MiraVision, ClearMotion & (more of 30FPS Now is possible!) - Redmi Note 2 Original Android Development

There are at least two very important things for me, and that would be an excellent improvement to the user experience of this phone.
The first is can use MiraVision. This is a great improvement to the image quality.
The software comes preinstalled !!! at least in the weekly version 5.11.26 and 5.12.3 ...
Now you can be activated, and it is magnificent !!! but the settings can not be saved.
When turning off the display, it returns to the default setting.
The second is be able to record video at normal speed, at least at 60FPS. Helio x10 can do that and much more, and the image sensor too, the software why not?
If we succeed in this, the phone would win many positive points.
Anyone wants help me?

Of course you can't save the settings, miui have a stock screen management

Well ... Now you can record video in HD at 60FPS (or more)
The solution is here
But we need help to make it work the "slow motion".
We need the name of the tag for this mode.

You know if it's possible to use clear motion in CM?
That feature is really amazing..

60 FPS camera
Simply MIUI lacks media_profiles.xml, that usually is included in every Android version in /system/etc
This file is read from multimedia apps in order to get phone's capabilities with camcorder.
If you insert that file in MIUI the stock camera app will read it and the camcorder fps drop will be bypassed. The camera will record at 60fps also in low light condition! Actually file works fine, in fact it will put the exposure at a low level in order to get best fps performance. But it isn't so optimized and the Spanish team is working on it. You can download the file from https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1jCoBYPR8eGbVVXZkM1V2VBdUk/view?usp=sharing
You have to set permission to 644 RW R R
Slow motion will not work for now. But it's great that at least we will have a perfect camera fps for now (720p 60fps and 1080p 46fps).
The question is, why if the hardware of our phone is so powerful Xiaomi made a rom that actually doesn't reflect this powerfulness??

For cyanogenmod we don't have anything right....?
Superb job!

1080P Video Recording!!!!!!

Alright don't chew my arse if I am not right, but I think I just might be...
Gspot image attached of a 10sec. sample video using the below settings and attached media_profiles.xml
What I have done is edited the build.prop with a new property using Prop Editor:
Code:
ro.media.camcorder.1080p=mp4,h264,60,24000000,aac,128000,44100,2
So property is:
Code:
ro.media.camcorder.1080p
Value:
Code:
mp4,h264,60,24000000,aac,128000,44100,2
I also made changes to the Media_profiles.xml file and have attached that file in zip format.
To install:
Unzip the file
using root explorer go to /System/etc
Rename media_profiles.xml to media_profiles.xml.bak
copy the new media_profiles.xml file to /System/etc
Change permissions to rw-r--r--
Reboot
Open up the camcorder
Goto Settings 1080P Shows HD+ on the screen when recording..
enjoy 1080P video recording...
FYI.. In 720p mode the same 10sec video had a file size of 14MB
In 1080 mode same subject matter video 10 sec. with a file size of 21MB.
Another build.prop edit:
ro.camcorder.videoModes=true
Default is false
This enables Video mode, which includes Video message, Normal, Slow motion, and Fast motion.
Hope this helps!!
The BIG question is, why do you want 1080P recordings? The optics can not really even support 720P and 1080P will not make it look better, probably even worse and the file will be twice as big. Playback of 1080P I can understand.
Just my 0.02
Cheers
nice post, but is the 1080p recording still only 24fps?
Also, to solve the spacing problem in the post, put the lines inside the Code tags
Code:
ro.media.camcorder.1080p=mp4,h264,60,24000000,aac,128000,44100,2

Being able to extract any frame and have it 2mp is pretty cool to me. It the highest resolution, if you're playing it on a nice full HD screen, it will fill every pixel. It does look better in 1080p

I'm actually glad that it's 24fps. If you think, any professional movie on a dvd only plays 24fps. When it gets up to 30fps, it plays faster and looks more like a home video, so I like the 24fps look better.
Thanks for this will try it out tonight!

Not work on Stock rom! At least for me...
It looks better but our software is not optimized to record 1080p yet. So videos are slightly choppy.

