Help with axon Elite, app notifications are not coming through in real time? - ZTE Axon Pro

Evening all I am after a little help please I am new to this phone after having Samsung's for a long time and one thing that is bugging me is that apps that are real time e.g. whatsapp and anything with messaging are not getting the messages until I open the app and I am then flooded with messages? I have seen the options in the power menu for background apps but regardless of how I select the apps either on or off I still don't get the messages till I open the app?
Anyone else had this issue and know lof a work around?
Cheers

Hi! yeah, I had the same problem and I know more people is suffering the same experience. What I made was the following. Firstly, you should set the background apps in setting/power manager/manage background. Then, you have to make the same in Mi-assistant app/list of authorized and finally, you can install "Push Notifications Fixer" app from Google Play Store but be aware, because there are two versions of this app (rooted and not rooted devices). At this moment, my notifications come on time so, it's working pretty well.

Thanks so much for this I will check your advise out now.

The above isn't working unfortunately does anyone else have any suggestions?

Have you updated to the latest firmware?
Sent from my ZTE B2016 using Tapatalk

Yes I have updated it twice in the week since owning it and it's done this on all versions

Did you check the APN settings?
Sent from my A1P using Tapatalk

No did not think about those as it did it automatically and for phone fiction as in call and texts it is fine but I will give them a once over to check, thanks

Where is power manager? I don't see that in the settings.(on 5.1.1)

Do you have 5.1.1 version in Axon Elite? Congratulations! You must be the only one. Rest of us have 5.0.2 version and in settings, you have an option with an icon battery. This is power manager or energy manager.

Hello, I have found an easy solution Here is the link, post number 5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/zte...n-mini-root-custom-roms-t3289640#post64791398

hi all well after speaking with ZTE support i performed a factory reset but prior to that they advised to clear cache on the apps with issues (not sure why) but this did help and for the first few days all was great but whatsapp is slowly getting more and more delayed? i have set all the power and start up options as advised also disabled the MI assistant but to no avail? so the reset may help others but for me this did not work.

Android auto messaging

Anyone else having this problem?
Using nexus 6p fully stock running 6.0.1 on the latest android auto.
Problem is when a new message comes in and it is read or replied to, it still shows new message. So when you get lets say 5 messages from the same person it keeps reading them all from the beginning. So I have to hear the whole conversation every time.
I have looked at all the permissions and all in the 6p but nothing works.
Thanks
+1 on this. I'm also having the same issue. Also with a nexus 6p stock 6.0.1

hah. I was hoping this thread was longer and had an answer as I'm having the same issue.
I have a Nexus 6P w/ 6.0.1 stock but rooted. Phone works fine and I use it with a Pioneer 8100NEX w/ the 1.05 firmware. I'm not sure if it's Messenger that is at issue or the version of Android Auto currently out but I had to listen to 12 messages from the wife to get to the new one before I lost my patience and unplugged the phone from the head unit .. marked the messages as read through Messenger and reconnected it.
Are you folks using Google Messenger, Hangouts or another app? Is Android Auto just not able to mark the messages as read in the message db? I'm not sure what the issue is.
I'm using Google messenger. I contacted google about the issue and they said they are aware of it and are working on a fix from there end. I can see an update to android auto soon with the issue resolved

I wonder if this bug is also present when using Hangouts as the SMS/MMS client or if it's AA accessing the sqlite db where the messages are being kept. Any idea?

No idea but if I had to guess I'd say it's to do with AA accessing messages. I've also noticed when you give AA notification access it automatically turns if off again so I'm guessing that's also part of the issue. I also asked if google planned to implement the ability to use "ok google" instead of pressing the voice button. The AA team replied saying it's also something they are looking at. I think this would be a great feature then you wouldn't have to take your hands off the wheel at all
Nn
I'm not sure if that's better or worse than what is going on now.. Only the first received van be read, the rest it seems like it's reading but stays silent.

(How to Fix) Not receiving notifications fix!

With the way Huawei forces their "power saving" down our throats you are likely not getting all of your notifications for things like news apps and social media apps etc. I like their idea on trying to find ways to consume less battery, but man they are aggressive on the way they do it. Here is a fix that should work on all Huawei branded phones.
Step 1: First go to settings, advanced settings, battery manager and then to protected apps. Look for the app that you want to receive notifications from and then select "protect it".
Step 2: Go to settings, apps, advanced, ignore battery optimizations, then find the app and ignore it. This sounds kind of weird when you select ignore the app, but actually this means to allow it to run....... basically you are telling battery optimization function to ignore that particular app. Also known as "Doze"
Step 3: Go to settings, notifications panel & status bar, notification center, then find the app, then activate "allow notifications" and also "priority display". You must select priority or you won't get the notifications.
Works perfect for me. I spent countless hours trying to figure out why I didn't get notifications from my news apps and it drove me crazy. BTW....I have not experienced any battery drain at all.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO HIT MY THANKS BUTTON!!!
Solution already brought up on the 4th of July!

