Overheating - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Anyone facing overheating on center of right side LCD?
Sorry for my bad English.

Overheating is usually caused by an app using too much cpu. Have a look at your battery statistics etc to see if any app is misbehaving. My device actually remains cool.
BTW this device doesn't have an LCD.

Same here... tab S2 9.7 inch LTE phone, running stock version 5.0.2 with no overheating issues.
...

It heats up because that is where the CPU is located.
For my t715y, its only heats up when I play games. The temperature is usually moderate to slightly warm under normal load.
"Overheating" can be a serious issue. Install apps like "Clean Master" to find out the CPU's temperature.

No overheating issues ever, but I don't play games... The OJ1 update 'Update Description' does however include "Overheating issue fix included".

same, galaxy tab s2 8.0 wifi, when i use google play to update app, same location is so heap, "CPU temp" show almost 90 c

mine showed 90c when using TWRP yesterday.
and yeah its the right upper side that gets warm, not hot.
but these values jump from 90 to 60 in an instance,so Im not sure if thats really so accurate.
and that a 8core cpu gets warm when really used.. well thats kinda normal I guess.

Tab S2 8.0 T715
It indeed is getting hot very frequently, on the right middle back side, also, the charger head going into the tablet getting very hot... very annoying for a premium tablet Samsung in the works as usuall... To top all this, KNOX, no safe root method, etc, etc... Thinking about getting an iPhone and an iPad recently... This tablet's practicality doesn't excede being a gaming platform for my 6 year old son, or watching Tom & Jerry toons on youtube...

With normal use (surfing, mailing, videos etc.) my tablet (rooted and debloated, autosync off) never gets warm.

My Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 plug at the tablet is SUPER hot! The Samsung+ app video chat lady "Michaela" said the model number of the "Travel Adapter for this tablet is supposed to be EP-TA20JWE which is a 'smart charger' . Michaela said the one I said came with my tablet (EP-TA12JWE) is not a smart charger. Therefore, the power doesn't fluctuate and can cause the tablet to get hot. It is the WRONG ADAPTER. Samsung (Philippines) doesn't have this info to determine this issue and the problem is, Samsung+ app is NOT the WiFi department so your stuck with the Philippines and "if the problem persists, we will escalate it to an executive corporate level" which I have delta with before and because this is WiFi, it gets handled by the Philippines. So sweet f all is going to be done. pretty much.
EDIT: I just got off the phone with Bestbuy and asked if they could tell me the model number of there open box Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 wall adapter, it is EP-TA12JWE like mine, not the EP-TA12JWE like Samsung+ representative is saying.
In my experience sofar, with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 and dealing with Samsung... Samsung is hard to deal with. You always get conflicting information...you NEVER get USA support other than the Samsung+ app. And it is only for 'carrier' devices not WiFi. (The app customer service).
ALSO, if you buy a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 'open box' from BestBuy, the warranty started on the first purchaser. 15 day return policy, 1 month shelf life=10.5 month remaining warranty for that open box (for example). AND you can not really register the tablet (according to Samsung customer service [Philippines /WiFi versions]) more than once. So the original purchaser is the owner of your open box tablet according to Samsung. Which brings out more by on how is it serviced via warranty claim. Samsung states Samsung never sells used items. Samsung said Bestbuy is not supposed to sell a used Samsung item. THEREFORE, according to Samsung, Bestbuy is not allowed to give a receipt for that used Samsung item. ( the open box was not/is not my current Galaxy Tab S2 overheat issue, as I have a NEW tablet with this issue).

Mine (T710) is also getting very hot while charging. The charger is hot and also the bottom of the screen. I will check my charger model. Could it also be because I'm using an adapter for the plug?

Mine is a TA12EWE and it sometimes gets very hot on the micro USB end.

What firmware build are you two on?

I had a similar problem and discovered an issue with the SD card. After a reformat my device was back to normal

I am another owner of a T710n that is not only getting hot at the charge port, but also between the SD card slot and the volume buttons. It didn't seem to be that bad, but now I have a BIG problem. The tablet is actually warping between the SD card slot and the buttons. If I lay it face down there is a gap (curve) on that side so It is bent. The back cover seems to be warping too... still functions properly and other than heat and the warping, it works like new. Just afraid the curve is going to ruin my screen.

