Difference between us and ibtl n6 on amazon - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I noticed the q/a on amazon for the $350 n6. It says the intl wont work well in the us. Why is this? What limitations are there on that phone that wont let you use it in the us if u have an intl model. I live overseas and just curios if its better to get the us or intl version. What limits are on both. Im not to experienced regarding what my providors needs are in a phone to work other than its using orange gsm lines. I did notice my pos htc m7 say 4g on top and i also believe i saw it say Lte when i was using it but im not certain.
The price for n6 has not come down and sells for 550 bucks still over here.
Last question. Will this phone still sell in 6 months? Will stores still stock it?
Thank u

There is a limit to the amount of LTE radio bands available on the chipset. The only differences are that the international has different LTE bands to the US one and does not support CDMA networks.

Diamond Now on Sprint?

I'm starting to see Diamonds for sale on Ebay. If I were to purchase one now, would it work on Sprint, even though they have not officially released it yet? Also, any reason to wait for the rumored Raphael; is it better?
Anybody switch to Diamond from Mogul; is it much better?
Thanks for your thoughts.
The diamonds you see is most likely unlocked, and can be used in any network you like.. I have no clue where in this world you reside, but US beware! No quad-band.
I'm in USA, so are you saying do not buy? Thanks for your response.

Yes dont buy unless its an American version of the Diamond...the ones on ebay are all asian versions which means that it wont work on the 3G network in America as far as i know. Judging by past posts on here by American forum members...best you will get is either Edge or GPRS if your lucky.
The American version of the Diamond should be released in july/august...best off waiting till then i would say.
Whoa! There is a lot of untrue information floating around here. First of all, Sprint runs on a completely different network than the rest of the world. So while the phones you purchase on eBay are most likely unlocked, they still run on GSM bands, which means you will only be able to use it with either AT&T or T-Mobile in the states. (Sprint/Verizon run on CDMA bands.)
Additionally, as noted - these non-US versions of the Diamond are not quad-band, and they do not run on the 3G bands used here in the states. I have one and live in the Washington DC area. I get fairly consistent Edge speeds, and slightly more dropped calls than with a US-release phone. It's well worth it to have the most kick-ass phone currently available, but it is a sacrifice nonetheless. Of course, depending on your geographic region, you may have more or less luck.
Finally, on a personal opinion note... Get off Sprint. Phones like this are always released first for the rest of the world, and have to be made with radios specific to Sprint/Verizon for use on their networks, which is always going to trail widespread release by several months at least (if not a year or longer). By using AT&T or T-Mobile, you are going to have access to much greater equipment selections on a regular basis.
I, have the Diamond in New York on T-Mobile Network, and my Edge connection is pretty quick with Opera, and as far as calls after two weeks of use I have yet to experience a dropped call or bad reception. I know this is not the same case in every area, but the fact that this device will not work in the US is not entirely true except 3G.
*Note* Neither Sprint nor Verizon will work.
The current versions of Diamond is not CDMA version. So they will not work on any CDMA networks in the US. That includes but not limited to Sprint, Verizon, and US Cellular. They will however work in the US with T-Mobile and AT&T with Edge connection. According to the FCC filing, they will do the full announcement of Diamond in the US by August 13 and PCS 1900Mhz was mentioned in the pdfs. All photos and such can not be disclosed by FCC until Aug 13th.

fast help please (may be buying a nexxus one)

