[KERNEL] Permissive Lollipop 5.1.1 kernel for T710/T810 - Galaxy Tab S2 Android Development

This is a permissive kernel with rooting restrictions removed.
Due to the new security policies in 5.1.1 you will need this kernel to root your device.
This will trip the knox flag thereby potentially voiding your warranty.
I hold no responsibility in any case if you decide to flash this product.

Officially its not available yet, but im trying to modify the t810 kernel for the t815 for when they release the 5.1.1 rom

I had a bit of a challenge to get this installed on my SM-T710. I couldn't get Odin to install the kernel using either boot or AP. I did get this working by installing your TWRP build, extracting the IMG file and having TWRP install the IMG file.

What was the issue?

Odin froze/did not complete on the flash. No fail message or even window greying. I tried 3.10.6 and 1.85. After about 10 tries, I decided to use twrp to flash the image and it worked fine.

Tried 3.10.7 and several older versions with no luck. Was able to root by flashing the image file in twrp and then flashing the autoroot tar file in Odin so I'm good to go.

The tar package must have got corrupted in the upload or something.
Will re-upload.

if you already on 5.1.1 ...I believed you have to root first before you can install the TWRP...
I was not sure how did they flashed TWRP without got the Tab rooted first...
more specific instruction ... would be nice...
Thanks

from what i understood they were flashing twrp in odin... from the instructions I read it appeared you could update to 5.1.1 and then begin the process...
Do I need to flash back to 5.0.2 and if so which one? I've got a US 710 wifi.

I just got the root working...
no need to go back for 5.0.2
from 5.1.1 stock..
1-flash TWRP
2-copy t710_5.1.1_boot.img (pulled out from the corrupted TAR) place it in your Tab
3-go to TWRP
4-select install from Image
5-flash t710_5.1.1_boot.img
6-go back download mode, and flash the CF_auto root
7-go back download mode again, and flash the TWRP again
8-go back and verified got Rooted and Custom TWRP
Thanks

The stock recovery gets reflashed by the OS when you reboot. To prevent this from happening you have to reboot immediately into recovery after flashing. TWRP will then patch it to prevent this from happening.
If you disable 'Auto reboot' you can reboot after flashing by holding POWER + HOME + VOL DOWN then immediately switch to VOL UP whilst still holding the other buttons when the tablet restarts.

Yes I can, I tried to downgrade to GB but it failed as well :/
I don't really clearly understood your issue.
But if you want to flash a Stock ICS Rom, start ODIN PC, start your SGNote in download mode (button volume down + home + power), then connect your SGNote to your PC and flash via ODIN PC.
If you don't know exactly how to use ODIN PC, check tutos on the forum.

Reinstall your ADB/USB drivers, make sure you're using USB2.0 port - for me USB3.0 always results in failed flash, ultimately switch USB ports.

The file you download from dr. Ketan is a .rar file, unzip it once and you get a .tar file. Flash that file with Odin in pda section. So don`t unzip the .tar file again.

To start with - you need root to flash this custom ROM, so unrooting your device was a mistake, you have to root it again.
Now, i've never flashed Criskelo's ROM, but from what i've read in the thread, you need to root your device, flash Chainfire's ICS repack via mobile odin, and then flash criskelo rom via CWM. Do not unpack the .zip file, you need to point CWM to that file.

When you boot into recovery, is it CWM recovery?
If you are talking about not seeing the CWM app, don't worry about that.

You installed GB kernel over JB system, that is not gonna work. Do what Patlcs told you. You can install just kernel, remove md5 from stock firmware, open it with WinRAR or 7-zip and remove all except kernel files (two of them). And flash them via Odin.

1. What problem?
2. He flashed GB kernel over JB - that is his problem.
3. How to downgrade - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2195673
4. Solution to have TWRP on JB is to install CoCore kernel with TWRP recovery, just go to developer section of our phone and look for CoCore thread.

Odin

I was running stock rooted Lollipop ....Wanted to try out a new rom so when I tried to reboot to TWRP nothing happened...So I decided to just reflash TWRP via Odin and it failed...tried to reflash cf auto root via Odin and failed. I was able to flash the NK4 firmware via Odin. And same fail message came up for Cf Auto Root and TWRP...Went to check recovery and I'm back to stock. Tried doing a factory reset in stock recovery and failed...preload destination does not exist! Fudge bananas! So I flashed the firmware (OC6). It's working fine but I can not use Cf Auto root nor flash TWRP via Odin....Any ideas what's going on?

Perhaps you don't have the latest versions of cf-autroot. odin and twrp recovery.
The latest versions are twrp v2.8.6.0, odin v3.10.0 and cf-autoroot.
Both twrp and cf-autoroot are specifically for the N910T Tmobile Note 4.
Here is a direct download link to the latest versions:

Problems with marshmallow update. Emergency recovery

Hello all. I'm having some trouble getting my note 5 to work again. I downloaded the new Marshmallow update today from sammobile and proceeded to flash it with odin. After 10 seconds I got the fail red box in odin, disconnected my phone and got this error: '' an error has occured while updating the device software. Use the emergency recovery function in the smart switch pc software''.
So I went ahead and read in a couple of forums and saw that people got their phones working back using Kies. I did that. Entered my model number (sm-n920g) and entered the serial number. Kies then started to download the firmware and the recovery failed. I have no idea what to do really. Should I try using the Smart Switch program instead? Flashing a lollipop one via odin? Or what? I've never had any trouble before flashing stock roms or customs on any of my other phones, so I'm getting a bit frustrated after Kies didn't work. Any recommendations would be gladly appreciated!
I would personally go back and flash the stock lollipop firmware and double check that the marshmallow update you are using is not corrupted. Also, make sure to use twrp 3.0.1 as a recovery. I was having boot loops at first until I discovered the correct recovery file.

I think this is bad!

I was installing xposed on my 810 and things went to hell. I can only reboot to recovery and download mode which shows an error in the Pic. I have no idea what happened or what to do. Also get error when trying to flash stock firmware with Odin.

It falls in its warranty from Samsung. Is it possible to extract just the stock recovery from an image and push back on with adb. They may not liking booting to TWRP when they turn it on. If it's that bad. Appreciate the help.

I suggest you flash with the PIT file, repartition checked.

What a great site! I had to create an account to get the file but it also failed immediately after the Don not turn off target log and re-partition failed right after. Yikes!
Edit: reboot no longer goes to recovery. Pic attached.

Why are you trying to flash firmware for the T810 when your device is a T813, totally different device? No wonder the firmware won't flash!

I saw that too. It is an 810. I have 2 of them! Im not sure what made that change. For more detail here's the scenario before it went to crap
-installed xposed app
-installed 3minit rebooter
-reboot to recovery to flash xposed zip
-flashed arm 64 version instead of arm
-reboot, but only goes to recovery.
-cursing, throwing stuff, failure