It came with 5.1.1 on it. Even though I am rooted and have a modded kernel, this issue started with the stock setup. I didn't want to take the back off because it's a tight seam and I didn't want to mark it up, but I'm about to since the back cover in the area of the buttons seems more pushed out than warped. Maybe defective batteries, I don't know.....but I'm going to find out!

After a reboot, leaving the sdcard out of the slot, it is not getting nearly as hot in that area just slightly warm to the touch under load. So basically a perfectly good sdcard in the card slot, warped my t710n!? ? I think so.

My preliminary assessment and conclusion:
1. Samsung chose an adapter cable with less cross-sectional diameter for economic reasons, (check it out the cable is thinner than the ones for S or Note series), they didn't even predict that the same voltage, amperage in a thinner cable causes more resistance, and thus overheating (I used a thicker cable and it's not getting that hot!) - - > A HUGE SHAME
2. The CPU gets hot when there is intensive read/write from the SD Card, example playing games installed on SD card, or in my case, music stored on SD Card and poweramp is scanning the music folder, a glitch, because poweramp scanning doesn't stop till I restart the device, but still this operation shouldn't cause C0U overheating, so HUGE SHAME AGAIN SAMSUNG

I completely agree with @koskhandeh 1st assessment and conclusion. I experienced it myself the EXTREMELY HOT charger plug issue, and right after I changed the Cable into a thicker one, the problem is gone.
At first, I consulted with the Samsung Service Center technician, and he only suggest me to change the cable only. I asked him about the "Smart Charger" replacement that @Betachip mentioned above, and he said that it would be an overkill as the Galaxy Tab S2 doesn't support "Fast-Charging" feature as any other newer device. The default TRAVEL ADAPTER EP-TA12EWE is the safest and best compatible charger for my Galaxy Tab S2.
From their Accessories Warehouse database, there are 2 options of cable replacement for Galaxy Tab S2 device. The No.1 option is the default thin cable that was included in my box-set, and the alternative one (No.2) is GH396-01580Q DATA LINK CABLE - MICRO USB, 3.3PI, 1.5M. The alternative cable is the thicker one, 23AWG 30AWG (emboss printed on the cable, i don't know why there are two AWG number). Because the 1st option was run out of stock, they give me the alternative one and it works like charm today, no heat, no issue. I got that for around $8 from the SSC retailer.
In my own personal opinion, this extreme heat issue should be a real concern to all user who encounter it. That kind of heat I assume is not safe to your device's component.

I Had similiar issue... try change another 2amp usb cable...i think your usb cable is shorted like mine...now my tab never hot again even when playing game while charging...

I tried note 4 cable and same problem. Can you recommend a charging cable to use?

I've got SM-T715 LTE and it gets hot on the right side near the volume key, screen is hot as is the back. I'm using 128gb sd card, i'm going to remove sd card see if that makes a difference. I'm running MM flashed via odin.
The other thing i'v noticed it takes several hrs to fully charge is that normal?

upgrade from tf700?

Hello hello!
I own the tf700 and i really like it. Well, execpt the performance isn that good for me. Its a bit sluggish and laggy sometimes wich bothers me.
Will the tegra 4/the tf701 be a noticable upgrade in terms of performance?

hello,
yes it is much faster.
having said that the overall finish and build quality is terrible and their after purchase warranty support is terrible.
please buy this from a physical store and test it well in store to make sure you get a good one is all the advice i can give you.
to list a few
pro
fast
great screen
more batt lif with dock
sd card and micro sd card for large space amounts.
usb 3 port for wireless mouse other devices.
cons
build quality
most countries dock have d/c issues and other issues like charge failures etc etc.
seems to be abandoned via asus considering they announced 4.4 for the padfones but left this device out of the list.
keyboard dock is made of plastic ???
when docked and upright it falls back as the plastic body of the dock can`t hold the device flat.
uncertain
stock software (is possibly stable, the screen still changes brightness too much for my liking) mine reboots a lot for no reason. however it`s away for it`s 4th trip to asus and they still refuse to replace it. so the rebooting could be related to my tab being one of the many fail devices out there.
i`m just being 100% honest here.
Please try it at a store as the idea is great and should be a top competitor against ipad and Samsung tabs but asus`s execution and build quality let it down.

