Where's Formula and Shape Match on Note 5? - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there, guys
I am new to Android, just got the Note 5. My girlfriend has a Note 4 and her phone has something that would be specially for me as an Economics Grad student. Her SNote app has that formula match features, I mean, you handwrite it and then the app recognizes the correct expression. I tried to find it on my Note 5, actually that's a feature is kind of a dealbraker for me, and had no success. I went to a Samsung store and the folks out there told me that I just had to download it using Galaxy Apps. I tried hard but couldn't figure it out. Sorry for the noobie question, but where's this feature on my Note 5?
Thank you all!

[Q] Cisco Webex on the Note (or not)

WebEx included App in Galaxy Note
At least that is how I read the official Samsung Galaxy note presentation (UCC Cisco WebEx), but I can not find it anywhere on my note.
I can however install the app from the market and get a 14 day trial (can this really be what Samsung ment by putting it on the Note frontpage as a unique feature ?)
Is there a WebEx app on the note (is it free) ?
Can someone please throw some light on this as I need some app for online meetings (and this could be the right app for that).
Thanks !
I have installed webex on Note from market and no where i found a notification saying its a trail version

I found this to be a very good overview of using the Note 4. You can probably skip the unboxing part at the start and get right into the usage part.

The ones that do the best reviews for a newcomer are the following Youtube people
Zedomax
Pocketnow
C4E
Ricky The Android Guy
Watch their review videos and get good a good basic idea but in the end nothing will beat good old experimenting. Welcome to the Note 4 - you have entered a new world. The Iphone and Note 4 couldn't be anymore different. It will take a while to get used to Android and all its new possibilities. You probably will get frustrated at some points but I encourage you to stick with it and find out what you can REALLY do with an Android driven Note 4. The possibilities are limitless. Remember the basic rule about Android - if you don't like something - just change it. My Note 4 doesn't even resemble a stock android anymore because I tweaked it so much but I spent countless hours tinkering around with it. When you have questions - just ask politely and you will find there are tons of people willing to lend a hand.
Good luck and as I said welcome to a new world.
Hi off the top of my head I would think everybody should enable the S pen reminder setting where if you set your pen down and walk away without it your phone would beep and vibrate reminding you the pen is not in/near the phone anymore
To enable
Settings >
Scroll down to the tab “Motions and Control/Control” >
Tap S Pen >
Tick S Pen Alerts
Its probably ticked by default but cant remember and its good to make sure its enabled cause I walk away a couple of times and forgot the pen haha

[Q] First time Note User any Tips?

This is my first Samsung Device and my first Note. I've always used Nexus devices. Had the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 but the Nexus 6 was a little too big and the Note 4 had a better camera, screen, and battery. I've always stayed away from Samsung phones because touch wiz and the gimmicky features. So far I am loving the phone. I am even finding some of the features I thought would be a gimmick useful. So far I have done a few things to make the phone more Nexus like. I have installed the Google Keyboard and Google Now Launcher. Is there anything else I should do? Any apps I should disable? I want to make the phone as snappy as possible and if there is any crap running in the background that can be turned off I want to know about it.
Also what is the deal with the Samsung account? Do I need one? My contacts and stuff are all backed up with Google so what is the Samsung account for?
Disable anything you can that you don't use.
Don't use a Samsung account is not worth it.

If you are going to use s-note or the s apps, the Samsung account will back that up. Also there's some pretty cool "galaxy gifts" in their app store that are useful and free. I'd create one and check out what they offer. After all its free and you might find something you like.

Samsung Account also backup your text and Mms. I'd say it's worth it.

[Q] shape and handwriting recognition, where did they go?

I tested a Samsung galaxy note 8 mini tablet nearly 1 year ago and was amazed at the snote app which instantly converted rough hand drawn shapes such as squares into an editable vector equivalent, and also converted handwriting into text on the fly with near 100% accuracy. It was a note takers dream
I just bought a galaxy note 4, and the snote app is missing both those features.
Why did Samsung cripple the note 4?
Without these 2 features, I find the spen useless for meeting note taking, the only reason I bought it.
Or am I missing something?
I found the handwriting keyboard and found the recognition rate appalling.

Same here and I'm not sure why it's so bad, I have a 2004 toshiba touchscreen pentium m "tablet" pc running xp that blows my note away with shorthand and cursive.
Maybe it only nails Korean perfectly
vector how to
Thanks for posting the "how to" for making a vector shape. I would never have guessed how to do it.
Unfortunately, this is not what I was looking for - the snote app "used to" do it on the fly, as you draw, which was FANTASTIC.
The way you outlined is slow, laborious, and un-initiative - i.e. useless for note taking.
My 2012 Note 10.1 has the on the fly shape recognition feature. I love that.
The version in this Note 4 isn't as good and I miss the Wolfram Alfa integration as well.

I miss that feature from Note 2 but I think only that is available in Note 4. Maybe someone with knowlege can extract S-note from Note 2 and possibly it could work with Note 4.

Poll: How many people are using Galaxy Apps?

Samsung seeds many Galaxy Gifts through the Galaxy Apps Application. How many people are actually using this feature preloaded on their Samsung devices?

I have looked through the gifts to see if anything interests me. I like the Kindle deal. I enjoy getting a free ebook once a month even if it's a small selection. I'm not complaining though, free is free. I'm already enjoying the device.
never used it until I got my gear 2 watch .... now I have several apps installed via galaxy store
I disabled it in the very first day together with other bloatware, but also had to re enable and use it to download the Gear Manager app... Just for that till now.
kindle deal and some other spen and montblanc stuff is awesome.
Im getting app updates for pre installed Samsung apps. Also i used it to some download additinal apps which were not pre installed, like those camera modes
There is some galaxy apps
I must have missed them before I debloated. ..

I've downloaded a few new camera modes as well as Hamcom Office from Samsung through their app store.
Used it for:
1. MontBlanc content download
2. Updating S note
3. Downloading optical reader app - converts images to editable text..not like the photo note. by that i mean perfectly editable text
ps: I see no further use of galaxy apps
