almost every month..... Samsung's strategy.

Pre-booked ocean blue 128gb from Samsung website, just wondering if I'll be able to use it with 2017 gear vr. Anyone has any idea if it'll be possible?
I checked the upgrade option in the My Galaxy app and I am getting a quote of Rs 38550 for my Note 8. This includes the Rs 6000 exchange bonus. So the 128GB Note 9 will work out to 29350.
Now the big question -- is it worth it?
Also, is 38,550 a good price for a one year old Note 8 without any scratches or issues? Or will I get a better price if I sell it directly to some shop or on Cashify?

Very much subjective. If we think, we are losing almost half amount for one year old device when we selling it but that's also true, we don't get more money than this. Here two things are important
1.If you look for budget, think your self what you are getting extra with 30K? If you convince yourself then go for it else leave.
2.No issue of budget and you are crazy, then go for it.