S6 Active first impressions

Yesterday I received my Samsung Galaxy S6 Active. I've been on the fence about getting one, especially since I have the S5 Active. There didn't seem to be enough of a difference to switch, but I figured I could get it and return it if I didn't like it. Well so far I really like it. Here are items that are making the switch worth while:
Camera - The camera is awesome! Fast and takes great pictures (although the S5 Active does take great pictures also.).
No port covers - It was very nice not having to open the cover every time I need to plug in the USB.
Themes - This is really cool. I didn't have to add anything to install a theme and it's complete. Pretty much everything is themed. The Avengers theme is pretty sweet.
Wireless charging - Although I haven't tried it yet, I'm getting a charging pad as soon as I decide that I'm keeping it.
Some downsides (although I'm good with them):
No micro sd card slot - This one, I can go either way with. I have always added an sd card to any device that had a slot for in case I needed it. So far, I haven't had a time that I actually had to have one. With cloud services and a data connection pretty much everywhere I go, I'm ok with it. Also, I keep a thumb drive with a micro usb connector on it with me most of the time in case I need it.
No removable battery - Again, I can go either way with it. It's nice to just pull the battery on lockups, but that's about it for me. I'm not too worried about switching it out, I normally don't keep the phone long enough for the battery to go bad.
I'm not sure about the battery life yet, but so far so good. After 7.5 hours of medium to heavy use, I'm at 81%.
All in all, I'm pretty happy with it so far.
One week update.
I'm keeping the S6 Active.
The phone is solid and feels good in the hand. The "newer" TouchWiz is ok, but I prefer to use Nova Launcher and the cool thing is that the themes work with it. Again, the camera is outstanding! The battery life is really good. Today I used the phone quite a bit and after 9 hours I'm at 68%. I did notice the occasional lag, but I cleared the cache and it seems to be a lot better.
So, after two weeks with the S6 Active, it's going back to AT&T. There are problems with the touchscreen, especially on the right side. Swiping and scrolling on the right side lags and sometimes dosen't work. There are some issues with using it in water: The dock connected notification pops up when it gets water in the charging port. After the phone was wet, audio from the ear piece and the speaker was really low for about an hour. The phone would not transfer data with a usb cable, even after 8 hours of being dry. It would charge, but not transfer data (I did try 2 different cables and it worked fine with my S5 Active).
Also, earlier today, I had the phone in my pocket and heard it stating that it was going into "VR mode", the screen went black and I could not use the phone. I tried restarting the phone by holding the power and volume down buttons, but it would go back to the black screen when it would reboot. It wasn't until I plugged in a usb cable to try and backup the phone that it started working again.
At this point, I am back to my S5 Active and I'll decide over the weekend whether to exchange the phone or just return.

Samsung really screwed up removing the port covers.
Disagree completely!
Port covers are just something that breaks causing the phone to fail. Just a matter of common sense to dry your phone off before plugging it in!

Picked mine up Saturday. Got 5 hours SOT the first day. Gonna hammer the usage today and see how much I have left after 6 hours SOT. Pretty sweet device so far. If it had 64GB of storage, it would be about the best phone I have used in a while!
Sent from my S6 Active!
I completely agree! I used my S6 Active in fresh and salt water this weekend and had no unexpected issues at all.
Once submerged, while recording, the audio was distorted until I blew into the mic sharply to clear off the water. Completely expected and unpreventable and a non-issue.
I may have gotten a bad phone. I blew out the ports and waited at least an hour before plugging it in and still had problems with it. I will probably exchange it later today or tomorrow. I contemplated returning it, but I really did like it before the problems.
I went from an N5 to an Active and I like it, but the new update seems to shoot out the "Connected to Dock" a lot and that is very annoying considering it stops you from doing anything at that moment. It'll just pop up like 20 times in a row.