Works great on CherryBlur!
Still a little choppy during recording, but the output file is definitely 1080p at 24fps.
Playback is very smooth.
Nice find on the xml file.
Doesn't work for me too!!!
p.s. atrix has far more optics than just 2.5 mpx (1080p)

A agurzhiy and yusmiza... Did you change the permissions of the media_profiles.xml to rw-r--r-- and reboot after copying the file over and making the changes in the build prop?
does the front camera work? noticed in you xml you put the high setting for the front cam at 720P
Seems to work for me. At least 720 and 1080 the file sizes were different anyway (for the same time frame) Nothing to really test it on here at work.
edit: When taking pictures the 720 and 1080 file sizes are different also...though both say 3.8 mp still
i just edited myself!
Please tell me the version of your FW and is it a stock camera?
p.s. i do not care 1080, i need SloMo, but my buildProp has on default ro.camcorder.videoModes=true
Default was true for me
running Ken's GB beta 4 and yes stock camera
i'll try to copy your file. I found slomo and fastmo
but both of them, while playing are just usual video. Nothing faster, nothing slower, despite the fact that camera on slomo each second counts as 3 seconds (so it shows after 3 seconds that 9 seconds were recorded)
y2... Thanks for catching that!! I didn't realize I didn't put the front camera setting back to norm.. My front Camera doesn't work due to a swimming pool incident with my Atrix, but it will usually come up with a black screen.. now I get a FC.. I will make the appropriate changes and update the file.. Let me know if the new file lets the front cam work on yours...

the optics don't matter, it's the sensor. the sensor is also not able to capture constant data at the full 5 MP (video); it can take pictures at that level but it can't handle video at that level. that's why whenever you record a video on you digital camera, it's at a much smaller resolution, or why when you do burst-mode on some cameras, the maximum size is smaller than the regular MP rating.

[MOD] Gr1 Camera modded - no shutter sounds, better quality for videos & pictures

Hi all,
I'm using Paul's great Gr1 (GB 2.3.4) from almost day one and even as my "daily driver" .
I tried the usual camera mods and found none of them working (just experienced boot loops).
So, I was longing for a respective camera mod - similar to somemadcaaant's mod but for GB/ Gr1. As no mod for Gr1 surfaced until now, I decided to rip apart the app by myself.
After some googling and a time intensive code analysis, I figured out how to accomplish what I was looking for (no shutter sounds, quality improvements).
I finally decided to share my mod with the community.
You can flash it with the update zip in CWM or just copy the apk to \system\app using a root file explorer.
NB: Unfortunately I was not able to make most of the Full-HD video mods work. After some testing I came to the conclusion, it must be some kernel bug because there are no hints in the logcat, that something is going wrong. And even the stock app behaves in the same way!
Maybe it's just happening to me, so provide some feedback/ hints here please!
I'm sharing it anyway, because maybe somebody finds it useful like it is.
Please find the resulting apk (plus update script) attached to this post. Enjoy!
Installation:
Flash the attached zip with CWM ("install zip from sd-card") or copy the apk to your \system\app folder manually.
I modded the following (please note the current restrictions!):
Disabled shutter & AF sounds (still & video) - timer sounds are still enabled (on purpose --> no change!)
Increased preview fps to 40 (--> reduced page tearing)
Changed default to show video after capture to false
Picture quality:
Set normal picture quality to 80
Set fine picture quality to 95
Set superfine picture quality to 100
1080p:
*Set FPS to 30
*Set normal video quality to 7Mbs (=fine in LG app)
*Set fine video quality to 12Mbs
*Set superfine video quality to 17Mbs
Set audio bitrate to 128Kbs
*not working due to buggy kernel (Gr1)? --> reverts to default 15fps & 9Mbs
720p:
Set normal video quality to 4Mbs (=superfine in LG app)
Set fine video quality to 9Mbs
Set superfine video quality to 14Mbs
Set audio bitrate to 128Kbs
PS:
1. Zoom is working now (no crash on Paul's Gr1) !!
2. If you have a darker icon for your camera app, then update script worked like it should!

