New upgrade Android 5.1.1 for P8 - Huawei P8 Guides, News, & Discussion

For those using beta B191 you can upgrade to B350. This is an excellent version, simply the best existing ROM today for our P8.
Remember: You have to be in B191 to upgrade.
Download is here: https://mega.nz/#F!bwQgUCAL!sYcyIO20Lmnv4bxnGX-5lA
Create a /dload folder on your microSD and copy UPDATE.ZIP (do not unzip it) into this folder and apply upgrade localy from "Settings" "Updates"
NFC bug existing in B191 is over. All bugs I had found in B191 are also gone. Battery is also better. I believe this will be the first official 5.1.1 version released first to betatesters.
I'm using it since November 13th and it's just fantastic. Enjoy it.
PS: TouchPlus is not available in this version.

This is interestng, can you provide pictures of your battery stats?

The graphics provided by my phone can help me but not others because everybody uses their P8s different.
I get a bit more than two days with 5 hours 20 minutes screen but all depends how you have configured your phone and what applications you use.
What I can tell you for sure, battery drain is better controlled than with B191 which was good already.

Nope, you must go first to B170 (full ROM) and the B191 and B350 (both partial OTA updates). Here you have all what you need:
B170: http://download-c.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=49884&version=118243&siteCode=hu
B191: http://dl.free.fr/vYjCHxg8K
B350: https://mega.nz/#F!bwQgUCAL!sYcyIO20Lmnv4bxnGX-5lA
As usual, you create a /dload folder in your microSD card and you put inside UPDATE.APP (B170) and UPDATE.ZIP (B191 & B350) uncompressed (zip file) and you do a local update from "Settings"

P8 gra-ul00

NOPE is only for GRA-L09 as B170 and B191 besides GRA-UL00 has no NFC either (See first post)

Thanks man. I downgraded to B170 and Updated to B191 then , Updated to B350 WORKS like a charm. Thanks again

i have a problem! at first I was on b120 from Vodafone I decided to install b170, I installed b170 and after that I installed the 18kb file from the CUSTOM folder. finally I reinstalled b170 and everything was working fine and without any error. But I am not able to install b191 it always gives me an error at 3% I decided to install b200 and everything is working properly. But I´m very interested in Lollipop 5.1.1 although i can´t install it!! do you know what could be the problem! thanks!!!
pd: I also tried to downgrade from b200 to b170 and i tried again... but nothing.. and I installed the 18kb file on b200 too.

Questions:
1. Did you unzip UPDATE.ZIP? You should NOT unzip UPDATE.ZIP
2. How do you install B191? You should do it locally, from Android "Settings" menu. Not using the three buttons because it's a partial update.
To go back from B200 to B170 you have to do it using the three buttons method (*), not locally.
Everything will be fine if you follow these instructions?
(*) Three buttons method (Force upgrade/downgrade)
Step 1. Format the Micro SD card (This operation is optional).
Step 2. Copy the Software: main package to a directory named dload.
Step 3. Copy the entire dload folder (with UPDATE.APP in it) to the root directory of the Micro SD card.
Step 4. Make sure your handset is power off. Insert the Micro SD card into the handset. Press the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN key, and then press the POWER key to power on the phone and enter the Software Upgrade Mode.
Step 5. When the progress bar stop, the phone will restart automatically.

What he means is - in 5.0 roms there is a Mobile Standby/Mobile Radio On bug which is a big battery drainer...

Artz go to Battery - Cell standby and see if there is some Mobile radio active there

Besides, I don't understand well your request. If that happens with all ROMs, that shouldn't be a reason for not upgrading to B350. In the worst case, it will be the same than other ROMs, won't be?

this is the bug, it's prezent in b200 and all others roms till now
i don't have time to update, i'll wait for o stable version but was just curios if this bug is still prezent thanks

IMHO that's is just a description. It doesn't mean radio is active and using battery!