It'll just pop up randomly, but when it does it isn't just once. Even restarting the phone doesn't get it to go away. It hasn't done it for a few hours. I'll have issues with it charging and it'll say that with the fast charger. I have a regular usb plugged into it right now and have zero issues. I was however in the pool with it on Saturday to play with the camera underwater. Pocketnow's review on the phone mentions the same thing, but theirs went away after 30 mins.
http://pocketnow.com/2015/06/23/galaxy-s6-active-review
"Take the phone out of the water and you’re bound to see a flickering notification at the top of the screen informing you that the “dock is connected” – an error that doesn’t seem confined to waterproof Samsungs. Considering how long this bug has been around, it’s disappointing that Samsung didn’t correct it before releasing such a supposedly rugged smartphone. Fortunately, the fix is relatively easy: just take a deep breath and blow some air into the USB port like it’s an old Nintendo cartridge, then leave it in front of a fan to dry."
I just picked my active up yesterday. I really really love the phone and the camera and the waterproofing. I had an s6 edge but I was sold a financed (unlocked tmobile) phone without my knowledgd. I really miss the capacitive buttons and the fingerprint reader, as well as the bottom facing speaker. But still an amazing phone. I almost wonder if I should exchange for the leather back g4 though... I'm very Conflicted... what do you guys think? Stick with the active? Or try the g4? (I only get one exchanhe)
I went a head and exchanged mine instead of returning it. This ones to run smoother, the screen seems to be working properly. I did the latest update, but I don't see any difference yet.

I have a nickname for this phone: "Perfect" ? that's how great this phone is in my opinion, still waiting for root though to unleash the beast.
Still missing battery and SD card access not because I really need them (yet) but not having access to all your phone's hardware and software features it feels like the phone is not your property entirely.
Things that impressed me so far are build quality, great grip, screen is amazing making reading and video rendering a pleasant experience, sound quality for calls is great too, not so impressive for music play on speaker or aux on car speakers but good with headphones, pretty fast CPU and RAM, battery life is an improvement I was waiting for for years but missing solar charge (still waiting for this technology to be implemented in smartphones), wireless charging is not my thing because it takes too long.
And of course being a "not bent friendly" device is like having wild berries instead of... you know what ?

Gear VR Consumer Edition overheating

I was at Best Buy today, and I was about to buy a Gear VR Consumer Edition. The phone for the display model was broken, but the sales associate said I could use my phone to try it out, so after downloading the app and other files (thankfully I have T-MOBILE unlimited LTE ) I began my first Gear VR experience. About 10 minutes into using it I got the message that the Gear VR was getting to hot, and that it needed to cool down to function properly. This message appeared 3 more times over the next 10-15 minutes. What I would like to know from those of you who own a Gear VR Consumer Edition does this happen to you as well? Even though $99 is very reasonable I don't want to buy a VR if this is a issue that Samsung knows about, and will eventually fix on later editions. I Googled Gear VR overheating, and I came up with a YouTube video of a guy that installed a fan on his VR.
Please be honest with your replies, because if this is a known issue Samsung should be forced to be responsible and take care of it and others should be warned. However; if this is just a case of one out of many having a problem (especially since the one I was using has probably seen much more use than a hundred would ) I want to get one.
I got a message once only when trying sideloaded content (software in heavy development ). Other than that one time, no overheating problems here.
I am using it a lot, sometimes for few hours. Got message only once and I just ignored it.
The problem was most likely that you were using the gear vr while it was busy downloading a sh** load of stuff in the background. Your best bet is to have a fully charged phone, all apps and updates downloaded, and then go for your life. Also, put into flight mode (if your app don't need internet), and lower screen brightness.
I have had the overheating issue since day one. It happens when doing anything that is cpu demanding. I, like the guy in the youtube video you mentioned, rigged up an old laptop fan to help cool my phone. Problem solved 100%.
The gear vr overheating is a common problem that samsung is fully aware off. I suggest either waiting until they put a fan in it from the factory or just installing one yourself. Its very easy to do
I have had the overheating message several times. I id some research and there is a clip on available on Amazon :
http://a.co/0jced6o
or
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Cool...F8&qid=1487870132&sr=8-2&keywords=gear+vr+fan
This might sound a step back but I got a long charging cable for my headset & powered it with that rather than my S7's battery & suddenly hardly any freezing & the phone gets nowhere near as hot & I haven't seen the 'needs to cool down' message since.

What phone will you get if returning Note 7??