Sorry for asking for fast help but I may be buying a (used, good shape) Nexxus One (via craigslist) and have an important question.
I have ATT wireless, the old, old "blue sim" ATT wireless (with a grandfathered plan I will not get rid of). Also added "unlimited mmode data plan in time before they cancelled unlimited plans (*this is not the iphone data plan).
I currently use a Nokia E51 (symbian s60v3, wifi, decent reception, works on 3G (and switches to Edge when 3G isn't avail).
I'm looking at a Nexxus One that is unlocked, currently on Tmobile.
Question is: will this nexus one work 100% (3g and edge) on my ATT account?
and/or - Is there anything I can do to make it work? (I'd like to buy it).
I'm just not sure a unlocked Tmobile nexus one is 100% compatible or will work on ATT (or can be made to work).
it's cost is making it risky so I came here in hopes of advice and help.
I hope this is the right forum section.
Any help here is appreciated and thank you very much
You will not get 3G. Only edge. T-Mobile and AT&T use different bands for 3G.
btw: here is a link to info on my Nokia E51 (GSM arena)
gsmarena.com/nokia_e51-2106.php
Am I correct in saying that nexus one has the same bands (3g/edge) as the E51 and should work well for an updated phone?
thanks
Like I said, it depends which Nexus one. The AT&T one will only give 3G on AT&T, and the TMobile one will only give 3G on Tmobile. You can't change it, no way to hack it. If you want 3G, you need the correct version for your network.
I see, and thanks for the reply. i was thinking there is a hack/workaround but there isn't apparently.
Now, is there a like phone which still would fullfill my ATT needs (blue sim plan, 3g/edge modes, wifi capable, etc that I should be looking at...essentially like the nexus one)?
What about the HTC Desire (or is this the sam scenario)?
* again, i just can't leave this grandfathered plan, and I'm not a big iphone fan (enough to make me switch plans that is).
thanks for any advice
I just received a reply from a user on the ATT forums (very well versed with my blue plan and mmode, GSM phones) who stated this...
The Nexus One would be your best choice if you want to use AT&T Mobility's 2G & 3G network (they use 850 & 1900 MHz for both).
Now in regard to this used, unlocked Tmobile nexus it may be unusable for me...
but based on his reply, he seems to be saying an (att) Nexus one should offer the 2g (edge) and 3g band features (which I need).
Are we sure about the 3g or edge but not both in regard to the nexus one?
* got my eye set on a att nexus one (really, first it was the HTC Desire - very similar, but the band support was the concern there with the Desire)
thanks
Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. You are not listening. The Tmobile Nexus One will NOT give you 3G on AT&T.
BUT the AT&T Nexus One WILL give you 3G.
You just need to get the right one. You just need to buy the AT&T compatible Nexus One. Not the Tmobile one.
You need a Nexus One with the AT&T bands. They exist. I have one. A friend of mine is selling his in the CT area.
No, no...i'm listening, but likely not asking the question right.
I understand to get att 3g I need to get the ATT nexus one. Got it.
* And no, I will not be buying this tmobile nexus one thanks to your replies.
What I'm asking is in regard to 2g/edge ability here. Are you saying that a att nexus one will ONLY offer 3G and not offer any 2G/edge capability?
Others are saying it will also offer the 2G/edge capability as well as att's 3G (like with my E51 currently).
* see there are times when att 3G is unavil/spotty and the phone (E51 in my case) switches to 2G/edge. I just wanted to make sure the att nexus one offers this ability.
thanks

Can I inquire about this phone for sale somehow?
I was looking at this tmobile nexus one for $350, decent condition.
I'm very interested in buying an att nexus one (provided it's 100% working and condition isnt too bad).
thanks for replying guys!

My Nexus One with AT&T bands works just like every other 3G AT&T phone. It works on both EDGE and 3G. If you look at the bands it has, there's no reason it wouldn't.
You need an AT&T banded N1 to get both 3G and EDGE.
If you get the T-Mobile version, you will ONLY GET EDGE on AT&T.
That's the difference: the 3G bands are different between the two, but the EDGE bands are the same.

You can email him at t4show at gmail dot com
It's only about a month old. He bought an iPhone 4. Yuck.
thank you, i sent him an email. hopefully it's still for sale.
btw: what about the HTC Desire? issues with this on my ATT network?
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_desire-3077.php
The desire does not have ATT 3g bands, so you will be stuck on edge. Recently they announced a usa desire which might come with proper 3g, but that phone does not yet exist. So no the desire won't work unless you just want edge.
well, your friend selling his att nexus one stopped replying so I have to assume he's either kept it or selling for a bit more on ebay/etc.
I can bid on a few on ebay that will likely end up being $500+ for slightly used, but can anyone tell me if I can still buy the att 3g version ffor $529 straight from google (as in if I order by this friday)?
or I should also ask: does anyone have an att verision nexus one they're selling?

[Q] N1 for 400$ ... Take it or Leave it ??