Huawei P8 [GRA-UL10 & GRA-UL00] How to upgrade to Marshmallow [China]

If you are like me, a strange owner of the china version (I got it as a gift from china) you also probably saw that other regions got it but the china region (C00BXX) is not getting any love, in china, for some reason, it is only available if you signed for the beta test program, but not anymore. This will not be a comprehensive guide since my main language is not English but some basic steps you MUST follow.
Edit: It seems that Huawei now allows you to upgrade without being in the program just follow this steps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67959028&postcount=4 (It says it is for GRA-UL00 but should work for UL10 too) if it works ignore the next steps.
All steps are important do NOT skip any, I also assume you know how to install firmwares (copying the zip or update.app in dload folder).
You must be on C00B220 if you are on B230 downgrade it to B220 (you can download it here http://emuirom123.dbankcloud.com/GRA-UL00-UL10_EMUI3.1_Android5.0_B220.zip?rid=2082. Also if you have root you should also do a clean install again.
After that install this firmware https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5nCMmhHnLDNSlhYb0R5MnozX2M/view. Don't extract it, copy update.zip to dload folder in sdcard and install it. I searched for this file for many many hours and had to translate a lot of chinese pages to give it to you, you now have Marshmallow, but it is too outdated (B320).
Now, make sure you have the latest version of HiSuite, update it if needed. Connect your phone with the instructions given in HiSuite. In HiSuite click "Update" and it should find the latest version.
Now just sit and relax, after that you have the latest version of android on your chinese P8

Today a new firmware came to my P8 Premium. GRA-UL10COOB358
does this work only on Asian/Chinese ROMs?
I am looking to switch over from the Asian/Chinese ROM that came with the phone by default to an English/European ROM or something.
How would do I that?

You cannot change from Asian Region to another region like Europe because you are going to brich your phone.
I found this old site http://www.carbontesla.com/2015/09/how-to-change-region-of-your-huawei-honor-4c-root/ but i think it is too risky.

Problem -- Music folder
Flashed B380, everything is fine. One thing that drives me crazy -- on inernal memory, there is a Music folder that appeared after update, with some songs on it, and it cannot be deleted, nor folder nor files... Tried it from file manager, windows, adb (permission denied)... Still, folder and file permissions look fine... Any ideas, please?
Why is everyboday asking if someone tried and if it works fine?! I wrote in the OP that I tried and it works fine.
B380 seems to be very smooth.
Already flash this rom and so far so good but too bad all my themes and fonts collection in HWThemes folder (internal storage) is wiped.

Yeah it's true!

What is going on with Huawei and software updates?

I have a SIM free UK P9. Early on in its life it received updates happily but I have still not received Nougat and I'm still on the September 2016 Security Patch from Google. I've never rooted or tampered with the device, so where are my updates? Are Huawei simply too busy with other phones to bother updating flagships from only last year?
It is unacceptable to me that a £450 device from a manufacturer purportedly looking to compete with the big guns in the premium phone space cannot be bothered to keep its older handsets up to date. How is a user supposed to put his trust in a company when they seem to forget about their older devices once newer ones are released onto the market?
Meanwhile a friend of mine with a SIM free Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (!) has June's security patches.
Small wonder people don't take Huawei seriously. This P9 is a lovely device with great battery life and is still (for my usage) an excellent handset; however I will not be buying another Huawei until I am confident that they are willing to maintain support for older devices. So far it seems that some people in different parts of the world on various carriers *do* get updates (or at least have more recent ones) but Huawei seem incapable of rolling them out consistently and across the board.
Disappointing.
Anyone else have any thoughts on this? I don't wish to put Huawei down too much as I think they bring some interesting things to the market but one of my biggest bugbears is where manufacturers forget that after-sales support and updates are some of the things that contribute to people's perception of a company. Might as well just buy Doogees and Vernees off Banggood without it.
Don't wait huawei to send update, use firmware finder from play store,or dload method,or hisuite method, all these methods are officially safe and keep your warranty. What your build number ?
Build number is EVA-L09C432B182.
I'm not really into flashing ROMs these days as i don't want to mess anything up. I don't want to flash firmware that isn't UK SIM free either, and if I haven't had that update OTA then I assume it simply hasn't been released.
I don't have a PC anyway as I sold my Surface Pro and now only have a MacBook.
Use firmware finder from play store, and firmware finder proxy,it is the easy way, only search for the rom u want and let your system update search for update by using proxy,if from MM to nougat u will not loose anything.
You'd have to guide me through that step by step as to be honest I don't entirely understand anything other than the bit about using something from the Play Store
OK so I worked this out. The only firmware it says is approved for my device is the next up on the list - EVAL09C432B330-LOG.
This downloads fine through the stock Huawei update menu (as if i am just doing a normal update) and the phone reboots but then the installation fails, whether I choose the full package or standard update option.

