Galaxy Tab S2 LTE (T715) multi user - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Does anyone here managed to configure multiple user accoounts on his/her T715?
I have a version with Android 5.0.2, I don't have an option for user accounts configuration anywhere. Can I enable it somehow?
Anyone knows if WIFI-only version has this option? (I saw a video review on youtube (sorry, can't post the link) where there was 'Users' option in Settings on (I think) WiFi version)
Thanks

Hi,
I own a sm-t815 running android 5.0.2 and have no multiuser option as well. Just like you I saw a video on youtube with an 710 running android 5.1.1 having multiuser enabled.
The other day i went to my local store looking if the multiuser option is only available to wifi only devices and found out, that neither the 710 nor the 810 running android 5.0.2 had the option enabled.
My hopes are that with the update to 5.1.1 multiuser will be anabled for all versions of the s2.
Anyone can confirm if the update to 5.1.1 (for the wifi only versions it should already be available) enabled multiuser on his or her device?

I'm very interested in this as well. To be honest, multi user was one of the reasons I sold my iPad Air and went for an android Device.

I have T 710 that has a multi user setting under Users. It has a user when I created a Google account. And it allows me to add more users . I'm on 5.0.2.

Can you provide a Screenshot?

Yes the developers mode is enabled and i got the tablet from hong kong.

It has nothing to do with developer mode, I have it activated as well. Someone stated Samsung might have deactivated it in their Firmware in some models.

Mine is it 710. No root, no custom recovery. It has multi user options out of box.

Mine is T815 - Android 5.0.2 - Bought in The Netherlands.
NO Multi user support.

root access needed...
My T815Y doesn't have multiuser support out-of-the-box too. Rooted it then followed this handy steps solved my problem.

I'm not an expert but as far as I know you cant have OTA update on rooted device. I usually update manually but It's your call.

For me it is the same, T815, PHN from the netherlands and no multi-user functions.
This is odd, because Sammobile says in both their review and their hands-on that the Tab S2 has multi-user mode. And they also say in the hands-on that they have received their review units from Samsung Netherlands.
So there's a quite serious conclusion that can be drawn here: Samsung seems to supply different spec devices to reviewers than are available for sale. Or the Sammobile reviewers are dreaming about multi-user mode. Not quite as serious as emissions, though...

I have one from polish brandstore. 5 of 6 devices on their table have the same issue. Only 1 works fine. Propably it's a software problem. Tomorrow i'll receive more info from their service and from the main central.

No multiuser also on my t815y and i need it. Seems Samsung did't work good on this tablet

I guess we'll have to wait for 5.1.1 update for us user of lte model of galaxy tab s2 to have multiuser feature. As of now, only wifi version with updated to 5.1.1 has this.

Samsung Note 4 is getting Android 5.1.1 update
It is already known that Samsung is going to release Android 5.1 to Note 4 by the end of this month. Samsung already began the rollout of Android 5.1.1 for Galaxy Note 4 with Model no. SM-N910C in Russia. But the rollout hasn't started in any other countries yet. So it seems that Samsung is going to rollout Android 5.1.1 to European Galaxy Note 4 unlocked editions in the next week. American carriers like Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile may rollout the update to their Galaxy Note 4 devices in August.
In India and Middle East countries also Samsung may start the rollout to Retail editions of Note 4 in the next Month. In Australia also, Samsung will begin the rollout in August. The exact change log of the update didn't reveal yet. But according to analysts, the South Korean tech giant is not going to bring big changes in Note 4 phablet with this update and it is not like the Galaxy S6 Android 5.1.1 update. So we won't see the addition of features like option to remove S Finder and Quick Connect toggles in the notifications, or advanced camera features like RAW support in Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 update.
But Android 5.1.1 update brings HD voice calling facility and fixes for some bugs. With HD voice calling users can talk in calls with HD quality over supported carriers. App crashes, Phone restarts and Battery drain bugs have been fixed in this update. Touchwiz user interface also will be improved after updating to Android 5.1.1. So this update is worthy to install and we are recommending it.

The 5.1.1 system dump is available on a Russian forum. If you search you will find it, unfortunately it doesn't boot so it looks like we need the kernel or bootloader too. I have it downloaded and deodexed already

I would not call it "system dump".
It is a compressed file of "app" folder.
Also, 162mb for a system dump? seriously?

Another update downloading for the SM-T800 (309.91 MB)

Another software update just appeared for the SM-T800. It is 309.91 MB.
I will provide more info after it is installed.

