Is it possible to port Jide Remix OS to this device? - Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have long desired to be able to use a multi window ROM on tablets and such forth. I was reading around and found that there are ports of Remix OS for some of the Nexus devices, so I was wondering if it would be possible to get it working on this device as for the cheapness of this tablet getting that kind of usability would be amazing. Here is a link to the forum post I found for the ports https://forum.jide.com/index.php?p=...5-nexus-6-or-even-a-remix-ultra-phone-perhaps.

No, not that. That's a custom ROM. Remix OS is a OEM ROM that is somewhat open source and has very nice multitasking and productivity features.

That ROM does look pretty cool though. I might give it a go some time soon.

Lol, hence why I am so eager to have a build on this device. Would you be interested in porting it to the Amazon Fire? It would be amazing for productivity.

[REF] Kernel sources for Nexus S released :)

Hello it's my first post in the Nexus S forums, probably not the latest
History for the Nexus S sources begins now.
Original source is here :

Yeah, that's wonderful. I think for a developer it's a sufficient reason for itself to get this phone
Awesome
Nero+dow1.4+oclf
So that the devs can keep the "rooted within hours after release" benchmark. Google rock!

This makes me want this phone. I love my Cappy, but Google is so much more on the ball than Samsung....
Supercurio: get one Nexus S please, your kernel work will be highly appreciated
I feel like I'm going to burst from excitement!
Can anyone who is well versed, take alook around and see if there's video out of 3.5mm or even video over usb setup?
Go on with Galaxy S !!

Nexus S kernel (and other resources) will improve software performance on Galaxy S.
Anyone to postulate on this comment?
Need to keep digging, but I could not find the info in the kernel. Is the gps the same infamous bcm4751? All drivers here refer to bcm47xx...

Probably. But making work GPS will require work, and some other feature willl miss.
2.3 Source available now
Now only time will tell what great things the Dev community will do
Just a word of the wise from JBQ:
"Even though Nexus S is designed to be suitable for AOSP work, there
are some caveats. I very strongly recommend against trying to use
Nexus S for anything related to AOSP at the moment. Trying to unlock
or use your Nexus S for AOSP work could easily turn it into a Nexus B
(where B means "brick"); I have two of those, they're not very useful.
I'll send some guidelines about what is currently possible once I've
finished pushing the source code.

Development Progress?

When is development for the device going to pick up? There's not much out there! I know it just came out but I expected more. I installed the Sky high Kernel after I rooted and I really like it. I have my A15 cores overclocked to 2.1GHz and have all cores undervolted, as well as overclocked the GPU and the device is totally stable!! My only issue with root/SkyHigh kernel (not sure which is the issue) is that my screen mirroring does not work. It will try to connect and say hardware issue. Anyways, everyone just post your thoughts, opinions and such about the device and development. I'd love to hear ideas and info out there. This device is AmAzInG!
Yep the 8.4 got a kernel but nary a peep on any rom activity. I think the problem is that most developers that wanted a high res tab like this already bought the Pro model and are not upgrading to the S.
I'm waiting on someone to port CM over so I can go pure Android and get rid of this excessive Touchwiz javascript lag on pageloads. For that I'd happily give up the gimmicky stuff like split screen that I rarely use anyway.

I personally have been a fan of the Touchwiz UI. And actually like and use a lot of its features. This is a very capable tablet and I think devs will arise soon.

Why not? The Tab Pro line has CM.
There will be more development when we have a working recovery. No one really wants to drop mods if there's no way to flash them. Hopefully Team Win will read my email.

Other than the screen? Same. Unless a Dev is really wanting amoled screen, we might be Sol for a while. Sammy needs to stop making new tabs every few months.

No camera settings and modes

Many more that o have been using in Touchwiz and other OS capabilities..
Device hardware looks capable of everything...but loaded with minimum os.

Custom ROM/Developer?

Hi guys! Just want to ask regarding custom ROM developer for our device as I noticed that there is only one developer that is working as of now. And based on his thread his not willing to work with anyone.
My question is any chance that there for other developer to work on our device? Coming from my previous device(mia1) lineage is well supported, little bit worried plus this is also my first time using miui and I'm not impressed. But hardware is top notch plus no moving parts ,this is a good device.
This question is just query without any demand to anyone. Thank you.
I'm using Pixel Experience GSI bro, and straight up not having a good time, but still better than miui (it's my personal taste). At this point, consider how this device had been out, i dont think we see any official roms any time soon
Unfortunately, the smartphone doesn't get the attention it deserves. But hope dies last.

Why not try the Lineage ROM? We're very lucky to have an active dev working on it!

Yes you're right. I think mi 9 lite is superior than mi 9 se(small battery) and mi9t(moving front camera. Only downside is the processor, but you will not notice the difference in day to day task. Hopefully some devs will notice our device as this one should be the mia3. If @Flex can help us,that will be great. No 1 contributor to mia1.

I'm also working on a rom for the device. There sure is a steep learning curve. At the moment, building roms that are based on Android 10 are quite a pain due to the fact that Xiaomi has not released the Android Q kernel source for pyxis. They're still on Pie.

Pine phone OS's on Remix mini

Hmm... today I watched.. ETA prime's YouTube vid... about Pine Phone
It has 4 opensource operating systems... ( currently in beta? )
But most interesting is the fact, is that specs are about the same as the Remix Mini
That's makes me think... could we get these OS to run on the Remix mini?
Are there people like me? ... still interested in a Remix mini (possible upgrade pad)
Mine box is still running 24\7... but android 5.1 is getting old
-Normale things...like buying stuff online is getting harder as its a no longer supported platform version
Thoughts? opinions?

I am so interested in this, but I am not a dev and have no idea what goes into doing this type of work.
I've had my Remix for a for a few years now and just want to update because of the no longer supported platform issue.
Unfortunately I would be the wrong person the ask for help with this...
Yes! Yes! Yes! This is a great idea! I have so many things is like to use my remix mini for, but the system is pretty old. I can't even root mine ...
Sometimes I think about trying to learn to develop custom ROMs... I wish I wasn't so lazy.
