XT1045 - "No Service" / radio issues - Moto G 2014 LTE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had my phone for quite some time now. Bought it off Amazon in december 2014, and been running CM 11/12/12.1 ever since.
However, a completely new problem surfaces. After the last nightly, the cell radio seems to be dead, and rolling back to the older/stock roms was no luck
- Under service menu *#*#4636#*#*
- Clicking "Turn On Radio" nothing happens and the button stays "Turn On Radio"
- I had tried doing a complete reflash with all stock XT1045 5.1 ROM, including the modem
- the radio seems to be in the constant off position
Help...

Probably Hard Bricked, but want to check with you guys

first post and epic fail for me!
FYI, I rooted and flashed multiple droid phones to GB in the past with no problem.
I followed the wrong instructions and flashed my Galaxy Tab 7 in with the rooted kernel (i have the wifi only version)
I am unable to get into download mode or boot up. When i hold down the power and volum controls, I get the LCD backlight turned on, but nothing else.
Same thing with the power button alone. Once i release the button, the light goes off.
It doesnt look like windows or Odin is even seeing the device when connected. I think I'm boned

It does sound like it is bricked, if you are interested I can un-brick this for you send me a PM if you are interested.
well, fortunately for me, i just got this today and called up circuit city saying "uh, i think my uh...ipad type thing... galaxy something is broken" lol
put on the old "i r dumb in tech" routine and am getting a new one shipping for next day service (for free)
Appreciate he offer though, however, I do have a question.
Does this work at all for wifi only? Or is this strictly GSM?
I thought the rooting files were optional and THAT part was GSM needed
nope...you can only flash roms that are made for Wifi only models...GSM roms will not work on Wifi only models due to differing infrastructure....furthermore wifi only model has downgraded CPU as well as GPU and Bluetooth

To answer your question if you got the wifi only version, then thats it.
GSM version are T-Mobile and AT&T and also has wifi as well and
CDMA version would be Verizon and Sprint and wifi.
There are several different reasons to root:
1 - Installing a different flavor / version of Android
2 - Enabling cellular phone dialing
3 - etc, etc
Just be carefull when you root

yeah, i screwed up.
I dont mind the weaker cpu and junk as it is a gift for my brother (he is the best man at my wedding), but I wanted to root, get rid of bloatware and throw on GB (gb is rockin on my droid), then throw on launcherpro and some other things. You know, but this nice and smooth and junk.
But I killed it. Wont happen with the next one as it doesnt seem like there is any type of gm rom for the wifi only model

Weak signal after radio and ROM flash

After the most recent stock update that added Sense 3 I started having intermittent radio problems. I had always been on stock and never fiddled with the firmware, radio, anything like that. The radio would randomly disconnect from the network and stay disconnected for a while, or I could get it back faster if I rebooted the phone or cycled flight mode. Using data often acted as a catalyst for the problem and I could reduce occurrences by using wifi when I'm at home. Total annoyance. I decided to try fixing it myself and I've found a lot of useful information here.
I first installed a couple different ROMs and found that after booting, there was no signal, so it was probably the radio. I had HBOOT 2.0 so I had to downgrade, use Revolutionary to get S-OFF, then start working with different radio versions. I haven't had any luck since.
Current setup:
Bought unbranded and unlocked from the UK. 900/1700/2100 model
Revolutionary HBOOT-6.13.1002
Baseband: 20.4802.30.0882U_3882.10.08.28_M
ROM: Virtuous Quattro RC2 (Android 4.0.2)
Network: 3 Sweden (UMTS 900/1200 network)
I've also had the same problem running Cyanogen 7.1 and Android Revolution HD 2.1.3. I had high hopes for ARHD since it said it specifically was designed for the radio I've flashed. I actually even went through and tried every single radio release from Gingerbread for the IncS. Same problem on all.
Strictly speaking it's not actually a no-signal problem, it's a very weak/malfunctioning signal problem. When I do a network scan I usually only see two of the three GSM networks here and most if not all 3G networks are missing. The few times my home network has actually shown up in the network scan list, I can't register on it. I get the "Temporarily unable to register on this network. Try again later." message.
I hope I've done enough searching and effort on my own here before posting. Needless to say I'll be grateful for any help I can get here. After many hours of reading, flashing, rebooting, reflashing, rinse and repeat, I'm looking for an end to this!

wow..i was having the same problem. totally forgot about the antenna in the back cover. i was going nuts flashing different radios wondering why i was getting only edge. i feel stupid. thanks
I had no idea the back cover made any difference at all. Thank you for pointing that out to me! I was seriously about to go buy an iPhone or something, but I remembered I loathe the keyboard in iOS
I'm all good now! Running radio .28_M with ICS and things are as they should be. At least throughout all this hassle I got my radio upgraded to a hopefully less-crashy version and I got some ICS up and running
Cheers guys!