do you have a way to get the files from firmware finder onto your SD card? If so create a folder called DLOAD on the root directory and then put the update file in that folder. Power off the phone and hold all three buttons (power and vol+/-) until you get the firmware updating screen.
Let me know if it still fails.
Thanks. Will doing this cause any mismatches in future and stop me being able to receive OTA updates, or affect Android Pay?
I have put the update.zip in a folder called dload in the root of the SD but neither the boot method of installation nor the dialler method seems to find it. I've tried with a different update.zip with the same result

Hi, this isn't all that clear in the other instructions I've read, and historically flashing update.zip from the root of an SD card is quite a typical way to flash software, so you can understand the confusion!
Are you sure this will work? Other threads online indicate that flashing is much more difficult than this and requires unlocking the bootloader. Am I missing something here?
I also tried this but failed on my phone. I put the update.app in the dload folder but always fails after about 14%

Just to let you know, after downloading a bazillion files and trying every method under the sun I finally got this to work. It is now running B386 firmware.
Using the manual update method didn't work for me; the steps I had to follow are as follows:
With Firmware Finder, choose the B386 full OTA package - check for compatibility first (it said mine was compatible with it) and choose to install via proxy. Set up your WiFi to run the localhost/8080 proxy settings as instructed by FF. While the file is downloading, remove the proxy settings from your WiFi, allow it to reconnect and continue the download.
I then just left the phone to its own thing. I was actually watching a video in the background when it rebooted itself and began the installation process, which didn't fail as I expected it to.
Everything seems to be running fine now.
Thanks to the person in this thread who suggested using Firmware Finder.

Wrong build number - How to reflash ?

Hi !
I have a NEM-L51C432. I recently installed the new update available (B357) using Huawei Firmware Finder.
Due to some issues, I then decided to rollback to a previous build using the dload method. I succeeded, although I can't recall if the one which worked was B350 or B355.
The problem is, my build is still B357 in the "About phone" menu even though I have the March security patch.
I also noticed that the clock app is missing. Moreover, I get a notification telling me that apps are non-compatible with my phone when I install/update them, even though they work fine.
I can't update system apps (like Chrome or WebView for instance) due to different signature.
I have no idea if these things are related.
So, can someone please tell me how can I get my phone to display the correct build number and eventually correct the other issues in the process ? I'm ready to wipe and re-flash if I have to.
Side question, when I download from HFF in order to use the dload method, most of the time I have the choice between one, two, or even three zips to download.
Each contain a UPDATE.APP file, but I don't get the same files when I extract from it, depending on the zip I downloaded.
Can someone explain me this as well as which file I should prefer (update.zip or one of the other two if available) ?
Thank you.
You need to flash all 3 files via dload.
There is a detailed quide in my signature for dload method. You can flash b350/355/357 or above using that.

Thank you for your answer.
Do you mean I need the three zips from HFF ? For instance, if I try to download B355, I have the choice between these :
http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1581/g104/v84990/f1/full/update.zip
http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/...90/f1/full/public/update_data_full_public.zip
http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/...l/NEM-L51_hw_eu/update_full_NEM-L51_hw_eu.zip
They all have a UPDATE.APP within them, but they don't have the same files when I extract. What should I do ?

Okay, thanks.
Today I tried re-flashing the update.zip file of all versions via dload, even MM versions. In the end, the only one which worked was the FullOTA-MF-PV of NEM-L51C432B350. All other versions failed to install at 5 %.
I don't know if this is related, but this is the only update which is available as "PV", whatever that means.
In any case, as I said in my first post, my build number is still B357 (while it should be 350) and I don't have the Huawei clock app. Some system apps are impossible to update as well. Plus, this will probably cause issue with future updates...

Pv is something you can flash via twrp. Regarding misssing apps, flash the smaller file, around 600-800 MB, via twrp and it will restore apps, themes, fm radio etc.