Thanks for your efforts. Going to try this out.
Anyway you can make widescreen photos option available? Don't like 4:3 ratio.
how did you disable shutter sound ?
in cm, focus sound is played by camera app, so it is easy to reduce, while shutter sound is hard-coded in libcameraservice.so and you have to modify frameworks/base/services/camera/libcameraservice/CameraService.cpp (maybe Gr1 is different ?)
another question is that in cm, picture quality drops once you go to video recording mode and back to still image mode. do you also have this ?
Good work

thanks

It's sort of a hack. I disabled it by removing the middle layer.
To make it short: The app actually plays the sound, but the sounds won't be loaded in the first place There isn't even an error message in log cat about that though!
If you just remove the actual playing part, it simply plays the default sound instead (like you mentioned).
About pic quality...didn't notice that so far, will test it.

Update: can you post the zip file, because I can't overwrite the camera apk ...
Nice work, you read my mind...
I couldn't fix the 1080p issues either since the camera app looks to be unfinished, looks like its missing updated libs (libcamera.service.so|libnvmm_camera.so|libcamera_client.so) as I could restore some functions like 1080p higher compression via using the froyo code [cameraengine.java|modevideonormal.java] but it would screw other features, all LG seems to have done is started a quick and dirty port to GB.
Also looks like their trying to make a universal GB camera app for GB phones using the media_profiles.xml like the sgs2 and aosp frameworks have, this looks like where the 1080p issues reside as it will be looking to this file for fps and audio/video compression in the O2X Gb update.
Done well so far matey keep it up.

Good to hear, that its not just me having trouble with this
Actually I already thought that exactly these probs would keep you from posting a GB mod
Thanks for this valuable info! But I was almost sure this would be related to a buggy kernel, as I developed another cam app which is working great on Froyo but behaves on Gr1 exactly the same strange way as the LG cam app does in Gr1. I think the drivers are simply f*cked up for LG's GB port at this point of time. So let's wait and see what comes down the pipe...
PS: tried the media_profiles.xml as well (and included it into the update zip) - even b4 your post - but obviously no impact on said probs.

+1 here, would it work with CM7?
Does it actually removes the "mist" effect from the camera when taking pictures? stock v10d removes(without any fix), tho in CM7 it's still there.
Any chance of updating this work with the camera module from the latest leaked V20c ROM (eg. Flair GB) or V20f (Korean??)?
LG have fixed the video zoom problem and upped the frame rate for 1080p to 24fps in V20c.
But I am still really disappointed with LG's lack of progress with the still photo quality. The white haze problem is not so noticeable (color saturation still no where as good as the Nokia cameras) but the image is still very grainy and I suspect that is all we are going to get Could do with your tweaking magic
greetings, I wonder if you think some mod make the camera view has achieved stability with ginger roms version based on 20c?, a greeting

[APP] Recording video at resolution 640.480 for galaxy mini.

ok first this it not my work.
thanks to RubberBigPepper for his great work. for download link, go to original thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1677645
but the thing i want to share here, it is very simple, but its VERY GREAT.
this camera help us to recording video at resolution 640.480 most camera app, from stock camera to apps from store, or porting..only can record at max res 320.240
but with this camera app, we can really record at 640.480
for this, just install camera normally.then go to camcoder, setting:
scene mode: action
video resolution: 640.480 (higher is not supported)
video encoder: mpeg4
video file format: mpeg4
video bitrate:5Mbit
other is default.then exit apps. open it again (u need to do it because it still in beta and have bug)
now u can record, then open in your computer.u can see, resolution it 640.480, video it much more better and detail
the only problem is framerate only 10, while with stock we have 15.but i think because this does not have right config for mini (same as miui camera.it only can record at res 320.240 with framerate 10 )
notice, this app still in dev so it may have bugs.but the important thing i want to share you and hope devs hack it, its that our mini can record video at higher resolution, and if anyone can make the framerate more than 15, this would be very great
devs, please looking for this!