Hello Everyone

is it a good deal or no ?
and do you advice me to buy nexus one or see anther mobile ?
is nexus one good for heavy games ? and apps ?
do i have any problems ?
and what are the things i have to check them before buying it ?
and thank you

I say take it... it is by far one of the best devices I've ever had. It's no longer on the top of my list but I still own one and can't seem to shake off the love for this phone.
Get him to turn it on and make sure it boots up. Thats all you need to do really. If he has only had it for a week it may be an SLCD device and there is only one kernel supporting that at the moment.
I'd do it if it was me.
OMG, with the formatting.
PASS on the N1 at $400+. I'd pay $350 for it though.
For heavy games GPU wise, i'd say nexus one isnt the way to go, well for the time being that is. But thats my opinion.
i've opened a thread for porting / improving GPU drivers for our devices and who knows what gingerbread will provide for our devices
We have no clue how well our devices can perform but its always getting better.
I'd say Galaxy S should be more appropriate as it has a great GPU and massive internal storage.
I've started seeing plenty of Nexus Ones for $350 now, so $400 seems much, but this is only used for 1 week so you decide for yourself.
As for what to know, make sure you get the version you need for 3G-support. Doesn't sound like you're in the U.S. though.
yes i am not in USA
but the n1 have dual-band 3G support
right ?

No. Dual-band GSM support, not 3G. It works with both AT&T and T-Mobile's network on Edge, but for 3G, it depends on which model you get.

The POINT is, there are TWO versions of Nexus One in the U.S., one for AT&T 3G, and one for T-Mobile 3G. I don't know where are you from and how the network there works, but that's how it is in the U.S. You mentioned the price in U.S. dollars, so you might be buying one of the two. You need to know not all U.S. Nexus Ones are the same.
he said that it is unlocked
Unlocked doesn't have to do with what the hardware supports. Ask him if it's the AT&T or T-Mobile version. Then look at those frequencies and figure out if they work in your area, on your carrier.
Read this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nexus_One
"France
On May 18, 2010 the Nexus One was made available for purchase through the SFR web portal."
"The original Nexus One also came along with UMTS frequency bands 1 (2100 MHz), 4 (1700 MHz), and 8 (900 MHz).[56], allowing it to access 3G throughout Europe, as well as on T-Mobile USA and WIND Mobile in Canada. The second version of the Nexus One supports UMTS frequency bands 1 (2100 MHz), 2 (1900 MHz), and 5 (850 MHz), allowing it to access 3G in most of Europe, as well as on AT&T Mobility in the USA and Rogers Wireless, Fido Solutions, Bell Mobility, and Telus Mobility in Canada. The second version of the Nexus One also works on Telecom New Zealand's XT Mobile Network and Telcel's 3G Network."
Keep this thread clean please chaps and cut out the personal insults.

Incredible S U.S. T-mobile 3G?

So with HTC's disappointing line-up for the first half of 2011 I decided to take a visit to HTCs World site. I looked at the specs of the new phones and noticed that under Network the bands listed are Europe/Asia - HSPA: 900/AWS/2100 MHz. Does this mean that I could finally buy an unlocked HTC phone and have my US T-mobile 3G aswell? The Flyer has the same Network specs. Out of the 5 new phones that HTC announced the Flyer and Incredible S only have those specs. The Chacha, salsa, and wildfire S, each have the standard 900/2100mhz band for HSPA Europe/Asia.
http://www.htc.com/www/product/incredibles/specification.html
http://www.htc.com/www/product/flyer/specification.html
Can someone confirm my suspicions? If so I can't wait to see what the fall lineup has in-store. Perhaps a dual core phone. I hate the line up US carriers offer.
I belive that you need 1700/2100 Mhz for T-Mobile 3G

Yes 1700 but is that not AWS. If I'm not mistaken AWS is the 1700/2100 spectrum. So since AWS is stated in the specs for the tablet and phone it should work in the US on T-mobiles 3G correct? I've been waiting for htc to release phones in Europe with US 3G for T-mobile forever. I wish my TD2 had had US 3G. The power switch broke sadly and I bought a used Nexus one and T-mobile made me pay the higher rate for data. With an unlocked phone I can sneak by on the lower unlimited rate.
This is a good news for T-Mobile and Wind users as it supports AWS 3G.
Supposedly it is going to be sold by best buy in the US.. So unless that rumor was false it makes sense to have some flavor US 3G network support and TMo makes more sense (ha no pun intended) than ATT. So AWS on the specs must be true.
Unless all these little clues are an inaccurate vast coincidence.

I don't care who sells the phone as long as it really does work with T-mobiles AWS bands in the US. If it's true I can't wait to see the Fall lineup of phones. If anything with a dual core comes out and looks nice I will be ordering it from clove.co.uk or somewhere else it they can beat cloves price.
The ROM is set up for Verizon, plus the original Incredible was with big red so I doubt they would switch carriers with the Incredible name.