Can't flash the update.zip with TWRP (at least, with OldDroid's). However, I did managed to get back missing apps by flashing the second zip file, thank you about that.
Doesn't work with the third one though, and my build number is still wrong. Any idea about how to fix this ?

Which build number you flash and which is the one showing?
yes, only 2nd file will work and bring back the missing apps.

In the end, I solved the issue by extracting the VERSION.img file from the UPDATE.APP of the third zip and flashing it with TWRP.
I then updated to B355 and B357 with HFF proxy.
Weird thing is, the B357 update re-locked my bootloader and when I unlocked it again, I was stuck with an old version of Google Play Services which couldn't be updated (different signature issue). Luckily, I had a backup from the previous update but this is weird.
Thanks for your help. You've done a lot.

V12.0.2.0.QFAEUXM Beta or Stable?

Hi all, I see there is an update listed on this page link V12.0.2.0.QFAEUXM.
Can someone confirm if this has been released as stable already? And if you received it, how is this an improvement over V12.0.1? I am holding on to V11 as I heard V12s initial release was not that well polished and strains the battery.
Thanks!
it's only security update for August

- I have received this OTA update and it's stable.
- Everything work's more or less stable, at least I didn't find any issue until now.
- What I have noticed is that Weather app is replaced with G version in his name and now one can update this app manually without previous notorious "authorisation" issue.
- Mi Global Browser is still there and still can't be uninstalled ( Failed [-1000] error in adb shell during uninstall).
- In Indian Forbes site I have seen that they will release update which will allow uninstalling MiBrowser and few other apps because Indian government have banned all of these apps.
- Battery life is a little better from previous ROM.
- There is no more stuttering in Chrome browser.
- That's my humble experience so far.
Thanks @Jehonan I think I may give it a shot then.
Cannot flash the update
I am on miui_CEPHEUSEEAGlobal_V12.0.1.0.QFAEUXM.
I did not get the OTA yet and my battery life is very poor so I am eager to upgrade, I tried to update manually from the updater to either files:
- miui_CEPHEUSEEAGlobal_V12.0.2.0.QFAEUXM
- miui-blockota-cepheus_eea_global-V12.0.1.0.QFAEUXM-V12.0.2.0.QFAEUXM
but I always get the "Sorry, flash to this stable version is not allowed".
Any ideas what is the problem?

Which update procedure did You follow?
Did You make folder on root of the internal drive, copied appropriate downloaded ROM inside this folder and start upgrade from there?
I went to the Rom version in settings. Cliqued on the 3 dots. Select rom to install. Then tried to import the files from download, root, dowloaded_roms folders. Same result: "flash to this stable version is not allowed".
With the same procedure I am able te reflash miui_CEPHEUSEEAGlobal_V12.0.1.0.QFAEUXM as much as I want. But no way to upgrade.
I also tried from recovery. But there is no option to flash update.zip.

Did You tried with OTA version of this update?
Same procedure, in root of the drive in downloaded_rom folder copy OTA update and start update from there.
Here is a link to ROM's.
P.S.
I believe that You must first go with OTA version of the firmware because of the downloaded ROM decrypting procedure. After that You can go with recovery type of ROM (full ROM upgrade).
Yes, I tried the update file as well.
Both files give the same error ("Sorry, flash to this stable version is not allowed"):
- miui_CEPHEUSEEAGlobal_V12.0.2.0.QFAEUXM_44dcb66933_10.0.zip
- miui-blockota-cepheus_eea_global-V12.0.1.0.QFAEUXM-V12.0.2.0.QFAEUXM-789914bb83-10.0.zip
I am able to flash V12.0.1 from the same site so I am sure to be on the right ROM:
- miui_CEPHEUSEEAGlobal_V12.0.1.0.QFAEUXM_4d28c84f58_10.0
Something else is preventing the upgrade.
Well, I found out that I needed to change the region settings from France to Belgium... now it updates.
How stupid!
Hi all, I'm having a strange behaviour after the update: the quick charge ( using a wireless charger ) isn't working anymore.
Does anyone have the same issue?

Did You check wireless charger itself?!
