You are in luck, there is a CM ROM for your device, found here:

How to get to CM is another question, the information for that can be found here:

Check the ROMs forum for Marshmallow ROMs. As for Nougat, no devs have built yet for Honor 4x.
backup your data using twrp to rollback easily
Che2-UL00 has no Custom roms atm (any Kirin 620 tho), so for now, we can just wait and hope, the users with CHE1-XXX have custom roms, since they have snapdragon

That shows the latest firmware, and is not on colorOS , is RUI.