Got it couple of days ago on SM-T805. The most important bit for me was that it fixed the HD playback of Netflix which was broken in the Lollipop update.

Looks like a kernel and SE update in preparation for marshmallow.
We had the same update right before Lollipop ? as well.

Chances is slim due to their ****ty update policy.

Note 3? NO! It still in 5.0 (the only buggy release they have).
Why? Coz SAMDUNG! That's why.

I just got my update and all seems quite smooth except I just loaded ComicRack and it now takes forever when changing the page. Use to be much quicker! Not sure why this would be. I've tried restarting and clearing the cache and also un-mounting my SD card. Hmm...
When are they going to update to 5.1.1 ? Samsung is terrible!

I said this because there was nothing changed looking to the Lollipop firmware.
They have only added some thingqs from the Note 5 thats all.
No themed UI, same apps, same Touchwizz Launcher etc...
I prefer my N910G port wich have no difference with that OTA but themed like Note 5.

Note 8 Exynos: do you have the 5 GHz option in the advanced hotspot configuration?

I posted the same question on the S8+ forum:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/help/s8-exynos-5-ghz-option-hotspot-t3675821
My Exynos S8+ SM-G955F doesn't offer this option for selection, only 2.4 GHz.
I suspect the 5 GHz option for hotspot is only available on the Snapdragon version...

I'm on the Korean Exynos N950N and I have it.
Actually both the posts were useful, so now I know that this option can be available both on Snapdragon and Exynos version.
It looks like that there is no limitation in the Exynos SOC itself, it's apparently a Samsung decision to show or hide this option in the regional firmwares.
Hi guys,
Just found this old thread while searching in Google for a similar question. I have the Note 8 too, Exynos version (SM-N950F) and, as seems by the previous post, Exynos also allows to broadcast the hotspot at 5.0 GHz, so it might be a firmware limitation.
Do you know if there is any specific ROM, CSC, tweak; anything that would give me that option to use the hotspot at 5.0 GHz? I have found this post by @phatWares mentioning a quite old tool by Wanam. Can anybody confirm this still would work? I ask because I'm fully on stock on my Note, so I'd like to have some assurance before tripping Know, flashing ROM, etc.
Thanks in advance for any feedback you can provide.
I had the same question and did some research.
It seems there is a new EU directive that restricts the use of 5ghz frequencies for mobile hotspots and this is why we are running into this issue (has to do with interference with police radars and such).
Logically one way to circumvent this limitation is to change CSC to a country that does not have such limitation.
I am outside the EU and I have a EU phone with British firmware and CSC, I have yet to find a proper CSC to switch to.

Thanks for your reply aljazzair. I'm also outside of the EU and US, but I think my phone is (SM-N950F) is an international unlocked version; I don't know what that is supposed to comply to.
Are you rooted? Have you tried the tool that I've mentioned in my previous post from Wanam? It seems to be a CSC Editor that allows you to enabled the 5.0 GHz option with a checkbox.

Hi,
My phone is not rooted. Like you, I have a SM-N950F (european unlocked).
.
I did change the CSC on my phone successfully once, it was a couple of weeks ago.
.
The reason was that I was on a TUR CSC due to an OTA update whilst in Turkey with a Turkish SIM on a TIM phone which had XFE firmware.
.
I was annoyed by the resulting samsung software notifications in Turkish, which is a language I do not understand, so I wanted them gone.
.
My CSC is now BTU/BTU/TIM.
.
The procedure I used involves using odin to flash what is called a "combination rom".
The combination rom essentially replaces the stock rom with samsung software used by samsung support engineering staff for diagnosis and repair.
.
It is critical to only flash a combination ROM that is compatible with your bootloader version.
.
I had the DSG1 stock ROM with the latest bootloader when I flashed the combination ROM, so the version I used is:
.
COMBINATION_FA71_N950FXXU7ASG1_CL12991683_QB24738638_REV00_user_mid_noship.tar.md5
.
There is a seemingly cumbersome procedure to follow involving Odin, several factory resets and reflashing multiple times, and it worked flawlessly for me.
It is described here:
.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74324845&postcount=87
.
I would re-use this procedure again without hesitation.
.
But I have yet to find a CSC code that would allow 5ghz hotspot capabilities (so non-EU) whilst retaining Samsung Pay and avoiding software notifications in a language I do not understand
.
If you know of such a CSC code, pls share
Perhaps somebody that tried that Wanam application to edit the CSC could confirm? That might be worth rooting for