Hi, I have to say that Step 3 is not convincing.
Enabling priority display allow notification to appear during "do not disturb" mode. I don't want to be woke up during the night.

That is correct, but if you don't set priority you won't get the notification . Been there and done that ready. You can try not setting priority and see if works different for you, but when I turn off priority for the app I do not get the notification.
Please let me know if yours works differently as I am interested.

If you are right, then Huawei software developer must be brainless. For god sake, why on the earth getting a simple notification is so freaking complicated??
I'll try to set priority notifications, but even if it works it's not a solution for me.
I'll let you know man.
Thank you.
This one is working for sure, i found this solution out myself.
Push notifcations
To make push notifications work again create a widget (provided with the app) and place it on your home screen.
The widget will keep the services alive, even when you close the app in the taskmanager.
Make sure you toggle them on in the protected apps menu and put the powerplan on performance mode.
This works for all apps that came with the option to create a widget for it.

This sure would have been nice to have had this info prior to my 2 days of trial & error to get things working. As I do not receive or read all news outlets in regards to this phone, as is the case with many others, this was my sole purpose of my posting it here for others. In July I wasn't even considering this phone....actually I didn't even know this phone existed then. Another reason for my posting the info here. Luckily we have this forum as a go to place.

Thanks, but uninstall Phone Manager was the only fix for me to get notifications working again. I hope they fix this in Nougat and emui 5.0.
It is perfect working solution to move viber, whatsapp... to system/apps partition, than it works as we wish...

it works! but i have 2 questions :
disabling phone manager Causes problems? second : can i restore back phone manager?
I uninstalled phone manager, the method worked and got rid of it, Now I get better notifications but I'm still having the issue, still some notifications are not shown.
Deleting it does not solve 100% of the problem!

Auto-close battery draining apps not working

Ever since I've upgraded from Open Beta 4 to Open Beta 5 I can't toggle the option on. It's not greyed out but when I access the setting again, it's turned off. It also doesn't work as I receive notifications about battery draining apps.
The "lock" in recent apps view is not checked for the apps I get notifications for.
I've already wiped cache+dalvik but of no avail.
Does anyone else experience this? Any ideas on how to fix this?
If you need further information just let me know.
Cheers and thanks in advance!

Yes it a known bug,
Use the user feedback app to report the problem to Oneplus!
Now they've removed auto-close in open beta 6 completely.

Yeah, you're right. Didn't check that, thanks alot!
I've optimized all apps now - But how does that affect receiving notifications? Especially messaging apps?
I assume that they will still work if I don't use the advanced optimization, am I correct?

Did you select all option to theme or one by one?
So after you select the s8, it will automatically show you options of stuff that is installed on your phone, you can select multiple then install them. Also you can find a theme in be play store called swift for Samsung. It is actually better because the overlays there are designed for the Samsung stuff. Hope this helps. Try it and let me know.
I noticed when i restart my phone, some overlays (eg YouTube Twitter tumblr chrome) get back to the original theme and I have to reinstall the overlays even though it says up-to-date. Does it happen to you guys?

not sure wth is going on, but i'm using substratum with magisk rooted on nemesis rom, it's saying application successful but the settings menu is still white, notification window and QS icons are still white, only the dialer and a few other 3rd party apps got themed using swift black oreo samsung
I had some of my overlays reset on restart the first time. I reinstalled and now they seem to be sticking. YouTube gave me some issues, too. I didn't know about the Samsung variant, so I have the normal Swift Black. It seems to be working under S8 option now. Maybe that is what caused my little glitch.
It was annoying, but I thought it was going to change my notifications, too. It took another 3 hours of searching to get rid of the white notification background. Ugh. But it is worth it to use an almost all black phone.
I will totally be sharing substratum with my friends and family.
I do not take credit for the link, I got it in a YouTube video :

Question Xiaomi Home notifications

I have a Mi camera and the Xiaomi Home app.
For each movement the camera sends a notification on Xiaomi Home.
Unfortunately the do not disturb of MIUI does not allow you to exclude a specific app, so at night I either do not set do not disturb (and I wake up every half hour due to emails, LinkedIn, etc.) or I set do not disturb and I do not hear the notification in case of movement.
I found an app called Alertify that intercepts the notifications of the app I choose and changes it's sound, even ignoring the do not disturb.
However, Alertify works with notifications from all apps except Xiaomi Home.
I also tried a similar app (NotifiCon) which has the same problem, so I think the problem is Xiaomi Home.
Any hint, advice, alternative solution?
Thanks
Amazfit tools do the same. Don't add the mi home app but Xiaomi service framework instead and It will works