Well, that was fun and sad. What else is left to say. Note 7 was probably the best phone ever to date and its up in smoke. I'm grabbing a LG V20. You??
Gonna keep my S7 edge loaner phone since it's still waterproof and supports a SD card. In all honesty I'm disappointed I had to give up the note7, really had hoped Samsung would have fixed this issue. Though now I doubt they will continue the Note series after this scandal
i am just waiting for the LG V20 to go on pre-sale
already swapped for a note 5. I'll stick with this till something better comes along since none of this fiasco affected my jump. Reason I didnt go with the s7edge was i'll miss the pen and quite frankly the curved screen and trying to keep protection on it drove me nuts. Also used a loaner s7E for 2 weeks and just didnt care for it that much.
I am thinking I'll go with the Pixel XL 128GB whenever they come back in stock for order from Google. I'll return the Note 7 which should end my JOD. Next year I may go with the Note 8 (or whatever they may call it) if I can get back onto JOD. Who knows if JOD will even be in existence then.
I am thinking Pixel because it should at least stay up to date. I am going to miss Samsung Pay.
Not sure what I'm going to do. As you can see by my signature, I've been on Android for years. Right now I have to narrow 3 decisions down to one. They are 1. Keep my Note 7 and take my chances. I have a feeling if I keep it and refuse to turn it in, eventually T-Mo will block all Note 7's IMEI numbers from registering on the network. 2. I also have been looking at the LG V20 which is available for preorder on 10/17, and the 3rd, is a weird one. I have been watching videos of the iPhone 7 plus. It would be nice to try something different. Every Android phone I get, always gets Nova Launcher installed and restored so it's like I end up with the same phone with every new phone I get lol. Apple store gives you 14 days to return with no restocking fee if I want to try one out. I've always bad mouthed Apple, Damn, what to do

I did. To which i replied NO and they got so pissed at me that they just ignored me lol :crying:
I'm undecided. Anything I would get I sacrifice something. Not a huge fan of the S7 edge or the V20. The pixel XL is a possibility. The phone I'm leaning toward most is actually the Nexus 6P. The question is if I can get financed via newegg or Google for either phone. I'm a college student and don't wanna buy them outright, so if I could just pay monthly like I do now that'd be great.

I'm on Tmobile as well and havent received a text either as of yet..
I am not sure either. I just might go back to my Note 2 (even though the screen is cracked and headphone jack only works sometimes) for now. Yes, it is coming to the point of coming back to four year old technology. Galaxy S7 Edge will allow to use the Gear Fit2. LG V20 is the best second option on T-Mobile. Neither comes close to what Galaxy Note 7 is as a whole package. Which means backing out for now until next year maybe my best option,
I am still considering either Galaxy S7 Edge or LG V20. I just wonder if I would be happy with them since using Galaxy Note 7.
Here is some stuff I will miss from Galaxy Note 7: Back and front curve glass design, HDR video controller, fast charging, S Pen, the option to set the device to lower resolution for better battery life, more control of background process with apps, Samsung Health (measuring SpO2, Heart Rate, Steps, Walking Mileage, Walking Time, Stress point measure, etc), Gear Fit2 integration, Apps Edge, 5.7" 2K Super AMOLED curved screen (that is able to reproduce HDR colors and playback 4K content), etc.
The Note 7 camera (video and still) can either be matched or close to matched by Galaxy S7 Edge and LG V20. The CPU in S7 Edge and V20 is the same as Note 7. LG V20 has much better audio, audio recording, and better software for video and audio recording, but otherwise it is behind the Galaxy Note 7.
Basically nothing in the market to match Galaxy Note 7 as a whole package. This is the reason I am having such problems with this.
I will wait for LG V20 then I will return the Note 7 and make a choice of next device.
I am angry at Samsung in not being straight. Are they going to startup manufacturing again or just kill the line? Samsung only say they are stopping production temporary while they come up better manufacturing solution (and resuming production in later date) and for us to return our current device for refund for now. They hinted that they will resume manufacturing once they resolved the manufacturing issue. The hint is where some of us believe that there will be a third version. While the rest believe that is the end. Samsung has not commented in any concrete fashion if this is the true end or not. Not even an email or update to device to show which way they are going long term (like they did with the first version). I didn't get any text either on their long term plan info.
Yes, the news media and bloggers (in different media) are making their noise about this. But at this point in time nothing from Samsung to say one way or the other in a concrete fashion.
So regardless if this is true or not we have no choice but to believe this is the end. Samsung Needs To Communicate the full information of what they are planning to do.
At the end: I feel completely abandoned by Samsung. And now that I experienced such top end, full featured package of the Galaxy Note 7, I feel completely disappointed by all other devices.
Samsung is probably in the state of shock, people involved with N7 are probably wondering where will they find next job (somebody needs to be blamed for $20B+ loss) and large companies take time to make and announce decisions, so we may have to wait and see. The way I see it: forget N7 and actually no more Note line phones, but it would be beyond idiotic not to relaunch 5.7 inch flagship phone with S-pen (Galaxy S-pen anyone?), since this is probably the only phone line with no direct competition at all. Some report says now 50% surveyed respondents have negative connotation about Note brand, but to me it's clear other 50% don't, so I'm not even sure changing brand is even necessary and Note 8 would be a perfect vehicle for launching some new, less fire prone battery chemistry.

