[Q] Installed Bootloader Unlocked, Rooted, xRecovery v0.1, whats next? - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey boys,
Finally i decide to upgrade my Xperia X8 (from the last android official update) to a new version. I past the day reading guides, looking videos and finally i got my:
* Bootloader Unlocked.
* Rooted.
* xRecovery v0.1 Installed
Now im trying to decide wich version should i try to upgrade. Some people would say as a first shoot i should upgrade to 2.3.7, but i would like to install a newer version of android like 3.X or 4.X if possible.
My question is, there is any problem if i try to upgrade from Android (2.0 or 2.1) not exactly sure to a newer version (Android 4.0)?
Wich guides do you recommend me to follow, i think that the newer versions ask you to install something called kernel, but 2.3.7 doesnt right?
Thanks for advance.

[Q] Android 2.3 Upgrade

Greetings from Germany. Phone runs on 2.2 Android with Kernel 2.6.32.9 root @ SE-S608#1
The Samsung Kies says
PDA:JPH
PHONE:JPP
CSC:JPA (ORS)
I wanted to upgrade to Gingerbread, but Kies says its already running on the newest available (Froyo). Im using the english version of Kies, think it doesn't matter?
1. Im using the german O2 Network, and I think the phone is not branded or rooted cause its new. Is the Gingerbread not out yet for my phone version ?
2. Can I flash the newest firmware like 2.3.4 by using Odin - WITHOUT rooting the phone - (rooting voids the warranty) ?
3. Is there currently any good custom ROM which is perfectly stable and has none bugs or lacking functions of official Gingerbread 2.3 ?
Heres a great 2.3.3 rom (Darkys)
Very stable and very fast, give it a go, you have to flash the JVH base rom first.
have a read....

i'll give this rom a try, heard good things about it.
Thank you.

[Q]Install Update (2.3.6) - Root later?

Hey there,
Now I am also a proud owner of a Galaxy Note
Just one little question:
I am pretty sure, that I will root this device - like i did with all my android devices. But I would like to wait a couple of weeks, to be sure that this device working fine so far, you know, warranty etc...
I am currently running the 2.3.5 firmware and there is an update avaliable (i believe it's 2.3.6) - Am I able to root my device even after updating?
There are some HTC devices, which are not rootable with the latest stock firmware - that's why I'm asking
I appreciate any help

You just flash cm's 4.2.2 like you did 4.1.....no different. Better read up on it.....sounds like you're a bit confused on how things work. Better to understand exactly what you are doing and not just blindly follow instructions.....best way to keep your device working smoothly and issue free.
The fact that you're on 4.1 has nothing to do with what you flash. Unless you're talking about a dirty flash.....which is a bad idea when changing o/s versions. You want to do a clean install. Backup your apps with titanium backup first.....then off you go.

Running new apps on old OS

The newest version of snapchat requires at least Android 4.0
Is there any possible way I can update my OS on my exhibit ii from my current version, 2.3.6. to Android 4.0?
I read a lot of posts about rooting and such but I really don't understand what it is or how to do it
If someone could provide me with a fix for the snapchat issue (running it on my current OS) or detailed instructions on how to safely root my device to run Android 4.0 on my phone then I will be the happiest girl in the world!
Please please please help! I just want snapchat back

[ROM][5.1] Google Play Lite Edition / Stable * Fast * LMY470.H9 Android L Upgrade

On my HTC One (m7) I have a message suggesting an upgrade on a fresh install of the [ROM][5.1] Google Play Lite Edition / Stable * Fast *
I am not sure if it is safe (or even possible) to do this upgrade since this version of GPE has had alterations to the original. What s the best way to procedd. Will it install all the nonsense google apps I dont want and/or screw up my current ROM install? Totally new to this ROM and I don't see anyone discussing it in the forums for this particular ROM. Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers
I know some guys upgraded to 5.1 but not much. This time just stay at 5.0 and wait until rom cook android 6.0 port to m7.

That's the interesting thing. My ROM is already 5.1, but message is for upgrading to 5.1. This is the confusing thing. Wondering if it will take away the benefits of this ROM (lite version with less bloatware from Google). Thanks for your response though.