[Q] HD7 Wifi Showing "No Networks"

Hi All,
Bought a HD7 off ebay, it was stuck on screen after HTC Logo. Its an o2 one. It booted fine after a full reset using both volume buttons+power. But that was after I opened it and took the memory card out etc... but it works now.
Problem is, I just spend another bit of cash to unlock it only to find the wifi is now not working, I never tried it before this, but I remember when it was stuck it showed a greyed out wifi logo (wifi available icon). Now no matter how close it is to my router, or many routers here it doesnt pick up anything.
Does it have anything to do with that sticker (grey one) over the memory card because that was getting in my way and I cut it, since I tried to stick it back to no avail.
Anyways its running :
HD7 T9292
Bootloader : 5.11.22
Radio : 5.71.09
OS : 7.10.8107.79 (UK o2)
I have hard reset it many times. 3g works but its also patchy sometimes it doesnt work.
I would like to know if there is a fix, or how I can install a fresh rom on it, like a custom one, or even the stock one to see if it works.
Many thanks in advance.
UPDATE :
I fixed the issue by taking out the 3g sim, then hard reset using both volume buttons + power, then let it set up fresh, then it picked up wifi networks. I re-inserted the sim and restarted again and now have both 3g + wifi. Very strange.
UPDATE 2 :
The wifi has gone again, I upgraded to tango, everything went smoothly but I dont have wifi anymore, and even after master resets its not coming back.
The cause could have been :
- Connecting it to the computer
- Updating the OS which made it restart a few times.
- Connecting it to the charger.
I do not know which one of the above it was. Still looking for any hints on how to resolve, since my main sim doesnt have 3g I am left without internet.
UPDATE 3 :
Downgraded the SPL using Y Cable, installed NextGen+ 3.3 and still no wifi... Then downgraded the radio to nodo, no wifi, but this morning turned the phone on and the "networks available" icon showed, but unable to pick any networks or connect. Infact now it has issues letting me into the wifi page.
Hey Muhammad A
Did you fix the problem with no networks found thinge?
That would be great help if u'd find it.
Cheers, mate
Same issue for me. Multiple hard resets and versions, no wifi or blueooth.
Same here it's an old phone from a friend.. Any solutions?? Is it a Hardware problem??
I too have the same issue
I too have the same issue

GPS Lock Issue - Stock 5.1 Rom

Hello guys, first of all thank you for your efforts on doing your best for our community we'd be doomed if wasn't for you.
Well, I'm facing this problem on my 1097 moto X.
On 4.4.4 it used to work fine and since i'm running L, using navigation is being a mess.
Tried every option on settings -> location (high precision, battery economy and only device) but the problem persists.
It starts navigating but later on it loses satellite lock and keeps the "acquiring location" message... eventually it comes back on, but loses again a few minutes later.
Tried wiping cache, formatting, everything... it comes back.
Since i'm in Brazil, while reading about this issue, i found out that only customers of my operator are facing this problem.
Some said that navigating using EDGE solves the problem and i haven't tried it out yet, but come on, i'm almost full time using 4G already, and since i use navigation a lot, recalculation routes in a EDGE connection takes ages.
I don't know if it helps but my operator uses:
For 3G: 10+10 bandwidth Mhz: 1.935-1.945 ERB: 2.125-2.135
For 4G: 10+10 bandwidth Mhz: 2.530-2.540 ERB: 2.650-2.660
I wouldn't want to use custom ROM's for now since it's my daily drive phone, ok if it needs rooting and flashing something on my stock rom, but i'm really in doubt about using a custom rom.
May it be a modem issue? if yes, which one could i flash to try to solve it?
Thanks you guys.

Have to toggle data/airplane mode every so often to get data back?

I have a d5803 - relocked bootloader rooted and running a 5.1.1 rom. T-Mobile. Was working totally fine. Decided to try the 6.0 tft beta from the general section. I originally had the .2099 version but the OTA I'm at the latest.
It was great, but then I noticed sometimes my signal strength bar would have an exclamation point and my data wouldn't work. However, it still said LTE. A super quick toggle of airplane mode would revive it, and it would work again. I am a limo driver so I drive around, and it was kinda random. It would be fine in many areas for quite a while, but then would go inactive.
I figured it was a bug in the beta version, so I went back to a 5.1.1 rom. But I then noticed it still happened. I think it only happened once because I ended up trying to clear all data and completely fresh wipe to do the 6.0 version again. It still happens. I believe it tends to happen when I'm moving and it has to switch towers. Also, when I'm on a phone call, it is supposed to go to H/H+, which it does, but there is NO data connection. A phone call anytime will kill the internet.
Any ideas? I really like this 6.0 version but I might have to go back a stock tft file to see if the issue is still there. It all started when I decided to flashtool the 6.0 version.
Thanks