Well I noticed when the chips on right side (including CPU chip) heats up the battery slowly heats up on the left side (using Phone Info+ app as temp reference for the CPU & battery as well as hand touch). The battery does stay lower than CPU chip temp. And the battery is much slower to heat up then the CPU chip too. I wonder if the heat from the chips on the right side is causing the battery on the left to heat up. Seems not to have a good enough heat protection for the battery from the heat of the chips on its right. This would mean a redesign of the internals of the Note. Or at least a better heat protection for the battery from the heat of the chips. There is little way for the heat to be released for the device. I wonder if it better to use the metal sides/edges to release the heat (much like a heat sink works).
The device doesn't need to be that thin either which is part of the issues with the battery connectors end up touching each other. Which brings a question: Would a drop cause the battery connectors to touch each other with them being so close to each other?
I also notice when I manage background process for apps that then temp for both CPU and battery stays so much lower. As well as battery lasts much longer per charge.
Though I find that the battery mostly stays lower than 100F (in the 80s and 90s).
Interesting that the chips side (right) heats up while the battery side (left) stays cool or somewhat cool to touch.
Which means redesigning the device. If this is the case, then Samsung should say that they are going to wait until next year to release a new "Note" or whatever name they call the new device. Just be straight up to your customers. Their customers deserve at least that.

I learned when I started flashing ROMs on the Note 4 that Samsung smart watches aren't very smart. I got a Moto. It'll work with any phone.

I feel the same way. As a package, there is nothing available either now or in the immediate future that compares with the Note 7. But this phone is way too expensive to John Wayne it and see what they'll do to holdouts that won't stop using it. I'm not particularly worried about the thing blowing up. The odds are forever in my favor.
Either the Pixel XL or the V20 are the next best phones without going to the dark side (Apple.) Rumor has it that Verizon's exclusive to the Pixel might be very short lived. My trouble with the Pixel is no SD card (I have over 120 GB of music that I carry with me.) I certainly won't be going back to Verizon.
Samsung finally posted something on their facebook page. Their wording makes me feel better... This is all precautionary while they investigate.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8 0 with S Pen 2019 LTE (SM-P205)
1. Unboxing & Impressions - https://youtu.be/Jzic9JeDBdE
I am surprised that this Galaxy Tab A 8.0 is more closer related to Nexus 7 than the previous model it replaces. It should be on a buy list for anyone wanting to replace their Nexus 7 or Tab A 8.0 2015. Other than the limited 32GB storage size, I absolutely think is is a great budget tab at less than 250USD.
2. Camera Photos & Videos - https://youtu.be/nirrHFIWLWw
This tab blew me away by being able to edit videos and export to 4K. It's punching way above the budget price point. Why didn't Samsung give this a minimum 64Gb storage instead of just 32GB. This is a great little budget tab for on the move YouTubers.
Note: All photos 3264 x 2448 dpi and videos 1920 x 1080 @ 288 kbps shot with this tablet, edited and exported to 4K via Cyberlink Powerdirector Android mobile paid app.
3. Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8 0 2019 Water Battery Gaming Test - https://youtu.be/KTR2U4jKXVo
Samsung Tab A 8 0 2015 - 4hrs 10mins (4 years old battery) vs Samsung Tab A 8 0 2019 - 6hrs 10mins (new battery)
4. World's Tallest Rain Waterfall at Jewel Changi Airport - Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 2019 shot & edit this video. Use Cinema FV-5 to unlock the camera dpi. Samsung could had enabled this camera with EIS but they didn't such a waste! https://youtu.be/ykL4lavuEok
Updated: 2019-09-20
5. Unboxing Hands-on a 3rd party Wireless Keyboard Cover for the Samsung Tab A 8.0 with Spen 2019 P200 & P205 models. Simple easy to setup and use bluetooth magnetic keyboard cover. This is most suitable for work on the go paired with the Spen nothing can stop you from finishing your work. https://youtu.be/fUeCzhR6WlY
I just ordered one! It's the only 8" s-pen tablet available and the price is right.
Have been looking for awhile now to replace my nvidia shield tab.