Low FPS video recording with rear camera on DEV ROM (5.1.1 Android)

Hi,
decided to start a thread hoping for somebody can help to resolve the issue since xiaomi doesn't submit it as a bug.
Only few of MIUI forum users submit the bug of low FPS video recording - http://en.miui.com/thread-182997-1-1.html You can find there links to videos shared on youtube.
The issue is that when you shoot video HDR off with rear camera on 4K, FullHD, HD modes on DEV ROM you will have video with extremely low FPS (20max on sunny day and 10max in low light scenes). However if you turn on HDR option the FPS is fine at any mode - 30FPS as it should be.
Stable ROM which is 5.0.2. Android has no issue - 30FPS at every camera mod.
So what I tried to do:
1. Clean install (delete everything) and flash China DEV ROM via MiFlash/FASTBOOT - no result.
2. Tried different Camera apps like MX, OpenCamera, Google Camera - no result. Though some of apps show progress - Instagram built-in video mode, lgcamera (but quality is crappy) but they are not very usefull apps for video shooting.
3. Tried to tweak build.prop and media_profiles.xml - no result (some tweaks caused Camera crashes).
4. Tried to change MIUICamera.apk and camera.msm8994.so from MIUI Stable 5.0.2 Android - no result (Camera doesn't work).
Any ideas please?
I'm wondering why nobody cares and not too many users confirm that bug. Nobody shoots the video with Mi Note Pro? Really? It is impossible not to notice such choppy scenes.
Tried to replace camera.msm8994.so file with a file from OP2 (which has the same CPU and camera unit) - no result as well.
Futhermore, OP2 file size is 0.59Mb and Xiaomi file size is 2.62Mb.
News about this bug? It's very annoying...and I don't know why HDR mode makes better FPS, maybe because it decreases the camera exposure, infact images are darker...surprising nobody talks about it and fix it...maybe with kernel source release we will move to a new great ROM

Stock Camera: ~14 fps (FullHD), quality ~ 4/5 bit (program more sharped), bit rate ~ 1,8 Mbps.
Camera API: ~16 fps (FullHD), quality ~ 4,5/5 (no program sharp), bit rate ~ 5,2 Mbps!
Camera API, 4K (4096x2160), bit rate ~ 5,2 Mbps, but more detail with noise, quality 5/5! ~ 16 fps.
In Stock camera 4K = FullHD, quality, fps very poor.
In Mi Note Pro great sensor's, but software is poor.
Front camera work good, but not smooth ~ 23 fps. And not smooth auto exposition.
Thanks what to do with these camera apk? Are they better from stock? Have to put in system folder with root or just install?

No video stabilization in pie?

Just got updated to pie last night. This morning while I was testing camera settings, I noticed that video stabilization is missing in the default camera app settings. in Oreo, I can stabilize videos (except 4k and 16:9), but now, it's simply missing. And test shots confirmed that there is no stabilization (optical or what so ever) anymore. That just sucks. It was very useful to take videos of my kids playing while running after them. Now without it, all the videos gonna be garbage.
Any idea how to fix it? or just simply accept it as it is?
You've got stabilisation in 1080P FHD enabled by default. There is no option for stabilisation because it's enabled by default in supported resolutions.

Which makes is quite useless for pro use with a gimbal or other situations where you want stabilisation off. Great camera hardware by Sony, lousy software to control it by Huawei.
When you dont want ois and want use gimbal, then use another resolution
4k example

This was my thought too at first. Then I tried Full-HD 30 FPS with my gimbal and it works fine! Also FHD 60FPS and 4K work too, as expected.

? Not doable due to after processing constraints.
I'm still on Oreo, I just extracted the Huawei Camera APK with APK Extractor Lite. Can someone on Android Pie try to install the old camera apk (if installing is successful) and look if stabilisation is working again?

Ois works for 1080p 30 fps / 16:9 only.
It works in:
- 720p 30fps
- 1080p 30fps (both 16:9 and 18:9)
There is a workaround, if you want to shut it off. Go to video mode ( not pro mode), turn on beautification. The OIS stopped working, but you're stuck at 720p 30fps.

I think it is the EIS (software stabilization) because the OIS is built into the lens, it seems to work in all resolutions.
The EIS crops the video a bit, and tries to reframe it to cancel harsh movement. But it compensates (in my P10 phone at least, which model seems also affected with the bug) to wrong direction turned 90 degree. If You move up-down, it compensates left-right for me, causing more fake shake recorded.
Hello! So reading this feed, it sounds as though the stabilisation is still working for the Huawei P20 Pro cam, but just the option to turn this on and off has recently disappeared. Weird. Why would Huawei do this? Is the stabilisation definitely still working on all resolutions barring 40? My eyes suggest otherwise.
