XT1053 stuck on 4.4.2 - no update? - Moto X Q&A

I found a BNIB Moto X to replace my older one with a cracked screen. Out of the box it was on Jelly Bean and after a couple OTA updates it's on 4.4.2 but it's not updating anymore. Checking for updates says the software is update even though on it's an older than current version. Is there any way to bring to a newer Android version without rooting it given this situation?

My recommendation is to leave it on 4.4.2. Lollipop sucks.

I agree, but at least getting the new dialer from 4.4.3 might be nice.

[Q] 4.2 or 4.4

I just got an unlocked Moto X from amazon for use in the US(AIO) and Jamaica(Digicel)
I've been using a phone with 4.2.1. The Moto is supposed to be able to get an update to 4.4.
Would like some opinions on upgrading or staying with 4.2 that comes with it
Thanks for any advise

[Q] Android L OTA on Unlocked/Rooted

Got a notification for a system update a few hours ago, it's the Android L update. Running 4.4.4 unlocked & rooted on XT1095 Pure. Does anyone know if this update removes root/unlock, or will I be the first victim?
Also, on an unrelated note, does GravityBox for KK still work in L?

As far I know every OTA breaks the root, you will need to root again using the brand new CF method for Lollipop.
Xposed is not supported on Lollipop, so, Gravity Box will not work on it.

5.02?

Has anyone seen an update to 5.02 yet? I've read that 5.0 has some pretty big bugs in it. So I was hoping Motorola pushes out the new update quick. My Nexus 9 is already on 5.02

It'll be 5.1 before most of the bugs get fixed. 5.0.1 and 5.0.2 address some things, but not all.

Lollipop on n900a?

Hello,
I have been searching and looking. Is there a way to get the lollipop on a n900a? If so, what needs to be done? I don't think it's as simple as flashing the Cyanogenmod12 on a rooted 4.4.4. Any links or ideas how to get this to work?
Thanks in advance.
no. not until att releases an update.
How about using a safestrap?
nope. we need a leak or official release that has a kernel for lollipop.
Did you have to downgrade back to 4.4.2 and then upgrade to 4.4.4 with the stock kernel just curious. I seen that you were running a rooted 4.4.4?

There's a leak already here on xda, not yet for us, I wish somebody would make it work for us . http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/general/guide-t2983873
RoloRacer on KillerKat Note 3
So disappointed that AT&T are dragging there feet on releasing Lollipop 5.0
Wish we could find a version out there for SM900A
Still looking for a complete guide to getting on a working version of 5.0+ rooted, xposed sm-900A... even if it requires Odin's great wrath.

The only issue I'm having is the mic... other than that, I've got it rooted although SS won't work on this version... supposedly.
Enjoy.

[Q] Moto X Pure Edition Rooted on 4.4.4 update to 5.0

Hey Guys!
So i am on a rooted pure edition 4.4.4 Moto X Pure Edition (XT1095).
I do get the OTA update for 5.0 but I have not downloaded it because I have rooted the phone. So my question is , can I do a complete unroot using SuperSu and then continue with the OTA?
Is that safe? If not , what is the best way to get to 5.0
Thanks

Should work just fine from 4.4.4 to 5.x It did on my 2013 Nexus 7 which was stock rooted + unlocked bootloader. The only thing I ever had to do was re-root after and you'll have to do the same. The same root method and file works on 5.0.........I just used it a couple weeks ago on my X which was on 5.0 out of the box because I just got it.
Once you're on 5.0 though it's more work to get updates. Google changed what they're looking for when checking the partitions (can't remember exactly what offhand) and now if any modifications have been made (rooted, added/removed system apps, etc.) the OTA's will fail. On my N7 I had to wait for the factory image to be released and I just flashed the system.img in fastboot. I'm not sure what will be needed on the X since the only images I see so far are for 4.4.4