Yes no one else can do a tab with pen like Samsung. They should have given it 4GB Ram + 64GB for the same price. It will be a hot seller if they did it. Just uploaded the other tests have a look & comment in video ok thks!
I just got one and absolutely love it. Best design and features and the perfect size. If only we could soon get root for it.. dream dream..

Yep. This one nailed it! I couldn't ask for a better way to wake up the screen especially when its lying flat. :highfive:
This tab looks really good!
Can it actually make phone calls? (voice calls/ gsm calls)
If it can (and it has the proper earspeaker), then I could see this being my primary phone.
I only ever make calls around once a month anyway.
TLDR; Can this tablet make phone calls like a normal phone?
Yes the LTE model P205. They also sell the wifi model P200 so don't get the wrong model.
Anyone know which region firmware is best for usa?
My tablet is using tgy code which apparently is hong kong region.
I'm not having any issues but if another one is better then I'll download and flash.
is DEX installed?

having issues on transferring storage to SD card its not working.
In the specs it lists an RGB light sensor. Can anyone verify that the screen brightness adjusts automatically based on ambient light? (This is a feature that most inexpensive tablets don't have).
Thanks!

I can confirm that there is an adaptive brightness setting that will dim the screen in low-light conditions.
how to root?
does it have a fingerprint reader? I presume not. I'm going to order anyway, with LTE. I wish Samsung also had a model without the S-pen. I'm not using it, and I could save some cost.
On the other hand, given the confusing array of tablets all named Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8", the presence of the S-pen is a nice distinguishing feature. Yesterday, I was standing in a respectable shop and I was unable to tell whether the tablet I was holding was 2017 or 2019.
Any idea where to buy the tablet? It's not available in the US and the only website I found was some sketchy foreign site that's based in Hong Kong. Would love to have this tablet just to doodle and mess with, and especially since I'm heading to Alaska for vacation in August. Don't wanna bring my laptop (which was $1600) in fear of losing it. The price was really good on the website (it was listed as US $240, I believe), but I don't want to risk it, and Carphone Warehouse doesn't seem to have it yet after I looked around on their site.
If it gets to be too much of a hassle, though, I might just bite the bullet and get the 10.1 size 2016 version just so I could have the S Pen. It's a bit more expensive at $330, but I think it's still a good value, IMO.
hi Pegasus, yesterday I ordered the tablet from presumably the same website you saw:
https://www.tobydealsau.com/en_AU/product/samsung-galaxy-tab-a-8-sm-p205-3gb-32gb-lte-gray-3.html
I'm in Australia and for us the name of the website ends with AU, as if it was some local outfit. I also saw a similar name ending in UK.
I hope it arrives by end of the month. It is indeed cheap, but no so cheap to leave it in the snow overnight. Is Alaska snow-free at this time of the year ?
The reviews for this website were relatively good. Except there is practically no warranty, so I'm taking a gamble, trusting the Samsung brand.

Hey mate, I was skeptical about TobyDeals since the reviews for it were terrible, but saw a few people on Whirlpool who made the jump and received it.
I took the jump as well last Thursday and ordered the Wifi-only one for 322$, decent price considering Kogan were selling it for 399$.
Got email notifications from TobyDeals every single day regarding the order, and was dispatched on Friday.
Just received the parcel today, haven't opened it yet since I'm at work but will do when I get home.
I can feel that it is decently bubble-wrapped inside the parcel.
That's really fast shipping, way quicker than most sellers on AliExpress. Very impressed so far. Will definitely look into buying from them again, their price include GST and are really competitive.
AliExpress you now have to pay GST on top of the advertised price...
I reckon you'll have yours on Friday/Monday, if Toll Express doesn't stuff you around. I've had some shockers with them haha...
Will update you as soon as I open it
> the Wifi-only one for 322$ <
The LTE difference was less than $50, so I ordered the one with a SIM card. I don't intend to use it a lot outside the home, but I shall see. Perhaps I'll have a $10 Boost SIM in it for those rare occasions when I take it outside.