You couldn't be any mote wrong. The original is not a US phone and is GSM based. So it makes sense t-mobile could get it. T-mobile UK has it and so do other GSM carriers in the world. Go to HTC.com/www and check it out for ur self. The tech is GSM. You need to learn a bit more about world carriers and phones and ditch big red. GSM is what the world uses. Don't be surprised when Big Red starts to use sim cards.

Is this Incredible S gonna launch on T-Mobile USA?
UK retailers and mobile providers are already accepting preorders.
I'm not sure if T-Mobile USA will get this because it is already being launched elsewhere. Are they gonna launch this phone late?
Verizon already had it in the US (not S). And I don't see any leaked T-Mobile roadmaps hinting an HTC Incredible S launch.
What do you guys think?
Wish it'll be released by BestBuy in states and canada like NS.

If it does it will be like any other phone that hits Europe and Asia first. US carriers will get it 6-12 months later. So if it does come here it will be later on. The thing I'm concerned about is having it work with Tmo US 3G if I buy it unlocked from Europe since it has the AWS bands. I Love buying unlocked phones because some of them we never see here in the states.

I'm sure it wont be long before we see some reviews coming in to verify its AWSness.
One thing is for sure.. I'm not going to pay 499 euros (690 USD!!) for it.. plus shipping.. I'll be waiting for it to pop up stateside for around 500 USD I would hope...

When it gets here the price unlocked will drop to about that. That's how long it will take for it to get here. It will be that old. Most I am willing to pa for an unlocked phone they don't sell in the states is $550. Sadly I would rather use that money for a radiator to help keep my car cool with all it's new found power.
I'm sure there will be at least two different models, a European model without AWS and a T-mobile US version with AWS. Just like the HD2. The T-mobile US one will be carrier locked too. You know I'm right.

The only version that has been announced is the European/Asian one and it has AWS so this one could also be sold by T-Mobile USA.
However the question would be why bother when they already have the recently released 3.8" myTouch 4G with 4GB of storage, the same CPU and GPU, etc, etc. While the Incredible S seems to be better all round, with the exception of available storage, there hardly seems to be any point in adding such a similar phone to the T-Mobile USA line-up, especially when the myTouch 3G was made specially for them.
They will probably wait until October later this year to introduce a new variant of this phone and some dual core HTC phones.

[Q] HTC One Int'l Unlocked vs ATT

Quick questions, and forgive me if it is completely noob. First off, will the international unlocked M7 work on US ATT? ANd by work, I mean voice, text, HSPA+, and LTE all functional? And if so, other than being unlocked, is there any specific advantages in purchasing an International one vs buying an ATT one outright on no contract?

I see. From reading around here a bit, I was under the impression that if I got a carrier version, I wouldnt be able to load neat roms and such due to the locked bootloader. So, in order to have any freedom to customize and retain LTE, I'd have to wait for the dev version that they are releasing?
Forgive me, Im trying to do away with years of iOS, and figure out more of the Android game!

It will not make a difference if you buy the AT&T version or the Dev version really. The only difference between the 2 is that the Dev version is unlocked (carrier and bootloader) and (shouldn't) have the AT&T Bloatware. Neither is S-OFF ready from HTC.
You will be able to load custom roms in due time on any of these phones, I wouldn't worry.
What I still don't know is what AT&T is going to charge for an off-contract price. Best Buy's off contract price is higher than the Dev Version, but I suspect at AT&T it will be less. Hopefully we can find out today.
Either way the developer edition is only going to be offered in Silver so that rules it out for me anyway .

I could be wrong but I am pretty sure the International One uses European LTE bands, which AT&T does not. The AT&T HTC One and Developer Editions WILL have the AT&T LTE Bands.
From HTC One spec sheet:
LTE:
EU: 800/1800/2600 MHz
US (AT&T): 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz
US (TMO): 700/AWS MHz
US (Sprint): 1900 MHz
Asia: 1800/2600 Mhz
I am pretty sure the international One carries jut the "EU" LTE Bands, which would not work with AT&T LTE.
Sorry my bad, i thought someone said that the Intl version will not have LTE, i know they both do have, but the States, Chine, Europe all have different Bands themselves. . . i believe.
