[ROM][5.1] Google Play Lite Edition / Stable * Fast * LMY470.H9 Android L Upgrade - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On my HTC One (m7) I have a message suggesting an upgrade on a fresh install of the [ROM][5.1] Google Play Lite Edition / Stable * Fast *
I am not sure if it is safe (or even possible) to do this upgrade since this version of GPE has had alterations to the original. What s the best way to procedd. Will it install all the nonsense google apps I dont want and/or screw up my current ROM install? Totally new to this ROM and I don't see anyone discussing it in the forums for this particular ROM. Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers

I know some guys upgraded to 5.1 but not much. This time just stay at 5.0 and wait until rom cook android 6.0 port to m7.

That's the interesting thing. My ROM is already 5.1, but message is for upgrading to 5.1. This is the confusing thing. Wondering if it will take away the benefits of this ROM (lite version with less bloatware from Google). Thanks for your response though.

[Q] flashing older rom with newer/latest firmware

Hello all,
I'm soon going to get a third M7. The device I'm getting has been updated to latest official version with Sense 6 (Android 4.4.3?), so I guess firmware was also updated.
Since I hate Sense 6 (flame away ) I'd like to ask if it's ok to flash an older rom with Sense 5.5 (Android 4.4.2) without downgrading the firmware?
As far as I can remember I had no issues running a Sense 6 rom with older firmware on my previous device, but what about the other way around?
Thank you in advance!

You should be fine, as long as you're S-OFF.
Might want to doublecheck with some more experienced folks here.

[Q] Installed Bootloader Unlocked, Rooted, xRecovery v0.1, whats next?

Hey boys,
Finally i decide to upgrade my Xperia X8 (from the last android official update) to a new version. I past the day reading guides, looking videos and finally i got my:
* Bootloader Unlocked.
* Rooted.
* xRecovery v0.1 Installed
Now im trying to decide wich version should i try to upgrade. Some people would say as a first shoot i should upgrade to 2.3.7, but i would like to install a newer version of android like 3.X or 4.X if possible.
My question is, there is any problem if i try to upgrade from Android (2.0 or 2.1) not exactly sure to a newer version (Android 4.0)?
Wich guides do you recommend me to follow, i think that the newer versions ask you to install something called kernel, but 2.3.7 doesnt right?
Thanks for advance.

[Q] Stability of Dirty Unicorn

Hello guys! I was thinking of switching to the official dirty unicorns rom version 9.4 for my htc one m7 sprint, and was wondering what is the stability like? Also since my phone is s-on is there any extra steps I need to take to flash the rom supplied from http://download.dirtyunicorns.com/files/m7spr/Official/ (the latest 5.1.1 version) . ok, last question, im currently on android 5.0.2 sense 7, so to jump to 5.1.1 do I need to flash a firmware update? I haven't flashed roms much so I don't want to miss anything and brick my phone. Is there anything else I should know before flashing?
Thanks for your help!
Also, which gapps should I use fromhttp://download.dirtyunicorns.com/files/gapps/?
Thanks!

Android 6.0 isn't even fully deployed to nexus devices yet, you'll have to be much more patient . We will probably see 6.0 CM or AOSP roms relatively soon. I'm not expecting any 6.0 rom based on HTC Sense UI. CM13 development started about 10 days ago btw.

Custom Roms
As I am sure you know of by now. There are some unofficial cm13 roms on XDA threads that will bring Marshmallow on the Htc One m7 for both GSM and verizon/sprint variants. As per usual these roms are in early stages so bugs are expected. Overall the roms I have tested work smoothly and features like doze, app permissions are present. Bugs like FC on camera while taking pictures and phone restarting when plugging headphones do annoy me a lot and thus I went back to stable 5.1 roms. You could try the marshmallow roms out of curiosity like I did, but you probably should wait if you want to use them as a daily driver for your phone.
Hello
I've didn't heard anything
VanirAOSP
I recommend the VanirAOSP ROMs. They're usually among the first to make builds of new versions of Android, and they do a great job of doing it in a timely manner while having a grasp on stability. As of their latest nightlies, the only bug on their Marshmallow builds is that the camera app force closes when you launch the camcorder app, but this is a bug with all Marshmallow ROMs. A big plus with Vanir is that they do support all M7 variants, which as a Sprint user myself, is fantastic.
I hope you enjoy it, and Happy Holidays!

Happy with 5.1.1 but is 6.0 better?

Not going to happen. Ever.
but why? It's something I can't understand. There can be ROMS with MIUI or FlymeOS for this phone but not with HTC Sense and Marshmallow?

Well MIUI is KitKat based, 4.4.4, and I haven't used Flyme on my M7 but on the Nexus 4 it's 5.1.x Lollipop based so I am going to assume the same, I could be wrong and it might be Kitkat or 5.0.x Lollipop. I think we have seen the end of Sense ROMs to be honest, I think it's highly unlikely that we are going to get a Marshmallow Sense rom. Someone probably would've ported it over by now if so. The development community is slowly shrinking, this phone did come out in early 2013 don't forget, it's 3 years old and most people have moved on to a new phone. We may see a port or two of CM's build of Android N when it's released to the public later this year and CM works on it, but that might even be a stretch. If it doesn't see it then I'm moving back to my Nexus 4 as my daily phone since it's bound to get it.
I might try to port it, as soon as i have some time.

Yepp, would love to see that to. Going to start deving on this device and the my touch 4g. Both have been great to me and deserve to remain alive. Sad they only develop for 2 years and CM does the same and end the same time period. Device looks better then the newer ones with the back and home button
¤-TIP FROM THE NOOB-¤-¤-
1. enable USB Debugging before flashing custom recovery.
2. back up system before granting apk's root permission, editing system files, and flashing a new rom.
? better safe than sorry ?

No need to say that. I am currently working on an Android 6.0 with sense rom myself.
